    Ivy Insights

The Spawned Parenting Podcast with Kristen and Liz of CoolMomPicks is truly a gem in the podcast world. From the moment I started listening, I was immediately hooked. The chemistry between Kristen and Liz is evident, making for engaging and enriching discussions. Each episode is filled with valuable knowledge and experiences shared by both the hosts and their guests.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is the wide range of topics covered. They tackle everything from parenting challenges to current social issues, always providing insightful advice and practical solutions. The personal experiences shared by Kristen and Liz make it easy to relate to their stories and feel connected as a listener. Additionally, the guests they bring on offer diverse perspectives and expertise that add depth to each episode.

Another great aspect of this podcast is its ability to inform and entertain simultaneously. The conversations flow naturally, creating an enjoyable listening experience that doesn't feel like a lecture or monologue. It's refreshing to hear genuine laughter, wit, and realness throughout each episode.

While there are many positive aspects of The Spawned Parenting Podcast, one potential drawback is that there have been fewer episodes where both hosts are together compared to previous seasons. Some listeners, like myself, miss the dynamic chemistry between Kristen and Liz when they were both present in most episodes. However, despite this change in format, the quality of content remains high.

In conclusion, The Spawned Parenting Podcast is a must-listen for parents at any stage of motherhood or fatherhood. It offers a wealth of knowledge, relatable stories, practical tips, and thought-provoking conversations that make parenting feel less isolating. Kristen and Liz have created a podcast that is informative, entertaining, and inclusive for all types of parents. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experiences with us!

Being mixed race in America: A conversation with author Lauren Kung Jessen | Episode 291

As a mixed-race Chinese American, I've struggled to feel a sense of belonging. I grew up feeling more accepted by the German (white) side of my family. Then, as I got older, I learned more about the Chinese side of my family and felt a connection to the experiences of Asian Americans. Just recently, especially as I was editing my book, A Thousand Miles to Graceland, I've found myself somewhere in the middle; not necessarily feeling Chinese, and yet, also not White, either. Thankfully, I'm not alone, and more and more mixed-race Americans are sharing stories to help highlight what it's like. That's exactly what author Lauren Kung Jessen does in her debut novel, Lunar Love, a sweet enemies-to-lovers rom-com that celebrates the deep-rooted family legacies that shape us and how these traditions evolve into our own. Lauren, like me, is a mixed-race Chinese American, and also, like me, has written a book featuring mixed-race Chinese Americans (and Chinese Americans). On this episode, we chat about how we identify, and the challenges we've faced in finding the right language to do so, as well as how we experience whiteness, and why these stories (like our novels) are so important for people like us (and well, everyone). You might know Julie from her first book, "How to Raise an Adult," which was a New York Times bestseller and was the antidote to overparenting culture. Thankfully, she's back with a sort of follow-up to that one, aimed at older Gen-Z and millennials (and hey, Gen-Xers too), with a super helpful guidebook to what it means to be an adult. It's supportive, thoughtful, and inspiring, whether you need it for yourself, or you've got a budding adult in your life. Follow us on social media: Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook
