State Rep. Fred Shanks & my regular co-host Shaun Yurtkuran join the show today as we discuss a new bill Fred is getting ready to introduce that would force elected officials to temporarily step down (with pay) if they've been charged with a felony in conjunction with the use of their office. This is in response to Hinds County D.A Jody Owens being the alleged ring leader in a massive corruption and bribery scandal with Jackson mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba and multiple city council members, lobbyist and more. We also discussed school choice and more.
Join us on today's episode we delve into the murky waters of Jackson, Mississippi's political landscape, where the "Hinds County Goon Squad" - comprising Mayor Chokwe Lumumba, Hinds County D.A. Jody Owens, and City Council President Aaron Banks - find themselves embroiled in a scandal that reads like a plot from a political noir. Charged with a staggering 15 felonies related to the convention center hotel development project, this story has all the ingredients for a blockbuster political drama. We're thrilled to have Angela Buckner, Senior Editor at the Mic Magazine, joining us. Angela, a black Democrat female journalist known for her incisive commentary, will share her insights on how this scandal reflects broader issues within local governance, the implications for Jackson's political future, and the community's response. Hosting this potentially explosive conversation is none other than our very own loud-mouthed, white conservative, Trump-supporting radio host, [Your Name], who promises to bring his unfiltered opinions to the table. Together, they'll explore whether there's any common ground to be found amidst the political divide, or if the only thing they agree on is the need for some stronger coffee. Expect a robust discussion on: The details of the bribery charges and the convention center project. The political fallout and what it means for Jackson's administration. The role of race, party politics, and ethics in local government. The impact of such scandals on community trust in public officials. And, just maybe, a moment where both sides might find themselves nodding in agreement. Tune in for a conversation that might not save democracy, but could at least shed some light on why these three officials now wish they had taken up knitting instead. Will they find common ground, or will this be another episode of political ping-pong? Grab your popcorn and join the discussion!
Chokwe Lumumba, Jody Owens & Aaron Banks have all been indicted, Shaun Yurtkuran joins me to break it down like only we can.
We open up the show with a sad story about me running over a black cat on hey 49 on the way to the radio station this morning, this some how led to us discussing old TV Land style television shows for the first 20 minutes of the show. We then pivoted to discussing the Menendez Brothers potentially getting released from prison after new evidence suggest that they were sexually abused by their father and that is what led them to killing their parents back in 1989. They have been in prison for 34 years!! We ended up discussing term limits in Mississippi after I mentioned that I voted for Jennifer Branning for supreme court justice and one of the main reasons why is it's time to retire some of these old, lifelong politicians like Jim Kitchens. We have a major update on the potential indictments dropping on Chokwe Antar Lumumba, Jody Owens & Aaron Banks over the convention center hotel drama. We closed out the show discussing Kamala Harris's disaster of a town hall on CNN
1- Stokes tells Chokwe, Jody Owens & Aaron Banks to resign and plead guilty so the city can begin to heal 2- Carly Greggs attorney Bridget Todd has made herself look mentally unstable with all of these podcast and interviews she's been doing 3- Donald Trump is set to appear on Joe Rogan's podcast this Friday, Shaun and I breakdown what we expect to see happen and how Trump will come out of it looking.
Shaun Yurtkuran joins me on the Clay Edwards Show to discuss the most recent guilty plea in the federal corruption case over a real estate deal for a new convention center hotel in Jackson, Mississippi. So far one city councilwoman and the business partner of Hinds County D.A. Jody Owens have plead guilty and all signs point to Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba, Hinds D.A. Jody Owens and current Jackson city council president Aaron Banks all being the co-conspirators listed in the previously mentioned felons indictments. We'll discuss if we could actually see any of them end up in prison and what the long-term ramifications could mean for the city of Jackson
1- I give out multiple FAFO grand championships to kick off the show this morning 2- More information has been uncovered by wlbt on the FBI investigation into the federal investigation the stems from the raid of D.A. Jody Owens offices and the arrest and prosecution of Jackson city councilwoman Angelique Lee this week. 3- Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba is heading to Puerto Rico for a Mayors conference on "ethics, transparency & compliance" (no really, this isn't a joke and we have video proof) 4- Internet rumors are suggesting the New York is preparing Rikers Island prison for Donald Trump to be sentenced for one year, I discuss why these idiots don't need to do that
More information has been uncovered by wlbt on the FBI investigation into the federal investigation the stems from the raid of D.A. Jody Owens offices and the arrest and prosecution of Jackson city councilwoman Angelique Lee this week.
I'm gonna keep this short and sweet, Shaun Yurtkuran and myself have been on this story since the second Hinds County D.A. Jody Owens office got raided and we've been right every step of the way. I was personally elated and vindicated yesterday when Jackson City Council VP Angelique Lee stepped down then immediately pled guilty to federal conspiracy to commit bribery charges in federal court yesterday. Today's show unpacks the whole story from the day of the first raid all the way through Lee's demise yesterday. The biggest question remains unanswered though, who's next and when will we find out?
1- We pay our respects to the fallen Mississippi police officer who was killed in the line of duty yesterday by another Democrat thug down in Summit, Mississippi. This leads to talking about a facebook post the killer made after killing the officer and before the police killed him, which leads to me explaining I 100% think he deserves to die and I hope he burns in hell!! Then we read some of my instagram comments about it exposing Jackson thugs being more concerned with the dead murderer than the innocent cops who were killed and shot!! 2- Jackson thugs are damned and determined to turn Jackson into a playable character in the next Grand Theft Auto video game series (GTA JXN), they turned North Jackson into a shooting gallery yesterday at 5pm in the middle of 5pm traffic rush as they shot up a Dodge Challenger (killing the driver) but not before he ramped his car over concrete barricade and onto interstate 55! 3- A Jackson area attorney Daniel Dale was arrested bringing contraband into the Hinds County Detention center in Raymond yesterday, the led to one of the best or worst mugshots in the history of mugshots being taken and going nuclear viral!! 4- Hinds County D.A. Jody Owens claims that he has been paying out of pocket to have grand jury's meet at the Westin hotel in downtown Jackson because the Hinds County courthouse is in complete disrepair
Jody Owens joins us from Johnson University to preach through the 9th commandment, and teach us what the Bible says when it discusses bearing a false testimony against a neighbor.
1- Shaun sat through day #1 of the Jordan Cummins double murder trial (St. Paddy's Day Murder suspect). We take a look at the evidence and discuss how we think it plays out. 2- Chris Barrett with Gays Against Groomers joins us for the rest of hour #1 to talk about the need for people to understand that there are in fact really good people involved with the LGBTQ community that are in fact our actual allies in the fight against groomers that want to indoctrinate our kids. 3- Will the Mississippi GOP attempt to remove and replace the confederate statues the state placed in the U.S. Capitol over 100 years ago? A reporter from the Mississippi Today spoke with Rep. Fred Shanks (House District 60, Brandon Mississippi) about this topic. We breakdown what he said and the likelihood of this happening or not. 4- The feds have loaded up 6 sealed federal indictments to the chaser system in Hinds County, we speculate that these could be the indictments we've been waiting to drop on Hinds County D.A. Jody Owens, Jackson, Ms. Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba and multiple city council members. We then try to decide who amongst the rumored group to be indicted would be most likely to flip on their co-defendants?

1. Hour one was us talking about the Hunter Biden trial and playing it fwd to the point of if he's found guilty and it gets appealed and overturned because of the 2nd amendment being absolute. How do conservatives feel about Hunter Biden being the reason we get our gun rights protected? 2. Huge news broke via WLBT last night concerning the FBI investigation into the Hinds County D.A. Jody Owens, Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba, City Council members Aaron Banks & Angelique Lee. We discuss it and speculate what could be coming up next.

-In the wake of a jaw-dropping FBI raid on Hinds County D.A Jody Owens' office and a downtown Jackson bar, whispers of an alleged corruption scandal involving Owens, the mayor, and numerous city council members have Jacksonians on the edge of their seats, wondering, "What's next for the city?" Steering clear of the juicy details, we pose a question to our listeners: should the state intervene and take legal control of Jackson as far as the constitution allows? Enter mayoral candidate Corinthian Sanders with a call that left our audience begging for more! All this and more in the first 20 minutes of our show, folks! Tune in for the rollercoaster ride of Jackson politics! -Friday in Jackson, Mississippi, a shocking incident unfolded as two black teens, displaying an astonishing level of audacity, were caught on camera brazenly targeting a white family in their driveway. The disturbing footage shows the teens firing at the family before making off with their vehicle. The grandmother and one son were outside the car, while her other son, daughter, and two grandchildren were inside. This brazen act has left the community reeling and sparked a wave of concern about safety and the future of these young individuals. -I get a text on the Guns-N-Gear text lines from a detractor that say's "black Jackson voters look at anyone I back as a red flag", this begins a rant about exactly what's wrong with Jackson voters and perfectly explains why the city keeps electing complete idiots to run the biggest city in the state. It's because they put their blackness above everything, and nothing else matters as long as the candidate continues the narrative that all of black peoples problems are because of white peoples alleged racism. -In a twist of irony, a detractor's text to Guns-N-Gear sparks a fiery rant on the pitfalls of Jackson voters' priorities. The message? "Black Jackson voters see anyone I support as a red flag." This candid remark unravels the city's electoral conundrum, shedding light on why Jackson keeps electing "complete idiots" to govern its largest metropolis. The crux of the issue? A relentless allegiance to racial identity, overshadowing all other critical considerations. The result? A perpetual cycle of leaders who perpetuate the narrative of white racism as the root of all black struggles. A bitter pill to swallow, indeed! -In a surprising twist, a former detractor (Ryan) dials in to share his perspective on Jackson's challenges, sparking a candid dialogue that transcends the city's boundaries to probe racial dynamics in the surrounding counties and within the black community. The conversation reaches a crescendo when Ryan confesses that he once considered me a racist until he started tuning in to my show. I playfully remind him of an old DM where he labeled me a racist and express my pride in his transformation since he began calling into the show last year, ultimately embracing the mantra that "facts aren't racist, realism isn't racism!" This unexpected call stands as one of the most enlightening and engaging moments in the show's history. Oh, and did I mention Ryan is a black man and former Democrat residing in Jackson, fed up with being told not to trust his own observations? A must-listen for any truth-seeker out there! -A riveting report from Jackson Jambalaya's Kingfish has Councilman Ashby Foote spilling the beans on a peculiar rendezvous at the Capitol Club in downtown Jackson. The clandestine meeting, orchestrated by Hinds County D.A Jody Owens, involved Foote and a duo of investors/developers, all convened to deliberate the enigmatic topic of "how to get business done in Jackson." The councilman found it quite odd for a county D.A to delve into the realm of economic development, especially when the agenda included talks of a potential convention center hotel and parking garage. Talk about blurring the lines between legal and financial realms!

Former Hinds County Asst. D.A. Shaun Yurtkuran joins me to discuss the FBI raiding Hinds County D.A. Jody Owens office and businesses in Jackson yesterday, they also went to the mayors office on 2 different occasions. Rumors are running wild that there will be multiple arrest in the coming days, weeks & months of Jackson & Hinds County politicians including multiple city council members, the Hinds County D.A. & the mayor of Jackson himself, Chokwe Anta Lumumba (allegedly).

Former Jackson Police Department top cop & Clinton P.D. Detective Anthony Fox's manslaughter verdict has been overturned and there will NOT be a new trial. Anthony is a free man despite the Hinds County D.A. (Jody Owens), Jackson, Mississippi mayor (Chokwe Antar Lumumba) as well as the entire corrupt "Free The Land" industrial complex being against him. I also breakdown the double homicide that happened in Brandon, Ms. Tuesday morning. It's now been confirmed as a drive-by shooting and is the third homicide in the last 3 days in Brandon.
Jody Owens is the Director, Wintrode Student Success Center & Coordinator for University Academic Advising at South Dakota State. Ep #550 Of The Clay Edwards Show W/ Therese Apel On 103.9 WYAB (07/11/23) 1. Former Jackson Police Officer Anthony Fox got a HUGE victory on his appeal when the state A.G. released a recommendation that his guilty verdict should be reversed and thrown out because there was never any evidence that suggest he was guilty. This is a massive victory for him and a huge and frankly, an embarrassing defeat for Hinds County D.A. Jody Owens, his staff and the Mayor of Jackson, Mississippi (Chokwe Antar Lumumba) 2. Speaking of embarrassing defeats and the mayor of Jackson, Chokwe Antar Lumumba was pimp slapped by federal court judge Henry Wingate over the Jackson water situation. He was told to basically sit down and shut up and that he would not have any say so over which contractors were selected to fix Jackson's water infrastructure. Dr. Jody Owens from Johnson University visits New Hope to kick off our Summer in the Psalms series. Dr. Owens shares that the theme of the book of Psalms is "Blessed" - how to live a blessed life. He dives into the first chapter of Psalms to help explain what it means to walk in righteousness despite the way of the many. This Week:This week, Ryan and Brian sit down again with Dr. Jody Owens. Ryan and Brian both attended a week-long learning retreat with Jody where he taught about 1 & 2 Samuel. It was a great retreat with lots to think about, so during their time there they sat down with Dr. Owens to discuss some of the interesting connections and symbolism in the books. They talk about both the Ark of the Covenant as a character in the story and how there might be a much deeper meaning to the story of David and Goliath.Links:Support Ryan and Brian's Bible BistroPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/thebiblebistroFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/thebiblebistroInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebiblebistro/Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/3H7qRmgSpotify: https://spoti.fi/3I7Gw6AWebsite: https://www.thebiblebistro.comRyan and Brian's Bible Bistro is a podcast all about the Bible, theology, and all things related to the Christian faith.

Lot's of calls about Jackson crime 4. The Napolean "Polo" Edwards murder trial has been pushed back to August because the Hinds County D.A. is dropping the ball and not getting the defense all of the evidence it needs to move fwd with the trial. Ep #322 Of The Clay Edwards Show On 103.9 WYAB 1. Former Jackson, Mississippi police officer (current Clinton Police Officer) Anthony Fox was found guilty of culpable negligence manslaughter in a clown court ran by Judge Wooten. This was nothing more than a social justice human sacrifice to the God's of WOKEISM, orchestrated by George Soros funded Hinds County D.A. Jody Owens and the Chokwe Antar Lumumba administration. 2. I go to war with some callers that take offense to suggesting that Jackson politicians love their criminal base more than they do law abiding citizens. Between them prosecuting good police officers for murders they did not commit to suing the state of Mississippi to eliminate high speed pursuits..... The facts are not up for debate!! 3. A caller tries to make the argument that Rankin and Madison county have more sex offenders / criminals than JXN. It was a great call because he made my point about the criminal justice systems in Rankin and Madison county Vs. JXN and Hinds county for me. Those counties actually arrest and PROSECUTE their criminals The Clay Edwards Show Podcast is brought to you by my own personal business, "Auto Armour By Clay Edwards". Ep #318 Of The Clay Edwards Show On 103.9 WYAB 1. Jackson homicides are on a record breaking pace again this year, we're currently sitting at 84 this year (86 same day in history last year). There have been 12 homicides in the last 11 days in Jackson. 2. 911 is not responding to calls in the Capitol City Improvement District (CCID) and blaming it on the Capitol Police, even giving 911 callers another number to call if they answer the phone at all. They both have jurisdiction in the CCID so this is nothing more than a political game being played by Jackson Mayor, Chokwe Antar Lumumba and JPD Chief James Davis to skirt the blame or responsibility. 3. Angry Normies: I read a text from a concerned black citizen in Jackson & a facebook / nextdoor post from a fondren resident (I assume a white liberal). Both of which are fed up with this current administration & city council in Jackson. 4. Local businessman & very successful restaurant owner Jeff E. Good pens a very concerning facebook post calling out the mayor & city leaders over the lack of transparency concerning the city of Jackson's water woes, the misinformation on boil water notices & honestly just not telling people how bad the situation at the treatment plant really is. 5. Therese Apel W/ Www.DarkhorsePressNow.Com calls in from the Hinds County Courthouse with an update on the Anthony Fox trial, Fox is the former JPD officer being charged with murder as part of a woke political witch by Hinds County D.A. Jody Owens & the Lumumba administration. 6. The Biden administration is finishing TRUMPS Border wall but they won't admit to it, I play a hilariously sad interaction with white house Spox Jean Pierre-Paul & Fox News Peter Ducy 7.
