We keep digging into the PSA Beckett fallout, but the conversation shifts into the stuff collectors actually feel day to day: what “monopoly” even means, why PSA's registry and resale values drive behavior, and how grading inconsistency has become the hobby's accepted tax. We also get into cracking, resubmitting, phantom pops, and the Wilt Chamberlain PSA 10 to PSA 9 situation, including the uncomfortable questions around the guarantee and what we may never learn publicly. In this episode: Monopoly vs market leader: the definition debate and why it matters Fanatics licensing vs PSA dominance: which “monopoly” argument is stronger PSA criticism without the fake outrage: pricing and wait times vs the real issue (inconsistency) The registry effect: why uniform slabs still shape collector behavior Cracking and resubmitting: how big is it really, and where it's concentrated Phantom pops and why pop reports can't be treated like gospel Wilt Chamberlain downgrade: guarantee limits, compensation questions, and NDA speculation PSA standards drift: did they change, or did collectors change first Hobby Spectrum update: The Spectrum Directory is becoming a discoverability tool, not just a results page Add your social and hobby links so people can find you across platforms New sorting and filtering makes it easier to browse by archetype, score, and join date Retakes will be limited to once every 30 days, with score history saved to your profile Keep up with Sports Cards Live: Catch the Saturday night live show on YouTube and join the chat, your questions are always in play Subscribe so you don't miss breaking hobby news, emergency streams, and guest-heavy episodes Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and wherever you get your podcasts If you're enjoying these five-part drops, leave a rating and a quick review, it helps more collectors find the show Learn more about your ad choices. Many educators support the idea of allowing students to retake exams or redo submitted assignments. However, there are significant complexities and challenges involved when teachers have large and multiple classes. In this discussion, we explore the educational value of retakes, stressing the importance of structured learning processes over mere grade chasing. The consensus was that retakes when managed well, can greatly aid student learning but require clear policies to ensure they do not overwhelm teachers. ECU now sits atop the league standings at 14-4, ahead of UTSA - which dropped a series at Rice and is now 12-6. The Pirates also defeated NC State in the midweek to sweep the season series. ECU has won eight in a row overall and is 35-8 on the campaign. The Pirates operated the 4-0 week without the availability of two of their top arms in Zach Root and Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman. Trey Yesavage threw 6.2 no-hit innings on Friday night in the win at Memphis to continue his stellar season. On June 1st, we're updating the Rookie of the Year races! In the National League, a James Outman (LAD) May slump has Corbin Carroll (ARI) back in the driver's seat, while catcher Francisco Alvarez (NYM) and SP Kodai Senga (NYM) are trying to pull a Michael Harris & Spencer Strider from 2022. In the American League, Matasaka Yoshida (BOS) is now the front runner, narrowly ahead of RHP Hunter Brown (HOU), 3B Josh Jung (TEX), and OF Esteury Ruiz (OAK). Plus, there's a LOT of pitchers in the back end of the AL odds and Lindsay has a theory about it. Finally, we look at guys that have decent odds despite not having debuted yet: Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Elly De La Cruz, of the Cincinnati Reds.Join the NEW Locked On MLB Prospects Discord: https://discord.gg/36s3eRXGUQFind and follow LockedOn MLB Prospects on your favorite podcast platforms:Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/locked-on-mlb-prospects/id1525225214Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2wzJIf26tGgVbB7rsoKyLDStitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/show/locked-on-mlb-prospectsFollow along with LockedOn MLB Prospects host Lindsay Crosby as we follow 120+ affiliated teams throughout the 2023 season!
