This episode I talk a little about Mother's Day before getting into a huge milestone...my older girls officially landed their FIRST summer jobs as lifeguards. Honestly? Elite summer job energy/Big girl energy! While they're training, I become completely distracted by the many alligator warning signs and start overanalyzing the fencing around the water because apparently that's who I am now. Then comes the moment that sends me spiraling.A casual shopping trip to the outlets turns into a random run-in with Houston legend Paul Wall. I literally looked at him and asked, “Excuse me… is your name Paul?” Meanwhile, his grill had already answered for him.
I took the seatbelt off this podcast. No script, no playing safe, no asking the algorithm for permission. I walked off a coaching call, fired up and brought it straight to you—unfiltered, a bit pushy, and fun. If you've been giving borrowed answers about purpose and watching from the sidelines, I'm coming for that today. We'll discuss what you were actually put here to do, why pressure kills your best work, and the difference between observing and engaging in your life. Press play. The nicest renegade you'll ever meet is at the mic. Featured Story On today's call, Kim said something that caught my attention. She started quoting her resume, like everyone does, when you asked what she was here to do. Boring. Boring. Boring. Then out came the word conviction. I sat up. At the end, I asked for her conclusion—our usual. She replied with one word: activation. I caught it instantly. Activation isn't something that happens to you. It isn't waiting for the mood to strike. It's a choice. Conviction in things, switched on by you. The minute Kim said it out loud, she heard what she'd been missing. Important Points * Activation is a choice you make, not a circumstance. Don't wait to feel ready—decide to be ready, and conviction will follow. * Pressure squeezes out your best work. When you're stuck, stop forcing it and start playing—watch the better version of you show up. * Borrowed answers about purpose keep you safe and stuck. Ditch the generic script—say what only you can say. Memorable Quotes * Your circle is your ceiling. Elevate your thinking, and you'll find you can't hang around people who don't push you. * Gratitude is just the front door, not the room. There's a place past it where you stop needing and start becoming. * Pressure doesn't boost your output; it squeezes it. The harder you push, the harder it gets. Instead, go have some fun. Scott's Three-Step Approach * Catch yourself giving borrowed answers. When 'make an impact' or 'leave a footprint' rolls out, that's the safe script. * Now activate. Don't wait for the feeling — decide on conviction, flip yourself on, and let your real voice come out. * Then interact. Get off the bench, take one real action today, and watch your life move toward what you actually want. Chapters 1:32 - Why I took the seatbelt off this podcast 3:36 - Outside the Walls and the student who showed up 5:38 - Borrowed answers about your real purpose 8:37 - The one word Kim said that stopped the call 12:10 - Pressure strangles your best work — go play 15:19 - Your circle is your ceiling — raise the room 17:33 - Gratitude is just the front door, not the room Connect With Me Search for the Daily Boost on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify If you're ready for more insight and direct coaching from me, sign up for Notes From Scott at https://notesfromscott.com. You're trying to build a positive culture—but performance keeps slipping, and no one is saying what needs to be said. This episode breaks down why “niceness” often replaces truth inside teams, and how that tradeoff quietly drives poor decisions and repeated losses. The Jay Franze Show: Your backstage pass to the entertainment industry
Some artists sound dangerous onstage and turn out to be the kindest people you'll ever meet, and that contrast kicks off a wide-ranging music conversation we can't stop thinking about. We dig into a list of rock musicians known for having genuinely good reputations, then swap stories about what “nice” looks like when the lights are off and the backstage pass is real. Along the way we talk about why fans remember small moments forever and how an artist's character becomes part of their long-term legacy. Then we hit the week's music news across country and rock: tour expansions, streaming-era release strategies, and the genre lines that keep getting blurrier. We unpack Zach Bryan's surprise drops and direct-to-fan approach, the steady rise of festival headliners who can move between country and rock, and what it even means to call someone a “legacy band” now. From Foo Fighters and Green Day to Metallica's in-the-round stadium production, we look at how veteran acts stay relevant while new artists rewrite the rules. The question of the day turns into a full-on backstage fantasy draft: if you had all-access for one night, who are you choosing and why. We compare craft-focused picks with pure chaos picks, read listener answers, run through country and rock charts, and close with mailbag questions that get surprisingly real: is country radio “too safe,” does a great mix still matter, and is a record deal in 2026 worth chasing if you want a real team behind you.Episode LinksScotty Simpson: https://jayfranze.com/episode3/Bob Bullock: https://jayfranze.com/episode28/Bruce Reiter: https://jayfranze.com/episode67/William Lee Golden: https://jayfranze.com/episode72/Blake Tyler: https://jayfranze.com/episode120/Mark Badolato: https://jayfranze.com/episode140/Stephanie Rabus: https://jayfranze.com/episode149/RJ Preston: https://jayfranze.com/episode205/Send us Fan MailSupport the showLinksJay Franze: https://jayfranze.com/JFS Countdowns/Playlists: https://jayfranze.com/playlists/ContactContact: https://jayfranze.com/contact/SocialsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/jayfranzeTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@jayfranzeX: https://x.com/jayfranzeYouTube: https://youtube.com/@jayfranzeServicesServices: https://jayfranze.com/services/BooksBooks: https://jayfranze.com/books/MerchandiseMerchandise: https://jayfranze.com/merchandise/SupportSupport: https://jayfranze.com/support/Sponsor the Show: https://jayfranze.com/sponsor/

Dan Severn is a pioneering figure in combat sports, known for his dominance in both mixed martial arts and professional wrestling. Since his high school days in Coldwater, Michigan, Severn built his athletic foundation as an accomplished amateur wrestler, earning All-American honors at Arizona State University. He rose to prominence in the early days of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where his grappling-heavy style and physical strength earned him the nickname, "The Beast." Severn became a two-time UFC tournament champion and later captured the UFC Superfight Championship, helping lay the foundations for the sport during its formative years with his disciplined, wrestling-based approach. Beyond MMA, Severn achieved notable success in professional wrestling, becoming a rare athlete to bridge the gap between "the octagon" and "the squared circle". He held the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship for over four years, one of the longest reigns in the title's history, and also competed in WWE during the late 1990s. Known for maintaining his amateur wrestling persona, Severn brought a unique authenticity to pro wrestling, rarely straying from his real-life fighting style. With a career spanning decades and a legacy rooted in toughness, versatility, and credibility, Severn remains one of the most respected figures in combat sports history. From his home base in Arizona, Dan continues to help athletes of all ages and stays busy assisting others to reach their goals. To reach him regarding training or other ventures, he can be emailed at dan@dansevern.com.

In this classic laugh-out-loud episode of the Proper True Yarn Podcast, The Baron drops one of his all-time great travel stories from his first wild night in Amsterdam. What starts as a harmless Europe trip with his then fiancée quickly escalates into sex shows, cheap joints, tour groups getting loose, and a nightclub that somehow empties out without him noticing. After getting absolutely cooked and separated from everyone he knows, The Baron finds himself wandering the streets of a foreign country with no phone direction, no hostel name, and no clue where he is.Trying to wave down taxis in the dark, he finally hops into a car he assumes is a cab, only to realise after more than an hour of driving around the city that the bloke behind the wheel is not a taxi driver at all. Just a local on his way to work who decided to help a blind drunk Australian stranger get home. The story somehow gets better with every turn, covering weed cafes, tour groups, sex shows, language barriers, hostel roulette, and one of the nicest random acts of kindness you'll ever hear in a yarn that sounds completely made up but somehow isn't.If you love travel disaster stories, Amsterdam nightlife yarns, Aussie humour, or proper true stories that spiral out of control, this episode is an absolute belter.Unplanned. Unfiltered. Unforgettable.A proper true yarn told exactly how it happened.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Professor Tim Evans of Middlesex University wonders what the Gorton and Denton by-election could portend for British politics. Could it be another signpost to the end of traditional two-party politics? Is something going wrong for the established political class? Might it signal the end of Starmer's Premiership? Tim cites both a study into NHS maternity services and a statement from a former health minister that doubling the NHS budget over 20 years has made no difference to the nation's health as evidence of the truth of Gammon's Law about the growth of bureaucracy displacing useful work. Lastly, he and Simon discuss the loss of a mutual friend, Simon Richards, former chief executive of the Freedom Association. Dubbed "the nicest man in British politics", he wore his politics lightly but had an amazing talent for bringing people together. In an age where politicians are so earnest and serious, we need more people like Simon. He, and his infectious laugh, will be much missed. Learn more about your ad choices. Today is screen legend Dick Van Dyke’s 100th birthday! On the show today, our first caller has installed a large, horizontal, natural gas fireplace, replacing a wood-burning firebox. The area directly above the fireplace gets extremely hot, up to 230 degrees, is that excessive? The next caller had to change out her kitchen stove, but the hardwiring was an issue; she’s wondering if she can use a standard power hookup with her replacement unit. When Julia Stalder heard the words ductal carcinoma in situ, she was told she had the “best kind of breast cancer.” Which is like saying you got hit by the nicest bus. Julia's a lawyer turned mediator who now runs DCIS Understood, a new nonprofit born out of her own diagnosis. Instead of panicking and letting the system chew her up, she asked questions the industry would rather avoid. Why do women lose breasts for conditions that may never become invasive? Why is prostate cancer allowed patience while breast cancer gets the knife? We talked about doctors' fear of uncertainty, the epidemic of overtreatment, and what happens when you build a movement while still in the waiting room. Funny, fierce, unfiltered—this one sticks.RELATED LINKS• DCIS Understood• Stalder Mediation• Julia's story in CURE Today• PreludeDx DCISionRT feature• Julia on LinkedInFEEDBACKLike this episode? Most chiropractors don't sabotage people with bad adjustments. They sabotage them with kindness.“Let's just see how you go.”It sounds supportive. It feels patient-centred.But it quietly sets people up to fail.In the first episode of a podcast series, The Care Plan Paradox, Martin breaks down why this gentle phrase creates:– false expectations– early dropout– misaligned timelines– and exactly the kind of stop–start care nobody wantsYou'll learn why people naturally underestimate their problem, why “feeling a bit better” tricks them into stopping too soon, and why clarity beats kindness every single time.If you've ever struggled with people disappearing once the pain drops to a “2 out of 10,” this episode will change how you think about care plans, and how you talk to people about their recovery.Check out the Retention Recipe https://insideoutpractices.thinkific.com/courses/retention-recipe-2-0To learn more about Reactivate to Accelerate https://insideoutpractices.thinkific.com/courses/reactivateLearn more about Daily Visit Communication 2.0https://insideoutpractices.thinkific.com/courses/daily-visitEmail me - martin@insideoutpractices.com

Let us tell you about this super nice kid, Johnny! He is the NICEST, SWEETEST and most THOUGHTFUL kid we know! He always is there to lend us a helping hand! The one time, Mike and Serial came to visit J3RMZ and Johnny was there to help with his bags! We don't know where he came from still but.... Oh, and that one time Ash was doing her laundry and out of nowhere, Johnny showed up to help her fold her clothes! How sweet? I wonder if Ash ever found her glow in the dark Art the Clown panties that went missing that day... The Paperboy came out in 1994 and is it just us, or is there some form of renaissance when it comes to this movie? Many people have talked about this one and we may see why. This Canadian horror flick is rumored to pack a hefty size golf club to your dad's cranium so hey, count us in!Thanks for listening, beautiful listeners.Socials:Mike and Serial: IG/Twitter- Mikeandserialx AshXAshes: IG- AshxAshes91 Twitter- AshXAshesJ3RMZ: IG- Main.Event.J3RM Twitter- J3rmzGotJokesRFTD: IG/Twitter: RiseFromDeadPod

This week, Matt and Britt travelled to Huntington to celebrate WV Day weekend. They stopped at Camden Corner for donuts, but this cozy convenience store has plenty of other delicious food to try, featuring a full deli and hot bar. Nicest people, most adorable donut box ever. Located 3002 Piedmont Rd, Huntington, WV. Open Mon-Fri 6:30 AM-9:00 PM, Sat-Sun 7:00 AM-9:00 PM. Here's what we tried:Donuts: Strawberry jam and cream "hotdog", chocolate glazed buttercream filled, glazed, glazed cream filled, apple filled, lemon filled. Cream horn was eaten prior to recording...Then, Kelsey covers the story of a woman in Anchorage, Alaska who had stolen an sd card from the console of a vehicle while on a supposed date. Years later, it would be used as evidence in the trial of Brian Steven Smith, who was on trial and recently sentenced for multiple murders. The card was filled with horrid photos and video of Smith and his victims. This episode is graphic in detail, discretion advised. Also, Matt lacks his usual zhuzh. He missed his opportunities to zhuzh when it mattered and he blew it. He makes up for it by covering other things to do in Huntington, including driving around to find the locations used in the 60's movie that was filmed there - Teen-age Strangler!

What happens when the person you trust most turns out to be a stranger behind closed doors? Many of us go into marriage believing we've found a godly partner, only to discover deception, manipulation, and an unraveling reality we never saw coming. In this powerful episode of Relationship Truth Unfiltered, Julie Sedenko sits down with Isla, a woman whose marriage began with hidden debts, constant lies, and a suffocating sense of tension. After years of heartache, separation, and a journey toward personal transformation, she and her husband now walk a different path—one built on truth, respect, and a deeper understanding of God's role in their lives. If you've ever felt trapped in a relationship where words don't match actions, where confusion and self-doubt creep in, this episode will encourage and empower you with the wisdom, faith, and tools to step into truth. Key Takeaways 1. The Slow Realization of Deception Isla's story began with excitement and hope—she believed she had chosen wisely. But from her wedding night onward, subtle red flags began to emerge: small acts of indifference, shifting moods, and later, outright lies. She learned that deception doesn't always come with blatant betrayal; sometimes, it's the quiet erosion of trust, the feeling that something is always just slightly off. If you feel unsettled in your relationship but can't pinpoint why, it's worth paying attention. 2. The Power of Denial and Overcompensating For years, Isla compensated for her husband's irresponsibility, picking up the slack and trying harder to make things work. She assumed his agreement with her concerns meant he would change, but true transformation requires action, not just words. Recognizing the difference between passive compliance and real accountability was key in her healing journey. 3. The Breaking Point: When You Can't Walk Through the Door Sitting in her car, unable to enter her own home, Isla hit a moment of undeniable truth—her marriage was crushing her spirit. It wasn't until she stepped back, created boundaries, and sought wisdom that she began to reclaim her life. Sometimes, rock bottom is the birthplace of transformation. 4. Healing Through Faith, Boundaries, and Community Isla's faith played a crucial role in her journey. She turned to Proverbs for wisdom, joined Conquer, and found a community of women who understood her struggle. Through this, she discovered that mutual, safe, and reciprocal relationships are God's design—not a life of walking on eggshells. Healing required her to hold the relationship loosely, allowing her husband to take responsibility for his own growth. 5. Rebuilding with Wisdom and Caution After three years of separation, her husband had to prove his change—not with words, but with actions. Weekly accountability groups, personal counseling, and a renewed commitment to truth paved the way for reconciliation. Their marriage today looks nothing like before—marked by independent wholeness, clear financial separation, and intentional rebuilding. It's not about returning to the old marriage; it's about creating something new. A Personal Invitation If Isla's story resonates with you, you don't have to navigate this alone. Conquer is a transformative support community designed for women facing destructive relationships. You'll find biblical wisdom, practical tools, and the support of women who truly understand. You are precious in His sight, and you deserve a life built on truth, respect, and mutual love. Don't be afraid to take the next right step—one step at a time, one boundary at a time. You are not alone, and with God's guidance, healing and clarity are possible.
The Nicest Debate I Have Ever Heard. Michael Shermer of Skeptic Interviews/Debates Dr. Stephen Meyer. The Return of The God Hypothesis. Stephen Meyer—Return of God Hypothesis: 3 Scientific Discoveries Reveal the Mind Behind the Universe Beginning in the late 19th century, many intellectuals began to insist that scientific knowledge conflicts with traditional theistic belief — that science and belief in God are “at war.” Philosopher of science Stephen Meyer challenges this view by examining three scientific discoveries with decidedly theistic implications. Building on the case for the intelligent design of life that he developed in Signature in the Cell and Darwin's Doubt, Meyer claims that discoveries in cosmology and physics coupled with those in biology help to establish the identity of the designing intelligence behind life and the universe. Previously Meyer refrained from attempting to answer questions about “who” might have designed life. Now he provides an evidence-based answer to perhaps the ultimate mystery of the universe. Shermer responds to each claim and a stimulating and enlightening conversation ensues.
