It's now official, the Sound of Freedom, the movie that Hollywood elites have tried to shut down for the past five years, has skyrocketed to the number-one movie in the nation! This is an incredible story that's going to inspire you like nothing else! Highlights: ● “Both Trump and Musk have been instrumental in getting the word out, and it's working! The Sound of Freedom is not only beating out Indiana Jones, but it's also doing so despite the fact that it's being seen in only half the theaters." ● "As Newsweek said, this is a box office coup. The elites in Hollywood dictate the box office only as long as we allow them to." ● “What I LOVE about this movie so much is that its creators and producers never gave up on it. Remember, it was finished five years ago! For five freaking years, no one in Hollywood would touch it! It was a film all dressed up with nowhere to go! And yet, despite these obstacles, these patriots never gave up! And now, it's the number-one film in the nation!” Timestamps: [00:49] The Sound of Freedom movie on fire at the box office and being endorsed by Trump and Elon Musk [02:56] Why this movie has been intentionally suppressed by Hollywood elites for the last five years [06:26] On the world of child trafficking and how the movie is making an impact on people [08:45] The lesson that we can all learn from here Resources: ● Want free inside stock tips straight from the SEC? In today's episode, Pt 3 of No Longer Blind!, we recognize that the true gift Jesus gave the blind beggar was NOT the gift of physical sight. It was far greater! And Jesus has that gift ready and available for you as well. Join Julie Jenkins for the conclusion to this 3-part teaching on John 9. (John 9:34-41) *** Welcome to Walking in the Word, the biblical teaching arm of the Women World Leaders podcast. I'm your host, Julie Jenkins. If this is your first time joining us. welcome. I encourage you to check out our previous podcasts as well as visit our website, www.womenworldleaders.com. Our goal at Women World Leaders is to empower you to walk in your God-given purpose. Some of the ways we do that are through teachings, devotions, prayer, books, the Voice of Truth magazine, and events! In fact, we have an in-person event in West Palm Beach THIS weekend!! We would LOVE you to join us if you are in the area! One of the best ways you can grow in your God-given purpose is to get involved. God has a place for you in this ministry. We often say that we are reaching over 70 countries, but did you know that we also have leaders in our ministry from several different countries? The devil certainly knows how to use technology, but so does God. COVID pushed us into a digital platform, and what the devil meant for evil, God used for good. One example is that we meet the fourth Monday of every month for a zoom prayer call. We gather and pray for specific needs for those on the call as well as for the needs of the ministry. If you would like to be involved, no matter where you are, send us an email at info@womenworldleaders.com or fill out the contact form on our website – www.Womenworldleaders.com On this, the Wednesday edition of the podcast we have the opportunity to walk through the Word of God together. And currently we are walking through the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Before we begin, let's pray. Dear Most Holy God, as we dive into your teaching today, I ask that you be with us and show us clearly what you want us to learn. God, your Word is living and active and we know that it will meet us where we are. It is you, Holy Spirit, who allows us to know your thoughts, direction, and love for us as we read Scripture. God cleanse us of all unrighteousness that we may hear your voice clearly. In Jesus' name I pray, amen. This week, we are studying Part 3 of John chapter 9, which teaches us about Jesus healing the man who was blind from birth. Allow me to set the scene briefly, and then we will dive into today's conclusion to this chapter as we study John 9:35-41 from the New Living Translation. Jesus had been teaching at the temple, and as He and His disciples were leaving, they came across a beggar who had been blind from birth. The disciples asked Jesus if it was the man's sins or his parents sins that had caused his blindness. Jesus replied, “It was not because of his sins or his parents' sins,” … “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him. Then Jesus proceeded to spit in the dirt, making mud, which he rubbed on the man's eyes. He then instructed the man to go to the pool and rinse the mud, and the man's vision was healed. It was the Sabbath, and as healing was not permitted on the Sabbath, the man was taken to the Pharisees, who asked him about the incident… The man simply gave the facts as he knew them, saying - I was blind, but now I can see. They asked the man about who had healed him…to which he said, “I think he must be a prophet.” The questioning went on, and the formerly blind man held his ground, simply re-stating his story. And finally, calling the Pharisees out for dogging on his healer, saying… “He healed my eyes, and yet you don't know where he comes from? 31 We know that God doesn't listen to sinners, but he is ready to hear those who worship him and do his will. 32 Ever since the world began, no one has been able to open the eyes of someone born blind. 33 If this man were not from God, he couldn't have done it.” At this statement, the Pharisees threw the man out of the synagogue. And this is where we pick up the story today… Let's begin with John 9:35… 35 When Jesus heard what had happened, he found the man… The Pharisees had THROWN the man out of the synagogue for speaking truth. That sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it? Aren't our places of worship supposed to be places where God's truth reigns? We must take this as a warning. I don't want to speak ill of the church – I love the church and she is the bride of Christ. BUT…all churches are made of people. And people are sinful. So we must be careful – even in church. Throughout the Bible, we are taught to be aware of false prophets – to think on our feet, trusting God to help us discern wisely EVEN that which is taught by and in the church. The apostle Paul writes in Romans 16:17-18… Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people's faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them. 18 Such people are not serving Christ our Lord; they are serving their own personal interests. By smooth talk and glowing words they deceive innocent people. What I LOVE about today's teaching is that no sooner than religion failed the man, JESUS found him. The man was THROWN OUT of the synagogue by men who were more concerned with their own welfare than bringing people to faith. Despite this, that wasn't the end of the story for the man thrown out – Jesus HIMSELF found him. And when He found him, Jesus asked him… “Do you believe in the Son of Man?[c]” Remember, this newly-sighted guy had never SEEN Jesus, the one he had just professed to be a prophet – he had only heard his voice. But having relied on his hearing for his whole life, there is no doubt in my mind that he recognized the voice of his healer. And he IMMEDIATELY responds to this rabbi who has already given him so much… “Who is he, sir? I want to believe in him.” The now-sighted man was ready to jump on board with whatever this prophet said – he trusted him as his leader. You have probably heard the leadership adage – People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. Jesus had shown the beggar HOW MUCH he cared! This man had been ostracized from everyone – the disciples had seen him as a sinner, people who walked by saw him as a beggar, and the Pharisees saw him as a means to an end. He was a castaway of society. But JESUS SAW him! Jesus physically touched Him. Jesus cared for him and even healed him – gifting him with vision – something he had NEVER experienced. This man cared what Jesus knew because he knew how much Jesus cared. So he asked Jesus – Who IS the Son of Man? I want to believe in HIM! 37 “You have seen him,” Jesus said, “and he is speaking to you!” 38 “Yes, Lord, I believe!” the man said. And he worshiped Jesus. That man had had quite a day. He had gone from his normal agenda of begging on the side of the road to being spoken to by a group led by a rabbi who then put mud on his eyes and healed his sight. Then he was addressed, maybe for the first time, by people who had seen HIM every day but hadn't bothered to give him the time of day. His parents were brought onsite – but they were too afraid about getting in trouble to celebrate that their SON had been given sight. Then he was questioned about his healer, and he boldly proclaimed him to be a prophet. With every step, the man grew. God was fast-tracking this man to Christianity. Jesus not only made it possible for him to see physically, but this man received a far greater gift. He could now spiritually see and recognize His Messiah. And his response? He WORSHIPPED Jesus!! Do WE worship JESUS when we see Him? He is everywhere – in our every day! If we doubt, we too can ask, “Who are you, Jesus – I want to believe!” If we are blind, we can ask Him to heal OUR vision. If you have ANY questions about faith, please don't ever hesitate to ask our God in prayer. He WILL show you! And if you need someone to talk to or pray with you about faith, please don't hesistate to reach out to us at prayer@womenworldleaders.com Verse 39… 39 Then Jesus told him,[d] “I entered this world to render judgment—to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they see[e] that they are blind.” Jesus came to reveal the truth to us about God's worth and our unworthiness. Any leader will tell you that speaking truth can cause division. But Jesus spoke truth in love as He offered an open invitation to everyone to join Him in God's kingdom for eternity. Make no mistake that any division that comes from the truth of Jesus Christ stems from the sheer disobedience to not accept His teaching. Verse 40… 40 Some Pharisees who were standing nearby heard him and asked, “Are you saying we're blind?” 41 “If you were blind, you wouldn't be guilty,” Jesus replied. “But you remain guilty because you claim you can see. The Pharisees had a chip on their shoulders. They wanted to be in control and they wanted to be right. They did not want to learn or grow. One of my favorite prayers is to ask God to make me teachable. I am currently taking a class at my church and we have a couple of ground rules. One of them is, there is only one expert. The one expert is Jesus Christ. Only Jesus has the whole story. Only Jesus understands complete truth. Only Jesus can heal and protect and guide us with all wisdom. And do you know what? Jesus is available to us every moment of every day, ready to respond to every question and need that may cross our minds. The man was not blind from birth due to HIS sins OR his parents' sins. He was blind SO THAT the glory of God could be revealed in Him. Jesus' healing of this man's physical sight was an illustration of the healing God offers EACH of us for our spiritual sight. He WANTS us to see Him, to come to Him, to rely on Him. He is our Creator, Sustainer, and our ALL-IN-ALL. Listen for His voice. Follow His call. And allow Him to show you things beyond your wildest imagination! Let's pray… Dear Most Holy God…today I thank you for the blind man. It seems crazy that you could use a blind beggar who lived over 2000 years ago to teach us today. I think of the days he wondered why his life was so difficult – I know he didn't have ME in mind! But God, you did – and I thank you! God, when my life gets difficult, I ask you to remind ME that you are working in and through me. When I have a difficult time believing, I ask that you show yourself to me. When I feel prideful, I pray that you make my heart teachable. And when I question, Father, remind me to bring my questions to YOU. We worship you today – rightfully giving you all the praise and glory. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

I have always been an explorer with regard to self-help, personal growth, therapy, recovery and the like. This year I began hearing of people's experiences with plant medicines as a means of doing deeper work on the mental and physical pain that can significantly impact our lives. AND then I met Dr. Alya Ahmad and Dr. Tasnim Khan - two physicians (and sisters) with stunning resumes and extensive experience in medicine and patient care - who left conventional medicine and started their own practice providing Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. Their team is alleviating their clients' suffering from conditions such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, chronic pain and more. What I LOVE is the path that brought them to this space. These are two doctors who finally acknowledged that they, as healers, needed help too. In their words, “We can only be as good for our patients as we are for ourselves…” Yes, to that, count me in.Ketamine is legal and many are familiar with it as an anesthetic. But when used in a supervised and intentional setting it also relaxes a patient to a place where the nervous system is disarmed, mental chatter can be quieted, and deeper therapeutic work can begin. We talk all things Ketamine as it relates to our personal healing journeys and my mind is forever shifted as to what is possible. Our Guests:Dr. Tasnim Khan is a Primary Care Physician and Harvard University trained health care executive with over 27 years of experience in the healthcare field. She has owned, operated, and profitably exited health care practices and an IPA in the US and in the Middle East.As a healthcare executive, Dr Khan has held leadership roles in private and public organizations in the US and abroad in countries such as Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. She led key nationwide innovative initiatives such as building a social health insurance scheme in Qatar ahead of the FIFA world cup event, private equity greenfield and brownfield launches of multispecialty clinics and hospitals in Dubai and the UK. Dr Khan also has deep experience in the health insurance sector, with her experiences working for United Healthcare, Aetna International and a large independent physician association in the Bay Area. She has also been a key member of the non-profit health sector in Sacramento, providing healthcare access to the underserved, uninsured and refugee populations.Yet, her deepest passion lies in helping people optimize their wellbeing and advocate for their health despite a very complicated and fragmented health care system. She is constantly seeking ways to extend health span and focus on prevention rather than the sick model of care that is embedded in current treatment paradigms of our health care system. The opportunity to offer people a refreshed model of care also includes mental health. The modalities to address mental health are rapidly changing and replacing the dated therapeutics and approaches that are no longer serving peoples needs to heal from within. Dr Khan is excited to be able to learn, teach and offer these new treatment paradigms to people in need. IN 2021, she partnered with a colleague to open one of Sacramento's first holistic mental health center, providing legal psychedelics with therapy and holistic wellness.Dr. Alya Ahmad is a former Associate Professor of Pediatrics at UCSF, with experience in academic and private settings overseas and in Texas and California. She is fellowship trained in Integrative Medicine, psychedelic-assisted therapy, and Ketamine-assisted therapy. Episode 15 is a warrior story and our guest is Monica of waitingforbabywunder Monica is a warrior is so many ways, but today we talk about her challenges on her IVF journey. Monica has some anatomic variations that make carrying a pregnancy difficult, but add on to that infertility and this makes for a very unique journey. This episode is a longer episode because we just had a great time chatting and she was just so open about her experiences and feelings in an effort to help us all. Like luckybabylam, she shares with us her resources and I'm so grateful for this. What I LOVE about Monica is that she is so genuine, smart, kind, thoughtful, and absolutely hysterical. She was a joy to be around and just a lovely human. A couple of things I want to mention. As always, we're not physicians and the information provided today is for educational and informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Make sure that you consult with your own fertility doctor before choosing any medical therapies that may affect your fertility. Unfortunately, every person's situation is unique and it is vital that you discuss your personal situation with your own fertility doctor to decide what is the best course of action for you. Please also make sure that you are taking your medications as prescribed by your physician.. Heads up - there is explicit language on this episode, so just be mindful where you're playing this. Mahogany Brown is Lincoln Center's first-ever poet in residence. She believes poetry is a tool for transformation. But Browne does much more than write poetry. She's also the executive director of Just Media, a media literacy organization. And she has authored several books including Black Girl Magic, Chlorine Sky, and “I Remember Death by Its Proximity to What I Love.” A key part of her residency at Lincoln Center is putting on poetry and art events – Including the Woke Baby Book Fair – a celebration of social justice children's books. Through her work as a curator, she's focused on giving voice to underrepresented poets – including children and artists from black and brown communities many of whom were first-time performers at Lincoln Center. This summer will mark a year into her residency. So I spoke with her today about her practice as a poet and curator and asked her what it means to her to be the first-ever poet in residence.
Welcome to Season 4 of Dream Plan Action! In this episode I'm giving my hot takes on Atomic Habits and many of the similar habit-building hacks and methods out there. There are a lot of valuable takeaways from the popular book, but I'm not sold all the way on its effectiveness. Especially to those who are feeling lost and overwhelmed, like I was when I was taking all these productivity courses, approaches like Atomic Habits could be misdirecting our energies into the wrong habits that don't actually help us move the needle, or at worst, trap us in a cycle of our own negativity. So let's talk about it. Here's what I discuss in this episode: What I LOVE about the book is the emphasis on the power of slow growth. However, no habit-building method actually shows you HOW to select your goals and habits. It's not always healthy to mask the low periods we're going through with productivity just for the sake of productivity. I was imitating a lot of “healthy habits” I saw on Instagram, not necessarily because they were best for me, but because I was comparing my own life to these folks who looked like they had it together. This created a cycle of me beating myself up for being “lazy” and “unmotivated” In fact, we need to work backwards from the FEELING we want to embody, and choose habits that will create that feeling within us. No one can tell you what health, happiness, or success looks like in your life. You get to define it for yourself. Song of Solomon 5: What I Love about You | Considered one of the racier chapters of the book, this chapter speaks of sexual longing in the night during a dream seqence. The dream turns to a nightmare, when she wanders the streets in search of him, and is abused by the night watchmen.Journey 15 | Savior. Journey Fifteen focuses on our great Savior, Jesus Christ. The book of Matthew reveals Jesus as the Promised One of the nation of Israel and the coming King of Kings. Hebrews connects the OT to the NT and reminds us that Jesus is better than whatever we left behind. Then James teaches us how to live in light of the Kingdom of God. In the OT, we look at romance in Song of Solomon and a falling empire in 1 Chronicles and Nahum. This week we welcome Grammy award-winning country star, John Berry! GRAMMY Award-winning country star John Berry celebrates 42 years as a Country music performer. In 2020 Grammy award-winning country star, John Berry took advantage of being off the road. Highlights include partnering with Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt for his weekly series, "Songs and Stories For Kids," which charted multiple times on the Pollstar Live Stream Chart. He released a new video and re-recorded a new single for "The Graduation Song," started his new podcast, Faith Family & Friends and is ending the year with his 24th annual Songs and Stories with John Berry Christmas. In 2019 John Berry celebrated the 28th anniversary since signing his first record deal with his most recent single “The Richest Man” from the new album Thomas Road. In 2019, Berry was diagnosed with throat cancer, requiring 35 treatments combined of radiation and chemotherapy. In 2018 charted at #30 on the Music Row Breakout Charts with the single, “Beautifully Broken,” which is featured in the soundtrack for the movie of the same name. The singer-songwriter rose to stardom on the country charts of the 1990s with such mega hits as Your Love Amazes Me, Standing on the Edge of Goodbye and She’s Taken a Shine. His annual Christmas tours brighten the holidays for thousands, as does his electrifying rendition of O’ Holy Night. During the 90’s and early 2000’s, John placed 20 singles on the country charts, 6 of which went Top 5, with Your Love Amazes Me, scoring a #1 on the Billboard and Radio & Records Country Chart as well as Standing on the Edge of Goodbye and She’s Taken a Shine earning the #1 slot in Radio & Records. He has earned multiple Gold and Platinum records over the years. John was nominated for the ACM Top New Male Vocalist in 1994, won a Grammy Award in 1996 for his participation in Amazing Grace: A Country Salute to Gospel Vol. 1, was nominated for another Grammy in 1995 for his smash hit Your Love Amazes Me and was nominated for the CMA Horizon Award and Top Male Vocalist Award in 1995. In 1997 he was nominated for Vocal Event of the Year (for Long Haired Country Boy with Charlie Daniels and Hal Ketchum) and in 2013 John was nominated for the Mainstream Country Male Artist by the ICM Awards. And thanks to the miracles of modern technology, he even sang a duet with the late, great Patsy Cline. “I love what I do, with a passion not seen in quite some time. I’m hopeful and excited about the future. I love singing and always will. I have a bus, an incredible stage presentation, a great band, hands-on management team and I’m always all dressed up and ready to go.” John’s enduringly powerful performances draw on a lifetime of making music and living life. Born in South Carolina and raised in Georgia, he began playing guitar at 13, performing shows at age 14 and making records at age 19. “By the time I was 17, I knew that music was what I wanted to do with my life”; and he has done it well ever since. Between 1979 and 1990 he recorded and marketed six albums on his own labels. The Graduation Song, which he wrote during his senior year in high school, became a perennial favorite at graduation ceremonies. It appeared on two of his early collections. Those early discs and John’s strong regional popularity attracted attention on Music Row. Capitol Records signed him to his first major label contract in 1992. Berry’s co-written hits A Mind of Her Own and Kiss Me in the Car introduced him to radio audiences in 1993. Then Your Love Amazes Me, What’s in it for Me and You and Only You thrust him to stardom in 1994. Standing on the Edge of Goodbye, I Think About it all the Time, and If I Had Any Pride Left at All were all major hits the following year, with Standing on the Edge of Goodbye earning John the coveted 1995 Grammy nomination. But it was his stunning performance of the title track of the 1995 CD O’ Holy Night that led to his most enduring legacy to date. John began doing special Christmas tours that year and 2016 marks his 20th anniversary holiday concert tour. He has big plans to celebrate and involve the fans like never before for this anniversary celebration. He has also issued three more Christmas-music collections. If O’ Holy Night is all that anyone remembers of me, that’s fine with me,” he comments about his perennial Christmas popularity. “It is a truly inspired piece of music.” Happily, there were more successes to come. The hit Change My Mind earned John a Top-5 spot on the Country music charts in 1996. She’s Taken a Shine became an even bigger hit in 1997. Both fans and the media took note again when There He Goes was released as a 1999 duet with Patsy Cline. In 2002, Berry returned to making records for his own company, Clear Sky Records. Songs and Stories, a double CD was issued that year. In 2003, John Berry released his I Give My Heart collection and its critically applauded wedding anthem Will You Marry Me. The disc also contained his versions of such classic love songs as Time in a Bottle, If, Love Look What You’ve Done to Me, Faithfully, Lady and Let’s Stay Together. I Give My Heart inspired still another popular concert series, The Love Tour. In 2008, Those Were the Days, was released, marking John’s return to mainstream country music. He created his first Christian-music CD in 2011. In 2012, John published the combination book and CD, again titled Songs and Stories. Over the years he has continued to tour steadily. “We just have a great group of fans who welcome us every year. They are always there.” In late 2015 John launched a crowd funded Kickstarter project that proved very successful. Overwhelmed by the fan response, John assembled an all-star studio team and cut both a Country album entitled What I Love the Most and a new album simply titled Christmas and released both in late 2016. Blessed with the ability to make the music he wanted to make (and not what a label dictated) allowed John the time to write and create what many music critics who have heard bits & pieces are saying could be his best, most complete project yet. “I'm excited to have been able to release this new music and bring it to the fans through a new distribution agreement with Sony RED. It’s a new time in the music business and technology allows me to be closer to my fans and interact in new ways. You know, God just keeps blessing me. There are new opportunities coming at every turn.” “With time, I’ve learned that the road to fulfillment is doing what I was called to do, love to do, and then doing it the best I can, regardless of the circumstances. And for me, that is making music and singing for people." 2017 found John touring in several configurations (acoustic solo, acoustic trio and full band) with plans to release another new album followed by the continuation of his legendary Christmas Tour. He and his family moved back to Music City after several years in Georgia, and 2017 saw John pursuing a touring and personal appearance schedule that is more active than ever. Given his wide range of music and number of releases, John is fortunate in that he can book a solo show with just himself and guitar, a small-band acoustic show or a full-band engagement and has more than enough hit material to captivate a crowd and deliver an evening full of musical memories. Also, in August of 2017 John launched a new, weekly internationally syndicated television show entitled Songs and Stories with John Berry that explored the songs and stories that changed the lives of his weekly guest. Superstar guests in Season 1 of the show included Billy Ray Cyrus, Billy Dean, Mo Pitney, Neal McCoy, Suzy Bogguss, Collin Raye, Craig Morgan, Mark Wills, Delbert McClinton, Clay Walker and Lee Roy Parnell. 2018 John celebrated his 25t h anniversary since signing his major label deal, Season 2 of Songs and Stories with John Berry aired multiple times weekly to over 105 million homes across the United States as well as the UK and New Zealand on great networks like Heartland Television, The Family Channel, The Country Channel, Phil Mack’s Keep it Country (UK), Country TV (New Zealand) and AMGTV. In 2018 charted at #30 on the Music Row Breakout Charts with the single, “Beautifully Broken,” which is featured in the soundtrack for the movie of the same name. John also toured the country in all performance sectors, releasing several new projects and a few surprises. 2019 continued to celebrate the 26th anniversary since signing his first record deal with his most recent single “The Richest Man” from the new album Thomas Road. In January 2019 , Berry was diagnosed with throat cancer, requiring 35 treatments combined of radiation and chemotherapy. A benefit concert was held with performers such as Garth Brooks, The Oak Ridge Boys, Vince Gill and over 24 other high profile entertainers from Country, Americana and Rock, raising funds to offset his out of pocket medical expenses, while also donating a significant portion of the proceeds earned to others in the music community in need via Music Health Alliance. 2020 has many as of yet undisclosed plans which will include his annual John Berry Songs and Stories Christmas Tour, marking its 24th year. Stay tuned to all of his activities at www.johnberry.com or via social media

In this episode, I talk with Keith Condliffe Naturopathic Doctor and deeply insightful human I have been working with for a number of years. I asked Dr. Keith to come on to share his perspective on COVID19 and perhaps help ease our minds and give us some ideas on a few ways we can support ourselves naturally during this time.A little background on Dr. Keith, he has been practicing naturopathic medicine for 12 years in Vancouver BC and recently made the leap across the water to beautiful Comox on Vancouver Island. What I LOVE about how Dr. Keith practices, and one of the reasons why I think he’s so sought after, is that he uses a bioenergetic technique called Elemental Medicine. Essentially, he scans your energy and has a conversation with your energetic field to determine what would best support your body. It’s very gentle, powerful, and, in my opinion, incredibly cool. Some things we touch on in this episode include the relation between fear and viral energy, the important reminder COVID19 is providing us, the power of nature and plants, how to ground and soothe anxious energy, what organs to support now, and the natural healing modalities that might be helpful to look into now.Ok, that’s it for now. I hope you find this special mini-episode supportive.Your Host - Katie B

Great things are happening every day in La Crosse public schools. Hear first-hand from teachers on the front lines about how the La Crosse Public Education Foundation is strengthening the community, one student at a time.To make a donation please visit our website https://lacrosseeducationfoundation.org/Jeanne Halderson is a 7th-grade language arts and social studies teacher at Longfellow Middle School. Transcription is for seo purposes and is not 100% accurate.Welcome to Goldstar educators, a podcast from the La Crosse public education foundation. Great things are happening every day lacrosse public schools hear first-hand from teachers that are on the front lines about how this nonprofit education foundation is strengthening our community, one student at a time that I never take me love seventh grade and I look back on my favorite year of my entire schooling came through college that great is still my favorite year to Jean Halderson is a Cooley pod. Teachers seventh grade teacher. By the way, teaches social studies and language arts at Longfellow middle school. I really don't think that the public knows all the things of the La Crosse public education foundation does to help out our students. There are so many things that that I know for me the foundation I weave my way of thinking if I got to be a better way to see something a person always involves money right because I needed some kind of cheerio I need some kind of experience and it wasn't everything that the regular school budget could pay for and sell because I'm one of those dreamer type teachers and I dream about what you I would write grants and there's someone out there that believe that there is something more creative and innovative to. That's why the foundation works and I'm guessing that most people don't know all of the amazing things that happened in our school district because of the foundation. Tell me about one of the grants you've written to you lately when I've been writing grants. I've been writing on, or all three. No school so that everybody benefits. One of the things that I wrote a grant for was green screens for the classrooms and for the library so that kids could take their iPads and use the green screen technology just like they do is you know the weatherman and they could transfer themselves to different countries they could pretend like they were different people and so it really fit every single on subject matter and so the foundation has provided green screens for all three schools. We have the green screen captains where the kids can put the whole green screen cast and I and you disappear gloves we have mass and really unique way for kids to show what they know in their learning about some kind of content. So when I went to school. What I would do is I would have to do a worksheet write the teacher give me a worksheet or textbook, and our kids are doing things that are creative and innovative when I find it you know a lot of people say why would you teach seventh grade their starting to get mouthy and all the things people say when you teach seventh grade, but if you teach seventh grade in a way that is created and exciting kids. I am to read and they get into their learning increase in don't even realize how much they're doing and that's what the green screens have done for our kids. It allowed them to share what they know in ways other than worksheets and in the process really learn more and become more engaged with each other what the random act of kindness that the La Crosse public education foundation does not. So I'm in addition to my role as a teacher, I am a volunteer with Rhonda Longfellow middle school food pantry and so we have so many kids with so many me and I think that's another hidden secret that not everybody knows about you. There is no we have kids that come to school and they don't have food. They don't have afterschool sacks. One of the things that we had been aside right away that middle school kids don't have is some of your basic necessities that many parents just think everyone should have the random acts of kindness we've been able to make sure that all of our kids have underwear all of our kids. All of Our Girls Have Undergarments and so Usually It's Something That Most People Just Assume That Everybody Has Underwear, but They Don't Know What We Do without the Reading Acts of Kindness. What I Love about the La Crosse Public Education Foundation Is Their Sole Mission Is to Make School Better for Kids in the Car As a Teacher Who Has Called upon the Foundation Many Many Times I Just Can't Think Them More and I Appreciate so Much That Their Mission Is to Help All Is Not What Is Cost Public Schools Is a Workable Cost of Public Education for the Foundations of Hands-On Private Fundraising to Provide Grants to Teachers and Money for Rent the Backs of Crime Is to Address Students the Green off the Coast with Self-Esteem and Academic Success. Hey Weight Loss Nation! www.TheWeightLossNation.com It's Tuesday.....A Tampa Bay Tuesday as a matter of fact! I'll be reviewing a local restaurant in the Tampa Bay area. For those of you vacationing in the Tampa area, or...... for those of you who live in the Tampa Bay area and are looking for a restaurant with "healthy options" on their menu, this is for YOU! Today, I'm reviewing .......... Thai Sweet Basil. A Traditional "Thai Cuisine" restaurant, that is located in the Northdale - Carollwood section of Tampa. #ThaiSweetBasil is located at 3875 Northdale Blvd, across from Whole Foods. The restaurant is owned by "Ally," who came to America 6 years ago. With a lifetime of cooking traditional Thai cuisine experience, Ally wanted to open her own "Thai" restaurant, to give the Tampa Bay area a place to go for delicious, traditional Thai food. Thai Sweet Basil won't disappoint! The decor is nothing to print a magazine article about. But...I wasn't there to review the decor. I was there to review the food! As soon as I was seated, Ally came over to my table and asked me if I had ever eaten at Thai Sweet Basil before. I told her it was my first time there and that I was excited to taste "traditional Thai" cuisine. I started with a cup of Tom Yum Goong Soup with Shrimp. The cup had a wonderful aroma, and I immediately saw fresh Basil. With mushrooms, Lemon grass, sweet shrimp and a delicate blend of fresh herbs and spices, the soup was a pleasant surprise. Great Flavor! The Tom Yum Goong Soup would be "bland" without the delicious herbs & spices. At $4.00 for a cup of the soup, it was delicious and reasonably priced. I then tried the Pad Thai, which is an entree with thin, rice noodles, fresh scallions, eggs, ground peanuts and a flavorful "Tamarin" sauce. Nice flavor! Next was the Red Curry with Chicken. The chicken was grilled, cooked to perfection and covered in a delicious red curry sauce. The entree comes with bamboo shoots, bell peppers in a coconut milk based sauce. Fresh Basil finishes off this yummy entree. I LOVE curry, and this item hits the mark! My server asked me how I wanted the entree prepared..... mild, hot, very hot or volcanic hot! I LOVED that! I asked for "mild" temperature and that's exactly what I received. What I LOVE about Thai Sweet Basil, is the fresh herbs and ingredients they use. All items are made "to order," and they use FRESH herbs daily! What's the difference between Herbs & Spices you ask?? Herbs come from the green, leafy part of the plant. That Basil Leaf that was on my Red Curry and in my soup, was a fresh, green leaf with the most beautiful aroma. Spices come from many different parts of the plant. They can come from the root of the plant, the stem, the seed, flower..... or even teh Bark of the tree or plant. Spices are usually dried. Coriander is the seed of the plant, which is sold as "ground" coriander or....as a whole seed. Dried and whole spices hold their flavor longer than herbs. Fresh herbs are best to serve the same day. REVIEW: For the Delicious flavor and aroma of all the items I tried, along with the superior attention I received from the staff.... Thai Sweet Basil gets a huge "3 Avocados." Congratulations! Well deserved! Thai Sweet Basil hours of business are: LUNCH - Monday through Saturday - 11:00am - 2:30pm DINNER - Monday thru Saturday 4:30pm - 9:30pm SUNDAY they are open from 3:00pm - 8:30pm Check out Thai Sweet Basil menu here: www.MyThaiSweetBasil.com You can dine-in or take out at Thai Sweet Basil. They do an "extensive" take out business using the "Amazon Restaurant" app. Download the Amazon Restaurant App and order your Dinner from Thai Sweet Basil tonight! Thai Sweet Basil has over "80" items to choose from on their delicious menu. Whether you're looking for fresh fish, Duck, vegitarian entrees, chicken, beef or pork entrees, Thai Sweet Basil will suit your needs! If you're visiting the Tampa Bay area, be sure to check out Thai Sweet Basil. You'll have a Delicious meal at a reasonable price for everyone in your family. We’ve spoken previously about niches and ideal readers and all that fun stuff that gives our blog a bit of direction but today I want to bring you some exercises I’ve completed recently that have reaaaaallly helped me focus in. Those are - finding the words that sum up your brand, finding your sweet spot and then translating it to branding - and I’ll go more into that in another episode and then next week, we’ll move on to creating a mission statement to sum it all up. Completing these exercises has REAAALLY gotten me motivated and now I’m using all my spare time creating content - and the results are showing in my traffic - because I’m not second guessing anything - everything feels like me! So let’s dive in shall we… Right guys, you’re going to need to take notes - so hopefully you’ve got some bits to hand. I want you to pause the podcast and spend a couple of minutes writing down words that excite you, that you love. Off ya go! Ok, you’re back haha - or maybe you never went and you just want me to crack on because you’ve only got 15 minutes left in the bath before you need another Diet Coke or your fingers go crinkly - I’M ON IT! I’ll share my words with you - funny, approachable, straight-talking, listen, inspire, strong, grow, learn, share, happy, honesty, trustworthy, awkward When I sat back and analysed why I’d chosen these words - it made sense. I like to think I’m funny. I’m always very approachable and I find that an important quality in others. I am SUPER straight-talking - I can’t stand fakeess and bullshit and I certainly don’t dish it out myself. I love to listen and learn and I also love to be listened to and to teach! I love the word strong because in everything that has happened to me over the last 2/3 years I’ve had to be very strong! And this year I really want to grow as a person and spend more time being happy. I’ve also got words like honesty and trustworthy - I am often too trusting and honest to a fault but these are characteristics I pride myself in and that I seek in others. And well, awkward, because I can be super awkward and awkward situations are the funniest to me! Now I want you to nail down those words to what your blog represents. Because they totally should align! Your blog and your channels are an extension of you, so if the words that mean the most to you are, ‘integrity, love and real’ then maybe think twice about that sponsored post for skinny teas that make you hate your body and probably shit yourself. - Do you see what I mean? With the episode show notes, I’m going to create a free downloadable resource where you can get some ideas for words if you’re stuck, plus an exercise in ‘packaging’ those words up to give you a clear brand message. So head there! I think it’s so important that we’ve been doing the work, through the podcast here, in reeeeaally nailing down our niche and who and what we are online. Trust me, when you have that moment of clarity of, ‘oh, yeah, this feels good, this feels like me’ EVERYTHING will fall into place. But now I’m going to bring you back to the episode I recorded with Cat from Gatto Web - make sure you listen to that one - where we talked a bit about sweet spots. Cat opened me up to that term and then I went away and did lots of thinking on it. She said that your brand sweet spot is the place exactly between everything YOU love and everything your reader loves. For example, your readers may be mid to late twenty something women who value honest reviews, straight talking advice and keeping it real BUT you may love everything whimsical, fantasy with a splash of magic. So how do you please both parties? And I know a lot of people only want to blog for themselves - and I totally love that. Remember there is no right or wrong way to blog! So those people may not really give a shit about what their readers want, as long as they’re happy. And I do really respect that! But as we’ve discussed over the last few episodes, and as I’m all about sharing my experiences with you - I know that way back when, when I was blogging about the guy who wouldn’t call me back, my Kylie Jenner lip kits and jeans - no one gave a shit. I’d have a few blogger pals read my stuff probably out of kindness and obligation, but it didn’t alight! Fast forward a couple of years and I started to realise what my audience liked - straight talking, honest, bare all, to the point discussions on what others were too afraid to say or too tight to share. So that’s how I framed my content! So think about that. You’ve got your words that mean the most to you - which of those would also mean the most to your readers? And if you don’t have a flipping Scooby - go and listen to the episode on Identifying An Ideal Reader, because it will really help you! I’d like for you to do another exercise now - on your phone notes or paper or whatever - and I want you to create two columns. One headed, ‘What I Love’ and the other headed, ‘What My Readers Love’ and I want you to make lists under each. Under ‘What I Love’ for example might be - beauty reviews, travel guides, think pieces and dating posts - and that might be why you’re a bit all over the place. Because you love talking about what you love! But in the other column, I want you to go to your Analytics and look at your most popular posts. I want you to look at your comments and see which ones people most engaged with. I want you to check your social media and see which blog posts got people talking the most. What do you notice? Because maybe your readers LOVE your travel posts but your beauty posts go unnoticed - you may like writing them but are you happy for them not to be as well received? Where’s the sweet spot? Another tool you could use - and maybe this is just for the LOLs is a website called SpyFu.com - you can use it to spy on competitors keywords and what they perform best with BUT you can also use it to see which of your keywords are performing best and stick that in the ‘What my readers love’ column. And honestly you need to listen to the state of mine…. (Fast forward a few seconds if you’ve got an uneasy disposition) but mine are, Dream Phone, Wide On, Cum With Your Fingers and Fingering Techniques. So you can see that my love of 90s nostalgia is a strong theme and you can also see that I used to NAIL the dating/sex blogging amirite. But let’s bring it back because fuck my life. We’ve got the key words that sum up our brand, we know who our ideal reader is, we know how to hit the sweet spot with our content - now what? Next we’re going to discuss how we can present that visually through branding! So I’ve got some homework for ya! I want you to create a Pinterest board called, ‘Exciting Emails Brand Vision Board’ and I want you to pin articles, pictures, colours, words, quotes - WHATEVER to represent what we’ve discussed today. Then come and share it in the Facebook group - www.facebook.com/groups/exciting_emails so we can give feedback! I also want you to come and tell me what your words are and what your sweet spot is - I’m interested! Until then though I’d love it if you could subscribe, leave a review and head over to my social channels - @vixmeldrew as I love a good natter. And I shall chat to you next time! Byeeee.
Welcome to Episode 29 of Among Women “Espresso Shot” – a short strong coffee break of faith sharing and teaching from Pat Gohn. Today’s topic: Seven Sorrows of Mary This is the 9th installment in a 12-part series on the monthly church devotions. In September we honor the Seven Sorrows of Mary. This is a great time to engage Mary our Mother — as we lift our sorrows to her. She knows us and she understands. We can take comfort in Mary’s strength that is found at the foot of the Cross. With the ever-expanding church sex-abuse scandals we are currently witnessing in the news, the call to devotion to Mary under her patronage of Our Lady of Sorrows, and to meditation upon the Seven Sorrows of Mary is very poignant, indeed. Welcome to Episode 28 of Among Women “Espresso Shot” – a short strong coffee break of faith sharing and teaching from Pat Gohn. Today’s topic: Devotion to the Immaculate Heart Every year, in the month of August, the Catholic Church calls us to increase our devotion the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This short podcast is the eighth in a year-long series on the monthly devotions that the Church suggests for our prayer. Join me as I share thoughts about Mary’s Immaculate Heart, including praying the rosary, the fruits of the mysteries, consecration to Jesus through Mary, a short reading from The Reed of God (along with thoughts on suffering), and making a mini-pilgrimage to a Marian shrine. With the ever-expanding church sex-abuse scandals we are currently witnessing in the news, the call to devotion to the Immaculate Heart seems even greater and more needed! Pray! Pray! Pray! Hey listeners. Tom here. I LOVE this episode! We talk to John Wang who is the founder of the Queens International Night Market. John is an ex-corporate lawyer who, after traveling around the world, woke up one morning and decided that he would make a night market happen in Queens. After 2 failed Kickstarters, and a lot of red-tape, he achieved his goal. What I LOVE about John and his story is that he had a vision- to bring an AFFORDABLE, authentic, and socially conscious market to NYC- and he stuck to that vision. He is dedicated (sometimes not sleeping for 28-30 hours on weekends), passionate, and driven. If you love food, business, entrepreneurship, and passion, please give this one a listen.
I’m super excited to introduce Laura Vanderkam to the podcast. I’m a HUGE fan and I’ve wanted to get her on the show since I started out. Laura is the talented author of several time management and productivity books – I’ve read them all! She is here to guide us through life by saying, "Hey! It can be tough, but there’s so many different ways to manage our time and make things easier." I feel like I already know so much about Laura from her inspirational podcast, "The Best of Both Worlds." I’m always searching for podcasts about successful women and how they do it (aren’t we all?) and this is where I discovered Laura. The podcast is all about loving our families and our jobs as one, a concept that’s often presented as oppositional, but this one aims to prove it doesn’t have to be that way. Laura and her co-host Sarah Hart-Unger have taught me so much, not only about organizing my life for the better, but also giving me the confidence to speak up and stand my ground on the things that are important to me. Can You Have It All? Well, according to Laura – yes, you can. Not only that, she tells you how to hit it out of the park. My personal light bulb moment was coming across, "What Most Successful Women Do Before Breakfast," one of Laura’s books. To me, the content really makes sense. It’s about loving harmonizing your family and career, helping out, being flexible, and organizing your time to allow you to feel fulfilled in every part of your life. Grab Those Goalposts Use goals to manage your time. I’m a big believer that you can pretty much do whatever you want if you pick a goal and set steps to make it work. I definitely look at my time differently now thanks to Laura. Unfortunately, good things don’t just appear like magic. You need to think about how you’re realistically going to get to where you want to be. Set manageable targets within achievable timeframes and the goal setting process will start to flow. The book "I Know How She Does It" is really good for this. Prioritizing Family Time – Anytime Talking about looking at time differently, I love the concept of shaking things up. A simple change can affect your life dramatically. For example, if you feel like you’re missing out on quality time with your family, why not try making your meal time together at the beginning of the day. There’s so much pressure for family meals to be in the evening, but this can happen at any other time. How about breakfast? Breakfast food is fun and often people, especially children, are in a better mood in the morning. So it really can be a great option for busy families to have that time to sit together. Work out what works best for you and your family and shake it up. Looking At Your Time Differently Who knew the middle of the week was Thursday evening? I know, right?! This is a game changer. Laura explains that if you start from Monday morning, the midpoint of the week is really Thursday evening, even though it feels like the end of the week. For Laura, managing time is about balance. What does balance mean to you and how can you achieve it? Don’t be leisurely about your leisure time. It’s not about scheduling things you have to do – it’s about scheduling things you WANT to do! While she doesn’t suggest planning every part of your life, sometimes we do need to schedule our free time. If you want to go for a run, factor in that 20 minutes somewhere. Laura also says it’s important not to blame anyone else. You are in control. Don’t use the kids as an excuse for not being able to do things. I pick 1-3 things I want to accomplish and look at how that fits in with the family – at least then I’m in the equation. We need to think about ourselves. The Great Sleep Debate – Are We Getting Enough? I was inspired by Laura tracking her sleep over a couple of years and had every intention of tracking my sleep for 2 weeks – I ended up doing 2 nights! I’ve always said I need 6/7 hours, but the issue is I love sleeping in on the weekends. The purpose of Laura’s study was to see, in actual numbers, what the life of a professional woman looks like. It turns out, we have a lot more free time than we think. It’s how we use that time that’s key. Outsource The Things That Actually Take Up Your Time We need to ask ourselves, where are we actually spending most of our time? It’s likely to be picking up laundry or doing the daily house chores, but we definitely need to look beyond the obvious if we want to save time. Many of you know that I used to organize people professionally. I’d get constant calls from women asking me why they suddenly felt overwhelmed by the housework, despite work not changing and their kids being older. The reason was mostly because they’d gotten rid of the nanny who had been looking after the kids AND the housework. Often, they’d just need a part-time housekeeper to fill the gap and they’d be back on track. Laura points out that those little jobs we often multitask are actually taking up tons of valuable hours that we could be spending elsewhere. She says to set aside a time and, if it’s not done in that time, it’s probably not that important. We definitely underestimate the hours it takes to sort the home, but give yourself credit for doing that activity, whether you outsource it or not. Putting You In Control If something’s not done, I feel like it’s my problem. I know that I often put that on myself. I’m sure many of you can relate, but Laura says there’s always a choice and I think that is so important to remember. Sometimes you are doing this to yourself and you can take back control. Balancing family, free time, and chores can be overwhelming. What I LOVE about Laura is that not only does she have great ideas for managing your time effectively, she’s able to make me see that I can’t do it all. I’m WORKING And best of all – that’s ok! Looking Forward The next book from Laura is called "Off The Clock" and it comes out on May 29th. It’s a time study about tracking time and how people look at their lives. How do people spend their time differently? Laura found that people who felt like they had a lot of time had done something different or memorable. They felt like they had more time because they were doing something with their time that they actually remembered. The conclusion was that when you do this, your time actually expands. I LOVE it! The date is already on my calendar to get it. To find out more about Laura Vanderkam, click here. Follow me on Facebook and on Instagram – I’m currently addicted to Instagram Stories! My mission is to Transform Lives. I'm an intuitive adjuster and healer looking to reconnect the mind and body. I give hope and instill power so that you believe your body can heal and your life can change. We are not broken, but whole, and I will help you put the pieces of the puzzle back together. Anything is possible if you believe…in yourself, in your body and in the power within you to change your life. Watch for my contribution in the book, The Peace Makers: Restoring Love in the World through Stories of Compassion and Wisdom, in the fall of 2016. I'm also working on my first book coming out in the winter of 2017, “From Last Resort to First Option: How Chiropractic Will Change Your Life (or something like that!). Besides running a high-volume pediatric/family practice, I am a wife of 16 years and a mom of a 15 year old girl and 12 year old boy. What I LOVE: my kitties, building memories with family, reading, writing, snuggling, connecting with close friends, music and sports (cheering and coaching). Life isn't always easy, but it's worth it. Once you decide that you deserve to have it all, you can; when you allow it to come to you, it will.
A note on recent events in our country and world... There is a dark cloud over our world right now and for weeks I was trying to decide what to do and how to proceed. And no, that doesn't mean using hashtags and prayers (although those should never be thrown aside because every teensy tinesy step counts). I realized that "doing something" meant talking to EVERYONE, asking questions, and ESPECIALLY informing myself when it comes to perspectives other than my own. This has been my MO for as long as I can remember, but this month has been a huge, grim reminder that I can do more and be better and search harder and dig deeper. Always. However, there is a delicate balance. For me, someone who has been born into skin deemed "white" and therefore has never experienced racism firsthand, I've wanted to gain massive insight on how I can be an ally and work toward change beyond posting an article on FB or a hashtag on Instagram (both of which are still important and will continue to do). But I know that some people aren't ready to jump into explaining "How You Can Help" to me. The country is grieving right now. The world is grieving. And it's wrong to assume that just because one person wants answers, another person is ready (emotionally) to give them counsel. And so I wanted to have a conversation about it....and so, so more. Enter Erica Chidi. Blending her skills as a doula, lactation counselor and chef, Erica guides expectant parents through their pregnancy and transition into parenthood. Her intuitive and gentle approach, coupled with her expertise has helped hundreds of families easily adjust into their new roles with support and confidence. In 2013 Erica founded The Mama Circle, which focused on nurturing women into motherhood. The Mama Circle provided doula services, lactation counseling, nutritional support as well as prenatal, postpartum and parenting education programs. Her newest venture, LOOM, is co-founded with Quinn Lundberg and set to open in Los Angeles in 2017. LOOM will be a wellness hub for pregnancy and parenting offering coaching, classes and community events. Erica's first book on pregnancy and early motherhood will be published by Chronicle Books and released in fall 2017. What I LOVE about this episode is how unexpectedly seamlessly all the topics flow together. From ways to practice gratitude during times of strain to how to prep for motherhood even if you don't really know if you're wanting kids yet to the generational wounds triggered by the most recent shootings and racist violence, this conversation with Erica is filled with wisdom, introspection, and inspiration to stay not only grounded, but balance being both empathetic and self-loving at the same time. Basically: what it means to confront the uncomfortable in all aspects of life. If you are feeling low, please do not berate yourself for being so profoundly affected...even if you can't put words to it. Energy is neither created nor is it destroyed. Our world is at an empathetic standstill, which means that those who DO feel deeply might be feeling enough for many others who don't have the awareness or courage to sit with and process their own emotions. It's okay. Feel all you feel, and feel it deeply. And then once you've let it sink into your bones, like calcium to the skeleton, use that empathetic energy you've metabolized to TAKE SUCH STRONG AND POWERFUL action that the world can't help but be better for you being in it. Thank you a million times over to Erica for sharing so much of herself with all of us. This episode is a must-listen. Be sure to listen until the end for a challenge for all WANTcast listeners - one of those small things that can make a HUGE difference.
