Welcome to the Always Bayern Chelsea show. The 102nd episode of the show sees Danny breaking down Bayern Munich's heartbreaking loss in the FIFA Club World Cup to Paris Saint-Germain. The match was devastating for so many reasons, some bigger than football. Subscribe to the Always Bayern Chelsea YouTube channel for full coverage of the remainder of the CWC and all of the summer transfer news going forward. Bayern Munich lost a hard fought match to the best team in the world PSG by a final score of 2-0 to get eliminated from the FIFA CWC. Bayern & PSG truly put on one of the best matches of football we've seen in recent memory, two giants of the game going toe to toe at the highest of levels. All of this was unfortunately overshadowed by Jamal Musiala's gruesome injury from a reckless challenge by Paris keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The match was truly bizarre & fate was against the Bavarians. We saw multiple injuries to Bayern players, two offside goals, and a disallowed penalty. Danny breaks down the entire match from Vincent Kompany's lineup/tactics, to match highlights/lowlights, to scoring/injuries/cards, and individual player performances. Bayern's press was giving PSG all sorts of fits as the match began but no goals ended up sticking. Globally known as one of the poorest referees in the world. Anthony Taylor called no foul as Donnarumma snapped Musiala's ankle altering the trajectory of the game and Bayern Munich's entire upcoming season. PSG lost control of the match towards the end, earning two red cards for dangerous challenges involving studs to Leon Goretzka's leg and an elbow to Guerreiro's head. Josip Stanisic also suffered a hamstring injury and had to be subbed out. Before all was said and done Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele scored incredible goals and a handball in the box by PSG was awarded before Taylor inexplicably took it away. Bayern Munich is eliminated from the tournament. Chelsea's fortunates look great as they have a simple path to the CWC final. They beat Palmeiras 2-1 yesterday. Stay tuned for more soon on all of that! Subscribe to the YouTube channel to stay updated! Drop us a comment with your thoughts! Thanks for listening/watching. Hello Rank Squad! It's that time of the year where amidst all the trophies being handed out, thoughts turn to who are the frontrunners in the race for the biggest individual prize in the game - France Football's yearly Ballon d'Or. Last year the award came with a whole thunderstorm of controversy, with Real Madrid boycotting the ceremony after Rodri won the top prize over Vinicius Jr. They probably don't need to worry that much this year - we'd be surprised if there were any Los Blancos stars anywhere near the podium - but the absence of both Vini and Rodri from the frontrunners opens up some interesting discussions. We dive deep on where we think the current positionings are for the likes of PSG's Ousmane Dembele, Gigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi, as well as Barcelona's Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Pedri - as well as the individual pace-setters like Mo Salah, Lautaro Martinez, Kylian Mbappé, and Harry Kane; before we also take a quick look at the Kopa Trophy candidates in Part Three. Before that, there's a return for Things We Love, where Dean discusses a big summer ahead for Arsenal in the transfer market, and Jack takes a quick look at a wonderful season at Balaidos for Celta Vigo, under the stewardship of Claudio Giraldez. It's Ranks! Paris Saint-Germain supporters will walk a little taller and a little prouder the rest of the month following the club's incredible performance against Arsenal FC at the Parc des Princes. On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Marc Damon and Greyson Lee to break down PSG's 2-1 win over Arsenal on Wednesday night. The 3-1 aggregate win puts PSG in the Champions League final, where they will face Inter Milan in Munich on May 31.Up first, we discuss Luis Enrique's decision to start Bradley Barcola over Ousmane Dembélé, who is still recovering from a muscle injury. We examine Barcola's performance and highlight Dembélé's contributions late in the match.Next, we talk about the early onslaught from Arsenal and how Gianluigi Donnarumma made save after save to keep PSG in the match. We discuss Donnarumma's Champions League performances and his incredible saves against the Gunners.Fabian Ruiz scored for PSG in the first half, and we discuss how vital he is to the squad. From Manuel Ugarte to Idrissa Gueye, PSG has looked for a midfielder like Ruiz for years, and finally, they have a dependable, consistent player who can show up when the lights are brightest. In the second half, PSG was awarded a penalty after Achraf Hakimi's shot hit Myles Lewis-Skelly in the hand. We discuss whether the right decision was made and potential theories as to why Vitinha's penalty was so poor.We wrap up the show with a discussion about Marquinhos, his performance tonight, and his future. We also give our final thoughts on what the win and appearance in the Champions League means for us as fans.As always, thank you for listening. Hello Rank Squad! We have our Champions League finalists, after PSG joined Inter in the showpiece event by beating Arsenal 2-1 at the Parc des Princes to progress 3-1 on aggregate. The game might not have had the verve and sparkle of Tuesday's semi, but there was plenty to discuss all the same here on UCL Takeaway. Arsenal started fast, but couldn't find the killer blow to leave the tie in the balance - thanks to some particularly impressive goalkeeping once again from Gigi Donnarumma in the PSG net - and then Fabian Ruiz landed a killer jab of his own, striking home from the edge of the box after Arsenal failed to clear a set piece. Vitinha missed a (very harsh) penalty, before Achraf Hakimi made it 2-0 with a striker's finish, and whilst Bukayo Saka pulled one back and Arsenal had their chances to find a leveller, it was Luis Enrique's charges who saw the game out, with no finishing flourish from his former apprentice Mikel Arteta in the other dugout. We discuss the game, as well as where it leaves Arsenal ahead of this summer, whether PSG's transformation into the team we have seen in recent months makes them favourites for the final, whether João Neves is a N'Golo Kante regen, where Arsenal need to upgrade to reach that next level, and loads more besides. It's Ranks! On this episode, Patrick and Hayden discuss the UEFA Champions League Semifinals. Lamine Yamal was incredible, but Inter Milan feel confident they can defeat Barcelona after a 3-3 draw. PSG kept Arsenal scoreless for a 1-0 win, but were Arsenal better than you might think? To close the episode the guys talk Darwin Nunez. Morning Footy: A daily soccer podcast from CBS Sports Golazo Network
PSG's early goal in the 4' of the Leg 1 semifinal against Arsenal was enough to not only change the atmosphere on the road, but enough to walk away with the victory. They'll take that advantage home to the Parc des Princes. Donnarumma's performance between the sticks for PSG was crucial, however, the goal scorer Ousmane Dembélé picked up a knock and is now questionable for Leg 2. rsenal suffered a frustrating 1-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semifinal first leg, leaving our European dreams hanging by a thread after a performance brimming with missed opportunities and contentious moments. Despite the setback, the narrow margin ensures everything remains possible in next week's decider in Paris. PSG struck early, silencing the Emirates crowd just four minutes as Ousmane Dembélé capitalized on a slick counterattack. The visitors dominated the opening half-hour, with Donnarumma rarely tested while David Raya denied PSG a second goal with a stunning save on Désiré Doué. Arsenal grew into the game before halftime, nearly equalizing from Gabriel Martinelli's attempt. Arsenal thought they'd leveled early in the second half when Mikel Merino powered home a Declan Rice free kick, but VAR ruled the goal out for offside. Donnarumma then stole the show, tipping a Leandro Trossard drive wide and smothering a late Lewis-Skelly effort. PSG squandered chances to extend their lead, with Bradley Barcola and Gonçalo Ramos and Joao Neves wasting gilt-edged opportunities, but Arsenal's attacking struggles persisted as their final-third precision deserted them. Declan Rice battled tirelessly in midfield, orchestrating transitions and delivering dangerous set pieces, while Lewis-Skelly's fearless dribbling and vision offered glimmers of promise. Saliba anchored the backline admirably, limiting PSG's threats after the early goal, but the lack of cutting edge up front proved costly. While the result stings, Arsenal's European campaign has been defined by resilience-remember Bayern and Real Madrid. A single goal separates them from a final in Munich, and with away triumphs already etched into this season's lore, the tie remains alive. There is more live in this team to turn it around. This is Arsenal: down but not out. The comeback starts now. C'mon Arsenal!

Hello Rank Squad! In a bit of a break from tradition, and after witnessing an absorbing encounter between Liverpool and PSG at Anfield, we decided this week might be a good one to switch things up and discuss the thing everyone will be discussing come Wednesday morning - the action from the Champions League, so this is the first of two UCL Takeaway episodes that will be with you this week. We start on Merseyside, where football reminded us it's a funny old game. Liverpool were outmatched in Paris last Wednesday, but came away with a 1-0 win against PSG; but on a night where they gave a far better account of themselves at home, they ended up losing the game 1-0 and being knocked out on penalties. Work that one out. We give PSG their due for a mighty performance over two legs, and discuss just how far this very talented side could go in this competition, as well as looking at what Liverpool might have done differently, and where the squad might need to be strengthened to push forwards again next season. Then in Part Two, we move over to the rest of the action, dissecting Barcelona's 3-1 win over Benfica where Lamine Yamal and Raphinha set some more records, as well as Pedri's astounding performance in the heart of midfield. We touch on Bayern, who Dean correctly backed in our power ranking episode, and how Leverkusen melted in the heat of the knockout stages; and finish with Inter, who made light work of Feyenoord even with a heavily rotated squad, and who are ticking along nicely in this competition. It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?
