From Static to Stations: The Birth of Radio - Clash of the Titans! Forget Batman vs. Superman, it's Tesla vs. Marconi! Grandpa Bill takes you on a high-voltage journey through the early days of radio, where sparks flew not just from equipment, but between two brilliant inventors: Nikola Tesla and Guglielmo Marconi. We'll delve into their groundbreaking ideas, bitter rivalries, and the race to claim the title of "Father of Radio." Get ready for a tale of ambition, innovation, and accusations of patent theft! We'll explore the key differences in their approaches, from Tesla's focus on continuous waves to Marconi's reliance on modified Hertzian waves. We'll also unpack the complex legal battles that raged for years, leaving many to ask: who truly invented radio? But wait, there's more! This episode isn't just about two egos clashing. We'll examine the broader context of the time, including the impact of scientific discoveries and the race for technological dominance. And of course, we'll ask the question that still sparks debate today: Whom deserves the credit for ushering in the age of radio? Spark your inner history buff with these thought-provoking questions: Do you think Tesla or Marconi's approach was more instrumental in the development of radio? Why? Beyond the technical aspects, what factors do you think influenced who ultimately received credit for the invention? If you could travel back in time and mediate the conflict, what would you say? Share your theories and insights by leaving a voicemail at this show voicemail message board! Joining us on this wild Digivolutionary ride is none other than Andrew Young, cohost of the podcast Behold! This gaming aficionado is here to share his insights, drop some knowledge bombs, and maybe even settle the age-old debate of Agumon vs. Gabumon. We all know KISS the band, right? Those makeup wearing rock dudes who just want to rock and party and put on a good show. Well, did you know that they've had comics stretching back to the early days of their career? Or that there's a game based on one of the runs? I didn't. Well, I knew there was the KISS game but only that it existed. Good thing I have Scarlett O'Dell from Gatecrashers here to help straighten everything out. Listen in as I get taught a few lessons but also potentially release a monster out into the world. Learn such things as: Wait a minute, KISS has comics? Is the blood thing in the ink real? Is the double colon use in the title really necessary? And so much more! You can find Scarlett on Twitter @sweetsouthern94, Twitch @sweetnsouthern, Instagram @sweetsoutherncosplay, TikTok (I'm old, does TikToc have usernames?), and on Gatecrashers.

Greetings Sexy Lovers! Thank you for subscribing to the 1indienation Podcast! Much love and hugs to each and all of you. The summer heat has FINALLY showed up and made an appearance. Hopefully it stays that way for awhile. With the heat lurking so are the Summer Kisses. Are you ready for that summer romance? I know I am. But then again I am a little latina lover. ;) Guest DJ: DJ Excel from the Skratch Makaniks Crew originally from Philly but now residing in Los Angeles. http://djexcel.com/ It's an all over eclectic mix. Soul, House, Disco, 80s, 70s, Hip Hop, Indie Pop, Electronic. Yeah. Excel mixes it up! lol. It's fun and playful, which is why I like his mixes, they remind me of my own podcast. I don't like sticking with one genre when there is so much good music across the board. I am not a hater of great musical talent! :) So, i need to make a Workout/run mix. What kind of mix do you think would be best? House? Nu Disco? Etc?!!! :P Let me know. And if you haven't already purchased the 1 Indie Nation App please do so! It is available in Itunes for the iPhone here: http://bit.ly/1inapp For you robot lovers out there the app is available in the Android Market and I found this sweet page which has the app and a video I did!
