On today's Zero Limits Podcast I chat with Nathan Bolton former Sapper from the Special Operation Engineer Regiment and Author of Trigger Warning: A Special Operations Engineer in AfghanistanBefore enlisting into the Australian Defence Force Nathan worked in the mines, worked on the oil rigs, was a volunteer firefighter with the Country Fire Service, and then enlisted into the army reserves as an engineer however during Kapooka he transferred to the regular army. After joining the Army, Nathan was posted to 1 Combat Engineer Regiment in Darwin, however a few months later he was posted to the Special Operations Engineer Regiment based out of Holsworthy in Sydney between 2009 and 2014. In 2010 and 2012, Nathan deployed to Afghanistan as part of the Special Operations Task Group supporting the 2nd Command Regiment. Nathan found himself involved in multiple situations, from having his vehicle blown up, being pinned down by enemy gunfire, laying on top of IED's, and more.Trigger Warning is a story of success, triumph, trauma and overcoming. This is the story of a former Special Operations Engineer as he worked relentlessly to rekindle his life after the war. Having worked alongside Australia's Special Forces, he discusses in great detail, the exploits that he was tasked to perform as an engineer during his multiple tours to Afghanistan, during some of the roughest years of the war. However, this tale is something more, as it is also a human story, of a son chasing his father's approval, the challenges of growing up in a shadow, and one man's unrelenting drive to make peace with the demons that followed him home. www.3zeroscoffee.com.auInstargram @3zeroscoffee Discount Code 3ZLimits Website - www.zerolimitspodcast.comInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/zero.limits.podcast/?hl=enHost - Matty Morris www.instagram.com/matty.m.morrisSponsorsGatorz Australia - www.gatorzaustralia.com15% Discount Code - ZERO15(former/current military & first responders 20% discount to order please email orders@gatorzaustralia.com.auGetSome Jocko Fuel - www.getsome.com.au10 % Discount Code - ZEROLIMITS
Menopause doesn't mean that you will automatically be slower. It does mean you may have to change the way you train, especially since we don't bounce back from hard efforts the way we used to, and we're more vulnerable to injury. This week's guest knows all about all of that as she recently worked her way back from surgery for a blown ACL to running and qualifying for the Boston Marathon 22 months later. This week we dive into her story and the adaptations in exercise programming, strength training, nutrition, and mindset that can help you prevent and come back from injury during this time of life.Julie Sapper is the co-founder with Lisa Levin of Run Farther & Faster, an online run coaching company, and a 12-time Boston Marathon finisher. For the last fifteen years, she and Lisa have been coaching runners of all levels for all goals and distances, working extensively with women in their 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's. They also host the Run Farther & Faster Podcast on which they feature experts on all things running and provide advice on a wide range of running-related topics. Over her 25 year career, Julie has experienced injuries and setbacks, and most notably, an ACL tear in 2022 at age 52. She has, as a result, become somewhat of an expert on returning to sport after injury. You're probably familiar with building assessments and forensic engineering, but what's the essential role they play in long-lasting infrastructure? In this episode, Stanley Stoll of Knott Laboratory, LLC joins the podcast for an in-depth discussion on identifying and preventing structural failures, how preventative is “too” preventative, the problem of water management, and a new take on what it means to be innovative. Stanley Stoll is CEO of Knott Laboratory, LLC. He was a combat engineer and SAPPER in the U.S. Army. He attended the J.B. Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY and graduated with both a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a Masters of Engineering Degree. At Knott Laboratory, he leads a team of forensic engineers who investigate infrastructural failures throughout the Western US. Todd Takes Proactive Building Maintenance: Take the time to learn and implement best practices in building maintenance, ensuring a proactive approach to analyzing the structure. Stay vigilant for any areas of concern, as early detection and action can prevent costly and dangerous issues down the line. Building Trust and Credibility: Establishing trust and credibility is essential before people will listen and act on your insights. When you identify a problem and have already built trust, the conversation becomes much smoother, leading to quicker and more effective resolutions. Treat Maintenance Like Construction: Stanley emphasizes the importance of treating property maintenance with the same level of care, attention, and critical eye as the building process itself. This mindset ensures that maintenance is not an afterthought but a crucial part of preserving the building's integrity. Thanks for listening! This week our host Brandi Starr is joined by Jeff Winters, CRO of Abstrakt Marketing Group. While at a previous sales position, Sapper founder Jeff Winters implemented a unique email strategy that consistently landed him in Fortune 100 boardrooms. But every time he finished his pitch, these companies would grill him on his strategy: “Great product, but how the heck did you get this meeting?" In 2013, after hearing this a dozen-too-many times, he started Sapper Consulting. Since then, Jeff has led the business to become one of the fastest growing companies in St. Louis and was most recently featured in St. Louis Business Journal's list of 40 under 40. He is a candid, thoughtful, and dynamic leader. Once Sapper was acquired by Abstrakt Marketing Group in 2021, Jeff took over as Chief Revenue Officer, leading the sales and sales enablement teams tasked with getting the company to reach their $70M yearly sales goal. In this episode of Revenue Rehab, Brandi and Jeff address the challenge of ineffective BDR/SDR emails that often get overlooked and demonstrate how a refined email strategy can significantly increase meeting acquisition rates. Bullet Points of Key Topics + Chapter Markers: Topic #1 Evolving Email Strategy in Sales [09:28] “There's no such thing as a good list, you have to verify everything," Jeff states, underscoring the necessity of due diligence in sales prospecting. "A lot of people skip these steps and then wonder why their email campaigns aren't effective. It's about the discipline in verification, and then actually getting out there and confirming email addresses.” Jeff continues, emphasizing, "This is what separates the successful outreach from the noise in your inbox." Topic #2 The Art of Writing Sales Emails [17:45] Jeff explains the nuanced craft of engaging potential clients via email. “Avoid traditional greetings and close with something unexpected. Use an ampersand, keep it short, and stay away from jargon that makes your email cringey,” he advises. Brandi adds, “It's about connecting with the person on the other end, understanding their problem, and presenting your email as a conversation starter, not just a pitch.” Topic #3 Integrating Technology and Email Sequences [31:09] “Technology now plays a bigger role in making sure our emails get noticed,” Jeff remarks, discussing the evolution of email tools. “We've moved from just crafting content to focusing on how to get our emails into the eyes of decision-makers.” He shares, “A successful email sequence involves multiple touchpoints over weeks, combining emailing with calling, respecting the cool-off periods, and constantly testing our strategies to optimize for response rates.” This approach, he notes, is crucial for maintaining domain health and avoiding being blacklisted. So, What's the One Thing You Can Do Today? Jeff advises revenue leaders to base their sales planning and budgeting on the number of meetings rather than traditional sales quotas. He suggests assessing how many meetings are held, which channels are used, and the closure rates of each channel. By focusing on these metrics, leaders can create more accurate and reliable forecasts, transitioning from quota-based forecasting to a model that emphasizes the effectiveness of meetings in generating sales. Buzzword Banishment: Jeff Winters' Buzzword to Banish is the term "value add." He expresses his disdain for the phrase by explaining, “It's just so overused and nebulous. Everyone throws it around without really understanding what actual value they're adding.” Jeff wants to rid the business world of this term to encourage clearer, more meaningful communications.

Within 75th Ranger Regiment there are many military occupational skills that are supporting roles known as "low density". Although many are within the Regimental Special Troops Battalion (RSTB) at Fort Moore (aka Ft. Benning), there are also opportunities to join units within each battalion. We sat down with six non-commissioned officers in the Darby Room of the 75th Ranger Regiment HQ. RSTB provides the 75th Ranger Regiment and U.S. Army Special Operations Command with increased operational capabilities to sustained combat operations. RSTB conducts command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance functions in support of the 75th Ranger Regiment and other special operation task forces in order to enable the execution of joint special operations anywhere in the world. Additionally, RSTB provides qualified, trained and ready Rangers to sustain the Ranger Force. The 75th Ranger Regiment is a lethal, agile and flexible force, capable of conducting many complex, joint special operations missions. Today's Ranger regiment is the Army's premier direct-action raid force. Each of the four geographically dispersed Ranger battalions is always combat ready, mentally and physically tough, and prepared to fight our country's adversaries. Their capabilities include conducting airborne and air assault operations, seizing key terrain such as airfields, destroying strategic facilities, and capturing or killing enemies of the nation. Rangers are capable of conducting squad through regimental-size operations and are resourced to maintain exceptional proficiency, experience and readiness. The regiment remains an all-volunteer force with an intensive screening and selection process followed by combat-focused training. The 75th Ranger Regiment is a proud unit and a team of teams - serving the nation. What First World War cultural representations would you like to see adapted for the screen? This month Angus, Chris and Jessica discuss their dream adaptations of novels, short stories and computer games for the big or small screen. Along the way, we explore what makes for a good film versus a good television series, we consider how to overcome the challenge of the Bechdel test in filming the war, and Chris introduces us to the Bertie Wooster/animé scale of realism. Today's guest is Kelsey Jang, who is an Army Company Commander, CrossFit athlete, and rugby player. I asked her onto the show because she's stepping into the world of real estate investing in a way that is both simple and relatable. In this episode, I have her to share her experience with buying her first rental property (priced at $110K with 10% down), in order to provide you with an example for how she got started. As you all know, I talk about real estate a lot—because I own residential rental properties, an AirBnb property, and a variety of commercial real estate, including multi-family, industrial, and self storage assets—but I want to feature her story because she's just getting started—which is probably were a lot of you are at. As brief background on Kelsey, she's also an elite rugby player, she's a talented CrossFit athlete and coach, and she was commissioned into the Army as an Engineer Officer and is currently serving as the Company Commander of Bravo Company, 249th Engineer Battalion at Fort Bragg, NC. She has a Civil Engineering degree from West Point and a Master's degree in Engineering Management from the University of Louisville. She also completed Sapper School and has her Sapper tab. You're going to learn a lot from her today, especially if you're looking to become a real estate investor and don't know where to start. So, Kelsey, welcome to the show! ACL Rehab and Performance Lab Specialist, Laura SapperLaura and I dive into ACL tears: why are there so many ACL injuries these days? Why is re-tear rate so high? How can we better prepare these athletes to return to sport? As rehab professionals, we need to place the emphasis on the ATHLETE, not just the tear. There are more athletes than ever tearing their ACL, and unfortunately, standard care isn't cutting it. 20-25% of these athletes are re-tearing and having to start over. The problems of the ACLer are multifactorial, but there's a lot of ways the system could be better built to serve this population. That's where the ACL Performance Lab comes in - Laura talks about why she chose to specialize in treating athletes with ACL injuries and how she's elevating ACL rehab: @made2move_ACLwww.made2movept.com/acl-rehab-program
