Folytatjuk Gyulay Zsolttal a beszélgetést, hiszen a megújuló Hungaroring hamarosan fogadni fogja a Forma-1 mezőnyét is.
Round 14 in Hungary gave us strategy battles, emotional radio messages, and a glimpse of shifting power in the paddock. In this week's episode, we recap a surprisingly tactical race at the newly upgraded Hungaroring...a.k.a “Monaco without the walls.” From the brand-new pit building to Alonso sitting out FP1 with a back injury, it was an unusual weekend from the start. We unpack the shock of Max Verstappen's terrible performance (starting P8 and finishing ninth), Leclerc's calm control from pole turning into radio rage, and the behind-the-scenes drama at McLaren as Norris and Piastri went head-to-head. McLaren secured their 200th F1 win and the fastest pit stop of the season... but were team orders the right call? Off-track, we dig into Max confirming he's staying at Red Bull, Fred Vasseur's re-signing with Ferrari, and some cute moments in Pat's social corner, from “girl dinner” memes to the F1 x 75th anniversary merch drop and Kimi Antonelli's viral high school moment in that Adidas bomber. Aston Martin scored their best result since Brazil 2023. Could this be a sign that "Adrian Newey" is already leaving his mark? We cover all that, plus our random moment of the week and green flag/red flag to close out the last race before summer break. Thinking about your next car? Oscar Piastri has lost two race wins to Lando Norris purely on luck! First, Silverstone, and second was today in Hungary. We predicted this "race strategy situation" in our race preview. The second McLaren (Norris, in this case) on the road would get the favoured tyre strategy in the race while the first McLaren (Piastri, in this case) would go chase Charles Leclerc for the race win. Was McLaren fair with their drivers who are the only two contenders for the Drivers' Championship in 2025? Did McLaren favour one driver or the other in the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix? Or did they maximise the team's result of a 1-2 finish irrespective of which driver finished first? And finally, was Norris a lucky winner of the Hungarian Grand Prix, a race where was the "slower" of the two McLarens and was in fact overtaken by two other cars (George Russell & Fernando Alonso) at the race start? Btw, Norris was very lucky that Alonso chose to not battle with him when the DRS was enabled. Why? Alonso, who was also on the one-stop, was the thorn in everyone else's race strategy. He executed a "Monaco-style" strategy at the Hungaroring (also known as "Monaco without the walls"). He bunched up the field and messed up tyre strategy for the other midfielders. Fair play to Aston Martin & Alonso who scored the team's best result of the season and maximised their points to jump two spots in the Constructors' Championship. Finally, Charles Leclerc revealed that the mysterious issue that he faced in the race wasn't the "front wing" adjustment at his pit stop, but in fact, an issue with his chassis that compromised his pace. Leclerc continued to not add to his already embarrassing "pole to win" conversion rate in Formula 1. Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, had another race to forget. He was one of those who was done in by Alonso's "slow pace" to finish 5th strategy. Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto impressed throughout the weekend and was the "Driver of the Day". As the summer break looms upon us, the question is whether Lando Norris will be comfortable knowing that he's brought the gap down to just 9 points, or whether he will know at the back of his head that Oscar Piastri would've actually been further ahead in the title battle if he was a tad bit luckier in two races - Silverstone and Hungary. Soumil Arora and Kunal Shah discuss the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix and how it all played out in strategy. #F1 #F12025 #HungarianGP Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Charles Leclerc grabbed a surprise pole position, his first of the 2025 Formula season, at the Hungaroring. But does he have the pace to win the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix against the mighty McLarens? On the contrary, does McLaren have a pace advantage that allows them to overtake Leclerc around a circuit that's famously known as "Monaco without the walls". How did McLaren lose their competitive advantage in the qualifying hour? What transpired in Q3 that brought Leclerc & Ferrari into play? And of course, why did Lewis Hamilton say he's "useless" and that Ferrari need a change in driver? Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen's magic saw him in Q3, but qualify behind a Sauber! Gabriel Bortoleto continued to impress with yet another Q3 session, while his team-mate and "Mr. Saturday" Nico Hulkenberg is now tied with Lance Stroll with the maximum Q1 exits in 2025. Is Aston Martin's pace for real, and if so, where did it come from? A double points finish in the race will propel them in tight the Constructors' Championship battle. Soumil Arora and Kunal Shah discuss the Qualifying session from the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix and look forward to the race & tyre strategy options for Sunday's race. #F1 #F12025 #HungarianGP Learn more about your ad choices. Previewing the 2025 Hungarian GP, Peter's intro compares the grit and talent of the Hungarian driver, Ferenc Szisz, with that of Nigel Mansell, who finished third in the first World Championship Hungarian GP 40 years ago; Szisz, in 1906, won the first-ever Grand Prix (the French GP at Le Mans) with his Renault. Before responding to more great questions and comments from listeners, Peter also talks about the updates to the Hungaroring, the loose wheel nut that cost Nigel the 1987 race and the 1991 Williams steering wheel that for a while ended up in a marshal's bag. Mercedes Reserve Driver Valtteri Bottas joins Tom Clarkson to look ahead to this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest. Before they dive into the big talking points, you'll hear from Max Verstappen after the four-time World Champion confirmed he'll be staying at Red Bull for 2026 to end weeks of speculation around his future. Oscar Piastri goes into the weekend 16 points ahead of Lando Norris at the top of the Drivers' Standings. Whose driving style does the Hungaroring circuit suit best out of the two McLaren drivers? And with the summer break meaning a four-week wait until the next Grand Prix in Zandvoort, how important is this weekend in the title race from a psychological point of view? Ferrari have announced that Team Principal Fred Vasseur has signed a multi-year contract with the team. What statement does that send about their intentions? And with Charles Leclerc scoring four podiums in the last six races, and Lewis Hamilton winning a record eight times in Hungary, will the team continue the progress they made with their rear suspension upgrade in Belgium? Plus, Valtteri gives us the lowdown on Mercedes – why have they struggled for performance in the European leg of the season? What are their chances of returning to the podium in Hungary? And what advice has he given Kimi Antonelli after his recent confidence issues?
Join host Tom Horrox and panelist George Howson as they look ahead to the twists, turns, and tyre talk of the Hungarian Grand Prix – where overtaking is rare, but chaos is never off the table. In this episode, the team breaks down the chances of every squad on the grid, from front-runners to midfield maybes, and debates who's most likely to shine at the tight and technical Hungaroring. Can Ferrari keep their form? Is this where Mercedes finally deliver? And does anyone know what's going on at Aston Martin? We also take a trip down memory lane, revisiting classic Hungarian GP moments – from surprise wins to famous fails – before George launches into another impassioned rant about Alpine's ongoing identity crisis, and Tom nervously watches Kimi Antonelli's lap times, praying he continues to outscore Alex Albon and win him a bet. All that plus weekend predictions, one-lap pace hot takes, and a whole lot of Hungarian history! The McLaren Momentum swings back towards Oscar post Belgian GP in the drivers championship as we head to the Hungaroring before the Summer break.
After an 80 minute rain delay and a brief spell on the Intermediates, it was Oscar Piastri that beat Lando Norris at the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix, and pushed the Australian's lead at the top of the Championship to 16 points. Stuart Codling sits down with Haydn Cobb and Ronald Vording to break down where it went wrong for Norris, the polarising weekends of the Red Bull drivers in their first weekend under Laurent Meikes' control, and the struggles of Mercedes' rookie Kimi Antonelli. There's also a look ahead to this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, at the newly revamped Hungaroring. Are McLaren set to keep their dominant advantage on the field? Learn more about your ad choices. We're heading back to the Hungaroring, and if last year taught us anything—it's that nothing is off the table in Hungary. In this episode, we preview all the chaos, controversy, and championship implications ahead of the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix. Oscar Piastri leads teammate Lando Norris by just 16 points—and he returns to the scene of his very controversial maiden win. Will team orders come into play at McLaren? Meanwhile, we revisit last year's meltdown between Max Verstappen and his team before his infamous divebomb on Lewis Hamilton. We break down what to watch for this weekend, make our bold (and possibly reckless) predictions, and give you everything you need to be race-ready. Buckle up. Hungary never disappoints.
Only one of Thierry Boutsen's three F1 wins came in dry conditions, but it was a famous victory, as he held off the field for the entire 1990 Hungarian Grand Prix, going as slowly as he could out front to make his tyres last the distance without requiring a pitstop. Edd Straw and Andrew van de Burgt join Glenn Freeman to look back on Boutsen's masterclass, and the chaos that went on behind him, including two collisions that involved McLaren drivers punting people off at the Hungaroring's tricky chicane. Plus, we dissect Ayrton Senna's race, as he came back from a puncture to miss out on victory to his good friend by 0.2 seconds. As always we work our way through the other big topics in F1 at the time, including Nigel Mansell's supposed retirement, Williams trying to sign Senna, Benetton laying the foundations for its mid-1990s title success, the decline of Lotus, and Eddie Jordan getting very upset with the politics of F1 before his team had even joined the grid. On this episode, host Edd Straw and former F1 technical director Gary Anderson turn the spotlight on Red Bull, after the world champion team introduced new upgrades at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Gary gives his thoughts on Red Bull's 'mix and match' approach to bodywork at each circuit, and discusses whether these updates will help Red Bull stem the tide against McLaren, who are seemingly going from strength to strength. Ahead of that, Gary gives his view on the McLaren team orders situation at the Hungaroring, drawing parallels to his own experience of dealing with similar scenarios from the pit wall. And to round off the episode, Gary answers four more questions from listeners, on steering wheel tyre modes, aerodynamic testing restrictions, what Gary would change about the 2026 regulations, and whether there are any historical precedents for a team swapping between such visually distinctive bodywork arrangements in the same season, as Red Bull have.
Round 13 of the Formula One World Championship took to the Hungaroring for the Hungarian Grand Prix. A second new winner this season, with Oscar Piastri taking his maiden win over a frustrated Lando Norris that brewed up a bit of drama on the McLaren pitwall. A 2021 style collision between Verstappen and Hamilton topped off a fine weekend out in Budapest that now puts us at 7 winners in 13 races. Elsewhere around the paddock, Audi are taking BP as their fuel supplier, Kevin Magnussen announced his departure from Haas and Esteban Ocon received his 2021 Hungarian GP race winning car. Yuki Tsunoda has potential for a Red Bull promotion in 2025, the 2026 regulations have gotten even worse, and our famous friends from The Grand Tour have disbanded after decades together on television. This week wrapped up with coverage of F2, WRC, WEC and Formula Drift as we coast into the Belgian GP week next week before a few weeks Off The Gravel for the summer break. Enjoy and take care!

After a week-long break following the British Grand Prix that saw Lewis Hamilton win for the first time in 2 1/2 years, we're back at the Hungaroring where all eyes are on Sergio Perez as Red Bull mull over his future with the team. Meanwhile, with 4 constructors winning the last 11 races, do we have a legitimate title fight happening at the front of the grid? --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thegrandstandf1/support

Hungría no favorece a Red Bull. Mercedes has never won "three in a row" in this era of Formula 1. Can they claim this stat by winning the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix? Based on the 2024 British Grand Prix, Mercedes is one the fastest teams in Formula 1, if not the fastest. But of course, they won the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix only because Max Verstappen-Lando Norris had a fallout on track (and George Russell was 15 seconds behind the lead pair). Of all the current teams, Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton have the best stats for the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix in the last decade! Hungaroring was built to mimic the circuit of Monaco, and it isn't surprising that the technical requirements (high downforce!) have labelled this circuit just outside of Budapest as "Monaco without the walls". Will Red Bull Racing be troubled at the Hungaroring as they were in Monaco? Will McLaren be as quick - as they've been everywhere, and will this be the race they finally start delivering "perfect" races, and what about Ferrari? The team that won in Monaco; will they be back in the fight at "Monaco without the walls"? The drivers silly season might see some announcements - Esteban Ocon to Haas to be finally confirmed? As for the others, all eyes on Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez - the two big movers in the market. Yes, Perez has a signed contract for the next two season (2025 and 2026), but given his current form and struggles to resurrect, one wonders if Red Bull Racing will take up their option on the "performance clause" that is often rumoured. Tom Clarkson and Damon Hill are joined by Mercedes Engineering Director, Andrew Shovlin, for F1 Nation's preview of the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix. Mercedes are on a roll. They've won back-to-back races for the first time since 2021. Will they make it three in a row in Budapest, or will Red Bull, McLaren or Ferrari take another win in this unpredictable season? Andrew talks about the celebrations after Lewis Hamilton's sensational win at Silverstone and why the seven-time World Champion was back to his very best, how much scope Mercedes have to continue getting better in 2024, whether they'll be in the mix for victory again this weekend and why the Hungaroring represents a big test for their car. Also on the agenda: have Red Bull reached their peak of development under the current regulations? And what have McLaren learned from missed opportunities in the last four races? 6 winners so far in 2024. Don't miss the chance to see F1 live this season Tickets for races in the USA, across Europe and around the world are on sale now. Go to tickets.formula1.com to book your place at a Grand Prix.
LEWIS. WON. We pull apart the steps that led to the season's most emotional race ending yet, as Lewis found his way back to the top step at his home race. That moment also marked Merc's second straight win.Given that and McLaren's meteoric rise in the last 6 races, do we have a dead heat between a new top 3 cars? Which is partially to say: has Ferrari totally fallen behind? We break down the triple header drama that just finished and look ahead to the second half of the season. Can Max & Lando stay true through adversity? Could we see more race winners on our hands? What should Red Bull do with Checo? Who will the diamond of the season (Mr. Newey) choose? There are more questions than answers but we lay out predictions and hopes and dreams for the rest of the season which is totally up for grabs all of a sudden!Next up, Hungaroring! For more high-octane content, send us your race reactions or dish out some F1 tea:twitter: @modepushf1 instagram: @modepushf1 web: www.mode-push-f1.come-mail: modepushf1@gmail.com
