Very often we find ourselves in need of assistance from other people. Sometimes we need to get a meeting with someone. Sometimes we need to find favor in another person's eyes. And sometimes we need someone to help us even though we know that we do not find favor in his eyes. At those moments, we must remember that the main hishtadlut is always with Hashem. He is the only One who determines whether we will receive what we need. He can arrange a meeting. He can place favor in other people's eyes toward us. And He can cause someone to help us even when, naturally speaking, we would not find favor in that person's eyes. A man told me that he had been trying for the longest time to get a meeting with a world-famous company. He felt that if he could obtain their licensing rights, it would completely transform the scope of his business. However, despite all of his efforts, he could not even get a single response from them. Recently, he was visiting a friend's office in Manhattan. While he was there, he received a phone call that seemed as though it would take some time. As he spoke, he began walking around the building aimlessly. A few minutes later, he found himself standing near an elevator. Suddenly the doors opened and a group of people stepped out. They asked him if he knew where a certain office was located. Since he knew the building, he told them it was one floor above. At that moment, he realized that this group represented the very company he had been trying to contact. They had flown in from across the country for a meeting with someone else, but had accidentally gone to the wrong floor. And he happened to be standing there the moment the elevator opened. Among the group he recognized someone he had once known who now worked for the company. He immediately told him how much he had been trying to arrange a meeting. The man replied that he would be happy to help him. Hashem can arrange a meeting even with people who seem completely unreachable. Another man, whom we will call Solomon, told me about a business meeting he recently had with a new buyer from a very large chain store. As they were speaking before the meeting began, they suddenly realized that the gardener who had recently done work at Solomon's home was the buyer's brother. This was not Solomon's usual gardener. He had needed a major job done quickly, and his regular gardener was unable to handle it. The new gardener completed the job, but afterward charged Solomon more than he had originally quoted, explaining that the work had turned out to be much more difficult than expected. Solomon could easily have argued with him about the price. Instead, he simply paid him with a smile. The gardener later told his brother, the buyer, about this incident and how impressed he was that Solomon had paid without complaint. As a result, even before Solomon had begun discussing the product he hoped to sell, he had already found tremendous favor in the buyer's eyes. I read a story about Rabbi Meir Schickman, who spent three years in a ghetto during the Holocaust and was later transferred to a labor camp. Each day the prisoners received only one piece of bread. Usually, people would eat the bread immediately, because if they waited it might be stolen, and going even one day without bread could endanger their lives. Rabbi Schickman had a different practice. Each Friday he would save his bread so that he could use it on Friday night to fulfill the mitzvah of Seudat Shabbat. One Friday, however, his bread was stolen. What pained him most was not his hunger, but the thought that he would not be able to fulfill the mitzvah of the Shabbat meal. In the camp there was a self-hating Jew who served as a police officer overseeing the prisoners' work. He was often even harsher toward the Jews than the Nazis themselves, and everyone was afraid of him. Rabbi Schickman desperately wanted bread for the Shabbat meal, and so he decided that he would ask this officer for bread. The other prisoners warned him not to do so, fearing he might be beaten simply for making the request. Nevertheless, the Rabbi approached him and asked. Amazingly, the officer gave him not just a little bread, but two large loaves—enough for everyone in his bunker to eat the Shabbat meals. Hashem can arrange a meeting. Hashem can place favor in someone's eyes. And Hashem can cause a person to give—even when, according to nature, there is no reason he should.
Episode Description:What's the one name that can instantly send Tricia into full‑blown outrage—and why does it always make for great radio?
Hashem's Name is not mentioned even once in the Megillah, yet He is involved in every last detail of it. Hashem, who has the past, present, and future revealed before Him at all times, orchestrates events long before they are needed so that His plan can ultimately come to fruition. The fact that the palace of Achashverosh was relocated to a small city called Shushan Habirah was itself a tremendous hidden miracle. That is where Mordechai lived, and that is where the salvation of the Jewish people was destined to unfold. The Vilna Gaon writes that the fact that Vashti decided to make her own party — seemingly for no reason — was only because Hashem was setting the stage for her to be summoned and ultimately removed from her position as queen. Hashem was arranging events years in advance, preparing the path for the moment when salvation would be needed. Haman suggested that Achashverosh grant himself the authority to act independently in any matter that concerned him personally, without consulting his advisors. Haman's intention was clear. He planned to later tell Achashverosh that the Jewish people were not following the king's directives. That would be seen as a personal affront to the king, giving him full power to decree annihilation upon them. But this, too, was the Yad Hashem. For later, when Esther would reveal that Haman sought to harm her, Achashverosh would now possess full independent authority to decree death upon Haman without consulting anyone else. The very mechanism Haman built for destruction became the instrument of his own downfall. The Megillah teaches us how to connect events in our own lives and recognize the Yad Hashem within them. When we step back, it becomes obvious how intimately Hashem is involved in each and every one of our lives. Someone recently sent me a story that was told by Sruli Shain on Stories to Inspire. He heard it firsthand from Shuli Rosenblum, who works at Bagel Hole in Brooklyn. One Friday afternoon, Shuli Rosenblum decided to bring home some leftover chocolate chip muffins from the bagel store for his family. On his way home, he stopped by his parents' house to visit his father, who had injured his leg and was resting with it elevated. He wished his parents Shabbat Shalom and left the muffins there so they could give them to the grandchildren if they came to visit. Mr. Rosenblum had his leg elevated on a special motorized footrest attached to his recliner, controlled by a lever on the side of the chair. Early Shabbat morning, at around 5:00 a.m., he woke up and began learning Chumash while sitting in that chair. He dozed off. His sefer slipped from his hands and struck the lever on the side of the chair, causing the entire chair to reposition forward. Not only could he no longer elevate his leg, he could not sit in the chair properly at all. Since he needed his leg elevated to recover, he went outside to see if anyone was walking by who could help him. He saw a man and tried to explain what had happened. The man responded, "Don't worry. I'm a Shabbos goy. I know exactly what to do." He came inside and fixed the chair. Before the man left, Mr. Rosenblum wanted to give him something in appreciation. He offered him one of the kosher chocolate chip muffins that his son had brought over the day before. The man suddenly turned pale. "I can't believe this," he said. "G-d really watches over His people." He explained that he works as a caretaker. Every Saturday morning, he visits an elderly Jew in his nineties, Mr. Fried. He helps him get ready for shul, gives him something to eat, and then accompanies him there. Usually, Mr. Fried's wife buys him a muffin for breakfast. But that Friday, she arrived at the bakery too late, and they were already closed. The caretaker assumed they would not know the difference and bought a chocolate chip muffin from a non-kosher grocery store. He was on his way to give it to Mr. Fried when he was unexpectedly stopped at 5:30 in the morning and offered a kosher chocolate chip muffin instead. Both men stood there in awe at how perfectly timed their encounter had been. After Shabbat, Mr. Rosenblum called the Fried family to tell them what had happened. They were even more moved. They explained that their father would often tell them that during the Holocaust, there were times he did not eat for days because he refused to eat anything non-kosher. Now, decades later, Hashem protected him once again, ensuring that his lifelong commitment to kashrut remained intact, even though he had no idea what was unfolding behind the scenes. Hashem is involved in every moment of every person's life.

Missionary pilots are some of my greatest heroes. See, missionary pilots fly around the world and land places where you think a plane could never land. They know how to take their plane apart; they know how to put it back together again. When I was in college, a few of my friends were in a missionary aviation course and it was tremendously competitive. They studied on campus for two years when we were there, and then if you made the list, if you made the cut, you went down south to the flight campus at an airport. I said if you made the cut. See, only half of the guys would end up going. One Friday afternoon they posted those names, and I watched my friend sweat it out all week long. For some I think it might have been the longest week of their life. Finally the day came and there was a list. You could hear the shouting of some of the guys who had just experienced one of the most exciting moments in their life, because they found out they had made the list! I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Hell's Highest Compliment." Our word for today from the Word of God: we're in Acts 19, and I'll begin at verse 13. "Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, 'In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.' Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day the evil spirit answered them, 'Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?' Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding." That's a pretty enlightening passage because it appears that the forces of darkness have a list of people they consider a threat. The demons said, "We know Jesus. We know Paul. Who are you guys? Let me check the list. You're not there." These guys used the right words and they tried to do spiritual things, but they were spiritually powerless. I always thought it would be a worthy if unusual goal to have my name known in hell. It's quite a list to be on, huh? I wonder if they've ever heard of me or you there? You don't make the list by attending meetings, or believing beliefs, or just saying Christian things, or even holding Christian offices. No, you make the Devil's list by making a difference for Christ. Maybe you've been under fire lately. You've felt some pressure physically, or financially, or medically, maybe emotionally. It could be in your relationships. Maybe it's marital. Well, it's not time to blame everything on the Devil. I"m not a fan of that. But it is possible you made his list. Maybe you've started to take Jesus seriously for the first time in your life. Maybe you're starting to take some risks to move out for Him. Maybe you're finally moving from being a spectator to being a player for Him. Or you're daring to speak out about Jesus to lost people. Or possibly you're checking out your priorities and considering leaving your comfort zone to serve the Lord - stepping up to spiritual leadership. Well, that means you are or you soon will be pushing back the darkness. A wise old pastor said, "The ferocity of Satanic attack upon you increases in direct proportion to your potential usefulness for Jesus Christ." That's true, but you have nothing to fear. No! The Bible says, "Greater is He that is in you than he who is in the world." But you need to know that the turbulence may be coming from the Devil, which is God's signal that it's time to get your armor on and fight with spiritual weapons. It may be that nothing is really wrong; something is very right in what's going on in your life. Your new commitment to Jesus Christ has set off an alarm bell in hell. When you're making a difference for Jesus, you're on the enemy's list, and honestly I hope you're on it. Making that list, you might say, is Hell's highest compliment.

The Net Promoter System Podcast – Customer Experience Insights from Loyalty Leaders
Episode 258: How did two new leaders turn angry customer calls into executive promises to earn customer trust and advocacy? Charlon McIntosh, Chief Customer Operations Officer, and Melissa Pint, Chief Digital Information Officer, both joined Frontier Communications on the same day in 2021. At the time, Frontier faced both bankruptcy and a reputation crisis: Millions of customer complaint calls were pouring in, with only one way to reach the company. Charlon and Melissa inherited a brand that customers didn't trust. To fix it, they built a system where complaints trigger commitments, leaders face weekly scrutiny, and new product and feature launches aren't approved until they are absolutely ready. "Our CEO, Nick Jeffery, outlined a very simple four-point strategy for us," says Charlon. "Build fiber, sell fiber, improve the customer experience, and improve our operational efficiency." In alignment with these goals, Frontier treated millions of monthly calls as a focus group, and started by redesigning its messy billing process. They used data on call reasons and complaint volumes to guide a weekly, two-hour "earning customer loyalty" meeting across departments. One Friday at a time, owners identified fixes, rather than providing chest-beating updates. Charlon and Melissa's collaborative relationship is an enviable example of cross-functional teamwork. They finish each other's sentences and share a single scorecard. "There is no IT strategy," Melissa says. "There is only the business strategy." "And customers tell us if it worked," adds Charlon. A digital-first agenda became the default. Customers now use chatbots for routine tasks, with a one-tap handoff to a person. Progress runs on shared operations and IT metrics, with the CEO actively observing from the customers' viewpoint, even using customer tools himself, to identify adjustments they could implement in real time. "We were able to shift adoption from nearly a hundred percent of our transactions being handled in a call center to today, where less than 20% of our interactions are assisted between chat and phone calls," Charlon says. "The point isn't deflection. It's a faster, better answer." They're telling us what's confusing, what's broken, what we've done wrong, where they need help, and where they need additional support. We used the reasons customers were calling as our initial guide to say what's happening." [10:00] "As a care leader, I have the data. I can tell my partners across the organization where we are making poor decisions and where we have low quality. It's the ability to get them to listen to me. That's what makes the difference in my team's success and our ability to improve the customer experience." [15:00] "As a turnaround company, since we did need to turn around pretty quickly, we did not have the luxury of completely changing core legacy backend systems. … Our strategy was to create a layer on top of them that would bring systems together." [18:00] "A digital-first strategy means things are going to start being automated, and you put things in your customer's hands; you're giving more power to your users to have automated tasks. That drives different traffic in your backend systems—different traffic patterns—that backend systems need to accommodate."

People often say, "Baruch Hashem, we're able to get by with our daily expenses, but we don't have enough to afford moving into a house." Some people have lived in small apartments with large families for years, dreaming of the day they can move into a more spacious home. Hashem has countless ways to provide a person with a home. He can lead them to find something at a very low price. He can inspire others to pitch in and help raise the necessary funds. He can bless the family with increased income to afford a home. The possibilities are endless. At the same time, it is possible that a larger home is not destined for someone. However, as we know, prayer and good deeds can change any decree. When a person is in need of a yeshua , it is always a good idea to focus on improving their prayers and committing to perform mitzvot properly. One man shared his experience when he needed 150,000 shekels to complete the down payment on a new home. The weight of it consumed his thoughts day and night. He had no natural way to obtain such a large sum and feared losing the opportunity to buy the house his family had longed for. He had already informed his current landlord they were moving out, and the family had started packing their belongings. His primary hishtadlut was heartfelt tefilla . One Friday afternoon, he called a chizuk hotline, and the rabbi on the line spoke about the immense power of keeping Shabbat properly. The rabbi explained that thinking about business or money on Shabbat is foolish. "Shabbat is the source of all monetary blessing," he said. "Someone who keeps Shabbat with the mindset that all of their affairs are complete and lets go of financial concerns, even in their thoughts, taps into the special blessings of Shabbat." Hearing these words, the man immediately resolved that, for the upcoming Shabbat, he would feel as though he was already wealthy and had all the money he needed. He committed to enjoying Shabbat without a single financial worry. After Shabbat ended, he prayed to Hashem to make this mindset a reality. Amazingly, the next day, he received 50,000 shekels from a completely unexpected source. The following Shabbat, he strengthened himself once again to banish financial concerns from his mind. He enjoyed Shabbat immensely, observing it in the best way he could. That Motzaei Shabbat, he prayed again with all his heart, and once more, Hashem sent him an incredible yeshua : that Monday, he received 75,000 shekels from another unexpected source. Throughout the week, he attempted to secure the remaining balance from other potential sources, but nothing materialized. Then came another Shabbat, and now, just two days remained before the balance was due. If he didn't have the money in time, he would lose the house. Strengthening himself like a lion, he resolved once more not to think about his financial struggles for even a moment. He focused his mind on feeling as though the money had already been provided. With that, he experienced yet another beautiful Shabbat. After Shabbat, he prayed with more intensity than ever before. Baruch Hashem , in the two days that followed, Hashem sent him the exact amount he needed—not a shekel more, not a shekel less. Hashem can provide for all our needs. Heartfelt tefilla and sincere good deeds are the greatest hishtadlut we can do.

Today is the 300th episode, so it's kind of a milestone. For this, I wanted to select one of MY all time favorite episodes. I like to think of this episode as the behind-the-scenes (or below the surface) stuff of achieving a better body and a better life!Typically when I record most episodes, I'll have pretty extensive notes to guide me through what I want to share. That wasn't the case for the episode you're going to hear today. One Friday, I sat down at my laptop and it just hit me. I wrote down three sentences, clicked record, and the rest just flowed out … like something that needed to be said … and hopefully needed to be heard. So, maybe that's enough of a mysterious intro to get you to listen to the next 10ish minutes. Because it's one of my favorite episodes. And it's a message I believe we ALL need to hear from time to time. It may or may not be for you today … but you don't know until you listen :) 1: TWO FREE LESSONS: https://coreylittlecoaching.com/free 2: PURCHASE RISE NUTRITION PRODUCTSWebsite: https://challenge2rise.com/Smart Energy: https://challenge2rise.com/product/smart-energy/Elite Omega-3 on Amazon: https://a.co/d/3dgilSGEssential Nutrients on Amazon: https://a.co/d/6rcULakElite Nutrients on Amazon: https://a.co/d/duQn1TDFREE MENOPAUSE DOWNLOAD: http://coreylittlecoaching.com/menopause
Too rich for my blood: The phrase "too rich for my blood" is an idiomatic expression meaning that something is too expensive or beyond one's financial reach. It conveys the idea that the cost or price of something is more than what the speaker is willing or able to pay. This phrase is often used in social or economic contexts to indicate that a particular item, activity, or lifestyle is financially out of reach for the person using the expression.Transcript:00:00:00JackHey, A is the English podcast listeners. It's Jack here and we just want to announce that we are now on WeChat. My name is Jack and I'm here with my co-host social. And today we are going to do an MI, the jerk episode and here's the situation.00:01:00JackUh, social you and a group of your friends have a tradition of going out for dinner every Friday night. Everyone in your group has generally similar financial situations, and you typically all choose moderately priced restaurants. One Friday, you suggest a new upscale restaurant that just opened in town. The menu.00:01:20JackIs significantly more expensive than your usual spot.00:01:24JackTwo of your friends expressed concerns about the cost, saying they can't afford to spend that much on dinner.00:01:31JackYou respond by saying, come on, it's just one night you can skip it. If you can't afford it. This statement causes tension and the group ends up splitting with some going to the upscale restaurant and others opting out entirely. Question, are you the jerk for suggesting the expensive restaurant and making the comment?00:01:52JackAbout affordability.00:01:54JackHmm.00:01:56XochitlNo, I don't think so. I think if I couldn't afford something and my friends would going to do it, I would be like.00:02:03XochitlYou know to have fun. Uh, tell me what it tell me. If it's good, I'll save up and maybe next time we can all go together.00:02:11XochitlBecause, you know, sometimes people are at different points and yeah, you have. Uh, you may make the same income, but you might have different responsibilities or people might be starting different projects or have different things they need to take care of, like student loans, rent. You know, you can make the same amount of money and have vastly different expenses.00:02:31XochitlAlso prioritize.00:02:32XochitlGuys. Uh, what? You spend your money on very differently. So someone might say, you know, I don't like spending a lot of money on dinner. I'd rather spend it on a hobby or, you know, I I'm saving up for a trip. Coming up in a couple of months or something, you know? So I wouldn't be upset.00:02:53XochitlYou know you can skip it if you if you can't afford it. I wouldn't take that.00:02:58XochitlAs a comment, you know calling me broke or trying to, like, hurt my feelings. I would just think, yeah, you know, I I can't afford it. Or maybe it's not my priority to spend my money there. I might respond that I might be like, well, I can sort it, but I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. But, you know, you guys have fun and enjoy it and tell me if it's any good.00:03:19XochitlAnd then maybe we can go together next time. So yeah, I don't think this person is a jerk. Maybe they could have.00:03:26XochitlUh, avoided that comment just because it could hurt a few people's it it could potentially hurt someones feelings, especially if they're already sensitive about maybe they have other expenses and they're stressed because they don't get to go, but I don't think it it was. It will. And so I wouldn't hold it against them. So I I don't think.00:03:45XochitlThey're the jerk.00:03:46XochitlHow about you, Jack?00:03:48JackUM, yeah, I I'm thinking the the the most like jerky point of the of of the part of the of the uh situation is when he says come on, it's just one night. You know, it's like what is, what does that have to do with anything like it's still money like though.00:04:08JackYou know, it could be one night, five nights. Whatever. It doesn't matter.00:04:15JackAnd UM. But the second part of his comment where he says you can skip it if you can't afford it. I think that's that's OK, you know, like, I I don't think like everyone has to be. It's it's really like it's an odd situation when you get older, when you go from your 20s to your 30s.00:04:35JackYou know, sometimes some of your friends are like graduating from medical school or get becoming lawyers or something, and they're moving into this, like, higher.00:04:44JackTheir income bracket and all of a sudden the things that they like to do are not exactly the same as the things you like to do, like a barbecue in the backyard. They like that, but they also might like going to the fancy new restaurant in town that cost, you know, 2 or $300.00:05:04JackFor a.00:05:04JackHere and you're you're just like 2 or $300.00 for a dinner that that pays for my child's braces, you know, or something like that, you know, you know, like, I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna throw $300.00 away for, you know, cold Robbie or something, you know, like, I'm not going to do that. So.00:05:26JackI I I, but I think your your answer is the best answer is that gracefully decline.00:05:36발표자And.00:05:36JackDon't make. Don't stop your feet and go like it's not fair. You know, like, you know what lifes? Not fair. You know what I mean? They have a right to go to the fancy restaurant if they want to. And you have a whole. You have a total right not to go and. But if you if you, if you make a big point out of like you know only everybody should only go to places that all of us can afford.00:06:00JackI don't think that's a fair request. I think you can just say like opt.00:06:04JackOut.00:06:04JackSay hey, tonight you guys, I'm just gonna hang at home, but I hope you have a good time and I'll catch up with you next week when we go to, you know, Burger King and watch a movie. You know, whatever.00:06:19JackWhat's wrong with that? I I don't know why you have to be, you know, hurt feelings over over over, uh, over that, you know?00:06:27XochitlI think potentially if it started migrating to the point where the group was.00:06:33XochitlSpending more on outings and you you couldn't really afford to see your friends at all anymore, then that would be a good time to bring it up and say, hey guys, you know.00:06:41XochitlI'm kind of.00:06:42XochitlGetting priced out of our get togethers and I was wondering if at least a couple of times you know every other time. Maybe we can go to a more affordable place.00:06:53XochitlUmm.00:06:54XochitlAnd you know, if your friends care about you and want you there, I'm sure that they won't be willing to meet. I'm sure they'll be willing to meet you in the middle at some point.00:07:04JackYes, I think that's that's a really fair point. I think it you know you you can say like hey at least like couple times a month, can we go to a place that's like affordable that everybody likes.00:07:14JackYou know, and then I can participate as well because, you know, I'm friends with you guys, but you know, you earn a lot more money than I do. And I think that in in that case, a lot of times they don't even think like that. You know, some most people think like, oh, if I have this much money, everybody has this much money, you know, you just you you're not you, you're not thinking.00:07:35JackClearly about like what other people are might be earning.00:07:40JackYou know, maybe your friend works for like an NGO or something like that, you know? And so they're, they're their income. They're they're doing something that they love giving back to the community, but they're not getting paid, you know, high salary as opposed to, like a lawyer or a Doctor Who's making a lot of money. It's it's totally fair.00:07:59JackJust say to them, hey, can we?00:08:02JackCan we go to, you know, the the the burger joints or the the pizza place? You know once in a while like the old days and they probably be happy. They probably love it you know like unless they're, you know, really stuck up people they they probably would enjoy going you know back to their roots and doing doing some of the stuff that you guys did when you were in college or.00:08:25JackWhen you were in your 20s.00:08:27JackSo.00:08:29JackYeah, I think your advice is is excellent. Yeah. And yeah, I would guess we're, you know, we're we're curious what.00:08:39JackWhat you guys think? Social. Do you want to take us out here with the?00:08:44XochitlAlright guys. -IPC is a tool to help us understand our mentee (and ourselves)Identity is WHO WE AREPurpose is WHAT WE DO Community is HOW WE BLESS AND ARE BLESSED BY OTHERSKing David had a high sense and value for HIS OWN identity, purpose, and community, therefore he was FREE to speak into and bless Mephibosheth's IPC as well! -Identity: David sits comfortably on his throne and yells Mephibosheth! -Purpose: David gives Mephib's rule over Saul's kingdom and is not threatened-Community: David invites Mephib to eat at his family's table daily because he knows there's enough foodOur PURPOSE is a direct result of our IDENTITY. How do I know what I'm supposed to do? It all starts with who I am!One Friday morning I woke up went out to the garage and started working on some furniture for our living room. Fast forward to an hour later when I was sitting in the ER having nearly cut off my toe. The problem was rooted in using the wrong tools for the job and being ill-equipped for the potential dangers of the task. If I had a higher respect for what could happen, I wouldn't have been wearing flip flops while using power tools in the garage. There is always a danger in using a tool in a way that goes outside of its identity. Ever use a crescent wrench as a hammer (let's be honest, we use everything as a hammer!) I once used a pocket knife to unsuccessfully pick a lock (yes I still have the scar on my finger). Ok, yes, I have a track record for confusing a tool's identity with its intended purpose because I'm lazy and don't wanna go get the right tool out of the toolbox! When we respect and value our IDENTITY as children of God, we make better choices when considering our intended PURPOSE in life which is to worship and serve the Lord! That, in turn, gives us confidence to care for and speak into our mentees' purpose. --Please follow @youcanmentor on social media and give us a 5 star rating! One Friday night in September last year, a massive hack at the MGM Grand caused quite a stir in Las Vegas. Cybercriminals used tricky tactics to slip through the cracks, infiltrating the network, and disrupting services at the hotel and casino. It's a wake-up call for everyone to step up their security game and stay one step ahead in this fast-changing world of cyber threats. More info at HelpMeWithHIPAA.com/453

My dear friend Bonnie is celebrating her birthday and a group of us will go salsa dancing on Friday. When I was chatting with her earlier this week, neither one of us could remember exactly when we met. Well, we remembered when we met, we just couldn't remember the year. We're pretty sure it was around 2000ish. Lol At that time, I was dancing once or twice a week around various places in Atlanta. One Friday night while I was at the Duplex listening to music and dancing in place, Bonnie came over and struck up a conversation. That act started the beginning of our friendship. Over the next 20+ years, we experienced a lot! Whenever I had a program and needed support, Bonnie was there. She would be there early, stay for the program, and help me clean up afterwards. In fact after I got married, my husband noticed whenever something was taking place whether it was people coming over to the house or an event that I was part of, Bonnie was there. I told him, we should all have a friend like Bonnie. If she can be there, she will be there from the beginning to the end. We have had countless meals together and laughed until we couldn't stop. We have traveled together and danced salsa in Miami and Puerto Rico until the wee hours of the morning. As we grew older, we would laugh the next day after we stayed out way too late and remind ourselves that we were not 25, 35, 45, or even 55. I have lost count of all the times Bonnie was there. Whether it was helping get my mom to an event because I needed to be there early or I checking on her when she was in the rehab center. I'm so grateful my mother got a chance to meet her. After my mother passed and when it was time to go through her things, Bonnie's support and presence was like a healing balm. Preaching from Pastor Rod Parsley's book "The Cross".
The Shomer Emunim writes in his maamar Hashgacha Pratit, perek 13, it is incumbent upon us to believe that everything that happens in our lives comes directly from Hashem, even the smallest, seemingly insignificant happenings. Like the Gemara says, if a person puts his shirt on inside out, or pulls out the wrong change from his pocket, even those are b'hashgacha peratit . The reaction is always supposed to be, “Hashem, I know this was from You and I believe it was for my best.” Sometimes it is so obvious that Hashem is involved in our lives. We need to appreciate how much He cares about every last detail and how He plans everything in advance to be ready for us, right when we need it. A woman told me she was going with her mother to visit a couple of people in the hospital. It was going to be a long day, as the hospital was very far from where they lived. They were in a rush to beat the traffic, and so the mother told this woman to make sure she's by her house at a certain time. The woman saw the time was getting late. She grabbed everything she needed for the day, slipped on her shoes and intended to grab her socks and put them on in her mother's car. But she ended up forgetting about the socks, and by the time she remembered, she was almost by her mother. It was going to be uncomfortable all day without socks but at this point she had no other choice. She got into her mother's car and they started driving. A few minutes into the trip her mother said, “I don't want to forget to ask you. I have had this pair of socks in my car for weeks. I asked everyone about them and no one knows whos they are. Are they yours by any chance?” The woman looked at them and said, “Yes, they're mine. I can't believe you have a pair of socks for me in your car right now.” She later said, “Hashem had these socks for weeks waiting for me for the time that I would need them.” The woman also said, every Friday she makes it a point to do the mitzvah of hafrashat challah . One Friday last year, she went to her freezer and saw there wasn't even a drop of space to store anything. If she would make challah that day, she would only need a few for Shabbat and as usual would want to freeze the rest, but this time there was no option of freezing it. So she debated whether or not to bake the challot that day. A few minutes later, she decided the main thing is to do the mitzvah of hafrashat challah and she would somehow find something to do with all the rest of the challot . When she finally finished baking, it was getting close to Shabbat and she didn't have any time to figure out what to do with the extra challot . She called her sister to see if perhaps she was out and would stop by and bring the challot to somebody in need. Her sister answered the phone and said she didn't have time to talk as she was on the other line with someone who needed chizuk . The woman quickly asked her if she was out and perhaps knew of somebody who could use challot for Shabbat. The sister couldn't believe what she was hearing. She said the person on the other line has been back and forth to the hospital for treatments for the past year. She never had an enjoyable Shabbat since her treatments began. Today, she finally has an appetite and just got home from the hospital. She mentioned a minute before this that she wished she could have fresh challot for Shabbat. They were both in awe of how Hashem put the thoughts in this woman's head to call her sister and how He made it that this sister would be talking to that other woman to find out that she wanted the challot . Every last detail of our lives is orchestrated by Hashem. We have to appreciate His hashgacha and thank Him all the time.
One Friday afternoon, as I drove home from work, I was already feeling frustrated. I had expectations for our Saturday that I knew would not be realized. Yet in that moment, the Spirit prompted me to “adjust my expectations,” to set aside my to-do list and make it my goal to love well. Expectations are a natural part of life. It is easy to get frustrated when reality does not measure up. Acts 20 records the story of Paul and his companions, meeting with the elders of Ephesus for the final time. After an extended trip from Troas, by ship and on foot (vv. 13–16), Paul finally arrived in Miletus. He avoided going to Ephesus himself, perhaps to save time or to ensure his own safety. So he sent for the elders of the Ephesian church and spoke frankly. Paul began by reminding them of his own testimony—how he “served the Lord with great humility” in their presence (v. 19). He boldly preached the gospel, even though he faced severe testing from the Jews. He preached and taught and called everyone (Jews and Greeks) to repentance and faith (v. 21). Paul also let the elders know that he was now heading to Jerusalem, “not knowing what [would] happen to [him] there” (v. 22). He expected “prison and hardships” because the Holy Spirit had warned him of such (v. 23). Yet—despite this reality—his singular goal was to preach the gospel of grace (v. 24). Finally, Paul called them to adjust their expectations. They, too, would encounter hardship (vv. 29–30), so Paul called them to stay on guard. Keep watch over the church, knowing that their reward would be eternal (v. 32). We demonstrate our love for God when we adjust our expectations to align with His will, rather than hanging tenaciously onto our own.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
