Angela's got a treasure trove of tips, secrets, and stories that are pure gold for anyone in the acting game, whether you're just starting out or you've been around the block a few times. Here's the lowdown on what we covered: What You Need to Know: Reading Instructions is Key: Angela talks about how something as simple as sending the wrong file type can throw a wrench in your audition. She's all about paying attention to the details. Make sure you know what they're asking for and nail it. Ace Your Online Auditions: With auditions going digital, Angela shares the scoop on making sure your setup is on point. Good internet, good lighting, and a space where you can do your thing without distractions are your best friends here. Bring Your Flavor to the Role: Angela's not looking for robots. She wants to see what you bring to the character. It's all about showing up with your take on the role and being ready to collaborate to make something awesome. Self-Care for the Win: One of the big themes Angela hits on is looking after yourself. Acting's a marathon, not a sprint, and giving yourself permission to take breaks and live life outside the acting bubble is crucial. Top Quotes from the episode: "Making me work harder to fix your audition tape? Yeah, that's gonna make me think twice about calling you back." "Don't just show up expecting to be directed. Bring your own magic to the role. That's what gets noticed." "Worried about your online audition setup? Just do your best to keep things simple and stress-free. It's about what you do, not where you do it." "The industry isn't going anywhere. Taking a break for a bit of self-care or to just breathe is totally fine. You do you."

Dear Listeners,As we approach the end of this year, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who has tuned in to my podcast. Your support and engagement have made this journey incredibly meaningful. This week's episode is a little different than normal, as I take a moment to share a rendition of "Where Are You Christmas?" a song that really speaks to me this year. I would also like to share a poem I wrote called “Who has time for Christmas?” This piece reflects the inner struggles many of us face in the midst of life's chaos and highlights the true essence of the holiday season. As I share my thoughts through song and verse, I invite you to join me in embracing the simplicity and profound meaning that this time of year holds. Your continued support means the world to me, and I'm excited to share this unique episode with you. Thank you for being a part of this journey, and here's to a season filled with love, joy, and reflection. With love, Jess “Who has time for Christmas?”I said to myself this year.I've got goals and dreams and deadlines, there's no time for Christmas cheer.Dinner with family and drinks with a friend, my day's just a blur, I'm not sure where it starts and ends.No time for shopping and wrapping presents and peace. And don't even start with me about cooking a feast.I've got too much on my plate for the parties and fun.You don't understand -I can't stop til' the job is done.So I push and I press and I work and I write, and I crash in the bed - barely able to sleep at night. And I call this my purpose, living the dream,Even though I feel something missing, maybe, it seems.“What am I missing?!”I ask God above,I'm only trying to ‘glorify you'and ‘serve others with love.'Gently He reminds me, “What are you trying to prove?Do you not think I can make mountains move? You're pushing and pressing and striving in stress,so you're missing the right motive, that's why your life is a mess.I don't need you to take on the world,I just need you to be my little girl.To sit in the stillness and come close to me,to tell me your problems and find true peace. To rest in the knowledge that I sent my sonso long ago to get the job done.To be born on this earth as a man among men,to glorify me and die for your sins.So all this driving and striving and stressing and strifedoes me no good - if you're not alright. If you can't stop for a moment to take a breath and seethat this season isn't about another gift under the tree. It isn't another event to be planned. It's not another dinner or drink with a friend. It isn't about shopping and cooking or worse...It's not about deadlines and what gets done first."As I listened to Him and His words fell on my heart,I knew I was missing was the most important part. The presence of purpose in a pure heart of lovethat began with a baby sent down from aboveThe knowledge and faith for His will to be done,And not by my works - but through His son.And no matter how hard or desperate I strive,There's nothing He requires but to walk by His side.To rejoice in this season with thankfulness and grace, with no need to be running all over the place. To stop for a second to remember why I'm here,And not just at Christmas but all through the year.Follow the PodcastFollow Along on Instagram Follow Along on Facebook

WHERE ARE YOU CHRISTMAS? My Life is Not a Hallmark Movie – Part 1 Springcreek Church | Senior Pastor Keith Stewart December 3, 2023 #realspringcreekchurch #mylifeisnotahallmarkmovie #hallmarkmovie #hallmark #expectations #whereareyouchristmas #christmas #realityhttps://www.springcreekchurch.org/Everything within our culture, from Christmas movies to television specials to depictions in cards, magazines, and commercials paints Christmas as a magical and idyllic time of the year. Seldom does our reality measure up to all the hype. Often, we feel disappointed and wonder, “Where are you Christmas? Where's my Hallmark moment? When will my family ever look like that Norman Rockwell portrait?” This Christmas doesn't have to look like the dashed expectations of Christmas past. There's a better way to experience what this season is all about. Let us show you how. SERIES: My Life is Not a Hallmark MovieHallmark movies have become practically synonymous with sappy storylines, cliché answers to complex problems, and “happily ever after” endings. Our lives are anything but that. But during the holidays, especially at Christmas, we get drawn into the nostalgia and sentimentality of the season and as a result, set unrealistic expectations for what this time of the year will be. In this series, we'll rediscover how the true meaning of Christmas speaks into our less-than-perfect world and relationships. Christmas is the birth of hope in an imperfect world.DISCUSSION QUESTIONS1. Have you ever had your expectations dashed at Christmas? What were you expecting? What actually happened? What did you do with your hurt, disappointment, or anger? Looking back on it now, is there anything you wish you had done differently?2. Describe the biggest influences in your life when it comes to the Christmas season. What was central to your Christmas celebrations as a child? What is now central to your celebrations? How much and in what ways have nostalgia, movies, music, commercials, the church, and social media affected your feelings, mood, and thoughts around Christmas?3. What's the difference between a healthy versus an unhealthy expectation? Or realistic versus unrealistic expectations? Have you ever or do you presently struggle with this? Based on today's message, what might you try to do differently in the future?4. Go back to the message notes and find the full text of the serenity prayer. As a group, go through the prayer line by line and think of ways this might apply to your life today. How does it shift your thinking? Where are you most needing to learn and grow?5. Hope is the one expectation most encouraged in Scripture – that we have every right to expect God to keep His promises. As you reflect on this and the reality that we are not promised a pain-free, hassle-free, problem-free existence but are promised that God will never abandon us, always work in our best interests (for our good and growth), and redeem what is meant to harm us. How have you seen God do this in your life? Where are you struggling to see His hand at work? What promises can you claim and apply to your life right now?
As a treat heading into December, Nick and Sophia preview their Patreon After Dark episode on two holiday gems— could they one day be considered classics? First, they chat about How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Ron Howard's Oscar-winning, live-action remake with Jim Carrey playing Whoville's #1 Scrooge, The Grinch. They list the many Oscar connections associated with the cast and crew, force each other to say three nice things about the movie, and debate if “Where Are You Christmas?” should've been nominated for Original Song.If you would like to join in on the rest of their Whobilation (J.D. Vance isn't invited— he does come up) before they discuss the equally funny and tragic The Family Stone, check out www.patreon.com/OscarWild and contribute at the ‘Oscar Wild: After Dark' tier or higher on Patreon. Welcome to the show you beautiful people. This episode starts with a brand new segment called Jack-Ask (which is a terrible name and needs to be changed). For some reason a listener thinks your host, Jack, is the person to ask for advice on a Christmas dilemma. What do you do when a guest brings very little food to the table, but takes loads of leftovers when they leave? Then it's the triumphant return of Robin Sings (which should really be called Robin and Juno Sing). We had a request from Bob Baker for the girls to sing Where Are You Christmas, so that's what they did.We also had a request from Bob Baker to take a look at the British TV show Old Jack's Boat which has a lovely Christmas episode. It's called The Christmas Quest and it's a real tearjerker. I couldn't find the episode to watch, but you can listen to the story here:https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/radio/old-jacks-boat-christmas-questThis episode we have another Yule Log. This one features Lil Bub an internet famous cat who's very cute and sits in front of a fire.If you want to watch it, who am I to stop you. Here's a link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuHZSbPJhaYThen we have everyone's favourite segment What The Dickens. This episode we talk about why the chapters of a Christmas Carol are called staves, why Scrooge wants to retire to Bedlam and why every idiot who goes around with Merry Christmas on his lips should be buried with a stake of holly through his heart. This week's recommendation is anything by the author Bill Bryson. His books are funny and interesting and they kept me company on my short tour around Wales. If you want to get in touch, the email is totalchristmas@gmail.comMerry Christmas

In this episode, the guys discuss the Christmas....classic? Ron Howard's HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS. Does Jim Carrey's portrayal of the Grinch still hold up as an interesting interpretation? Does Ian's rendition of WHERE ARE YOU CHRISTMAS totally nail the feeling of the season? Why are there so many parallels between Batman and the Grinch? The answer to all these questions and more on this episode of Media Ghouls!
This week we take a request from a dear friend who wanted us to suffer through two poorly-told musical tales of Christmas disillusionment: "Where Are You Christmas?" by Faith Hill and "Silver Bells" by Kathie Lee Gifford featuring Regis Philbin. Join us on this journey through talk show banter and music video hairstyles of yesteryear. Thank you to Mindy for the request!
