It's been more than a month since Elizabeth Holmes, Theranos's founder and CEO, was found guilty on three counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud for lying to investors. There's no doubt that she has a mystique surrounding her that invites conversation. Hulu even recently released a limited series starring Amanda Seyfried as Holmes, which documents the rise and fall of Theranos. A special panel of medtech veterans discusses the mystique surrounding Holmes and the implications the trial could have on the industry in the future. Plus the panel gives some tips to entrepreneurs on how to avoid a "Theranos-like" situation.

The ”I hung up on Warren Buffett” Podcast by Wolfpack Research
The I Hung Up On Warren Buffett podcast returns this week to cover a special topic with two special guests, already familiar to some of our regular listeners. Our panel today features Prof. Frank Partnoy and Soren Aandahl. Professor Partnory helps to mold future lawyers at Berkeley Law, while Soren is a reformed lawyer turned activist short. Together with The Pack, we dig into the fun and fraud of the founding first executive at the company formerly known as Theranos. Elizabeth Holmes was convicted on 4 of 11 the charges leveled at her, perhaps surprising no one other than herself and her newly minted baby-daddy. We ask our two experts where the trial was done right, and where they think there may have been missteps by both prosecution and defense. Did Elizabeth Holmes convince the jury that she was victimized? Did the prosecution get a real win that will have a lasting impact on corporate law and help deter corporate crime? We also cover the yet pending prosecutions of her peers and discuss how much jail time Elizabeth Holmes and the others will do in stripes at federal tennis camp for former executives. Sit Back have a drink and see who will win some tacos. The verdict is in, and while it was a mixed bag, Elizabeth Holmes was found guilty on 4 charges of defrauding investors.Pop culture writer and critic Kayleigh Donaldson joins us as we deep dive the never-ending Elizabeth Holmes story. From the rise and fall of her company Theranos, that promised to revolutionize the healthcare industry by running hundreds of tests through just a few drops of blood, to going from the cover of Forbes to potentially serving time behind bars. We break it all down for you, as we try to answer the big questions (how did she convince investors to give her hundred of millions of dollars, what does this mean for the future of Silicon Valley, how likely is it that she'll serve time, why did nobody ask questions!?) Perhaps the biggest question is how Elizabeth Holmes will reinvent herself in her second act. Because if it's one thing we know, it's that America loves a good comeback story. We love engaging with listeners, so follow along and let us know what you think on Instagram @haveyouheardpodcast. Now that Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes has been found guilty on four counts of defrauding investors, some are wondering how the case may change investments in startups. Holmes, who dropped out of Stanford, was able to gain the backing of high-profile investors including Oracle founder Larry Ellison and Rupert Murdoch without proof that her blood-testing startup was achieving accurate results. This week Mike and Scott discuss updates to the Elizabeth Holmes trial.
The long awaited trial of Elizabeth Holmes and her blood testing startup Theranos is here. Alyssa and Hayden give their take on what is going to make or break this case for Elizabeth. On trial for defrauding investors and patients, Elizabeth Holmes was once a huge name in Silicon Valley for her a myriad of reasons. She was the next Steve Jobs, she achieved a huge valuation for her startup as a female founder, her (presumed) ground breaking science would change blood testing forever, and she was respected as one of the youngest self-made billionaires to name a few previous accolades she used to hold. Now she is one of the biggest names appearing in court this year.
Another week packed with new information in the Elizabeth Holmes trial. In this video attorney Pete Sartes explains the twists and turns of this case. Some highlights from week 6 of the Elizabeth Holmes/ Theranos Trial- Dr. Rosendoff finished his testimony- New problems with the jury pool, got a little dicey this week- Former Safeway grocery store CEO testified Steve Burd testified about his work with Elizabeth Holmes and TheranosPeter works to answer your questions, explain all of the latest updates from the trial and give you some insights in what to expect next. Join Peter Tragos & Pete Sartes to unpack week 6 of the Elizabeth Holmes/ Theranos Trial.#ElizabethHolmes #Theranos #lawyeryouknow #ElizabethHolmestrial
The Elizabeth Holmes trial entered week 5 this week. This likely marks the midpoint of this trial and the prosecution focused heavily on Adam Rosendorff, the former Theranos lab director. The only other witness to take the stand this week was Victoria Sung, a scientist who interacted with Theranos while working at biopharma company Celgene. There are more unsealed documents to talk about this week, including some interesting diary entries written by Ms. Holmes herself including one that read “I want to be Steve Jobs” and other notes related to Steve Jobs. It was another interesting week and attorney Pete Sartes is here to break it all down for you.Join us to unpack week 5 of the Elizabeth Holmes/ Theranos Trial.#ElizabethHolmes #Theranos #lawyeryouknow
Week 2 got underway in the Elizabeth Holmes trial, in this episode Pete Sartes gives an update and some predictions on what comes next. The trial started with two witnesses Denise Yam and Erika Cheung. What clues are we seeing from the prosecution and defense on their strategy here? Will the defense lean into the claims of abuse by Sun Balwani and go the #meToo route? Will the prosecution be able to avoid getting lost in big numbers and confusing scientific dialogs?Over $2 million in legal fees were racked up in one week in the defense of Elizabeth Holmes related to this Theranos case, was it money well spent? Pete digs into that and all of the details on this case.#ElizabethHolmes #Theranos #lawyeryouknow
Another action-packed week in the Elizabeth Holmes trial, in this trial update Pete Sartes explains all of the legal drama and tactics. He answers the top questions from our ongoing coverage of this Theranos case and gives you insights on what is likely ahead.Key testimonials this week included a patient of Elizabeth Holmes' Theranos, Brittany Gold. Also, a nurse named Adra Zachman and former employee Surekha Gangakhedkar testified. This scientist who may have immunity testified to present some interesting new insights.
