www.commsolutionsmn.com-  The Minneapolis Federation of Teachers recently agreed to a stipulation in their contract that white teachers will get laid off before educators of other races. Wow, racist much? They say that minority teachers can never make it because all the white teachers have seniority. This is a clear case study in antiracism. Remember, antiracism isn't being against racism, it's using discrimination against a so-called group of "oppressors" to level the playing field for an identified group of "victims". The Minneapolis Federation of Teachers says that they are "extremely proud" of the language in the contracts. They say racist things like students learn best from teachers who look like them. What? So white teachers are incapable of teaching BIPOC students? It gets better... they go on to say that white student benefit from teachers of color. I guess white teachers are no longer needed. White people must pay for their racist sins. How do you like your antiracism now? Will this bleed into other sectors of public employment? Government administration? Police? What about in the private sector? ESG scores are already driving this in corporate boards and upper leadership. It only makes sense that we'll see it in the lower ranks as well. It's amazing to see the media slant to laud this policy and demonize anyone that speaks out against it. We also discuss the recent attempt of the Executive Branch to erase student debt. Why is that our issue? Why is college so expensive? What can we do to change the culture around higher education? We try to tackle the problems and the solutions. There is an ambitious plan to put EV charging stations across an 1,100 mile stretch on Lake Michigan, problem is the cost and there is no demand for the stations. www.commsolutionsmn.com- Just when you think that we've talked about the stupidest thing on the face of the planet, we blow even our own expectations. I-94 is going to need some major repairs to bring it into the future, but Our Streets Minneapolis and MNDOT have a great idea. We need to rip out I-94 completely and replace it with the Twin Cities Boulevard. What? So we're going to take one of the busiest corridors in all of the city, with hospitals, sports stadiums, and two major downtown business centers, and just remove the freeway that moves most of those vehicles from point "A" to point "B". They would like to have a boulevard with stop lights instead, and push all the traffic to 694 and 494. The MN Department of Transportation (MNDOT) has had their "Rethinking I-94" in the works for years. They are working with groups like Our Streets Minneapolis to develop alternatives to I-94, so that communities can be reconnected. There isn't anyone around that remembers when I-94 was built, and is clamoring for a simpler day. It's just not true. The activists say that highways are racist. What isn't nowadays? It's not just in the Twin Cities either... Duluth wants to remove part of I-35 too. The manipulation is off the charts and it's obscene. Take the survey on MNDOT's website and make your voice heard now. Soon, it will be too far down the line to stop. Also, the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers is pushing for a 20% pay increase, plus a whole host of other unreasonable demands. They actually have the gall to claim that it's for the kids. It's time to get your kids out of that district while there is still time. Have you checked out our Spotify playlist? The East Side Freedom Library invites you to a conversation with author Eric Lotke about his newly published novel, Union Made. Recent events have raised our awareness about the challenges faced by service and retail workers and by their efforts to organize. From Twin Cities brew pubs and coffee shops to Amazon warehouses in Alabama, Staten Island, and Shakopee, diverse workers are organizing to have a say about their working conditions and wages. Our friends at Hard Ball Press have just published a novel, Union Made, which takes readers inside this world. This novel is a fast-paced romance with a political edge, revealing the tactics, strains, and risks of mobilizing a multiracial group of workers to stand together against a merciless management holding them down. With a strong female lead and a gripping labor campaign that explores union organizing from the inside, Eric Lotke puts the reader in the shoes of Catherine Campbell, a labor organizer, and Nate Hawley, an accountant whose company is planning a hostile takeover of Pac-Shoppe, the company she's trying to organize. There are sparks between the union activists and the company's dirty tricksters, and sparks between Catherine and Nate. As Catherine's campaign falters in the face of Pac-Shoppe's illegal hardball tactics, Nate's sympathy for the workers and his fascination with Catherine grow. Can the lonely accountant interest the determined labor organizer by sharing evidence of Pac-Shoppe's dirty tricks? How much trouble will he be in if he reveals corporate secrets to the union? Find out in this touching love story wrapped in a contemporary labor battle. Eric Lotke is an author, activist and scholar. His early work, The Real War on Crime, was groundbreaking on criminal justice policy. His original research on Prisoners of the Census has led to new law in ten states so far. His lawsuit over the exploitative price of phone calls from prison led to new rules by the FCC. Joining Eric for this conversation will be Cathy Hanson, editor of the Minneapolis American Postal Workers Union's newspaper, KaeJae Johnson, staff director of the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers, and Luke Mielke, who has been an organizer for the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees in Chicago. They have read Union Made, and they will help draw out its implications for organizers, activists, and readers. To view the video: https://youtu.be/iHZVdldiauE

www.commsolutionsmn.com- A year ago, the Minneapolis City Council was dead set on not defunding, but dismantling, the Minneapolis Police Department. To do this, they would have to change the city charter, which required a police presence, including minimums per capita. The Charter Commission wasn't having any of that. Either a "yes" or "no" vote on the proposal would put the issue back with the City Council for certain approval. Instead, they decided to table the proposal, putting it on hold for 90 days... and past the date of the election, tying the council's hands. Now there is a "citizen-led" group (with the help of the ACLU, Minneapolis Federation of Teachers, and a whole mess of other radical groups) called Yes For Minneapolis that has one goal: to finish the work that the city council couldn't get done. They circulated a petition to change the city charter, removing the police department entirely, and replacing it with the Department of Public Safety. They may or may not have to hire police at all, depending on the situation. What? Have they looked at the exponential rise in crime, shootings, and murder in Minneapolis? I can't think of a worse solution. Yes For Minneapolis is made of a bunch of also ran groups like Sex Workers Outreach Project Minneapolis, Reviving Sisterhood, Reclaim the Block, Education for Liberation, Women for Political Change, and others. Why are the 5% leading the 95% around? Why is the majority so scared of these radical groups? They are working to get this on the ballot for this coming November. You had better pray that this goes over like lead balloon, because once the police are gone, all the criminals will come here and the suburbs will be in their sights as well. Minneapolis needs to learn to be a good neighbor to the rest of the metro area. They are not an island unto themselves. Should they succeed with this proposal, they should come under an avalanche of lawsuits from the surrounding cities. They have a duty to do their fair share in protecting and serving the Metro area.
