LOVED talking to Nona Brown about her recent Trip. SHe has such a wise view of life and So much talent The smooth and unconventional sound of San Francisco Bay Area native Nona Brown is “a breath of fresh air” according to her fans. From the sweet and silky sound of her voice to her piano playing, songwriting and producing, the Nona Brown impression is sure to be lasting. Nona recorded her first CD in 1997 entitled, I'll Sing My Song. In 2019, after writing music for years, she emerged with her sophomore release, Songs from my Journal Volume 1, ranking #14 and #21 on Billboard Gospel chart in weeks one and two! Nona's gospel music roots led to many wonderful collaboration opportunities such as working with Josh Groban as choir coordinator for his Northern California tour, guest vocalist and composer on three national recordings of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, guest vocalist at Oprah Winfrey's Legends Ball and group member of gospel music legend, the late Edwin Hawkins and the New Edwin Hawkins Singers. With the success of Songs from my Journal Volume 1, Nona is excited to share Songs from my Journal Volume 2, scheduled for release on August 22nd. The project features some of the Bay Area's finest vocalists and musicians performing songs written by Nona. Nona's music career includes some amazing accomplishments – arranger and background vocalist on the 2022 GRAMMY Award winning Best Children's Album by Falu A Colorful World and 2022 Telly Award Winner for her “Black Lives Matter” music video co-written with Tony Saunders. As an active member of the music community, Nona previously served as San Francisco Chapter Board Governor, Vice President, and Black Music Collective (BMC) Ambassador before becoming the first black woman to be elected President of the San Francisco Chapter of the Recording Academy. Nona Brown is a name to remember and a life to be inspired by.

One of the recording sessions was with Galt MacDermot, who wrote the music for Hair. And the rest is history. According to Melba, her ex-husband assisted her in making business connections, allowing her to collaborate with leading musicians and songwriters, like Gene McFadden and John Whitehead. Ignite 2 Impact Podcast - Raise up and Inspire the Next Generation of Leaders
Feeling mentally and physically drained or uninspired especially when times are tough? Dr. Geneva talks with Dr. Portia Lockett to find answers and tips on how to inspire yourself, find happiness and help others in spite of difficulties. This conversation will inspire YOU to create extraordinary impact in your business, in your everyday personal life, and in the community. Everyone has a purpose, but not everyone knows their purpose early in life. At the age of seven, Dr.Portia Lockett was clear on her calling: teaching and encouraging others, which later evolved into her being a school teacher that inspired students to be their best regardless of their path. Eventually, she transitioned into speaking and training for major corporations and nonprofits which included but not limited to UAW GM, Chrysler, GoodwillI Industries, State of Michigan Mental Health Conferences, and 3rd District Drug Court, later becoming a licensed and ordained Chaplain that allowed her to support and encourage individuals from the womb to the tomb. Eventually being led into the world of being a missionary allowed her to travel and support the underserved in Japan, Barbados, Mexico, Bahamas, Canada, Kenya, and Jamaica. National Geographic selected her and her family to be a part of the TV series World’s Apart where they lived an authentic lifestyle with a Peruvian family in the Andes. Like most of us, Dr. Portia has experienced a few traumatic episodes in her life, but through the grace, the favor of God, and self-determination, she pulled herself up and kept it moving forward each time. From surviving a divorce from her childhood sweetheart, diagnosed with sarcoidosis, a cancerous cell in her uterus while pregnant, foreclosure, bankruptcy, her car being reposed, and being unemployed just to name a few. Lockett has received several awards and her most recent includes the City of Detroit Spirit Award, Michigan Chronicle"s Women of Excellence, and the Career Mastered Winning Spirit Award. Lockett is the co-author of Anointed Moments Meditational CD and Amazon's # 1 seller Delayed But NotDenied 2, and featured lyric writer and psalmist of Happy Birthday Jesus. She’s been featured on CNN, National Geographic, BET, The Michigan Chronicle, The Detroit News, and Radio One. One of her most memorable moments other than giving birth to her three amazing sons was spending time talking with Dorothy Height, Maya Angelou, and Michelle Obama while being the guest of our beloved Natalie Cole at Oprah’s Legends Ball.

REVISIT: Colin Cowie is a top designer for all things weddings—as well as galas, charitable events, corporate and destination celebrations. He's beloved by the likes of Oprah, Jerry Seinfeld, Elton John, Michael Jordan, Bruce Willis, Jennifer Aniston, and countless other A-list celebrities. Ever since Colin arrived in Los Angeles from Kitzwe, Zambia at the height of apartheid in 1985, his professional life has soared. While teaching cooking lessons at age 23, he met a woman whose chance encounter soon led to his first wedding assignment for a local bachelor: Hugh Hefner. Thirty-one years of parties, weddings, and multi-day events later, he’s never created the same event twice. The degree to which Colin cares for and personalizes his work is not just unmatched, it's nearly indescribable, and precisely why he’s consistently relied upon by the most discerning of clientele. He learns everything there is to know about his clients, over hors-d'oeuvres and champagne, until the event he crafts (and the journey on which he takes his clients to get there) is not just perfectly tailored, but permanently unique. When he isn't designing weddings and Fortune 500 parties, Oprah Winfrey’s Legends Ball or Guinness Book of World Records-breaking pyrotechnic shows abroad, Colin works as "creator-director" for elite brands like NetJets, Dom Pérignon, and Bergdorf Goodman; even private islands. Idyllic as Colin’s life may sound, and so often is, he and Andy extend their conversation today beyond the exclusive glamour of the luxury events industry to the unseen challenges once faced in the midst of the great recession, Colin's daily routines (from meditation and "I am" statements to nightcaps), professional strategies, and the critical value of humility and gratitude. He learns everything there is to know about his clients, over hors d'oeuvres and champagne, until the event he crafts (and the journey on which he takes his clients to get there) is not just perfectly tailored, but permanently unique. Recapping the 2010 Legends Ball With Symba Rios.
It's been a weekend of highs (Sarah finally met a certain future husband) and lows (the wedding has not yet taken place), and after 3 full days at BravoCon, she is ready to mention it all! So Sarah invites over her Bravo bestie and fellow BravoCon attendee, and someone who knows a thing or two about mentioning it all, Dylan Hafer (content manager, pop culture at Betches Media, host of the pod Mention It All, and creator of @BravoByBetches). They discuss panel MVPs, the sometimes-fraught audience Q&As, viral BH panel chaos (LOL), WWHL's Legends Ball, and overall roses and thorns. BravoCon may be over, but Sarah's heart (and iPhone storage) are filled with love, love, love - it's Andy's Girls, Episode 353!JOIN/LEVEL UP TO THE ANDY'S GIRLS PATREON, AND ENJOY BONUS EPS, INVITES TO SPECIAL ZOOM EVENTS, AND MORE: https://www.patreon.com/AndysGirlsFollow Sarah on social: https://www.instagram.com/damegalli/Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
