In this episode of the show, we cover a lot of ground. From India's Test squad, to the women's and men's Ashes, across to the ICC World Cup Qualifiers and back to New Zealand. We start by discussing India's Test squad for their upcoming tour to the West Indies, which does not include Cheteshwar Pujara, but instead features the young talents of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Was it the right call?More Ashes content follows, as the two series continue to deliver maximum entertainment both on and off the field. We recap a closely fought women's Test, which saw individual highlights for Tammy Beaumont, Sophie Ecclestone, Ash Gardner, Annabel Sutherland and many others, and another Australian victory. On the men's side, it's been non-stop banter. Zak Crawley's predicting a big win for England. Ollie Robinson is claiming a points victory, but Pat Cummins and his Australian side have preferred to let the former players do the majority of the talking.Over in Zimbabwe, it's been a run-fest so far at the ICC ODI World Cup Qualifiers. The home side has been piling on the runs, and are in pole position to nab one of the two remaining 2023 World Cup spots as the Super Six begins. On the other hand, the West Indies' campaign is in tatters after their second loss of the tournament - Logan van Beek's incredible Super Over, in which he plundered 30 from the bowling of Jason Holder, saw The Netherlands home after the scores were tied at 374 (no that's not a typo) at the end of the first 100 overs. To round out the show, we discuss Kane Williamson's social media tease, as well as the impact of Michael Bracewell's injury for the Black Caps' World Cup chances and Leigh Kasperek's return to the White Ferns. We'll be back next week to wrap the second men's Ashes Test between England and Australia, plus the World Cup qualifiers and anything else that grabs our attention across the cricket world. Sunrisers Eastern Cape won a fierce bidding war against MI Cape Town and Johannesburg Super Kings to snap up their homegrown star-in-the-making.   Uncapped 24-year-old batter Donavon Ferreira, who plays for Titans in the South African domestic circuit, created a big stir. Having listed his base price at Rand 175,000 (USD 10,000 approx.), Ferreira, who also bowls a bit and keeps wicket, was eventually snapped up by Super Kings for Rand 5.5 million (USD 310,000 approx.) in the accelerated round of the auction. The winning bid came after some chaos, as Paarl Royals and Pretoria Capitals both tried to outbid Super Kings but were forced to pull out as they didn't have much left in their purse at that point and had other spots still to fill - if they were allowed to keep bidding, they would have run out of the money needed to fill their quota of 17 players. Ferreira has played 19 T20s so far, and boasts a strike rate of 148.26 and an average of 54.85.   The Jansen brothers - Duan and Marco - were also in demand, with Marco joining Stubbs at Sunrisers for Rand 6.1 million (USD 344,000 approx.) and Duan going to MI for Rand 3.3 million (USD 186,000 approx.). Marco is already part of the Sunrisers franchise in the IPL, while Duan was recently with the Mumbai Indians development squad that toured the UK.   Kolpak-returnee Rilee Rossouw, who has played T20 cricket around the world, also hit paydirt, with Capitals forking out Rand 6.9 million (USD 389,000 approx.) for him. Wayne Parnell, another Kolpak returnee, also triggered a bidding war, which was won by Capitals too. They outbid Super Kings and got the left-arm seam-bowling allrounder for Rand 5.6 million (USD 316,000 approx).   However, there were no takers for South Africa's T20I captain Temba Bavuma and Test captain Dean Elgar.

Jason Holder is the Founder of Adventure Lore and has taught adventure programs to teens since the early 80s. He is a General Practitioner who primarily focuses on and works with ADHD, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, and family work. Jason is also the author of two books in Adventure Therapy and Adventure Activities. In this episode, Jason shares how you can keep a strong bond with your teen as they go through a very rebellious time.    Key Takeaways For most teens and all the way up to people in their early 20s, growing up is such a complex time.  Why are teens so rebellious? Jason shares a lesson in chemistry and psychology. What mistakes do parents make when trying to build a deeper bond with their teenager?  Despite wanting more connection and going out and creating fun memories, teenagers just seem to want to play video games all the time? Jason offers advice on how to overcome this.  How do you find the balance between being a parent vs. just being their friend?  If you don't have time now, you're really not going to have time later when they're out of the home. Now is the time to build these memories with your children.  Life is not about what happens to us, it's about how we adapt to the challenges. Our goal as parents is to teach children how to persevere.  When is it time to go to a counselor or have your teen go see one?  Jason is worried that with the pandemic and technology, children will not know how to interact with each other when they come back to social settings.    Sponsored by Stand Up for Your Greatness! Edgerety.com/education   Resources Adventurelore.org   Quotes:   “Every parent wants to have a strong connection with their teenager, and yet it's one of the most challenging and frustrating things for parents to be able to do.”    “A good parent is a friend of the child as well. It's a huge factor. Being able to play with your kids and have fun with your kids is critically important.”    “We teach kids how to persevere. Back in the early summer of 2020, as lockdown hit hard, we spoke to West Indies star Jason Holder at his home in Barbados about the problems faced by the arrival of Covid-19 and how plans were shaping up for a proposed tour to England by the West Indies. He spoke about captaining his side and how T20 franchised leagues were either a help or a hindrance to Test cricket. He looked back with warmth on his time spent playing in England for Northants and also making a couple of appearances for Brentwood CC! A great chat and we were lucky to get some of his valuable time.
