Our frequent guest Matt Moseley, author of the book Dear Dr. Thompson about Hunter's successful effort to free a Colorado woman from prison after her strange felony murder conviction, helps kick off our parallel podcast we're calling "District-to-District." Based in the District of Columbia and linked with the Garden District of New Orleans (where the HG studio is STILL under construction!), the podcast will look at how the Capital district connects with others. In this installment, Matt joins Curtis and Christopher finally recording live at poolside, and it's all about water. Matt has recently returned from swimming the Sea of Galilee (yes, that one) and is visiting Washington to educate lawmakers about water issues. His efforts were part of an American Rivers lobbing day and he also offers insight into the gonzo world of distance swimming, not to be confused with his other passion: endurance lunching.

Matthew Moseley’s open-water swimming feats are so impressive, even the Hunter S. Thompson took notice. “Gonzo swimming” didn’t exist until Matt Moseley combined his quixotic endeavors with Hunter S. Thompson’s unrivaled wit. Far from the merman figure one might conjure when imagining who could swim cage-free across the Caribbean Sea — from the U.S. Virgin Islands to Puerto Rico — Moseley presents the jovial visage of an everyman. But his ruddy cheeks and easy manner belie a man who’s dived headlong into stormy seas not just literally, but also as an agent of social change. From the worsening water crisis choking off America’s waterways to high-profile murder cases, Moseley’s aquatic antics seem very much in line with his everyday convictions. Moseley’s latest feat, swimming the length of the Green River, is part of his ongoing efforts to address the water plight of the rivers of the American West. It’s also the subject of an upcoming film from American Rivers.

Do I dare say it? "Fake News"? It's a term forever tied to our 45th President but it's not a novel concept. There has been a growing distrust of the media that you can trace back to 1972 when you had military leaders actively accusing the venerable Walter Cronkite of biased journalism that undermined the American conflict in Vietnam. Let's be honest, it goes back even further - one of the more iconic photos of the 20th century is Harry Truman holding up the headlines of the Daily Chicago Tribune which proclaimed "DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN".As long as humans are....human (?) we will have biases that leak into our every being - imagine being a talking head with a vested interest in one side of the story and being tasked with proclaiming the inherent goodness of the other side. Yes it's different for professional journalists, but therein lies a big part of the problem. "Journalists" are a dying breed. Join me and media watchdog Matt Moseley as we discuss the very real problem of a corrupt media.

Also, we really didn't get our names or the podcast in the intro because we ended up bullshitting for about an hour before doing the podcast (during the longest sound-check ever), so our names appear over an hour later. So...sorry? Host Daniel Brown, Co-host Norm de Plume, Special Guest* Matt Moseley, and other guest Jason Switzer meet up to discuss Star Wars #8, which is basically The Seven Star Warsai. Only, since the last half is missing, we end up doing a lot of banter about Star Wars vs. Star Trek after the "bowwww....babowbowbowbowbooowwwww..." part of the podcast.   *Editor's Note: Due to this taking place long before Issue #50 Matt Moseley, in this particular episode, is still Special Guest.   twitter - comstalkcomics reddit - comicstalkcomics email - comicstalkcomics@gmail.com Facebook - Comics Talk Comics Facebook Page

Comics Talk Comics is back with the another look at the Spider Man title, Trouble. Well, it's a Spider Man title without the spider and, based on the ages of the characters, very few men. Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Co-host-special-guest Matt Moseley gather together to discuss the origin story of Peter Parker's conception. Things are really taking off, as we delve further into the history of Uncle Ben, the love triangle taking place between friends, and further development into Richard Parker, father of Spider Man. Who are we kidding? It's an uncomfortable read with equally-uncomfortable covers. twitter - comstalkcomics reddit - comicstalkcomics email - comicstalkcomics@gmail.com Facebook Page - Comics Talk Comics Facebook Page

Never has a comic book title been more appropriate. This week the members of Comics Talk Comics (Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and S.G. Matt Moseley) decide to finally discuss a comic about one of the greatest heroes in comicdom: Spider-Man. Except this is our podcast, which means our Spider-Man comic book has no Spider-Man, but a lot of inappropriate moments between Peter's family. Set in the 60's/70's/or 00's, Trouble is the origin story of Peter Parker that asks a question that nobody wanted to know: "How was Peter Parker conceived?" It turns out in the worst way imaginable. Also, we apologize for anyone who ends up following along or seeing the feed: These covers are uncomfortable. Actually, this whole thing is uncomfortable. twitter - comstalkcomics reddit - comicstalkcomics email - comicstalkcomics@gmail.com Facebook Page - Comics Talk Comics Facebook Page

Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Matt Moseley (who is now promoted to "guest") discuss the wonders of Archie Meets the Punisher. twitter - comstalkcomics reddit - comicstalkcomics email - comicstalkcomics@gmail.com

Issue 50 is still coming along, but we needed to finish this arc. There was a serious debate to start something else before rounding out our journey. But did the Donner Party give up on their trek? Did Burk and Willis give up on their attempt to explore? Sputnik? Franklin? Absolutely not! So why would we? At the conclusion of this episode there will be around 9+ hours of audio, between all the episodes, of Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Matt Moseley discussing the series Marville. We aren't bad people. Really, we rag on a lot of the comics in our lists, but there is usually a silver lining that we can genuinely enjoy. 1960's Fantastic Four art. Chuck Norris walking around some docks. Joseph Culp's performance as Dr. Doom in the 1994 Fantastic Four movie. The last page of Billy Ray Cyrus' comic which, as of this writing, graces are Twitter page. This comic has none of that. To quote Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, who makes a lot of sense in light of this comic: "There are no more barriers to cross. All I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil, all the mayhem I have caused and my utter indifference toward it I have now surpassed. My pain is constant and sharp, and I do not hope for a better world for anyone." twitter - comstalkcomics reddit - comicstalkcomics email - comicstalkcomics@gmail.com Facebook Page - Comics Talk Comics Facebook Page

Milestones are important. For example, if the human race is still around in 500 years, nobody is going to care who won The Grammy's in 2148. However, people will think "Who won the Grammy for Best Song of the Year for 2000," look up the information, and find that the collaboration between Santana and Rob Thomas produced the winning song, "Smooth." They will hear the song and exclaim "OF COURSE THIS IS TIMELESS!" Well, we want to adhere to those values at Comics Talk Comics, so we refuse to let an episode of Marville be our Issue 50. We are currently working on that much-more bomb-ass episode, but for now we have...this. Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Matt Moseley come together to review and discuss Marville #5. We learn more about the secret that Bill Jemas has decided to reveal to the world. I'll leave you with this tidbit from the comic: "Jesus was the first super hero." That is both something in this comic book and something that needs to be on a t-shirt. twitter - comstalkcomics reddit - comicstalkcomics email - comicstalkcomics@gmail.com Facebook Page - Comics Talk Comics Facebook Page

This particular episode is a continuation of our live show: It's Comic Talk Comic's live material. We wanted to make sure they were mastered properly because these jokes kind of encapsulate who we are as a team. Daniel Brown is a smart guy who likes dumb things, Norm de Plume is a smart guy who says smart things, and Matt Moseley is a smart guy who likes alcohol. Once again, we want to thank the thousands (you weren't there, so you can't fact check that) of fans that made it out to watch us perform. We also want to give another shout out to Back Porch Comedy in Pensacola for setting this up for us. We look forward to doing another one of these in the future. twitter - comstalkcomics reddit - comicstalkcomics email - comicstalkcomics@gmail.com Facebook Page - Comics Talk Comics Facebook Page

We are on issue #45 and it's worth mentioning how close this podcast was to doing the series "Marville" before "NFL Super Pro." If it weren't for the fact that football season was going on during the creation of episode number one we could have easily started with this series first. Let's just call it a dodged bullet. Marville generally makes critic's top ten lists for "Worst comic book of all time." The podcast has had a lot of experience reading bad comics, but nothing prepared us for this journey. AOL jokes. Ted Turner. Dog farts. Alan Greenspan as a bank manager. Reading this comic book made us believe we were in some kind of shared fever dream. Join Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Matt Moseley as they take a journey into the strangest god-damned thing we've seen on the podcast. twitter - comstalkcomics reddit - comicstalkcomics email - comicstalkcomics@gmail.com Facebook - Comics Talk Comics Facebook Page

The 'cast continues to delve into the lunacy that is The Fantastic Four. Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Matt Moseley discuss the latter part of the movie which, and we know this is hard to believe, even crazier than the first half. We stay pretty much on topic, though there is some discussion of Ruben Studdard opening a sandwich shop with Pee Wee Herman called "Ruben and Reuban's Reubans." NFL SuperPro continues to impress the group. We enjoyed the second issue so much that we managed to stay on topic and not run off into too many strange tangents. Though, truth be told, Daniel Brown has to get an argument in that Scar, of Lion King fame, was Disney's first gay villain. "Dude likes dude lions." He's joined by Norm de Plume and Matt Moseley in another outing. This also marks the first time that all members of the podcast reveal on of the most intimiate details any man could: Their favorite sauce to put on food. We've been on a bit of a hiatus, but we are back with the final episode of our Magnum opus: The Death of Superman. Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Special Guest Matt Moseley go deep into the mythos of DC's flagship character. Before listening to this episode we recommend checking out Issue 12 and 13 first, so as to give context to our dislike of the entire arc. Though this particular episode is about The Death of Superman it is worth noting that a spiritual battle takes place throughout between Daniel Brown and Matt Moseley on whether or not Million Dollar Baby is a good movie (it is). "There are bad things. There are bad things in the world. Many bad things. There are some things that are worse than those bad things. But this is the worst thing." - Norm de Plume Well, we finally did it. We've been having a good time enjoying NFL comic books and the beautifully-rendered art of Billy Ray Cyrus' masculinity. And then this happened. Joining us as a special guest is Sid Kuhn (and special guest Matt Moseley). Daniel Brown frequently mentions Spiderman's One More Day and Brand New Day as the worst comics of all time, but then WWE Superstars decides to crash the party, kick his dog, eat his food, drink his beer, and throw up in his bed. Also, Norm de Plume, who has no familiarity with wrestling, is taught by a room full of people (who are paying for both the WWE Network and their sins by reading this) how to fight without hurting the other person. Actually, if you don't know anything about wrestling you will learn the following during this podcast: (1) Kayfabe (2) How to do the People's Elbow (3) How to do a proper choke slam (4) CM Punk's real name (5) The purpose of a Singapore cain/bamboo stick/wooden sword (6) Daniel Bryan (7) How John Cena sounds to Brent, who has never heard John Cena talk (8) Why Randy Orton does that pose at the end of matches (9) AND MUCH MORE! This comic is so bad it must be treated like poetry, so let's end with what we started. "This is the worst thing."
