Courageous Conversations For A Changing WorldPart One, Faith In Modern Times Sunday Edition with Anthony Corona Thank you for joining us for our continuing Courageous Conversations, part of the Sunday Edition family podcast and digital media content services. This gathering brought together community members from across faith traditions and lived experiences for an honest exploration of spirituality, disability, advocacy, and the realities of navigating turbulent times. Deep gratitude to Mark, Lorna, and Gabriel for their wisdom, vulnerability, and thoughtful leadership in the discussion. Thank you to everyone who listened on Corona FM, those who joined us live, and a special welcome to our new friend Judy. We are honored you found your way into this circle. During this conversation, we reflected on the enduring words of Madeleine L Engle, drawing from her writings across decades and examining how her reflections continue to resonate today. Together, we spoke about facing the enemy and naming the enemy. We considered the theological image of the enemy as a once favored angel who chose the fall, and we examined how distraction and chaos function as tools that attempt to separate us from ourselves, from our faith, from our shared humanity, and from our higher power. Although the conversation was framed within the Lenten season and included references to the Old and New Testament, this was not a conversation confined to Christianity. Participants explored the distinctions between faith, spirituality, and organized religion, affirming that spirituality does not equal religion and faith is not limited to any one tradition. We wrestled with doubt, polarization within our communities, and the challenge of holding onto faith in dark political and cultural moments. We also examined how personal spirituality informs advocacy. How does our inner life shape our public voice. How do we carry faith into justice work. How do we quiet the noise designed to fracture and divide us, especially within disability and faith communities. These questions formed the heartbeat of the evening. Next Conversation, Thursday at 8 PM Eastern Our second Courageous Conversation will center on forgiveness. We will explore what we have described as a trinity of forgiveness: extending forgiveness, accepting forgiveness, and forgiving for ones own spiritual balance. Drawing from our recent reflections on forgiveness within our own house, we will examine how silence can become permission, how speaking truth and offering grace can coexist, and how forgiveness functions not as weakness but as disciplined leadership. We will also reflect on the theological symbolism of the Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and what spiritual equilibrium looks like in a divided world. Growing The Circle a Special Reading and Advocacy Conversation with Barbara Hinske

Sunday EditionGrowing the Circle with Barbara Hinske Airing Sunday at 1 PM Eastern on 2020 The BeaconAvailable in your podcast feeds immediately after broadcast This week on Sunday Edition, we gather for a rich and heartfelt conversation with author Barbara Hinske centered on her latest novel, Growing the Circle, part of the beloved Guiding Emily series. Barbara shares how her journey into the world of Emily Main began through a charitable interaction with the Foundation Fighting Blindness, and how she chose to donate the proceeds of the first book in the series to support that mission. What began as generosity became a long term literary commitment to telling stories that reflect the lived experiences of the blind and low vision community with authenticity and warmth. We explore the theme of second acts in life, including Emily's own transition into vision loss, her partnership with her guide dog Garth, and the ever widening circle of relationships that shape her world. The novel beautifully examines how loss can lead to unexpected expansion, new purpose, and deeper connection. Our conversation dives into advocacy woven seamlessly into storytelling. We discuss employment discrimination, assumptions about competence, parenting, assistive technology, and the subtle ways society questions blind and low vision individuals. Barbara shares how she listens closely to members of our community and thoughtfully incorporates those conversations into women's fiction and comfort storytelling that invites reflection rather than defensiveness. Growing the Circle is not simply a novel. It is a bridge between communities. It opens doors for friends, family members, coworkers, and readers to better understand the daily realities, frustrations, joys, and resilience of blind and low vision people. We encourage you to read along and join us for our upcoming friends and family book discussion and advocacy gathering with Barbara. If you are interested in participating, email SundayEdition@anthonycorona.com and let us know you are reading Growing the Circle and would like to join the conversation. Details will follow once the date is finalized. Please support Barbara's work by purchasing the book and leaving reviews on Goodreads, Amazon, Audible, or wherever you listen to audiobooks. Reviews and engagement truly matter. The more interaction, the more the algorithm recognizes these stories and shares them with new readers. Amplifying good work is one of the simplest and most powerful forms of advocacy. Sunday Edition Presents: A Conversation with Kevin and Sarah LaRoseBy: Anthony Corona Air Date: February 15 In this heartfelt and deeply layered conversation, we sit down with Kevin and Sarah LaRose to talk about life, love, blindness and vision loss, faith held onto, faith practiced, faith questioned and faith reclaimed. For years we have corresponded, supported and amplified one another's work across advocacy spaces and community conversations. It was long past time that we sat down together not only as colleagues in the work, but as friends and partners in shared purpose. Sarah and Kevin have been married since 2012. They first met in 1998 while participating in advocacy activities online and through the American Council of the Blind. What began as shared advocacy grew into shared life. Kevin is a lover of history and politics, an enthusiastic home cook, an avid podcast listener and the kind of reader who juggles three books at once. A gifted wordsmith, he describes himself as an introvert, yet he is also a generous encourager who offers thoughtful compliments with sincerity and care. Sarah taught biblical languages at Anderson University from 2015 to 2024 and received the Jacob Bolotin Award from the National Federation of the Blind in 2016. She now works as a braille transcriber for JBI Library. In her memoir, Past the Gray Curtain, she offers a deeply personal reflection on faith, identity and lived experience. You can learn more about Sarah and her work at http://www.sarahblakelarose.com and explore Kevin's work at http://www.kevinlarose.net. While there are many memoirs available today, this is a beautifully written, thoughtfully presented and deeply thought provoking work. Supporting one another is not only about hitting a like button or sharing a post. It is also about showing up through action. Please consider purchasing Sarah's book today and investing in the powerful storytelling and lived experience she so generously shares. During our conversation, we explore navigating blindness and vision loss within faith communities, translating belief into lived practice in a modern world and the quiet courage it takes to wrestle with doubt while holding onto hope. Gabriel Lopez Kafati joins us for part of the conversation as we begin teasing an upcoming six week series of Thursday night discussions leading up to and through the Lenten season and Easter. Together we talk about what it means to translate faith into action and compassion in today's world. This episode is thoughtful, honest and grounded in lived experience. It is a conversation about partnership, calling and the ongoing journey of becoming. His sound pulls inspiration from early 2000s punk and alternative rock while still feeling fresh, playful, and emotionally grounded. Sunday Edition PresentsThe EchoVision Glasses Experience This weeks Sunday Edition featured an in depth and community centered conversation exploring the EchoVision smart glasses and the growing ecosystem surrounding them. Our guest Amy from the AGIGA team guided us through multiple live demonstrations of the EchoVision glasses, offering a clear and practical look at how they function in real world use. Amy shared the story behind the development of the glasses, the philosophy that shaped their design, and what is coming next for both the product and the broader EchoVision community. We explored the history of EchoVision, how blind and low vision users were involved from the very beginning, and why the Pioneer experience is such a critical part of refining and strengthening the technology. Amy also walked listeners through how to learn more, where to find demos and resources, and how interested users can take next steps. A highlight of the episode was hearing directly from current EchoVision Pioneers. Several users joined the conversation to share their lived experiences, practical use cases, and honest reflections on how the glasses fit into daily life. These firsthand perspectives brought depth and authenticity to the discussion and reinforced the importance of designing assistive technology with the community rather than for it. We were also pleased to introduce Lisa Brooks, who is helping to manage and grow the social media presence surrounding EchoVision. Lisa shared insight into how the community connects online and how users can stay engaged, informed, and supported as the platform continues to evolve. Blind Travel Foundation and Creative Guidance with Sunday Edition This week on Sunday Edition, we bring together two returning voices whose work reminds us that exploration is not just about where we go, but how deeply we listen, adapt, and grow. In our first conversation, we sit down once again with Mike Walsh, founder and executive director of the Blind Travel Foundation. Mike joins us to talk about blind led travel, adventure with purpose, and the power of reclaiming curiosity in a world that often underestimates what blind and low vision travelers can do. From meaningful travel grants to community storytelling, Mike shares how the Blind Travel Foundation continues to expand what access and possibility look like in motion. Mike also walks us through the application process for this year's ten thousand dollar  travel grant and reminds listeners that the deadline is quickly approaching. In our second segment, we welcome back Coach Kaila Allen of Creative Guidance LLC. Kaila is a naturally curious soul whose twenty year journey through the healing arts is shaped by her lived experience with Leber Congenital Amaurosis. Diagnosed at age three, Kaila learned early that when one way of seeing closes, another opens. Her work centers on inner sight, deep listening, and guiding individuals through life transitions by integrating mindfulness, somatic resilience, wellness, and energy healing. Kaila believes transformation is not about becoming someone new, but uncovering the authentic and magnificent version of yourself that already exists. Kaila begins our conversation with a beautiful grounding exercise before we move into a discussion about intentional living and her chosen word of the year for 2026. Both of these conversations highlight something powerful. These are two members of our community who started with an idea, nurtured a dream, and put in the work to turn vision into action. Through the Blind Travel Foundation and Creative Guidance, Mike and Kaila have built something real, sustainable, and deeply rooted in giving back to the blind and low vision community. Together, these conversations explore travel, creativity, adaptation, and what it truly means to move from stuckness into purpose. Both Mike Walsh and Kaila Allen are familiar voices to the Sunday Edition family, and we are thrilled to bring them back for a conversation rooted in insight, experience, and forward motion. > Friend of the Sunday Edition family of podcasts and a personal musical hero, Rhonda Selby joins us for an intimate and heartfelt conversation about music, vision, and life itself. > > Born and raised in the small town of Door, Michigan, Rhonda was diagnosed with retinoblastoma at just four months old and is totally blind. From an early age, sound and music became her language, her compass, and her constant companion. She began singing as a teenager, studying voice and keyboard, and later performing with bands across multiple genres, from pop and country to selections from the Great American Songbook. > > In this intimate evening, we journey through Rhonda's journeys. We explore her creative process, her return to music after a long hiatus, and her recent work teaching herself to mix and produce. Along the way, we talk about the twists and turns life offers us, how vision is experienced far beyond sight, and how music carries us through surprise, loss, and renewal. > > Rhonda also speaks to the wide and sometimes surprising range of artists who have shaped her musical ear. From the precision and emotional discipline of classical voices like Beverly Sills and Kathleen Battle, to the storytelling and swing of jazz greats Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, to the soul rich expression of R and B icons Minnie Riperton and Deniece Williams, her influences reflect a deep respect for vocal honesty and emotional truth. These artists did more than inspire technique; they modeled how a voice can carry vulnerability, power, and grace all at once. In our conversation, Rhonda reflects on how these influences continue to guide her as a singer, producer, and listener, reminding us that music is not confined by genre, but expanded by lived experience. > > This is not just a conversation about songs, but about listening, becoming, and finding your voice again. > > Listen live or tune in on 2020 The Beacon. You can stream from anywhere on the website. You can also ask Alexa devices to enable 2020 The Beacon.Available on GetMeRadio and Live365. > > You can also listen on Corona FM.Visit www.anthonycorona.com and click on the tab for Corona FM. > > For questions, comments, or to request the login information to join us live, send an email to:SundayEdition@anthonycorona.com > >

CURED: A Sunday Edition Special Advocacy Event Sunday Edition presents a powerful and timely broadcast centered on history, activism, and the urgent work still before us. This special episode begins with a screening of the audio described version of the documentary CURED, which chronicles the pivotal moment when LGBTQ activists successfully challenged the psychiatric establishment and forced the removal of homosexuality from the American Psychiatric Association's list of mental illnesses. Achieved through strategy, courage, and relentless advocacy, this victory marked one of the earliest and most consequential steps toward equality for the LGBTQIA plus community. For listeners who would like to watch the full 80 minute version of CURED in advance of this conversation, the filmmakers have generously made it available to the Sunday Edition community for a limited time. To request the advance screening link, please email SundayEdition@anthonycorona.com. While CURED focuses on the removal of homosexuality from the DSM, the lessons embedded in this history extend far beyond one community. This is a story of how marginalized people organize, challenge institutional power, and create lasting change. The advocacy strategies highlighted in the film offer clear examples of how hearts and minds are shifted, how laws and policies are influenced, and how guidance rooted in bias can be dismantled. These lessons resonate deeply across the LGBTQIA plus community, the disability community, and all communities that continue to face marginalization. Following the screening, Sunday Edition transitions into a live roundtable discussion exploring a critical question: how do we borrow from the past to protect and shape our future. Joining the conversation are the filmmakers behind CURED, along with event coordinator Jeremy Grandstaff, whose work in organizational change and advocacy brings essential perspective. Additional surprise panelists will also join, offering deeply personal insight into both the film's themes and the current moment our communities are navigating. Together, the panel examines historical lessons and how they apply to today's backlash, bias, and renewed attacks on LGBTQIA plus and disabled communities. The discussion explores prejudice then and now, the power of collective action, and how past victories can be revisited, remixed, and reactivated for the advocacy demands of today. During the second hour of Sunday Edition, the conversation opens to the audience. Listener voices, lived experiences, and perspectives are central to this dialogue. This is not simply a retrospective, it is a living conversation, a tribute to those who fought before us, and a call to action for what comes next. Celebrating the Holidays and Holy Days with  Sunday edition By: Anthony Corona This week on Sunday edition, we leaned into the season with a conversation that was warm, meaningful, and full of joy. Throughout the year we have shared our Faith in Modern Times series with Mark, Lorna, and Gabriel, and they returned for a holiday edition focused on how we celebrate, how we keep the joy alive, and how we share and spread that joy throughout the holidays. This episode is a blend of tradition, music, and memories. We talked about faith based reflections, secular celebrations, cultural rituals, and the little moments that make this time of year feel meaningful. Some traditions are rooted in religion, some in family, some in chosen family, and some simply in comfort and connection. All of them belong here. We also took a stroll through the soundtrack and screen glow of the season, the holiday music that lives in our bones, the specials that signal it is officially that time of year, and the quiet comfort of the Yule log flickering in the background while life slows down just a bit. We celebrated what we can be thankful for, how we hold onto our faith, and how we honor faith of all traditions. Holiday music highlights from this episode included old favorites like "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" and music from A Charlie Brown Christmas, along with newer offerings like Kylie Minogue's "Hot in December." We also visited traditional staples including "O Holy Night" and "Joy to the World." Mark treated us to some wonderfully creative songs made with creation help by artificial intelligence, including a Christmas perspective from the often left out Rudolph partner, Clarice. She just loves his red nose, but we digress. Anthony shared his own cover of "Happy Xmas, War Is Over," and we closed out the episode by rocking right into "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree." We explore what you need to know before choosing a cane, some of the new and very cool features that are now available, and how to make sure the cane you select truly supports independence, comfort, and safety. Laura brings extraordinary insight to this conversation. She is Ambutech's Production, Compliance and Improvement Specialist, a role where her sharp eye for detail and natural talent for problem solving shine every single day. She analyzes processes, finds creative solutions, and ensures everything on the production floor runs safely, efficiently, and with the highest standards of quality. Outside of work, Laura loves escape room style puzzles, spending time with her two young children, and keeping up with her energetic dog and curious cat. Her focus, patience, and dedication make her an invaluable part of the Ambutech team. During our conversation, we walk through the journey of mobility canes over the years, how designs have evolved, why certain materials were introduced, and how user feedback continues to shape what Ambutech builds. We also explore some very cool new customization features that are now available, the growing collection of cane colors and styles, and all of the different cane tips that can dramatically change the feel and purpose of a mobility cane. From rolling tips and marshmallow tips to specialty tips for specific environments, Laura breaks down what they do, how they work, and why choosing the right one matters. Laura is an incredible resource, and anyone considering giving or receiving a customized mobility cane this holiday season will find a wealth of helpful information. Share it with your friends and family and drop a hint or two if you are hoping for a fabulous Christmas mobility gift. We also take a moment to highlight the incredible legacy behind the canes so many of us trust. Over the decades, Ambutech has grown into the largest supplier of mobility products in Europe and North America, distributing to more than eighty countries. Their success comes from a deep commitment to quality, customer feedback, and continuous investment in advanced manufacturing techniques. Sunday Edition Presents: Air Travel The Good, Bad and experiences a Solution Based Conversation

Sunday Edition PresentsAir Travel: The Good, the Bad and the UglyA Conversation About Experience and Solution This week's episode of SUNDAYEDITION dives into a timely and necessary discussion about air travel, accessibility, and the lived experiences of blind and low vision travelers. Many Sunday Edition audience members know that I, Anthony Corona, recently attended the Blind Travel Summit. In a serious twist of irony, the trip home from that very summit resulted in one of the worst air travel experiences of my life. The airline in question was dismissive and abrasive at best, and at worst their actions violated my civil rights through bullying, lack of communication, and a refusal to follow basic protocol. This experience fueled my determination to bring the conversations we had at the Blind Travel Summit directly to our community. I invited friends from the summit, including Mika, Jean, Pen, and Jeremy, to join me for a deeper roundtable conversation. Lifelong air-travel advocate Gabriel also joined us, sharing perspectives shaped by decades of experience. Together, we explored the good, the bad, and the unfathomably ugly realities of travel while centering solution-based advocacy, equitable practices, and the need for true understanding baked into hiring, training, and infrastructure across the industry. This conversation will serve as a springboard for a broader initiative in the air travel space. We are already arranging a follow-up meeting with accessibility teams, operations, and executive leadership from several major airlines. As of this taping, three airlines have committed to participating in a January 7 conversation aimed at improving access, dignity, and consistency for all travelers with disabilities. The full details and presentations are coming soon, but this teaser captures the energy, excitement, and unforgettable firsts that made the day so memorable. Day two began with a milestone moment for me. I took my very first autonomous vehicle ride using the Waymo and Uber partnership. From the precise pick up to the smooth and confident navigation across Austin, the experience was both surreal and empowering. Riding in a fully automated vehicle for the first time opened a brand new chapter in independence and access. I cannot wait to share the full story, reflections, and reactions with you. Once I arrived at the Texas School for the Blind, the day was filled with incredible sessions, advocacy conversations, and travel insights. I cannot give too much away yet, but I can promise you that the content coming from the Blind Travel Summit will be packed with information about accessible travel, upcoming changes in transportation, and what organizations like Open Doors are doing to expand options for all of us. This episode is meant to tease everything that is coming your way. Over the next several days and weeks, I will be releasing videos and extended coverage of the presentations, interviews, and travel demonstrations across the entire Sunday Edition landscape. A Sunday Edition Special Event With Suzanne Brockman; Advocacy, Representation and getting Real

Sunday Edition Presents: A Conversation with Suzanne Brockmann – The Legacy of Jules and Robin Originally recorded Thursday night at 8 PM Eastern, this extraordinary conversation with bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann dives deep into LGBTQIA representation in mainstream romance and the broader world of inclusive literature. Suzanne was open, honest, vulnerable, and fun—offering insight, laughter, and reflection in equal measure. This marks the first in a special series of conversations celebrating authors who have forever changed the landscape of romantic fiction. Part Two of this series will arrive in November. At the heart of this discussion lies one of the most groundbreaking and emotionally resonant storylines in modern romance: the love story of Jules Cassidy and Robin Chadwick.   For readers of Brockmann's beloved Troubleshooters series, Jules first appears as a sharp, compassionate, openly gay FBI agent whose courage and integrity shine from the start. Across several books, his path intertwines with Robin, a talented actor battling denial, family pressure, and the difficult journey toward self-acceptance. What begins as tension and hesitation evolves into one of the most beautifully written love stories in the genre.   Suzanne crafted their story with patience and authenticity, giving both men the space to face the realities of coming out, finding love under public scrutiny, and building a relationship that could survive fear, fame, and the chaos of real life. Their journey reaches its emotional pinnacle in “All Through the Night,” the first mainstream romance novel to feature an LGBTQIA couple as its leading protagonists. More than a Christmas story, it was a cultural turning point—a book that changed the game for representation in both romance and mainstream publishing.   Suzanne speaks candidly about her early attempts at bringing queer and diverse characters into her stories, and the fierce denials she received from publishers who feared the market wasn't “ready.” Through persistence, courage, and an unwavering belief in authentic storytelling, she broke through those barriers. Her personal advocacy—deeply influenced by her son, actor and activist Jason T. Gaffney—fueled her commitment to visibility and equality long before the industry caught up.   When “All Through the Night” was released, Suzanne donated every cent of its profits to MassEquality, supporting the fight for marriage equality in Massachusetts. That act of advocacy mirrored the novel's message itself: that love is love, representation matters, and change begins when someone refuses to back down.   Throughout this episode, we trace Jules and Robin's emotional arc—from the early sparks of “Hot Target,” through the deepening connection in “Force of Nature,” to their wedding and resolution in “All Through the Night.” Their story mirrors the larger cultural shift Suzanne helped create: a journey from secrecy to openness, from denial to joy, and from invisibility to celebration.   For those of us who believe in the power of stories to move hearts and open minds, Jules and Robin's love remains one of the most authentic depictions in contemporary fiction. It's tender, flawed, funny, and deeply human.   We were proud to feature this trailblazing author, “Mamma Bear,” and advocate for equality in every sense of the word. Join us for a conversation that honors courage, creativity, and the enduring truth that love always finds its way.   Stay tuned for Part Two of this conversation coming in November.Episode Notes Notes go here Support Sunday Edition with Anthony Corona by contributing to their tip jar: https://tips.pinecast.com/jar/acb-sunday-edition This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

The AI Audio Summarizer Shortcut for iPhone and Mac Here is a powerful shortcut that works across your Apple devices to take any audio file and use Apple Intelligence to create a clear and comprehensive summary. It's perfect for processing voice memos, lecture recordings, or meeting audio right on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac without needing any third-party services. What the Shortcut Does When you give this shortcut an audio file, it performs the following steps automatically: It first transcribes the entire audio file into text. It then uses Apple Intelligence to analyze the transcript and generate a well-structured summary, using headings and bullet points to make the information easy to digest. It saves this summary as a new, richly formatted note in your Apple Notes app. Once finished, it verbally announces, “Summary ready,” so you know the process is complete. How to Install the Shortcut Follow the iCloud link to install the shortcut: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/f0ff07a2e53f4cbd916161bfbfa6a5e3](https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/f0ff07a2e53f4cbd916161bfbfa6a5e3) The Shortcuts app will open and display the shortcut's details. Navigate to and activate the “Add Shortcut” button to add it to your library. How to Use the Shortcut There are three primary ways to use this shortcut: Method 1: Using the Share Sheet This is the easiest method and works well in apps like Voice Memos or Files. Navigate to the recording you want to summarize, activate the “Share” button, and then select “Summarize Audio” from the list of share options. Method 2: Using Quick Actions (macOS) 1. In Finder on your Mac, select the audio file you want to process. 2. With VoiceOver, open the context menu by pressingVO+Shift+M. 3. Navigate down to the “Quick Actions” submenu, and then find and activate “Summarize Audio”. Method 3: Running it Directly 1. Open the Shortcuts app on any of your devices. 2. Find “Summarize Audio” in your list of shortcuts and activate it. 3. A dialog will appear asking you to select an audio file. Choose your file and activate the “Open” button. Important Requirements This shortcut requires a device running iOS 26 or macOS Tahoe (or later). The first time you run the shortcut, your device may ask for permission to allow Shortcuts to interact with the Notes app. You must approve this request for it to work correctly. It is more about the connection to something higher, to something bigger, to each other, and most importantly to ourselves. How do we take the things we believe in and turn them into actionable items. How do we filter the never ending news cycle, the commentary, the ugliness in debate and action using the things our faith teaches us. And how do we begin to bridge the divide between ideologies, faith, and lived experience. For show executive producer and host Anthony it is all about love and humanity. We are all humans and we are all in a cycle of love, and if we remember that and draw down to that, it is easier to separate the noise from the music. And we want to hear from you. Sunday Edition Show Notes   Title: Literacy in the Blind and Low Vision Community   Original Air Date: September 21, 2025   This week's Sunday Edition launched the first in a series of conversations on literacy in the blind and low vision community. With a mix of experts, real time Braille users, and diverse voices representing non Braille reading literacy, this discussion opened the door to deeper understanding of what literacy means for all of us.   Panelists explored a wide range of topics including Braille literacy, print disability, electronic literacy, and how artificial intelligence can support access. The dialogue highlighted the importance of respecting and validating all forms of reading, writing, and communication. For some, Braille remains central. For others, like myself, secondary conditions or sensitivity loss make Braille difficult or impossible. In those cases, alternative methods become vital.   Together we looked at how to bridge the divide and how we can stand united in advocacy for literacy in all of its forms. Sunday Edition The Mentoring Conversation

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 18, 2025 118:33

This week on Sunday Edition we turned our focus to mentoring. The conversation explored the many layers of how mentoring can shape personal growth, professional development, and community building.   We discussed how to find and balance the right partnership, the questions we should be asking ourselves as we enter into a mentoring relationship, and what we hope to give and receive through the experience. Together we looked at how to set realistic goals, how to talk honestly about both success and failure, and why recognizing failure can be just as important as celebrating achievement.   Our special guest was Kenneth Semien, newly elected second vice president of the American Council of the Blind and creator of the Peer to Peer mentoring program. Kenneth shared insights from his own journey, highlighting the value of building networks of support and fostering relationships that open doors and create opportunity.   The episode offers practical guidance and heartfelt stories that remind us why mentoring matters. Whether you are looking to become a mentor, find a mentor, or simply strengthen the connections in your own life, this conversation provides tools and inspiration to move forward with confidence and clarity.   Yours, Anthony Corona He/Him Host and Producer of Sunday edition  sundayeditionac@gmail.comEpisode Notes Notes go here This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

Episode Notes This episode of Sunday Edition takes us deep into the spiritual and ethical heart of how we live, love, and advocate within the blind and low vision community. Titled "Do Unto Others; Love Thy Neighbor—Concepts, Skills, or a Way of Living," this powerful conversation features returning guests and cherished friends of the show: Lorna, Lorna, Mark, and Reverend DJ. Together, we reflect on two timeless teachings: "Love thy neighbor as thyself." — Leviticus 19:18 "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." — Luke 6:31 But what do these teachings really mean in today's world? Are they just ideas to aspire to, or can they become intentional practices and a way of being? And how do they play out within our own community—especially during moments of internal conflict, misunderstandings, and growing pains? We discuss: What it means to extend grace and compassion when systems fail us—and when our own peers do The importance of spiritual grounding in a time of isolation, political hostility, and advocacy burnout The line between righteous anger and intentional harm Navigating ableism, gatekeeping, and internalized oppression How we can disagree without demeaning, correct without condemning, and lead with love—even when it's hard We were also joined by Sunday Edition regulars Christine, Gabriel, and Peter, whose insights and questions deepened the conversation and invited powerful reflections on how we show up for one another. This episode is a call-in of the soul: a reminder that kindness, justice, and faith are not mutually exclusive—and that how we treat each other matters, especially in a world that often overlooks us.
