Marybeth Tinning murdered each of her children in cold blood. The motive was that she enjoyed the sympathy and attention she received when her children brought to the hospital. The causes of death for Tinning's first eight children was initially thought to be genetic. Even when her sixth child, Michael – who was adopted and not of blood relation – died in 1981, authorities failed to open an investigation.

It started with Jennifer, the third child of Marybeth and Joe, joining siblings Barbara and Joe Jr in December of 1971. Little Jennifer was not a healthy child and died from meningitis on January 3, 1972. This news hit Marybeth and Joe hard, especially Mary, who had just lost her father in October. Perhaps the stress ignited a slow-burning fire into a firestorm, or maybe it was always inside and had not yet appeared until now. Whatever the reason, there would be a trail of death with one person responsible for them all. Yet time and time again, the person was left to do it again and again. THE FINALE IS HERE. And it's AD-FREE! That's right, Part 5 and the conclusion of The Marybeth Tinning Saga. The episode is a bit longer than usual, but Kendra was ready to be DONE thinking about this real piece of work that only excelled at one thing in life: popping out kids, but that's about it. The ending includes the death of their adopted son, Michael. The shocking (or not so shocking) impregnation of Marybeth with her 8th bio baby, Tami Lynne and the surprising (again, not so surprising) subsequent passing of Tami Lynne. However, this last death was finally the breaking point and Marybeth is arrested, convicted, and sentenced to prison. And Kendra is excited to move on to a different case next week!! In June of 2015, 48-year-old Dee Dee Blanchard was murdered in cold blood. Her murderer snuck into her bedroom at night and stabbed her in her sleep... seventeen times. A brutal crime. But, based on how Dee Dee had treated her daughter Gypsy Rose, was her murder justified? For twenty-three-year-old Gypsy's entire life, her mom had been telling others she was sick. And convincing doctors and other medical professionals she was sick. And she wasn't. Nevertheless, she was paraded around in a wheelchair because she supposedly couldn't walk, and her head was shaven because she was supposed to have cancer, and on and on. Gypsy Rose was a victim of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, a rare mental disorder where a caregiver convinces someone that they are sick when they're not, and convinces others they are sick, often for financial benefit. Always for attention and control. Gypsy Rose was less of a daughter and more of a hostage, someone who'd been medically tortured for over decades. Can we really blame her for talking someone into murdering her oppressor so she could live free? Marybeth Tinning was a mother of nine....and considered to be an early case example of fictitious disease...but perhaps after you hear the way all nine of her children mysteriously pass away, you might ask yourselves did she suffer from fictitious disease (also known as Munchhausen by proxy) or was it simply madness? Mixers & Minis Ep. 9: Marybeth Tinning Join us as we discuss the horrific murders committed by Marybeth Tinning. On December 20, 1985, Marybeth Tinning rushed into a Schenectady, NY hospital with the lifeless body of 4 month old Tami Lyn in her arms. Doctors determined her death had been caused by Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, but family members and friends were tired of keeping their suspicions of Marybeth silent. An investigation would begin that would bring many disturbing realizations to the surface. **This episode is brought to you by BK Creations, LLC**

--------- Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/crimeandcomedy Youtube: https://youtu.be/PTpkEO4DrNI Tutti i Podcast: https://link.chtbl.com/CrimeandComedy Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crimeandcomedy.podcast/ Telegram: https://t.me/crimeandcomedy Sito: https://www.crimeandcomedy.it Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/crimeandcomedy/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CrimeComedy Instagram: Clara Campi: https://www.instagram.com/claracampicomedy/ Marco Champier: https://www.instagram.com/mrchreddy/ Caricature - Giorgio Brambilla: https://www.instagram.com/giorgio_brambilla_bookscomedy/ Capitoli: (00:00:00) | Intro (00:00:24) | Sigla (00:00:38) | La triste storia di Gypsy Rose e Dee Dee Bancharde (00:04:46) | The Bitch Is Dead! Marybeth Tinning once said that there were two things she wanted from life—to be married to someone who cared for her and to have children. She’s been married to Joe for 55 years and Marybeth did have children. Between 1971 and 1985, Marybeth and Joe Tinning had 9 children. They also buried nine children. This week, Courtney and Davyn throw it back to their earlier days and each bring a case that happened the year they were born.In 1985, Marybeth Tinning murdered her ninth child and what that investigation revealed was not what anyone was expecting. In 1995, Nacole Smith was rushing back to her house to get a forgotten project so she could then reach the bus in time and go to school. Unfortunately, the 14 year old met a much worse fate and this crime has still gone unsolved. This week Nathalie and Rachel cover two cases of mothers who killed/attempted to kill their children. Nathalie starts off with some information about maternal filicide, including the different types and possible motives for murder. Rachel starts off the podcast with the story of Marybeth Tinning. After Marybeth and her husband, Joe, lost their first child, Jennifer, Marybeth was never quite the same. Marybeth had seven more children (and one adopted child) all died under mysterious circumstances. Even though she was only ever charged with the murder of her daughter, Tami Lynn, it is believed that she was responsible for all of their deaths. Nathalie then tells the story of Diane Downs. One night in May of 1983, Diane drove into the hospital in a blood-spattered car. She claimed that she and her three children were victims of a carjacking gone wrong. Investigators became suspicious after her story began to unravel and soon saw Diane had shot her children in an attempt to win back the affections of her ex-lover, Robert Knickerbocker. After her trial, Diane's two surviving children were adopted by the lead prosecutor on the case. All Marybeth Tinning wanted was love and attention - like most any other person, right? Except in her case, the lack of emotional development, abuse, isolation, and feelings of neglect that she experienced as a child would lead her to commit the most inexcusable crimes against children...her OWN children. Tinning murdered eight of her nine children as a way to elicit sympathy and attention from anyone who would give it to her. Because she was only charged and tried for the death of one child, Marybeth Tinning was released from prison on parole on August 21st, 2018.Check out the Mask of Sanity Instagram (@maskofsanitythepodcast) and Twitter (@masksanitypod) for more updates on upcoming episodes. Marybeth Tinning and her husband Joe, buried all 9 of their children over a 15 year period. Doctors scratched their heads while nurses brought theirs together in whisper. Had the Tinning’s created a “death gene”? Or was Marybeth bringing children into the world for the explicit purpose of taking them back out… in exchange for pity? *Marybeth has been paroled since this episodes original release. When Marybeth Tinning’s infant daughter Jennifer died, friends, neighbors and medical personnel felt sorry for the grieving mother. A few weeks later, Marybeth’s young son died, too. People couldn’t believe it. How many losses could one person withstand? Then another child died. And another. And another. In total, nine of Marybeth’s children died over the course of 14 years. In that time, people’s reactions evolved from sympathetic to suspicious. Then Kristin tells us the story of Gilberto Valle, a.k.a., the cannibal cop. Kathleen Valle knew her marriage wasn’t going great. But when Kathleen figured out exactly what her husband Gilberto was doing online, her blood ran cold. Her NYPD policeman husband had been chatting online about torturing, raping, killing and eating her. But the horror didn’t end there. He talked about carrying out these plans on many women. Authorities took action, but Gilberto’s defense was strong. He hadn’t actually carried out any of these plans. He claimed he was just fantasizing — with no intention of ever harming anyone. This case had people everywhere trying to draw the line between fantasies and criminal intent. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia. (No shade, Wikipedia. We love you.) We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: “A Dangerous Mind” by: Robert Kolker for New York Magazine “Gilberto Valle, ex-New York police officer, talks about his cannibalism fantasies in film,” New York Times HBO Documentary, “Thought Crimes: The case of the cannibal cop” “Ex-officer’s conviction in cannibal case shouldn’t be reinstated, appeals court rules,” New York Times “Cannibal Cop’s wife takes the stand as horrific details of former NYPD officer’s twisted bondage fetish emerge in first day of trial,” New York Daily News In this episode, Brandi pulled from: “14 years and nine tiny corpses later, authorities finally took action on murderous mother” by Mara Bovsun, New York Daily News “Baby Killer” by Mark Gado, crimelibrary.com “Baby killer Marybeth Tinning leaves prison” Albany Times Union
