The sacred isn't far away, or locked away in a temple, a ritual, or some otherworldly realm. The sacred is the invisible thread running through the entire tapestry of life—right here, right now. In this deeply reflective episode, Raghunath and Kaustubha explore the Vedic concept of otam-protam—the warp and weft of reality—revealing how divinity is interwoven through every moment, every element, every being. From the descent of the sacred Ganges to the subtle presence of God in all things, this episode invites you to shift your lens and recognize the divine fabric behind the visible world. Also featured is a moving tribute to Al Barile of SSD—a hardcore punk pioneer whose unexpected connection to the Bhāgavatam is a reminder that even the toughest exteriors can carry a sincere spiritual search within. Key Highlights: • What “warp and weft” teaches us about the nature of reality • C.S. Lewis on the God who walks everywhere incognito • Why seeing God in everything is the highest yoga • How the Ganga purifies not just bodies, but the mind and heart • Al Barile's surprising connection to bhakti and the search for truth Whether you're walking through a city street, sitting in nature, or standing in a mosh pit—the thread of the sacred is already there. Learn to see it.

Can water actually wash away your karma? For thousands of years, pilgrims have journeyed to the Ganges River with unwavering faith that her sacred waters can liberate the soul. But where does that power come from? And why is it believed that even the most sinful acts can be purified through a simple bath in her current? In this episode, Raghunath and Kaustubha explore the profound story of King Bhagirath and the descent of the Ganga, as told in the pages of the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam. Together, they unpack ancient insights into how grace flows through sacred elements, and how divine consciousness transforms even the physical elements of this world. Key Highlights: • Why Bhagirath's mission to bring down the Ganges spanned generations • The deep Vedic symbolism of “lotus feet” and approaching the divine from the ground up • Ganga's own doubts—can she handle the sins of the world? • What makes something sacred in bhakti: form, faith, or transcendental connection? Get ready to rethink what it means to be purified, and how spiritual energy can travel through water, sound, and intention to change the destiny of a soul.

Ganga means one who speeds up our journey or evolution and who unites us with the Goal OF life. She flows from Brahmaji's kalash to Vishnu Bhagwan's foot during the Vamana Avatar and from there to the jata of Shivji before flowing on the earth due to Bhagirath's penance. So she is symbolic of Jnana, Bhakti and Seva. She is held by Bhagawan Shiva in his jata symbolic of humbling of her pride and power of Shiva ji's tapasya. Another symbolism is Gangaji is symbolic of Brahmavidya or the knowledge of the Self which is very subtle & difficult to understand. Bhagawan Shiva is the Adi Guru who has realised this knowledge through tapas or austerity and brings this knowledge to the disciples in small understandable doses. Two soil science powerhouses from Kansas State University: Dr. Ganga Hettiarachchi and Dr. Charles Rice explore a fundamental but often overlooked question—are all soil nutrients the same? The simple answer, no. Not all nutrients are created equal. The source matters. The form matters. And the way nutrients interact with soil minerals, microbes, and organic matter? It's a whole other level of complexity. We also talk about carbon—how it moves, how it's stored, and how it could be the key to building resilient soils that thrive for generations. This is the Catchup on 3 Things by The Indian Express and I'm Ichha Sharma.Today is the 19th of February and here are the headlines. In a major development, Bharatiya Janata Party today confirmed after the legislature party meeting that senior leader and Shalimar Bagh MLA Rekha Gupta has been appointed as the new Chief Minister of Delhi, New Delhi MLA Parvesh Verma is set to become the Deputy CM, and Rohini MLA Vijender Gupta was appointed as speaker of the Delhi Assembly. The BJP returned to power in Delhi after 27 years, having won a clear majority of 44 out of 70 seats in the Assembly election, the results of which were declared on 8th of February. The swearing-in ceremony for the new chief minister is scheduled for tomorrow 20th of February at Ramlila Maidan.Moving on to another major story, with many Nepali students who were asked to leave the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology University campus in the aftermath of the suicide of an engineering student yet to return to their hostels. The Indian Express has learnt that senior Nepal embassy officials have raised concerns over their safety and security. Two senior officials from the Nepal embassy in Delhi are in Bhubaneswar to hold discussions with Odisha government representatives over the death of 20-year-old Prakriti Lamsal, an engineering student at Odisha's KIIT, and the safety of protesting Nepali students. Lamsal, who is from Nepal's Kathmandu, died on campus Sunday evening, sparking a standoff between Nepali students and the university administration. In another news making headline, the National Green Tribunal rapped the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board and the Uttar Pradesh government for not submitting adequate details on faecal coliform and other water quality parameters, such as oxygen levels, in the river Ganga in Prayagraj. It granted the state government a week to place on record the latest water quality analysis reports from different points of the river at the Maha Kumbh Mela site in Prayagraj. A bench of NGT was hearing the matter on the compliance of a December order, wherein it had directed the UP government and the Central Pollution Control Board to ensure that water quality in rivers Ganga and Yamuna was fit to drink and bathe in during the Kumbh.Meanwhile, in the news from the North, The Uttarakhand Cabinet today approved a new draft law banning people from outside the state from buying agricultural and horticultural land in 11 of the state's 13 districts. The new draft law will be tabled in the ongoing Budget Session of the Assembly. In a tweet, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami called it a “historic step”. Under the new draft law, people from outside the state, except for Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar, will not be allowed to purchase horticultural and agricultural land, and district magistrates will no longer have the authority to approve land purchases. On the global front, US President Donald Trump defended the Department of Government Efficiency's decision to cancel a 21-million-dollar grant intended to support voter turnout in India today. Questioning the necessity of such financial aid, Trump cited India's economic growth and high tariffs as reasons why US taxpayer money should not be allocated for this purpose. Trump during a press conference remarked, quote “Twenty-one million for voter turnout in India — why are we giving them this money?” unquote. This was the Catch Up on 3 Things by the Indian Express

Romi v Romuniji so druga največja etnična skupnost. Zelo počasi, a poteka.

This is the Catchup on 3 Things by The Indian Express and I'm Ichha Sharma.Today is the 17th of January and here are this week's headlines. An estimated 40 crore people are expected to descend on the banks of the Ganga in Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela, which commenced on Monday and will end on February 26. Besides this, 50 lakh pilgrims and sadhus plan to stay in camps for the entire duration of the event. The spiritual festival, held every 12 years, attracts millions of devotees who gather to bathe at the sacred Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers converge. It is the world's biggest religious gathering, with deep links to Hindu mythology wherein participants seek forgiveness for their sins and aspire for Moksha, or spiritual liberation.Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Z-Morh tunnel at Sonamarg, a strategic infrastructural project that is key to all-weather connectivity to Ladakh. The tunnel has been renamed as Sonamarg tunnel, after the famous tourist resort that will have round-the-year connectivity after this project. PM Modi inspected the 6.5-kilometre tunnel and interacted with workers who played a role in its construction. The soft-opening of the tunnel was carried out in February last year, but Assembly elections delayed the project's official inauguration. The Indian Space Research Organisation successfully docked its SpaDeX satellites on Thursday, after bringing them within 3 meters of each other. Following the docking, ISRO confirmed the satellites were functioning as a single unit. The space agency mentioned that undocking and power transfer checks would follow in the coming days. The docking process had previously been delayed twice, on 7th and 9th of January, due to technical issues. The satellites were launched on 30th December. On the global front, Los Angeles firefighters faced high winds over the week as they battled two massive wildfires that have caused extensive destruction, killing at least 24 people. The fires, which have scorched an area the size of Washington D.C., were egzazzerbated by Santa Ana winds, with gusts reaching up to 75 mph. Over 8,500 firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the blazes and prevent further spread, as authorities issued a red flag warning for dangerous conditions in the region.Meanwhile, a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israeli negotiators is set to end the 15-month Gaza conflict, with the deal taking effect on January 19. The agreement, brokered by US President Joe Biden, includes swapping hostages for imprisoned Palestinians in Israel. Biden, who played a pivotal role in the negotiations, views this achievement as a significant foreign policy legacy. While he is credited with ending the bloodiest phase of the Israel-Gaza conflict, he shares this accomplishment with his successor, Donald Trump. This was the Catch Up on 3 Things by the Indian Express

General Dwivedi further stated quote, “Our deployment is balanced and robust; we are capable of handling any situation.” unquote. While talking about the future of LAC, the army chief said that they are currently focused on boosting border infrastructure and capability development. The Indian Express exclusively reported that after unprecedented footfall in 2023 the Capital's mohalla clinics saw a 28 per cent dip in 2024 to 1.39 crore appointments. An application filed under the Right to Information Act and official documents sourced by The Indian Express have revealed that the decline, health department officials, doctors and experts say, is primarily due to a drug shortage that the mohalla clinics faced last year. Mohalla clinics, the centrepiece of the Aam Aadmi Party government's health infrastructure, were first set up in October 2015. Since then, the clinics, which are meant to be the first point of contact for patients with basic illnesses, have caught the attention of many from across the world. The death toll in the devastating Los Angeles wildfires has risen to 24, the LA County Medical Examiner confirmed today. As forecasters predict a return of strong winds this week, authorities warn that the toll is likely to rise, as per news agency Reuters . Firefighters continue to scramble to make headway with search and rescue operations against the blazes that have destroyed thousands of homes. The Palisades fire has burned through 23,723 acres and is only 13 per cent contained, while the Eaton fire, near Pasadena, has scorched 14,117 acres and is 27 per cent contained. Authorities report that at least 24 people are still missing, and the scale of destruction across the region is vast, with more than 12,000 structures damaged. This was the Catch Up on 3 Things by the Indian Express

There's a difference between how you might feel before going on yātrā and after you were on the yātrā. Generally, devotees report that before the yātrā, they may be slightly distracted. Their sadhana might be restrained or slow, but after the yātrā, they feel, "Oh, I want to keep on track." So just stay on yātrā all the time. And that's the beauty of bhakti; you can do that. You can do it in Seattle. You can do it in Portland. You can do it in Mumbai, where Manasi Ganga is. You can do it in New York City. Can you do it in New York City? A good concept. London. Definitely do it in London. It means we have festivals—more festivals than any other religion in the world. Some people, they go to church once a week and just go and drink a little wine from the cup, and that's all they get. Maybe a little singing in church and stuff like that, but we have singing, dancing, food, everything. We're deeply grateful that you host us here every year at this, to me, the most beautiful of all ISKCON temples in the world. Because you've got Ganga right here in your backyard. This is a place of explosive pastimes, especially from Lord Nityānanda, who saved Raghunātha Dāsa by giving him his unconditional mercy. So we can pray for that unconditional mercy in this place, Pānīhāṭī, where Lord Nityānanda showed his causeless mercy and held a festival just to attract all the souls of the world. So, interestingly, like in the Bhāgavatam, when Sūta Goswami was promoted to the point of the leader of all the sages in Naimiṣāraṇya, he was called Ugraśravā. This word "Ugraśravā" means, you know, Ugranṛsiṁha, Ugrakarma—it's like fierce, incredibly heavy, "Ugra." "Ugraśravā" means somebody who's just totally leaned into hearing, Ugraśravā—they just made it their whole existence to hear the Vedic wisdom, as also mentioned in the Bhāgavatam later on (SB 11.3.21): tasmād guruṁ prapadyeta jijñāsuḥ śreya uttamam śābde pare ca niṣṇātaṁ brahmaṇy upaśamāśrayam "One who is qualified to speak about the absolute truth is one who is śābday brahma niṣṇātam." They've taken a dip in the ocean of transcendental knowledge; they actually swam around in there, and then they come out like drenched. So, Ugraśravā is a very important point. Śraddhādhānāḥ, seriously inquisitive, means somebody who actually leans into hearing and hears all the relevant topics in a faithful way—faithful to one's lineage and one's guru. The mood is important also, not that I just go here, there, and everywhere collecting information. In fact, there's an admonition given in the Kṛṣṇa-bhajanāmṛta by Śrī Narahari Sarakāra Ṭhākura, whose samādhi you definitely run into this when you go to the Rādhā-Dāmodara temple in Vṛndāvana because when you're doing the circumambulation, his samādhi is right there at the caddy-corner is a good word to use, I think to Rūpa and Sanātana's samādhi. Just going around the corner, it's right there at the end—you can offer obeisances. He wrote a book called Śrī Kṛṣṇa-bhajanāmṛta, and in it, he talks about the mood of the devotee and how we should appreciate all Vaiṣṇavas. One of the ways he talks about it is that the Ganga has ripples and little waves sometimes, and he says whether the ripple is big or small, it's still the Ganga. So, whether a devotee is big or small in the estimation of the society—say, "Well, that's just a little devotee," or, "There's a big devotee here,"—it's still Ganga water, still it is worshipable. He goes on to say that when one accepts guidance in the paramparā system and accepts a Guru, even when one goes and takes information from others, he should bring that information back to the Guru and say, "This is what I collected," and offer it first to the Guru. Then the Guru also substantiates it, accepts it in the right mood. So, he said, in that way, one should carefully tune oneself to the mood of the sampradāya. In this verse, "tac chraddadhānāḥ," seriously inquisitive also means the mood in which one collects. As is mentioned in the śāstra, if one is faithful to Guru and Kṛṣṇa, then all the imports of Vedic knowledge become available. Does anybody know the verse? Take the mic, and you can say.
