Winnie Ruth Judd reached notoriety in Phoenix, Arizona in 1931 when she was stopped at an LA train station with two dead bodies in trunks. The victims were Judd’s former roommates, Agnes Anne LeRoi and Hedvid “Sammy” Samuelson. She was promptly extradited back to Arizona to stand trial. While she was charged and found guilty of the murder of Agnes LeRoi, many don’t believe she had anything to do with the crime. Henry Lee Lucas rose to infamy after being arrested for the murder of Frieda "Becky" Powell and Kate Rich. What followed was not what police excepted. For close to three years Henry lee Lucas offered up 3,571 confessions, some of which implicated his partner Ottis Toole. Of those, police believed 650 of them to be reputable and cleared the cases. Adolf Dassler saw an opportunity in the late 19th century to create a shoe that would fit the needs of athletes. With only one shoe available at the time for all activities, his innovation was highly successful. After a falling out, the brothers moved across the river from each other and Rudolf created yet another athletic company you may have heard of- Puma. Over the years the companies competed for popularity, endorsing athletes, but the two brothers never reconciled prior to their deaths. In the 70s, New York City and New Jersey were terrorized by a sadistic killer targeting prostitutes. Richard Cottingham would later be known as The Torso Killer and the Times Square Ripper after each victim was found to be severely mutilated. While just 9 murders have been conclusively linked to Cottingham, he claims to have killed 85 women over an estimated 12 years. Dennis Nilsen terrorized London in the late 70s, early 80s. Dubbed The Kindly Killer, Dennis Nilsen would lure his victims back under the guise of drinks, music, a nice meal, and a place to stay. Only 7 would make it out alive. Once inside the house, the victims would hang out and then go to sleep. Nilsen would proceed to then strangle and drown his victims as a way to prevent them from ever leaving him. Richard Ramirez aka The Night Stalker terrorized Los Angeles and San Francisco from 1984 to 1985. He frequently chose houses at random, attacking victims if their door was unlocked giving him easy access. As his crimes progressed, he began incorporating his satanic interests in his crimes. Richard Ramirez would make his victims swear on satan, say they loved satan, or drew crosses on both his victims and the crime scene. Once convicted, groupies flooded him with correspondence. He even married Doreen Lioy while in San Quentin State Prison. Even though he was on death row, Richard Ramirez got off easy. He died June 7, 2013 from b-cell lymphoma and Hepatitis C. After being primed by the Seventh-day Adventist Church to be a leader, he helped found the Battle Creek Sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan. When his brother William was tired of working at the broom factory, he took John’s offer of working under him at the Sanitorium. But it wasn’t an ideal pairing. John banned many things at the sanitorium. Including sugar. After dealing with a bland, early version of cereal, Will accidentally cooked up in the kitchen, he defied his brother and added sugar to the recipe.
