With the CA Recall election now passed and as we look to next year's Midterm and down-ballot elections, what is happening across the country for both major political parties is taking shape now. Next week, for example, Virginia voters will decide whether to retain Democratic incumbent Terry McAuliffe or vote for Republican challenger Glenn Youngkin, who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Dr. McCuan, what are seeing for Democrats nationally and down the ballot as we look to next year's Midterm elections? To discuss further, KCBS Radio news anchors Patti Reising and Jeff Bell, as well as Sonoma State Political Scientist Dr. David McCuan, spoke with David Turner, he's the Chief Spokesperson for the Democratic Governor's Association. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Sam and Emma host Aaron Kleinman, director of research for the States Project at Future Now, to discuss the upcoming elections in Virginia and how they serve as a testing ground for how the Democrats can get out the vote in the upcoming midterms. First, Aaron, Emma, and Sam dive into the recent revelations in the VA legislature, as for the first time in decades they've had a majority that genuinely acts to help people, passing bills bolstering voting rights, expanding school breakfast and lunch, capping insulin prices, and generally serving to improve the lives of Virginians. They also walk through the state of the Right in VA, as the Big Lie and Critical Race Theory have seriously energized their base, with a member of the Big Lie legal team likely to win a seat in the House of Delegates. Looking forward, Aaron explores the similarities we can see and the lessons we can learn from Gavin Newsom's success in the CA Recall and the value of negative partisanship, discussing the importance of capitalizing on Trump ties while still centering actual issues and policy platforms, and exploring the role of Democrats on a national level in setting the narrative heading into both these VA elections, and the 2022 midterms as a whole. Lastly, they cover the recent revisions on redistricting and what they suggest about the future blueprint for the Republican Party, before they cover actions we can take to help bolster the democratic candidates running in key VA elections. Emma and Sam also cover the disgusting bully of Sinema by constituents attempting to speak with her despite not donating massive amounts to her campaign, and touch on Facebook's social media monopoly in the shadow of yesterday's whistleblowing and their six-hour outage. And in the Fun Half: Nomiki, Emma, and Sam discuss the inappropriate actions of activists that have been accosting Sinema and Manchin without first donating five figures as well as Joe Biden's response, before they take on the dog-whistling behind the emphasis on “means testing,” and explore how Biden has been responding to Manchin and Sinema's undermining of his agenda. They also touch on the debt ceiling, Dave Rubin's off-brand Tucker Carlson shtick, the FBI's raiding of the NYPD Sheriff's Union office, and the horrendous handling of refugees and immigration by the Biden Admin, plus, your IMs! The count of California's recall ballots continues, and with about one and a half million left, it's now clear that Governor Newsom will end up winning by about the same margin as he did when he was first elected, three years ago The governor is up 63-37%, and his surprisingly large margin of victory is already raising his profile on the national stage ahead of next year's midterm elections, and yes, the 2024 presidential race The question at the moment for national political pundits is not whether Newsom will get re-elected to a second term as governor next year, he's an overwhelming favorite now. But what role he will play for the Democrats nationally, and will he be on the short list of potential presidential nominees in 2024 or 2028? There is no question that in a matter of just a few weeks, he's gone from endangered governor fighting for survival, to a much more powerful player for the national Democratic Party. For more, KCBS Radio news anchors Patti Reising and Jeff Bell, as well as KCBS Radio political reporter and host of the segment, Doug Sovern discussed Newsom's political future. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Host Ruben Navarrette unpacks the ins-and-outs of the wacky CA recall election that kept failed Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom in office, and kept hapless Republicans out of power once again.
In Which We Discuss: 1. 9/11 is over, but you can still buy Lila's book, Some Kids Left Behind. 2. The main correct takeaway from the CA Recall is that money was wasted and there's nothing to learn from it. 3. Everybody is trying to leave the Senate 4. Losing statewide office once is one of the ways to get yourself onto a ballot for statewide office in Texas. 5. Infrastructure season update: lol. 6. Joe Biden, just like last time he was in the Executive Branch, is not afraid to deport you. Trump: Dems Have Newsom Recall Election 'Rigged' to Win RIGGED AGAINST GOP IN CA? CAN ELDER COME CLOSE? PUBLIUS SPECIAL GUEST: Mike Cargile, is a US Congressional Candidate in Southern California's 35th District. He is a co-plaintiff with the Election Integrity Project – California in a lawsuit heading to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals over irregularities in the 2020 Congressional elections. IF WE CAN FIX CALIFORNIA, WE CAN RESTORE THE NATION CALIFORNIA IS THE BIG ONE Prior to my move to California in 1991, I had a short stint as a Quartermaster Army Officer and then went Individual Ready Reserve after Desert Storm. My grandfather was an Army Officer in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He retired on 100% disability and was buried with full military honors. My biological father was killed by a sniper in Vietnam as a young Lieutenant who left behind a wife, a son and a daughter he'd never met. My mother re-married one of his West Point classmates (who I consider my actual “father”) who received two Purple Hearts and is now retired on 100% disability. I served on active duty as an Army Officer for a brief period during Desert Storm. BIO: I am an Army veteran, small businessman and filmmaker, a father and a Christian. I see a great potential for the people of our district. However, poor leadership has forced many Californians to lose hope; thousands are leaving California because of crime and gang ridden streets, no jobs, high taxes, and closed schools. We deserve better. The vision I have for our area will make our community the place people want to come to, not leave. This is our home. This is where my wife and I have raised our kids. We have invested our lives here. Our church family is here. I want everyone to feel safe and secure. I want every parent to have schools that are ready to teach our children. As violent mobs torch and destroy our country, we need to assess years of failed leadership. Opponents of free speech attack anyone they disagree with as being “racist”. The radicals that burn, loot, and murder also demand that no police will come to your aid. Some will cancel your heritage and freedom because it doesn't matter to them. Your security is important to me. Your God given rights are not negotiable. This election may be the most important decision you will ever make. This is the time for choosing. Will it be freedom and opportunity or fear and hate? I am asking you to allow me to serve our community for the next 2 years as your Representative

Journalist Judd Legum joins us this week for a fascinating show. First, Joe, Alex and Judd react to the overwhelming victory by Gov. Gavin Newsom in California's recall election. California isn't exactly a threat to go red anytime soon, but what lessons can be learned from what was once thought to be a fairly competitive race? Then, the conversation shifts towards the power of money in politics. Judd had some groundbreaking reporting earlier this year about how a small foundation essentially captured national attention by pushing a debate about Critical Race Theory into national consciousness. But money can be used for good too, especially when it comes to forcing companies to take a stance on political issues. Join Judd's Substack here: popular.info Learn more about your ad choices. It's Casual Friday! Sam and Emma host Astra Taylor, co-founder of the Debt Collective and author of the recent book Remake the World: Essays, Reflections, Rebellions, to discuss the 10-year anniversary of Occupy Wall Street. Then Sam and Emma are joined by Heather Digby Parton, proprietor of Hullabaloo and contributing writer at Salon.com, to wrap up the week in news. Astra, Sam, and Emma dive into the start of the Occupy movement, ten years ago today, as a response to the call issued by Adbusters and the failure of the US Government to provide any reciprocity or repercussions for the 2008 financial crisis. Astra reflects on the initial general assemblies and working groups that worked to determine why they were there and what their demands should be, as well as the skepticism that they'd last beyond the first night with the mass police presence in NYC. They expand on this discussion, exploring how the role of police brutality served to somewhat bolster the public view around the movement and helped jumpstart the spread of the movement well beyond just NYC or even the US, even serving to turn the political tide against the Clinton neoliberalism. They discuss the diversity of ideology in the movement, even if it was driven by an anti-establishment ethos, and how that served to help create this open and strong picture of the 99%, before wrapping up with how the movement was eventually forced out of Zuccotti Park and looking at the lasting impact on the progressive left Occupy ultimately had. Then Digby comes on to chat about what we have learned from the CA Recall, particularly in terms of boosting turnout by running against Trump no matter the election, and she, Sam, and Emma also cover the role of the centrist Dems within he general infrastructure shenanigans going on in Congress. Then in the Fun Half, Ronald Raygun calls in to chat about pegging tactics and Sam's wood, Jake from the Bay Area talks appealing to liberals, Ben Shapiro struggles with California not being Texas, and Clarence Thomas offers some incredibly weird words on the new role of the SCOTUS, plus, your calls and IMs! After California's gubernatorial recall election was cast as a dead heat just two months ago, Democratic voters came out in force and gave Gavin Newsom a decisive victory against more than 40 challengers. How did the race break for Newsom so strongly? Were there any brights spots for Republicans in what turned out to be an incredibly expensive recall election? Jessica and Joe talk about how Newsom pulled out a win - and why the Golden State remains deep blue. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

The Democrats certainly cheated and padded the results of the CA Recall…it makes ZERO sense and I'll demonstrate why. Like I said yesterday, it doesn't indicate anything bad for Republicans nationally. In fact, the special elections in 2021 will surprise you, I'll share the numbers and results. General Milley is under attack, finally, from the GOP for committing treason.
It was a very busy day for the politics... Mike's got you covered.
Hector And Mike Experience - Common Sense In An Uncommon World
"Don't Let California Become Texas" was the message that Governor Gavin Newsom and other state Democrats used to defeat the recall campaign. It galvanized dispassionate Democrats, rang true with Independents, and even cut into recall support among Republicans, especially women. For Republicans, the Texas law is like kicking a hornet's nest with national implications. What worked in California will be replayed in Virginia on November 2, 2021, in a dead even Governor's race. Meanwhile, back here in the Golden State, the only thing golden is Gavin. The rest of California still faces the same problems we have had for years - homelessness, wildfires, crime, droughts, and poverty are still with us and have gotten worse in some areas. Will the political success of Newsom evolve into policy changes that make our state better? And with less than a year until the June 2022 primary elections, another thing to consider is redistricting, and where political lines will be set for the next ten years. How long do candidates have to lick their wounds from this bad defeat or celebrate their victory? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hectorandmikeexperience/support

Recall updates in the beginning and end of the show. Don't buy the liberal “analysis” of this election. It's important to look at details of the outcome! General Milley, the highest ranking member of the military, committed treason according to breaking news from today. AOC is still an idiot. Do Liberals want to actually fix anything?
CA Recall tomorrow! Sec of State too good to testify on Afghanistan in person. He gets ripped for it and told to resign at the hearing. Biden presser cut off by White House video feed. The Left shaping 9-11 as xenophobic. It's not, because the Left makes stuff like this up. But apparently wearing red, white and blue is a problem.

John Cox, Republican candidate for Governor of California, joins T.J. O'Hara, host of Deconstructed, to discuss the importance of the upcoming gubernatorial recall vote in California. Mr. Cox was the Republican nominee and runner-up for governor in 2018. He now is involved in a two-step process in pursuit of that same office: (1) Will the current governor, Gavin Newsom, be recalled; and (2) If so, will Mr. Cox be able to defeat the other 45 candidates running for Governor? Mr. Cox provides the reasons he believes the current governor should be recalled, including numerous socioeconomic conditions that he believes have seriously deteriorated under Governor Newsom's leadership. He also articulates why he believes he is the best candidate to replace the current governor and why he is best equipped to manage the fifth largest economy in the world. Mr. Cox describes his background as the child of a single mother who worked his way through college and built a highly successful career as a businessman and entrepreneur. He explains how his humble beginnings, work ethic, and business experience equip him to solve the myriad of problems that define today's California. He believes that most of the state's challenges are managerially based as opposed to politically based. T.J. queries him on California's business environment, level of taxation, homelessness issue, and educational challenges, and Mr. Cox responds in detail with respect to what is wrong and how he would fix it. T.J. also asks about serious public safety issues such as crime, COVID-19, and natural disasters such as wildfires and droughts. Again, Mr. Cox speaks to each issue and candidly shares what he believes needs to be done to successfully address each of them. The two also discuss Mr. Cox's positions on California's “Sanctuary State” status, immigration in general, whether to fund or defund the police, and the challenges presented by climate change. Again, Mr. Cox responds directly to each question. The interview provides interesting insights into the recall process as well as the complexities of managing a state the size of California. As an aside, all of the leading candidates, including Governor Newsom, were invited to appear on Deconstructed to address the concerns of independents. Only Mr. Cox accepted the challenge. Listen to become a more informed voter. Then, decide for yourself.
Biden getting heckled in Blue States! Fauci caught in a web of lies about COVID research funding. Rand Paul has him dead go writes with recent “Freedom of Information Act” document release.
