Helen Joyce, author of Trans: When Ideology Meets Reality, sits down with Bridget for an in-depth conversation about the trans activist movement, what inspired her to write the book, what's changed since the book came out in 2021, the bullshit idea that everything can be blamed on feminism, the detransitioners she's met, and how the trans movement is sending women's rights back to the dark ages. They discuss the sense that women have been abandoned in the culture wars, queer theory, the rise of conspiratorial thinking, how much faith she used to have in the institutions of our society and why she no longer trusts them, the definition of a moral injury, how gender ideology breaks things in exactly the place they're meant to work, being told that it's a civil right to choose your gender, why she feels she's doing exactly what she's supposed to be doing, and why you should never validate the delusion because you will lose control of the ward.Bridget Phetasy admires grit and authenticity. On Walk-Ins Welcome, she talks about the beautiful failures and frightening successes of her own life and the lives of her guests. She doesn't conduct interviews—she has conversations. Conversations with real people about the real struggle and will remind you that we can laugh in pain and cry in joy but there's no greater mistake than hiding from it all. By embracing it all, and celebrating it with the stories she'll bring listeners, she believes that our lowest moments can be the building blocks for our eventual fulfillment.Beyond Parody with Bridget Phetasy is a reader-supported publication. Kristin Russo - When a child or teen comes out to their parents as gay, parents are often left with many unanswered questions fueled by fear, lack of knowledge or concerns about the wellbeing of their child. The conversations that need to take place are not as much about you answering questions for your child but about your child answering questions for you. Your child has likely been navigating the coming-out process for quite some time, now, you will be faced with decisions about how you will react to the information. How will you share this information with others? How can you best support your child? What if you fear for their safety? What's the deal with pronouns? You might also grapple with how your child's sexuality fits in with your faith, your previous hopes and dreams for them and your relationship. Well, it doesn't make sense to stick our heads in the sand. It's time to learn the answers for everyday questions and concerns when you are a parent, aunt/uncle, teacher, grandparents of loved one of a kid who is gay. For guidance on this topic we have Kristin Russo on the show today. Then in our main topic we discuss what it's like to grow up as a gay child. With so much anti-lgbtq+ legislation going on in the United States and the world we decided we needed to take you all back to the reality of what it's like to grow up knowing you're "different" and how it affected us. This is a great episode for parents of gay children, or parents who might think that their child is "different".

"My topic for today is how to prepare for your child's coming out. In honor of Pride Month, it seemed like a good time to record this topic. And obviously, if you're listening to this and your child is not out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, this is a hypothetical preparation of some sort. But it's important to think about because you never know, this might be a part of your journey as a parent."   This week on the 3D Parent Podcast, we will be talking about preparing for your child's coming out, which can be a hypothetical situation for some parents but remains vitally important to talk about. I will be sharing some tips on what to avoid when a child comes out and ways you can show your support of their decision.   We will go over topics such as:    My son's own experience of coming out, and different factors that helped or hindered the process.  What to do when your child comes (and what to definitely NOT do or say!) Why the coming out of a child should lead to the whole family “coming out” as well.  After a child comes out, parents often move through different stages similar to grief. We may feel that we've lost the future we imagined for our child...but those are our dreams, not theirs. And at the end of the day, your kid is still the same wonderful person they were before they came out, and I hope this podcast episode reminds you of that!  If you enjoyed this episode of the podcast, take a screenshot, head on over to Instagram and share it your IG stories and tag me, @the3Dparent  Do you have a parenting question for an upcoming episode? What’s the deal with pronouns? You might also grapple with how your child’s sexuality fits in with your faith, your previous hopes and dreams for them and your relationship. Well, it doesn’t make sense to stick our heads in the sand. It’s time to learn the answers for everyday questions and concerns when you are a parent, aunt/uncle, teacher, grandparents of loved one of a kid who is gay. For guidance on this topic we have Kristin Russo on the show today. Joe and Anea welcome Kristin Russo, author of This Is a Book for Parents of Gay Kids, and together they explore the challenges parents face when their child 'comes out' as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. Just as it can be extremely difficult for an adolescent to navigate 'coming out' to their family, many parents also face a 'coming-out-as-the-parent-of-a-gay-child' process of their own, usually with no map or guide on how to do so in a supportive, loving and accepting way.
