Aunque nos identifica el título de uno de los sones montunos clásicos de la música popular cubana, comenzaremos con una muestra de ciertas melodías que, a comienzos de los años 60, de alguna manera consiguieron suavizar la banda sonora de aquellos tiempos de cambios radicales. Martha Strada, el violinista urugüayo Federico Britos y el trombonista Pucho Escalante a la cabeza del Noneto Cubano de Jazz, en un salto de casi cuatro décadas, darán paso a sonidos más contemporáneos. Manolo Miyares en saxo, Oliver Valdés en drums, Néstor del Prado en bajo eléctrico y Tony Rodríguez en piano, desde una presentación en las tablas del legendario "Amadeo Roldán", nos recuerdan cómo sonaba "M.O.N.T". Algunas maravillas de la música popular cubana. Entre ellas sobresalió sin dudas la maestría de "Los Papines" en la rumba y el guaguancó. En la frecuencia musical de Cubakústica unos minutos con el gran Miguelito Cuni junto al conjunto de sus grandes éxitos: "Chappotin y sus estrellas". Música cubana por el mundo a la manera del trío mexicano "Los Panchos", fundado en el Nueva York del año 1944. Gil, Navarro y Avilés, en sus grabaciones para la etiqueta norteamericana Columbia, incluyeron una buena cantidad de sones, guarachas y boleros de autores cubanos. Hoy les escucharemos: "El guarapo y la melcocha"; "Parece que va a llover" y "Quiéreme mucho". El estilo de la vedette Josephine Baker y la antológica señal de la CMQ RadioCentro nos traen el esplendor artístico de La Habana de la primera mitad de los años 50 y algo de la obra del malogrado pianista y compositor Orlando de la Rosa. A continuación algunos de los éxitos iniciales de Blanca Rosa Gil que el sello Modiner colocaba allá por 1960 en los tocadiscos cubanos. En la despedida Carlos Embale, el trío La Rosa y el Trío Oriental cantan en grande algunas de las creaciones del auténtico Rey de la Guaracha: Ñico Saquito.

En la música cada genero tiene su cabida, como en su momento lo fue la salsa de Puerto Rico, el merengue en Panamá, el Reggaeton y sus dos exponentes principales en Colombia y PR, lo es ahora el TRAP Colombiano, y para hablar de su éxito comercial a día de hoy, no podemos dejar de lado el nombre de Deezy y Prime Los Money Makers.En nuestra conversación en la mesa del negocio hablamos sobre sus primeros pasos; como Deezy empezó en la composición y por su lado Prime se dedicaba a ser DJ de Guaracha. También como, tras una dura experiencia la guía de un mentor los ayudó a encontrar su norte y encontrarse finalmente como Los Money Makers. Este dúo hace especial énfasis en la importancia de encontrar un color comercial único y explotarlo como su formula, sin dejar de explorar y aprender de otros sonidos. En aquella etapa singular, casi todos los discos que grababan estos grupos tenían un bolero, en uno de los lados del disco, y una guaracha en el otro. Esta forma de la música bailable cubana recogía, por ejemplo, sucesos simpáticos del ambiente y describía a personajes populares. Roberto Faz fue uno de los grandes guaracheros cubanos. Y aquí se cuenta una anécdota que protagonizaron Faz, Miguelito… y una tijera. Todo, en una guaracha. Today in our 650th episode we sit down with musician Mason Guzman-Sanchez of Rhythm Tribe! Bridging the gap between generations, Rhythm Tribe is now led by siblings Brisa Guzman-Sanchez on lead vocals and brother Mason on guitar and vocals, their father Thomas on bass, and close family friend Esau Garcia on drums. Representing a new generation of musicians in the family, Bria's stylized R&B vocals with Mason's mastery of guitar, grounded by Thomas created a musical force that speaks to all music lovers. The Guzman-Sanchez family has been playing music since 1915. Rafael “Fello” Sanchez is a legendary Cuartista and professional musician from Corozal, Puerto Rico. Rafael Guzman-Sanchez, also born in Corozal P.R., was a professional player who performed on radio throughout the 50's and innovated a new rhythmic approach to Guaracha music. Thomas is the third generation of professional musicians. Mason, age 25, is a fourth-generation guitarist, and Brisa, age 22, with her R&B hypnotizing vocals, represent a new generation of musicians as a family. Thomas was inspired to reach out to his kids to see if they wanted to start a new incarnation of Rhythm Tribe. It was their collective decision that has made this new album possible. Together, they've called the album “Generations.” Rhythm Tribes new song, “I Just Smoked,” written by the bands lead singer Brisa Guzman-Sanchez explains her coping with her ADHD diagnosis. Lejos de Cuba mantuvieron frescas, hasta el final de sus días, las raíces de la música popular de su tierra. Así comenzamos recordando a los muchachos del Bronx: Patato, Totico, Virgilio Martí, los hermanos Cadavieco, entre otros rumberos que, respaldados por la grandeza musical de Arsenio Rodríguez y Cachao López, efectuaron estás míticas grabaciones en Nueva York, finalizando los años sesenta. Los musicales años 40 cubanos vibrando al compás de los estremecimientos sociales, políticos y económicos. Cascarita, primero con la jazz band Casino de la Playa, con Pérez Prado al piano estrenando sus delirios rítmicos y armónicos, y seguidamente con otra importante formación de la época: la Hermanos Palau. Mambo, swing y guaracha en sintonía con el diario vivir de los cubanos. Sátira y libertad de expresión en los repertorios de los músicos de entonces. Panchito Cruz con la orquesta del Casino Nacional y Joseito Fernández completan la fórmula. María Cervantes, importante pianista y cantante, abrió un camino singular en la interpretación de boleros, guarachas y danzas. Su desenfadado estilo resonó en un artista que llevaría al máximo esa manera de interpretar y decir las piezas: Bola de Nieve. En dos tiempos María Cervantes con sus canciones y su piano. Primero desde el catálogo norteamericano Columbia del año 1929, y luego, reapareciendo en sus ochenta años ante el público habanero, inagotable su espléndido estilo. Nos despedimos con rumba y con swing recordando la grandiosa obra del percusionista, compositor, rumbero y bailarín Luciano "Chano" Pozo. Dizzy Gillespie, el Quinteto de música moderna con Frank Emilio a la cabeza, y el gran Miguelito Valdés cierran en grande el programa. Cubakústica, todas las semanas compartimos contigo más de cien años de música popular cubana.
