It's been a rollercoaster week for FC Cincinnati—going from a historic 3-0 advantage over Tigres UANL to a complete collapse in Mexico, then responding with a chaotic 4-3 comeback win over CF Montreal despite going down a man after Miles Robinson's red card. The fight and resilience were there, but the same defensive issues and costly mistakes remain, leaving the bigger question: is one emotional win enough to move past the Tigres disaster and win the fanbase back?
One week until meaningful soccer and the launch of a promising FC Cincinnati season! We enter Year 11 the same way as last season, with the Orange & Blue leaving the country for CONCACAF Champions Cup coverage. Soon enough, the MLS season also starts with designated players Evander, Miles Robinson, and Kevin Denkey leading a talented roster. But what are we really looking at? How promising and hopeful are we that this roster can use consistency and build from last season's hard work? We ask the FC Cincinnati radio broadcast team, Tommy G. and Kevin McCloskey, what they think about this roster and the long road ahead. (And perhaps a bit about the big tournament this summer!) Morning Footy: A daily soccer podcast from CBS Sports Golazo Network
The Morning Footy crew react to the news that FC Cincinnati and Defender of the Year Matt Miazga has undergone season-ending surgery on his knee. Miazga suffered the injury during Cincy's 4-2 win over the San Jose Earthquakes on June 14th. This is a major loss for one of the top-tier teams in the Eastern Conference. This sparked a debate amongst the group about Weston McKennie and if he should make his way stateside to join MLS, particularly FC Cincinnati where they've already added Miles Robinson. Morning Footy is available for free on the Audacy app as well as Apple Podcasts, Spotify and wherever else you listen to podcasts.
