Dunamis Charge is an advertiser.Devin: What is your superpower?Natalie: I truly believe, Devin, that my superpower is faith. In today's episode of Superpowers for Good, I had the pleasure of speaking with Natalie King, the dynamic Founder and CEO of Dunamis Charge. Natalie's passion and commitment to electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure are truly inspiring, and her insights highlight the importance of equitable access to EV charging stations.Natalie emphasized the “chicken and the egg” scenario that has hindered the widespread adoption of EVs. While EV adoption rates have not met initial expectations, she pointed out that this is largely due to insufficient EV infrastructure. This gap presents a unique opportunity for Dunamis Charge to step in and make a significant impact. As she put it, “You do have real range anxiety for EV drivers and for those interested in purchasing an EV but won't because the EV infrastructure is not there.”Dunamis Charge is not just another player in the EV market; it is a trailblazer focused on serving underserved communities. Natalie passionately described how Dunamis Charge is leveraging billions of dollars in federal investment to create reliable and accessible EV charging stations. By setting up a manufacturing plant in Detroit, Dunamis Charge is not only addressing the infrastructure gap but also creating jobs and supporting local communities. “We are uniquely positioned to take advantage of all of the billions of dollars being invested right now in this EV infrastructure industry and to make it well and to make it right here in America and to employ workers from America to build it,” Natalie shared. Moreover, Natalie's commitment to environmental justice is evident in her approach. Dunamis Charge's “Communities in Charge” program partners with faith-based and nonprofit organizations to educate and engage communities about the benefits of EVs. This initiative ensures that the transition to EVs is inclusive and beneficial for all. As Natalie eloquently put it, “We want to be that bridge to those communities because we already work in those communities, we hire from those communities, and we believe that we can bring the EV deployment as an opportunity.”In essence, Dunamis Charge is not only solving the current EV infrastructure challenges but also paving the way for a more inclusive and sustainable future. Natalie King's visionary leadership and dedication to equitable access make her a true changemaker in the EV industry. I am excited to see how Dunamis Charge will continue to transform the landscape of EV infrastructure and make electric vehicles a reality for everyone.Dunamis Charge is conducting a regulated investment crowdfunding offering on Rise Up Crowdfunding.tl;dr:1. Guest Introduction and Topic Overview: Devin introduces Natalie King, the CEO of Dunamis Charge, emphasizing her role in the electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure industry in Detroit. They discuss the growing demand and the issues around EV adoption and charging infrastructure.2. Challenges in EV Adoption: Natalie explains the "chicken and egg" issue with EV adoption and charging infrastructure. Despite investments, the anticipated growth rate for EV adoption has not been met, causing some to pull back on infrastructure investments. However, she sees this as an opportunity for Dunamis Charge to address range anxiety and ensure reliable EV infrastructure.3. Focus on Equity and Inclusion: Dunamis Charge aims to bring EV infrastructure to underserved and underrepresented communities. Leveraging initiatives like the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Natalie speaks about promoting environmental justice and ensuring all communities benefit from EV infrastructure.4. Community Engagement and Education: Natalie discusses the "Communities in Charge" program, which partners with organizations to bring EV education and charging solutions to faith-based and nonprofit groups. This initiative includes educating communities about the benefits of EV adoption and providing information on incentives and economic opportunities.5. Company Growth and Future Plans: Natalie highlights Dunamis Charge's progress, including a forecast for significant revenue growth and ongoing efforts to expand their EV charging solutions across various states. The discussion also covers the company's crowdfunding campaign on Rise Up Crowdfunding to enable broader community investment and support for their mission. How to Develop Faith As a SuperpowerNatalie King's superpower is her unwavering faith. This faith has guided her through numerous challenges in the clean energy technology space, particularly as a minority woman in a field with few peers. Her faith propels her to persevere, innovate, and give back to the community, even when the path ahead is unclear.Natalie shared a compelling story about her struggle to secure capital for Dunamis Charge. Despite numerous banks praising her business concept and her vision, they repeatedly turned her down due to various reasons. This recurring disappointment was challenging, but her faith kept her determined. Natalie believes that resources follow passion and vision, which eventually helped her overcome these financial hurdles.Tips for Developing the Superpower:* Persevere Through Challenges: Keep moving forward even when the path is unclear and obstacles arise.* Maintain a Vision: Have a clear vision of your goals and believe in them, even if others do not immediately see the potential.* Seek Support: Connect with people and organizations that believe in your mission and can offer support.* Prepare in Advance: Secure resources before you need them to avoid last-minute challenges.* Trust the Process: Have faith that if you are doing what you are meant to do, everything will eventually work out.By following Natalie's example and advice, you can make faith a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileNatalie King  (she/her):Founder and CEO, Dunamis ChargeAbout Dunamis Charge: To make high-quality, affordable EV charging solutions accessible everywhere.Dunamis Charge takes great pride in empowering individuals and enhancing their mobility, with a strong emphasis on energy cost savings for our customers across various sectors. Women of Substance with Dr. Scarlett Horton⁣ Episode 54 - Dr. Scarlett Horton interviews Frances Maclin __________⁣ Frances Levonia Maclin, before her employment at Motown, worked for the largest black-owned newspaper in Detroit known at that time as The Michigan Chronicle. She worked in the classified section and obtained the first ad (from the then well-known Woolworth Department Store) to be placed in a black newspaper. When she was an employee at Motown Records, she was affectionately known by her coworkers as Fran Heard Maclin. She worked for Motown Records for twenty-five years. During her time on staff, she was the tape librarian, later promoted to library director, where she had the oversight of thousands of recording tapes that were recorded at The Hitsville Studio, Golden World Studios, and The Motown Studio in Hollywood. Frances had the awesome privilege of being a part of almost every hit that was produced at the three studios. She was the first one to handle a session reel after it came from the control room. Her job was to catalog and store the session reels and to dispense them back and forth to the engineer and producer until such time the songs were ready to be mixed and, finally, if selected, to be released. During her years in the tape library, many songs that passed through there went on to become number one hits in the marketplace—so many that it would take several pages to name them all. However, “My Girl” by The Temptations and “I Hear a Symphony” by The Supremes were two of her favorites that she cared for from infancy to maturity. Frances considered the tape library to be the bread and butter of the company. She shares her memories of her time with Motown in two books: "I Remember Motown: When We Were Just Family" and "Motown from the Other Side." Upon retiring from Motown in 1986, Frances joined her husband, Charles, in full-time ministry at Word of Life in Birmingham, AL. Frances served as bookstore manager there for thirteen years before joining her husband in the outreach department. In this episode, Frances shares her journey of working for this historical company in its infancy, including the spiritual side of the people involved. Scarlett and Frances also talk about her own conversion, and how God led her and her husband into the ministry of helps. Your faith will be inspired as you watch. __________ https://ScarlettHorton.com __________

“Opportunities come with opposition and the greater the opportunity the greater you're gonna have the opposition.” Pastor Solomon Kinloch Jr.  Denise talks to Pastor Solomon Kinloch Jr., lead pastor at Triumph Church in Detroit since 1998. Raised by strong and courageous parents who modeled perseverance, as a child his mother challenged him to find the word “quit” in a dictionary. When he reported that he couldn't find it in any dictionary in their home she revealed that it was because she had removed it from them all!   It's no wonder Pastor Kinloch is most proud of his own wife and son, calling them the jewels in his crown. His family is a source of strength, along with the time he spends following Jesus' mandate to pray. Listening to and reading the testimonies of others also gives him the confidence to encounter whatever comes his way. He loves the story of Job in the Bible, who faced extreme adversity but was refined as “pure gold” by his trials, which God never uses to defeat us but rather to develop us and make us better.   His life is marked by sincere devotion to helping others and allowing people to help him, something he saw time and again in his neighborhood church as a boy. The platform of minister is designed to uplift an entire community not just individuals. Triumph Church's ministries reflect his philosophy of partnering with people to make a difference in a very public way to ensure people can see the impact of their giving. He believes in spiritual and social responsibility.   To get involved visit Triumph Church's website https://www.triumphch.org/give.   Need help? Contact the church at 313-386-8044 or OFFICEOFTHEPASTOR@TRIUMPHCHURCH.ORG.  ***  A minister since the age of fourteen, Pastor Solomon Kinloch Jr. serves as the lead pastor at Triumph Church in Detroit since 1998. Under his leadership, Triumph Church blossomed into a multi-site phenomenon, with eight campuses hosting fourteen weekly services for more than 35,000 members. Pastor Kinloch currently serves on the Board of Directors for various civic and community organizations including the Skillman Foundation. He has been recognized as one of “The New Generation of Black Leaders” by the Detroit News and “Contemporary Pioneer” by the Michigan Chronicle. He was inducted into the Martin Luther King, Jr. College of Ministers and Laity at the MLK Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College in Atlanta. In recognition of his work in the community and ministry outreach, Pastor Kinloch was named a 2018 Michiganian of the Year recipient by The Detroit News. He lives in Detroit with his wife Robin and son Kadin Elijiah.  Denise Ilitch, an owner of Ilitch Family Companies and President of Ilitch Enterprises, has been a part of Detroit's business and philanthropic community for over 40 years.  As a mother, lawyer, entrepreneur, devoted community servant and tireless advocate for women and children, she learned early, from her father, that everyone is worthy of contributing to the world.  Her passion for affordable, accessible, quality education stems from her own experience as a first-generation student, earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, where she currently serves on the Board of Regents.   FOLLOW DENISE @thedeniseilitchshow   TO LEARN MORE about all our inspiring podcasts visit https://www.lifestough.com/.

Feeling mentally and physically drained or uninspired especially when times are tough?  Dr. Geneva talks with Dr. Portia Lockett to find answers and tips on how to inspire yourself, find happiness and help others in spite of difficulties. This conversation will inspire YOU to create extraordinary impact in your business, in your everyday personal life, and in the community. Everyone has a purpose, but not everyone knows their purpose early in life. At the age of seven, Dr.Portia Lockett was clear on her calling: teaching and encouraging others, which later evolved into her being a school teacher that inspired students to be their best regardless of their path. Eventually, she transitioned into speaking and training for major corporations and nonprofits which included but not limited to UAW GM, Chrysler, GoodwillI Industries, State of Michigan Mental Health Conferences, and 3rd District Drug Court, later becoming a licensed and ordained Chaplain that allowed her to support and encourage individuals from the womb to the tomb. Eventually being led into the world of being a missionary allowed her to travel and support the underserved in Japan, Barbados, Mexico, Bahamas, Canada, Kenya, and Jamaica. National Geographic selected her and her family to be a part of the TV series World’s Apart where they lived an authentic lifestyle with a Peruvian family in the Andes. Like most of us, Dr. Portia has experienced a few traumatic episodes in her life, but through the grace, the favor of God, and self-determination, she pulled herself up and kept it moving forward each time. From surviving a divorce from her childhood sweetheart, diagnosed with sarcoidosis, a cancerous cell in her uterus while pregnant, foreclosure, bankruptcy, her car being reposed, and being unemployed just to name a few. Lockett has received several awards and her most recent includes the City of Detroit Spirit Award, Michigan Chronicle"s Women of Excellence, and the Career Mastered Winning Spirit Award. Lockett is the co-author of Anointed Moments Meditational CD and Amazon's # 1 seller Delayed But NotDenied 2, and featured lyric writer and psalmist of Happy Birthday Jesus. She’s been featured on CNN, National Geographic, BET, The Michigan Chronicle, The Detroit News, and Radio One. One of her most memorable moments other than giving birth to her three amazing sons was spending time talking with Dorothy Height, Maya Angelou, and Michelle Obama while being the guest of our beloved Natalie Cole at Oprah’s Legends Ball.

Verde is committed to strategically using our reach and the reach of our clients to welcome a more diverse participant base into the incredible outdoor community!  Today’s guest on the Channel Mastery podcast is Aaron Foley, who was named Director of the Black Media Initiative at the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism in June of 2020. The collective goal in his new role is to increase the potential for community media. This is defined as Black media, Latino media, Indigenous media, Asian media, and media that is geared towards immigrant communities. It can also include Jewish media, Muslim media, Catholic media, etc. Ensuring Black media outlets are more sustainable is also a top initiative in his role.  Prior to this position, Aaron was a Fellow at the John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships at Stanford University, where he served as one of 19 professionals selected for a 10-month residency at Stanford assigned to research and innovate solutions in Journalism. Aaron and his cohort worked on topics like: revenue streams from public entities to fund independent newsrooms; curbing spread of misinformation and disinformation among Black news consumers.  He’s also been a journalist, of course. He served as Chief Storyteller for the City of Detroit, a position that was a Mayoral appointment, a first for a city government in the U.S. And was Editor In Chief for BLAC Detroit Magazine. Aaron comes from a family that is deeply rooted in journalism, as his mother was a reporter, editor and photographer for the Michigan Chronicle, which is considered one of the oldest Black newspapers in the country. Through his work in his new role, he wants to ensure Black media outlets are more sustainable. He offers ways for brands and businesses to successfully reach broader audiences and also sheds light on how our specialty businesses can support black media outlets and enable more people of color to feel part of our outdoor communities through media.  Kristin is joined by a co-host today, one of her esteemed Verde Brand Communications colleagues, Alice Baker!  Alice has been a part of the Verde team for about three years and crushes it day in and day out leading her clients at the agency. Alice has stepped up to lead Verde’s commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Verde’s agency-wide goal is to strategically deploy its reach, and the reach of its clients, to enable more people of color to feel welcome in the outdoors. Once a month going forward, the Channel Mastery podcast will be dedicated to that commitment. Alice will be co-hosting these special episodes.  Without further ado, here’s the Aaron Foley interview on the Channel Mastery podcast! Let’s do this!      Aaron Foley is a journalist from Detroit who has had an extensive freelance career and was the city of Detroit’s first chief storyteller from 2017 to 2019. Before joining the Newmark J-School’s Center for Community Media (CCM) in June 2020 as the Black Media Initiative Director, he was a John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University. He is the author of How to Live in Detroit Without Being a Jackass (2015) and has an impressive public speaking record, including a Ted Talk. Foley describes himself as “a product of Black media.” His mother was an editor at the Michigan Chronicle, one of the oldest and last remaining Black newspapers in the country.

Promoting Confident, Heroic,  Inspiring, Courageous moms. (CHICmomorg.com)  Jessica Byrd, mother of two found her passion as a career mom by starting an organization to interact with young mothers to provide them with the tools, necessities, and environment to better raise their children. Jessica firmly believes in not only engaging our children with a positive social environment, but also providing a network of positive enforcement for young parents - which in result will promote a better society. CHICmom Org's sole purpose is to implement - Confident, Heroic, Inspiring, Courageous mothers.  When Jessica became a new mommy she was bombarded with tons of decisions to make, as most moms; should I work, should I do daycare, should I breastfeed, the list goes on. Despite having a very strong support group in her family, she noticed that amongst her peers, motherhood was like a secret society. A society of mothers who appeared to have it all figured out, but the reality was we all need help, and more importantly we all need each other. Jessica noticed that mothers lacked a sense of community and she wanted to solve that problem. What started as a post on Facebook, asking mothers to join her "moms club" has now grown to over sixty mothers in a member oriented organization named CHICmom.   As a career mom, Jessica has always given her personal and career growth just as much attention as she's given being a mommy and wife.  Her previous roles in event management, project management, and public relations has allowed her to rise in the ranks in her career path. Starting as a public relations consultant in Atlanta, GA, and returning to her hometown to then land a positive at The Michigan Chronicle, she’s never given up on her strong aspirations in following her career path in marketing and communications with the desire to start a mentoring coaching business for college students. Currently Jessica utilizes her communications, event management, and marketing expertise to serve as the Community Relations Specialist for UnitedHealthcare Community Plan.  Jessica has a niche for community engagement, with a personal goal to living a life on purpose and assisting everyone around her to do the same.  As a mother of a three and four-year old, life can be very demanding, but she admits to finding strength in CHICmom and strongly believes it was her God-given purpose. Additionally, she knows first hand that being a mother doesn't stop you from growing, in fact you discover a new sense of self discovery.
