Josh Levs, host of the 'They Stand Corrected' podcast, penned an op/ed for the AJC bemoaning what presidential debates have become as well as their worthlessness anymore to the American voter. Thought I'd take a spin through his piece and offer some thoughts. On the second anniversary of the Trump-packed Supreme Court overturning 'Roe v Wade' with the 'Dobbs' decision, Georgia WIN List executive director Melita Easters joined me to catch me up on where reproductive rights stands locally and nationally, both legally and from a "on the voters' radar" perspective. Finally, Trump's White House doc, Dr. Ronny Jackson, now in Congress, has a lot of ideas as to how the Biden House (he presumes) may be "propping up" the President. I mean, he rattled off so many tactics and pills, you'd think he had some experience at it.
As for "truth," Josh says "truth = facts + context." Without knowing facts, we can't heal our relationships. We have to start off with what's solid and learnable. You want to learn all the facts. So before arguing about politics or international stuff or whatever, we need to first establish facts! And we are losing our direct relationship to facts. He is breaking it all down and talking his podcast, "They Stand Corrected"
Dr. Wendy is offering her Wendy wisdom with her driveby makeshift relationship advice. We are also talking to Josh Levs about knowing facts and healing our relationships! It's all on KFIAM-640!
As we enter an even worse era of misinformation and “alternative facts,” we desperately need news media to be trustworthy sources of truth. But all too often, news organizations report what liars -- and even terrorists -- say without telling you what's true. They give these folks “open mics.” They fail to fact check. Who holds the media to account? Now, there's a podcast for that. Welcome to They Stand Corrected, from award-winning journalist Josh Levs. He spent 20 years in the media, first at NPR and then at CNN, where he became lead on air fact checker. He also wrote a book busting myths about modern families, to rave reviews, and has spoken everywhere from the U.N. to Congress, Oxford, Google and more. Now, from outside bureaucratic media, he sees more clearly than ever what prevents the media from providing the whole truth.

This is especially true of millennial parents and parents who started a new job during COVID. What do companies need to do? Author and parental leave advocate, Josh Levs, joins the show to discuss how we got here, what parents really need for a less stressful working experience, and how rebuilding parental leave policies and culture is good for business.LINKS:Josh's websiteDad factsJosh's BookJosh on TwitterJosh on InstagramJosh on LinkedInFOLLOW US:InstagramLinkedInTwitterFacebookYouTubeWorkhuman Content Newsletter

The crisis of care that exploded during the pandemic has put a bright light on the double burden carried by working moms. But what about Dads? Eager to be involved, and much needed by their kids and their partners, fathers ironically face the same systemic biases that hurt women - the presumption that men’s lives belong to the organization, and women’s to the family. Fortunately, Josh Levs is working to change all that, and joins Laura to help us better understand the cultural and structural changes that are needed to help everyone thrive, together. Want more? In 2013, after the birth of his daughter, Josh Levs believed his employer had an unfair parental leave policy for fathers like him. So, he filed a charge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against his employer, Time Warner, CNN’s parent company, arguing against the existing policy. At the time, Josh worked as a CNN journalist, broadcaster, and fact checker. His legal action succeeded, forcing the company to change its paid parental leave policy while creating change outside the company, too. Seeing men as caregivers, Josh says, is ultimately a women’s rights issue: “Women will never have equal opportunities in the workplace until men can be treated as equal caregivers.” Today, Josh is a diversity and inclusion consultant and author of the book, All In: How Our Work-First Culture Fails Dads, Families, and Businesses – and How We Can Fix It. The U.N. named him a Global Gender Champion, and The Financial Times named him one of the top 10 male feminists. Josh joins us to share his story as a father and “dadvocate.” He explains how both men and women must work to break toxic stereotypes about fathers and caregiving, and why changing laws, policies, and stigmas are the only way we’ll create gender equality. Listen to this episode to learn: -Why backward thinking about gender is the reason why the United States doesn’t have a national paid family leave policy (the only industrialized nation in the world not to) -The misconceptions about fathers that we’ve been told and sold (dads are not lazy!), why we still believe in them, and how to bust antiquated myths about gender roles -Actions business leaders can take to create dad-friendly work cultures where men no longer fear punishment, retribution, or shame for putting their family first -How the gender wage gap holds us all back, culturally and economically, and perpetuates slanted views on gender -Why normalizing images of men as caregivers in the media and in advertising can help shift our mindset -Ideas for creating change from within your company – and at the state and federal level – and advocate for gender-neutral paid family leave For more information, visit https://joshlevs.com

Joining me today is advocate, author and TedX speaker, Josh Levs. Josh is a former CNN and NPR journalist, and the leading global expert on modern fathers in the workplace. After the release of his book, Levs became the leading voice for modern dads at work, shining a light on their unknown struggles. I invited Josh on the show today to share his story, dispel some of the myths that give dads a bad rap, and shed some light on how we can work together with our spouses, employers and co-workers. During our conversation we talk about stereotypes like: ● Moms do more work around the house than Dads ● Moms carry more mental load than Dads ● Dads having more leisure time ● Dads get to do the fun stuff, while Mom’s do more household chores He offers strategies to improve work-life balance for BOTH women and men, and we discuss the impact that COVID-19 has had on family dynamics. When "Chief Everything Correspondent" Josh Levs keynoted Dad 2.014, he had just launched an EEOC complaint challenging Time Warner's parental leave policy and announced his deal for All In, a compendium of several years of research into fatherhood. Six years later, he's still putting facts first, writing and speaking and teaching companies how to make workplaces more family-friendly. Moms and dads are working (and stressing out) equally, and we need to alleviate these pressures in part by acknowledging dads' struggles and reforming the corporate structures that perpetuate them.
Today on the Dads with Daughters Podcast we speak Josh Levs, an entrepreneur, former CNN and NPR journalist, and the leading global expert on modern fathers in the workplace. Josh Levs is also the author of the award-winning book All In: How Our Work-First Culture Fails Dads, Families, and Businesses–And How We Can Fix It Together. The United Nations named him a Global Champion of Gender Equality. (Watch his opening remarks at the U.N.) The Financial Times named him one of the world’s top 10 male feminists. A New York Times front-page story declared him “a pioneer.” He has testified in Congress, won a debate on feminism at Oxford, and is a leading business consultant and keynote speaker. Levs spent 20 years reporting for NPR and CNN, where he developed unique expertise on nonpartisan fact checking. On TV, he has been called “Truth Seeker in Chief,” “Mr. Reality,” and “Senior Everything Correspondent.” He also created a role covering modern families and developed unprecedented expertise in assessing the realities of today’s dads. Levs then stepped into a global spotlight by taking legal action against Time Warner (CNN’s parent company) for fair parental leave so he could care for his preemie daughter and sick wife. The company ultimately embraced his call, revolutionizing its policy to make it better for moms and dads. With the publication of his book, All In, Levs became the leading voice for modern dads at work, shining a light on their unknown struggles. here are many stories we tell that hold men back from living their best lives. Here are a few that create barriers for men to reach out when they are distressed (Solomon): “No sissy stuff” — in other words, if it is what women do, then it’s not for “real men.” “Be a big wheel” — you are what you do for a living; achievement and your paycheck define your worth. “Sturdy oak” — you are the one people lean on for help; you don’t lean on others. “Give ‘em hell” — when all else fails, come out swinging; better to intimidate than to look weak. In this episode, I speak with the internationally acclaimed “fact checking” journalist Josh Levs who has been busting myths about fatherhood for years. We examine the faulty scripts, how they contribute to the suffering of families, and we challenge listeners to adopt a new mindset on developing an “All In Life.” Josh Levs B&W.png About Josh Levs Josh Levs is a dad to three children. Josh Levs is an author, entrepreneur, and expert on fathers in the workplace. For 20 years, Josh wrote for NPR and CNN. He is a six-time Peabody award-winner and two-time Edward R. Murrow award-winner. At the time of the birth of his third child he sued his employer, CNN/Time Warner, to obtain a paternity leave for biological fathers that matched the company’s leaves for mothers and adoptive parents. This experience led him to write All in: How Our Work-First Culture Fails Dads, Families, and Businesses – And How We Can Fix It Together. In this episode, Stew and Josh discuss paternity leave and the outmoded policies and biases that prevent fathers from providing care. Josh recommends sweeping changes in both government and the private sector to support families by extending paternity leave. He describes the personal struggle he had supporting his third child and the progressive changes his employer, CNN/Time Warner, eventually made to support fathers. Other companies throughout America are making this leap. They support families by allowing fathers to be the caregivers. Read a transcript of the interview here. Father's Day is fast approaching, and on today's HearSay we'll consider the intersection of parental and workplace responsibilities of today's dads. We're joined today by investigative journalist, Josh Levs, for a look at how much parenting has changed over the past three decades -- and how little provisions for paid paternity leave have.
Today's guest knows this very well. His name is Josh Levs. He is the perfect guest to help us celebrate fatherhood. He is the author of the brand new book, "All In: How Our Work Culture Fails Dad's, Families, and Businesses and How We Can Fix It Together." Did you know that half of all working dads would rather stay at home if their spouses made enough money to live on? And just like moms, dads struggle with work life balance and doing it all. Now, in addition to being an author, Josh is an award-winning broadcast journalist who often writes and speaks about modern fatherhood, and spent almost a decade reporting for CNN - on air and online - and serving as the network's "truth-seeker in chief". Prior to CNN he worked as a reporter for NPR.
