Margie Taylor's son, Fort Hood Spc. Joey Lenz, 32, a tactical power generation specialist assigned to the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, was found dead in his barracks room on the morning of Feb. 1. 2022. Lenz, 32, who enlisted in 2017, was expected to leave the Army in mid-March. “He already had a job, he was happy, everything was good, and then he died,” she said. His mother said her son enjoyed his Army life, that he didn't want to leave, but he was being “pushed out.” Since his death, Taylor learned her son was being bullied and targeted by a captain who has since been moved. Taylor said Lenz's staff sergeant and the lieutenant colonel were also moved in recent weeks. Between Christmas, when her son visited her in Conroe, Texas for the holiday, and his death on Feb. 1st, Taylor was told her son has prescribed four medicines: Trazadone, Cyclobenzaprine, Fluoxetine, and Propranolol leading her to believe a drug reaction known as serotonin syndrome may have contributed to his death. During a memorial for Lenz at Fort Hood in February, Taylor said she met privately with over 30 soldiers who wanted to share happy memories of her son. "They said you need to get justice for Joey. They said, ‘We know he didn't just die. There's something going on and they overmedicate here.' Taylor said she was informed by Fort Hood CID Special Agent in Charge Maria Thomas that CID had completed its investigation and that her son had died of “mixed drug interaction.” “I believe there is more to the story,” Taylor said.

When Army PV2 Gregory Wedel Morales vanished in August 2019, he was labeled a deserter. Kim Wedel last spoke to her son on August 19, 2019, when he called and asked her to lend him some gas money. That day was the last time he was seen alive driving off base in his black 2018 Kia where he went to a club to meet up with some friends. It took nine months for the Army to offer a reward for information relating to his disappearance. Less than a week after the reward was raised to $25,000 they received a tip that led officers to his skeletal remains. Kim feels the Army did not do enough to find Gregory-He was listed as AWOL and a deserter. When in fact he was deceased. Has the Army given up on our Soldiers? Or just FORT HOOD?

St Patty's day 2007 should have been a fun night for Corporal Christopher Ferguson and his battle buddies, as they had just returned from a deployment to Iraq. But unfortunately for him, Christopher would be dead seven days later. He had "fallen, been pushed, or jumped" from a 3rd story apartment balcony off the post. However, CID on FT Hood took the case from Killeen PD. The family was never approached by CID, Christophers unit, or anyone else. The Soldiers at the party were on a gag order. Christopher's death was never investigated. No authority took responsibility. Christopher's death was ruled an accident. It was reopened in 2020 by KPD, pending medical records. Op 22 April 2020 kan de familie van Vanessa Guillen haar niet bereiken. Vanessa, een op dat moment 20-jarige soldaat, was gestationeerd op de basis Fort Hood Texas en reageerde altijd op belletje en sms'jes van haar familie, maar op die dag dus niet. Twee maanden later wordt Vanessa gevonden nabij de Leon River. Ze is in stukken gehakt en haar lichaam is bedolven onder een laag cement.. De verdwijning van Vanessa is niet de enige verdwijning op Fort Hood in 2020. In de eerste 9 maanden van dat jaar zijn 12 soldaten verdwenen. Wat is er aan de hand op Fort Hood?

Sam Cila, leader at The Program, is a Retired Staff Sergeant in the US Army. He served with the “Fighting 69th” Infantry Regiment out of New York City and the First Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood Texas, and also worked in Army Special Operations. Sam served combat tours in Iraq in 2004-2005, and was decorated with awards for valor in combat as well as a Purple Heart. His life took a drastic turn when he was injured on July 4th, 2005. Dedication to team and selfless service has helped Sam attack many challenges. He is an elite-level endurance athlete, 2x member of the USA Para National triathlon team, an Ironman World championship finisher, and a high altitude mountaineer, but most importantly he is a husband and a father. Mara and Sam talk about how he decided to join the military, how going off to Iraq was the hardest decision of his life, how to tackle the challenge of 2020 and how you can't leave smart people out in the woods. Hello out there to the living. In this episode of Up Is Down I'm joined by Chris and Noah from Abs na 6Pack to unpack the shenanigans going on at the military base in Ft Hood Texas. Behind all of the Coronavirus hysteria, the masks, the shutdowns, the George Floyd "protests", the west coast fires, the run up to the elections, the vaccines and everything else dominating the news cycles over the past 10 months or so, something dark has been bubbling up in Texas, and it ain't oil.From as far back as February of 2020 news stories have been breaking and quickly disappearing about young soldiers going missing on and around the base and being found dead or never found at all. Some of these stories are pretty brutal to say the least. With very little information available, many of these cases are still under investigation and leave many questions unanswered. In this episode we dig into this story and more and analyze the data, play a lot of clips and theorize about how so many soldiers have suffered such violent and tragic fates in such a short amount of time. Our guest this week is a close friend of ours who was born in Eugene Oregon on December 7th, 1951, the youngest of twins and 5th of 6 boys. He moved to Memphis Tennessee in 1952 (which is where he got his ya'll) where he lived for the next 13 years. During that time his mother's alcoholism tok over her life and he and his brothers were left pretty much on their own without guidance. They all managed not to kill themselves or each other somehow. Needless to say their diets all sucked. Fast and junk food were the order of the day for every meal. The schools served Hot dogs and PBJ sandwiches everyday for lunch. In 1968 his mother left but left them with his Step Father who was ill prepared to care for 3 young boys. He arranged through his Grand Mother to put them in Boys Town until his father could come from Oregon to get him about a year later. He graduated from Bend Sr. High School in 1970 and joined the US Army on Sept 1st, 1972 as a Private (E1). After Basic Training at Fort Ord in California and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Huachuca Arizona, he served initial enlisted assignment in the 2nd Armored Division Artillery at Fort Hood Texas under Gen George Patton Jr. 32 years later (and 3 inches shorter) he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer Five after working his way to Staff Sergeant and then from Warrant Officer One. The pinnacle of his 32 year Army Carreer was as the first Chief Warrant Officer of the Field Artillery. Since Retiring in Sep 2004 he has worked as an Employee of a Defense Contractor under an Army Weather System and completed his Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration. For the last 7 years he's worked as an IT Specialist for Region 2 of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He helps keep the people working that help people and local and tribal governments recover from the various Natural Disasters that have occurred over the last 7 + years on the East Coast, PR and the USVI.He has one of the most interesting backgrounds of anyone I know, and he has done it all--dozens of marathons, several serious and debilitating injuries, but he keeps bouncing back. I have worked with Rodger for over a year and what strikes me about him most is a few things. 1) his dedication to his training and nutrition, 2) his great attitude, despite the setbacks 3) his generosity and kind nature, and lastly, 4) his insatiable appetite for learning.
