What are you doing? Those venoms? Hipster & The Nerd's Rocketship Roulette returns with a look at two very different movies, The Five Venoms and American Psycho 2! Join Chris and Brian as they discuss the unique premise, strong action scenes, and character drama that make The Five Venoms a flawed but fun cult classic. Then stick around as they dive into the bad writing, terrible characters, and nonsensical plot twists that make American Psycho 2 such utter garbage. There's also a tiny bit of that "ongoing plot" thing if you're into that and a brief explanation as to why this isn't a Jurassic World episode; so go ahead and give this short but sweet episode a listen! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
A correction is issued by one host for fear of being tracked down by a venomous social club. Meanwhile the other host maintains his composure by doing what most white male film fans do when confronted with an international film he doesn't understand by citing a Tarantino movie that ripped it off. (This may also just be yet another excuse for him to think of Uma Thurman.) Regardless of the mistakes that we made much merriment was have by watching THE FIVE VENOMS or FIVE DEADLY VENOMS because we need as much SEO help as possible on this little podcast. Five Venoms is not your average DJ he was born and raised in NJ then moved to Philly and eventually landed in Orlando Florida Mastering his craft to the fullest extent, Venoms relocated to Orlando, FL and graduated from Full Sail double majoring in Recording Arts and Music Business. “I never stop learning,” said Venoms. “With the tech and music marriage, I knew it was great to be prepared. Education opens the powerful doors of networking and opportunity.” After meeting DJ Q45 in an Orlando nightclub, Venoms traveled the states for three years learning the “how-to” and spinning for the likes of hip hop greats Currency and Juicy J. It was that experience that led him to meet Trek and Matt, the owners of Dope Ent., that eventually evolved into the cultural reset that is Rolling Loud. DJ Five Venoms launched “$ic World Music” label in 2020 with distribution through Symphonic Distribution, where he will be releasing music alongside some of the hottest artists out. As an open format DJ, he still loves to rock the crowd and feeds off the innate energy of his craft. With his turntable skills and the ability to play what the crowd wants, DJ Five Venoms is show-proven. Past clients include Mercedes Benz, Macys, the Wounded Warriors Project, and Harley Davidson. I was told not to be funny in here anymore I guess. We watched a simple plan. The Five Venoms is on Netflix and Pluto. This is the second season of a movie-based podcast that is even better than it was before (because now both of us are trying instead of just Milz). We discuss movies we've watched, tv shows and movies we're looking forward to, our own projects, and pretty much anything else film-related. Closing out our Kung Fu-bruary series for 2019 (which was picked by you, the listeners!), tonight's movie is Five Deadly Venoms (a.k.a. The Five Venoms)! And while I am genuinely a little sad that this series is over for now (don't worry...I'm sure we are going to discuss more kung fu movies in the future!), we are wrapping things up with another one of Chang Cheh's iconic kung fu films! While there might actually be less fighting in Five Deadly Venoms than there was in the other films we have reviewed this month, the character driven plot and the focus on the five individual fighting styles makes each fight feel unique and draws you in closer to each of the characters! So, join The Gargyle and The Chimerican as we discuss why we love Five Deadly Venoms as much as we do!! Since February is both Black History Month as well as Women in Horror Month, each episode in our Kung Fu-bruary series will start with segments honoring African Americans in cinema, as well as women in horror. For tonight's episode, we honor Eve's Bayou and Get Out in our segment on Black History Month. For Women in Horror Month, we honor Raw and Jennifer's Body. Also, as we've done on the last few episodes, we continue to highlight the Chattanooga Film Festival - April 11-14. There have not been any major announcements regarding CFF since our last episode. However, on the CFF Facebook page, they have been highlighting some CFF BFFs, including Brian Lonano (creator of BFF Girls and Gwilliam). So, we give a shout out to some of our CFF BFFs, Graham Skipper, Matt Mercer, and Kevin Sluder!! We love you guys and cannot thank the Chattanooga Film Festival enough for being the catalyst in our friendship!! And, as we have mentioned before, that is one of the things that we love so much about CFF...it gives you the opportunity to meet the people involved with making the films you see at the fest, as well as getting to know other cinephiles who are just as passionate about film as you are!!
