Jack Elderton and Cal Goodall break down Aston Villa 1-1 West Ham in the Premier League at Villa Park, a game where injuries stopped Graham Potter and Unai Emery from picking their strongest sides. Jack and Cal discuss all this, as well as West Ham's competitive spirit returning, Lucas Paqueta's role as a 9 leading the line, the improvement defensively under Potter compared to Julen Lopetegui, the important of adaptability, players strengths being emphasised, the effect Tyrone Mings' injury had on the game and much more. On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Newcastle fan Simon Bibby and West Ham fan Chris Stone to discuss the latest at their clubs and the FPL assets within them ahead of Monday's meeting at St James's Park. Will either Correspondent give James reason not to buy Alexander Isak? And he's not the only Newcastle asset under consideration, with Lewis Hall likely to be popular for those in search of an enabling defender and there's a warning not to forget about Anthony Gordon and Joelinton's positioning could soon make him an interesting prospect. Jarrod Bowen for Bryan Mbeumo in GW14 is a move James earmarked in pre-season, but is there any faith in The Hammers who sit in 14th currently and with the pressure mounting on Julen Lopetegui. Mohammed Kudus also return in GW14, there's discussion too on what's happening with Lucas Paqueta and will 4.0 keeper Lukasz Fabianski retain his place in goal for the weeks ahead? Julen Lopetegui was confirmed as West Ham's new manager just hours before the FA announced Lucas Paqueta has been hit with six charges - four relating to suspicious betting and two for non-compliance with an investigation. It capped a mad end to yet another rollercoaster campaign for the Hammers as legend David Moyes waved goodbye after spearheading the club's most successful period in decades. And to cap of the season, Will Pugh is joined by three top journalists and friends of the podcast: Tom Rennie from TalkSPORT International and Sirius XM plus Hammers correspondents Jacob Steinberg (The Guardian) and Jack Rosser (The Sun). The guys talk all things Moyes, Lopetegui, Tim Steidten, Paqueta, David Sullivan, summer transfer plans, hopes and fears for next season and beyond, and of course how many more decades Michail Antonio will play up front for the Irons. It's a truly brilliant episode with some razor sharp insight from proper professionals with contacts at every level of the club. As always, thanks for listening!
That's more like it, isn't it!? After weeks of talk surrounding David Moyes' negative style of play, which had stopped getting results, West Ham turned up at London Stadium on Monday night and put on a bit of a show. It wasn't perfect, not by any stretch, but we scored four goals and overall looked like we wanted to have a go at playing football for the first time in 2024. Every time we got the ball we looked like we wanted to make something happen, while out of possession we pressed well and put Brentford under pressure. That's the approach we've been crying out for! It was a much-needed victory and it puts us back in contention for a top-eight finish and potentially a fourth consecutive European qualification. If we play like we did against Brentford for the remainder of the season, we've got a huge chance of achieving what we were hoping for in the first-half of the campaign. Obviously, it appears that will likely rest on the fitness of Lucas Paqueta, who makes things tick in this team. It's no surprise we've failed to win a single game this season in which he hasn't featured. This week, we discuss the overall performance on Monday night, react to comments from listeners on the socials and then look ahead to the trip to Everton on Sunday. Also, we mentioned in the podcast that we both completed the London Winter Run 10k in support of Cancer Research last weekend. V or Speculative Swiss-mania I & II), but also receive the privilege of submitting prompts for these Qs & Clues EPs... patreon.com/ParaPowerMapping Speaking of, #1 coming in hot w/ a far-reaching investigation into sports fixing allegations historical & current, with a particular focus on the global game & its intimate relationship w/ international relations, Western imperialism, & military regimes. We begin w/ the Independent Cork Board Researchers Union Soccer Precepts, which bring us to a discussion of Maradona's "symbolic revenge" over the Brits w/ his infamous "Hand of God" handball goal in World Cup '86, which takes us 4 years further back to the possible Thatcherite-&-Argentine-military-junta false flag known as the Falklands War... To clear the field & set the stage, we unpack some basic history of Operation Condor & the American-backed intel agency collabs b/w military dictatorships in S. America in the '70s & '80s, which led to the extrajudicial death flights & disappearances of likely 100ks of Marxists, leftists, & union members in countries like Argentina (see: Dirty War)... We show how the US State Dep't & See-Aye-Eh were arms-deep in Argentine political life in the years immediately preceding Falklands. We survey a ton of the weirdness re: the Falklands War, including Julian Barnes' assertion it was the "worst reported" war of the televised era, which supports a false flag or preordained war of mutual benefit hypothesis... Marge Thatcher's press embargoes, conferences, & censorship. The strangely civil "Red Cross box"/ neutral zone in the sea off the Falkland Islands where UK & Argentina kept medical ships stationed simultaneously throughout the 70ish or so days. We talk Prince Andrew doing heli flights & the weirdness of the conflict being bookended w/ "flags", which, is a little on the nose... Talking to you, Universe. From there, we break down Bo BrozZzy's incisive Mafiaball & "sports as mass ritual" prompt and the Henry Hill, Burke, Perla Bros. & Rick Kuhn references therein, as well as super timely professional club soccer scandal examples that are reminiscent of Kuhn's point shaving scheme (see the illegal betting breach allegations that have recently broken re: Sandro Tonali, Nicolo Fagioli—who was threatened w/ having his legs broken evidently, and Lucas Paqueta)... We discuss Declan Hill's The Fix & Gabriel Kuhn's Soccer vs. the State. We walk through the history of gambling, sports & otherwise, in England, from Queen Lizzie's Loco Lotto to the National Lotto's 2nd biggest donor, the Freemasonic United Lodge of England. This turns our attention to Voltaire & Casanova's Freemasonic Lotto Syndicates in France in the 18th century. And we conclude w/ a discussion of the distinct possibility that Sec. of State & national security tulpa Henry Kissinger—one of the architects of the bloody anticommunist conspiracy to bind together the intel services of Southern Cone countries & "disappear" leftists... anyways, we end w/ an examination of a couple articles & US Embassy & State Dep't memos that indicate that Sec. of Sports Fixing Kissinger may have been directly-or-indirectly involved in fixing the 1978 World Cup held in Argentina, when Gen. Videla & his Peruvian counterpart pressured the Peruvian nat'l team to deliberately lose to Argentina & the accompanying Satanic numerology of the game's scoreline—as well as a bevy of further 6s in accompanying stats. Oh, and we fit in a few references to Zion*st involvement in Operation Condor, the
