This is the third Australian Article Club. It covers the following article: Nyberg, G., Backman, E., & Tinning, R. (2022). Moving online in physical education teacher education. Sport, Education and Society, 29(3), 358–370. https://doi.org/10.1080/13573322.2022.2142776 In this article the authors discuss the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic created for preservice teachers' knowledge in and about movement and their developing movement capability in PETE in a Swedish University. In a way, covid potentially accelerated the process of a Physical Education degree transitioning to fully online. We discuss why this continues in some universities and the factors that contribute to it. We also discuss some of the effects we think it is having on graduate teachers and ultimately the effect it may have on students – all because the PE community and others do not value the 3 dimensions of Arnold's model equally. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pwrhpe/support
Marybeth Tinning murdered each of her children in cold blood. The motive was that she enjoyed the sympathy and attention she received when her children brought to the hospital. The causes of death for Tinning's first eight children was initially thought to be genetic. Even when her sixth child, Michael – who was adopted and not of blood relation – died in 1981, authorities failed to open an investigation.

What began as an attempt to highlight the strength of women through the lens of those who've done ghastly things has transformed into an unpredictable journey through Lily's perverse ramblings and Esther's Tudor-inspired musical interludes. In each episode, they aim to discuss a notorious woman, but often get delightfully sidetracked. Strip Tinning Holdings PLC (AIM:STG) executive chairman Adam Robson joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with an overview of the company and highlights of its 2023 financial year. Founded in Birmingham 50 years ago, Strip Tinning originally manufactured copper strips for automotive demisters. Over time, it evolved into a specialist producer of connectors used in car glazing systems, integrating electronics like aerials and radar within automotive glass. Recently, the company expanded into the Battery Technologies division, targeting the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) market with specialised connectors for battery packs, marking a significant diversification of its product offerings. Robson highlighted 2023 as a pivotal year, featuring robust commercial progress with a revenue of £10.8 million and an adjusted EBITDA of £0.1 million. The Glazing division, contributing the majority of sales, achieved a substantial turnaround, with gross margins increasing from 6% in 2020 to 40% in 2023. This recovery is credited to strategic adjustments made in response to external challenges like the Ukraine conflict and inflationary pressures. Additionally, the company recently secured significant new orders, bolstering its order book by 91% and promising considerable future growth. Looking ahead, Robson envisions 2025 as a transformative year for Strip Tinning, driven by these new ventures, especially in the EV and smart glass markets. A recent capital raise of £5.1 million is aimed at supporting these growth ambitions, positioning the company for a potential doubling of sales over the next three years. #StripTinning, #AdamRobson, #AutomotiveConnectors, #CarGlazing, #BatteryTechnologies, #ElectricVehicles, #EVMarket, #SmartGlass, #Investment, #BusinessGrowth, #UKManufacturing, #AutoIndustry, #Innovation, #Technology, #FinancialResults, #MarketExpansion, #FutureTech, #CorporateStrategy, #RevenueGrowth, #Sustainability #ProactiveInvestors #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

About this episode Amy Tinning shares just how Branches Performing Arts literally branches out across the outback by bringing dance education to students in regional, rural and remote communities. Along with her fellow teacher Tammy Gordon the pair cover a combined total of 2,000km every fortnight. That is 300 students across seven towns. Hughenden, Richmond, Cloncurry, Julia Creek, Winton, Longreach and Barcaldine. Basically they teach a whopping 84 scheduled classes, and 80 private coaching sessions, to students in the Northern Territory, Outback Queensland and Northern New South Wales. Distance Dance Significantly Amy first began delivering Distance Dance, Branches' online classes, well before Covid forced us all to transition to remote learning. Subsequently Branches' Distance Dance and has been a leader in the way they have supported students and families unable to attend in-person dance classes due to pure logistics. But distance and dance has always gone hand-in-hand for Amy. As a rural kid who begged her parents to let her attend dance classes Amy inevitably sees no geographical barriers when it comes to learning dance. Creating Community Branches Performing Arts is deeply rooted in connecting dance with kids and their communities, and we are in absolute awe of their dedication to helping outback dancers' dreams come true. Indeed that is part of the reason behind Amy branching out with her Co Stars Dance Company based in Mt Isa. In this way Amy and Tammy are able to provide developing young artists with professional level performance experience and exposure to high quality dance training and artistic processes. The team attend comps, perform at various events and are able to experience the magic of performance, Amy's first love. In the first three episodes in my series on Munchausen syndrome by proxy, I searched for answers about this commonly misunderstood form of child abuse while I discussed multiple cases of children harmed or even killed by mothers who sought attention for themselves and thrived on drama, heedless of the damage they did to their children. During my search, I came out with more questions than answers! For this episode, I welcomed two very special guests to help me answer those questions. Author Andrea Dunlop drew from personal experience with a family member to write her latest novel, We Came Here to Forget, which centers around a woman whose family was torn apart by Munchausen by proxy. Dr. Marc Feldman, who I have quoted multiple times throughout the series, is an international expert in the field of factitious disorders whose credentials are too numerous to list in the show notes! I was honored to have an in-depth, fascinating conversation with both Andrea and Dr. Feldman, who provided their uniquely qualified perspectives and expertise on this baffling topic. Diving into more questions from listeners, Episode 7 discusses what "flux" is in regards to copper cookware - the different types available to smiths now, and what is considered all-natural and vintage as well as modern flux (hint: it's great trivia that includes pine trees!). I also discuss one of the more unusual shapes I've come across in cookware restoration lately, which inspires many fantasies about what has been cooked in a piece made in the 1700s! All Marybeth Tinning wanted was love and attention - like most any other person, right? Except in her case, the lack of emotional development, abuse, isolation, and feelings of neglect that she experienced as a child would lead her to commit the most inexcusable crimes against children...her OWN children. Tinning murdered eight of her nine children as a way to elicit sympathy and attention from anyone who would give it to her. Because she was only charged and tried for the death of one child, Marybeth Tinning was released from prison on parole on August 21st, 2018.Check out the Mask of Sanity Instagram (@maskofsanitythepodcast) and Twitter (@masksanitypod) for more updates on upcoming episodes. Marybeth Tinning and her husband Joe, buried all 9 of their children over a 15 year period. Doctors scratched their heads while nurses brought theirs together in whisper. Had the Tinning’s created a “death gene”? Or was Marybeth bringing children into the world for the explicit purpose of taking them back out… in exchange for pity? *Marybeth has been paroled since this episodes original release.
