We finally reviewed the car movie starring Michael Keaton and Long Duck Dong, and it's glorious! A fictional Japanese Automotive company decided to expand production into the US in the mid 1980's…..a lot like the actual companies really did. And the Japanese have a wholly different work ethic than do regular old Union US Auto Workers. And that's true - or was back then. And a well intentioned but perpetually lucky Union Leader talks them into saving an abandoned US automotive plant that was the center of their town. The Japanese agreed, but only if the plant could be run with kaizen; a process of continuous improvement and dedication to work above all else. So….that didn't work at all. But in the end, to save the plant, and save the town, the Japanese and the Americans work together to make something great….and by that, I mean the effort, not the cars. 8 Corndogs! The post K&F Show #301: The Belt Alignment Conundrum; Car Movie Review: Michael Keaton's “Gung Ho!” first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.

This is the audio excerpt of a podcast interview with David Fair, Deputy Chief at Turning Points for Children, regarding his part on the re-make of @HBO documentary series “Eyes On The Prize,” which is a continuation of the 1980's PBS film; the award-winning documentary series telling the stories of the civil rights movement in the US. We interviewed David in July 2022. The first two series were broadcast in the 80s and covered up to 1985, and the new series will be released next year and pick up from there looking at the fight against discrimination within the African Amercian especially people affected by the HIV pandemic. We did this interview via audio July 2022, and made it available on our YouTube, but the file was corrupted and removed. We have edited and updated a video excerpt which is available here. Th full episode was for over two-hour and is available in its entirety on the audio podcast. The episode begins with an excerpt from the opening sounds of the original Eyes on the Prize series by @PBS . I then share a song that I sung to transition into the discussions entitled: “You're My Brother, you're my sister,” as David embodied this need to demonstrate love that does not include color. Here's a white gay man in the 1980's who was defying his community! The interview was extremely informative and powerful. He discusses why he was interviewed for the new documentary by the HBO crew recently and talked about his work as a Union Leader and then Spearheading the setting up of funding programs to combat HIV/AIDS IN THE 1980S. We explored how the epidemic speaks to the issue of race & inequality as there were racism within the white gay community towards black gays which didn't have any agency of such & lack funds to get treatment or access education about #HIV/ #AIDS. He explored how it wasn't until 1987 that city government in Philadelphia provided funding as most of the available funds were within the white gay community (private funding); Blacks were poor. The interview is available in audio (and video only on the Spotify platform). It was one hour long & we even touched briefly on other topics such as Child Youth & Family in Philadelphia, homelessness & the efficacy of documentary films in purporting truth. In the interview, David said he uses his white privilege to create or effect change in a positive way by working to advance the lives of black and brown people affected by HIV/AIDS in the 1980s when he went from a union leader/organizer to pressing for help to support these vulnerable group to eventually becoming one of the person instrumental and the mastermind behind the setting up of funds and created organizations that are funded to support poor black community that includes those affected by HIV/Aids; and these agencies still exists today. https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theneoliberal/support. Note: Today 1 out of every 7 young black and brown males are affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. And it wasn't until 1987 that black and brown gay people got any agency to deal with HIV/AIDS, thanks to #philadelphia's #firstblackmayor. Moreover, Reagan wasn't providing federal funding to assist black and brown people to fight the disease. And black and brown peoples living with HIV/AIDS were poor and stigmatized more heavily than their white counterparts who were also discriminated against but was said to be racist towards black gay people. The white gay community had money, so that they never needed federal funding but did not care much for black gay people and did not share their funds with black gay people who were poor. This attitude is what defied these vulnerable groups. They are all subjugated and discriminated against but weren't as united as they still practiced a form of racism and discrimination themselves. We explored these in the interview with David Fair on The Neoliberal Round. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theneoliberal/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theneoliberal/support

The question of whether Indian Country and the United States should be viewed as separate entities or as one unified country has been a topic of debate for decades. Given the history of colonization, genocide, and ongoing oppression faced by Indigenous peoples in the United States, tribes have argued that they should be recognized as true sovereign nations, separate and distinct from the U.S.On the other hand, some argue that the idea of a "united" America is paramount and that recognizing that separate individual "Nations within a Nation" would be a threat to national unity and security. In this podcast, we will offer perspective on how the complex history and ongoing struggles faced by Indigenous peoples in the United States are largely ignored by elected politicians who (in some cases) come from within our tribal communities.Also...Recently, the Keep America Beautiful organization announced the release of all rights to its "Crying Indian" ad campaign made famous in the 1970s. It's Thursday, September 1st, A.D. 2022. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Pakistani Supreme Court grants bail to Christians Last Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan granted bail to a couple of Christians falsely accused of blaspheming Islam. Patras Masih and Raja Waris obtained bail after another Christian was released on bail earlier last week. Twenty-two-year-old Masih had spent four years in jail for his faith. Azad Marshall with the Church of Pakistan told Morning Star News, “Our people languish in jails for years till the time courts realize the miscarriage of justice and set them free. These inhumane acts must cease now, and the state must act to bring a deterrent against false accusations.” Mikhail Gorbachev, former Soviet Union leader, died Mikhail Gorbachev died on Tuesday at the age of 91 after a long illness. The communist leader was the last president of the Soviet Union before its collapse in 1991. In June of 1987, President Ronald Reagan, at the Berlin Wall, issued this challenge to the Soviet leader. REAGAN: “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” Just six months later at the White House, the two leaders, President Reagan and President Gorbachev, signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, reports ABC News. REAGAN: “We have listened to the wisdom of in an old Russian Maxim. Though my pronunciation may give you difficulty, the maxim is ‘доверяй, но проверяй.' Trust but verify.” (laughter) GORBACHEV: (gives reply in Russian) Translator says, “You repeat that at every meeting!” (laughter) Gorbachev pursued policies of what he called free speech and restructuring that were controversial in Russia. He also won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 for helping to end the Cold War. Hebrews 9:27b says, “It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” German court greenlights pro-lifers praying in front of abortion mills Germany's Mannheim Administrative Court ruled pro-lifers are not prohibited from holding prayer gatherings outside an abortion facility. Since 2019, the German city of Pforzheim had banned members of the group 40 Days for Life from praying outside the abortion facility, deceptively named Pro Familia. The legal victory comes at a time when officials across Europe are censoring pro-lifers and prayer vigils especially. Kentucky photographer not forced to snap shots of homosexual faux weddings Meanwhile in the U.S., a federal court ruled Tuesday a Christian photographer does not have to work at faux homosexual weddings. In 2019, Chelsey Nelson sued the city of Louisville, Kentucky over its so-called “Fairness Ordinance.” The ordinance bans discrimination against people living sexually perverted lifestyles and would require her to participate in homosexual ceremonies. The ruling does not overturn the ordinance, but it does block the city from enforcing it on Nelson. U.S. voters animated by economy and then abortion Pew Research released a new report on what issues are very important to voters in the 2022 congressional midterms. The economy remains the most important issue among voters by over 10 percentage points. However, the fastest growing issue among voters this year is abortion. Since the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the percentage of voters who say the abortion issue is very important rose from 43% to 56%. Virtually all of that increase comes from Democrat voters. Isaiah 59:7 says, “Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.” Florida: The most economically free state CATO released its Freedom in the States Report, an index of personal and economic freedoms in the U.S. Once again, Florida ranked first for economic freedom. It ranked second in the overall report. Based on overall freedom rankings, the top five states in the U.S. are New Hampshire, Florida, Nevada, Tennessee, and South Dakota. The five worst states on the report are Oregon, New Jersey, California, Hawaii, and New York. U.S. life expectancy slips to 76.1 years New data from the CDC found U.S. life expectancy at birth decreased by almost a year from 2020 to 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Life expectancy is now at 76.1 years, the lowest since 1996. Between 2019 and 2020, life expectancy fell 1.8 years. The decline in life expectancy in the last couple years is the largest two-year decline since the 1920s. However, life expectancy in the U.S. is still significantly up from 47 years in 1900. Another alternative to United Methodist Church And finally, another alternative has emerged for churches leaving the United Methodist Church. A group of former United Methodist large-membership churches will be launching the Foundry Network this month. Already, churches have been leaving the mainline denomination over the issue of homosexuality and joining the theologically conservative Global Methodist Church. Pastor Eric Huffman with the new Foundry Network said, “The Foundry Network … seeks to forge a network of like-minded pastors and churches who are aligned theologically and work together to reawaken the movement for Jesus in our communities.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Thursday, September 1st, in the year of our Lord 2022. Brandon Judd, President of the National Border Patrol Council, discuses the Biden Administration and Democrats lack of acknowledgement of the “humanitarian crisis” happening on the Southern Border. Judd saying, he has “none confidence, whatsoever,” in Biden or his Homeland Security policies. The Border Patrol union leader also comments on the 51 migrants found dead in a truck in San Antonio this week that, “when you hear Democrats say that they care about people, all you have to do is look at the action, don't listen to the words.” Commenting, “if they truly cared about people, they would enforce the laws to ensure that these people don't put themselves in the hands of these dangerous criminal organizations, but they don't enforce the laws, which is what is encouraging and driving this problem.”See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Harmony was caught in a hell, created by her parents. Mom lost custody due to severe and active drug addiction. Dad was also an addict and never reported his beautiful daughter was missing and likely dead. Adam Montgomery appears to have been abusive to his wife, girlfriend, and even tiny Harmony. She was observed with a black eye and it was said that Adam was responsible. This case is unfolding right now and some details are vague. Harmony went missing sometime in late November-December 2019, but Adam had custody and never reported his daughter missing. Adam has been indicted for the previous assault against Harmony, but it seems like he won't cooperate with the police trying to find his daughter. This week we are heading back to our home state of New Hampshire. This little state is full of big surprises as it is known for the worst weather on the entire planet. We dive into our knowledge of New Hampshire and the White Mountains (and add in some local tips for your visit) as we head to the slopes of Mount Washington. In January of 1982 two teenage climbers headed out to ice climb and summit but a horrible storm rolled in bringing snow, 140 mph winds and negative temperatures. When the Mountain Rescue Service goes out to help them, they find themselves in their own mission for survival. This is a story of extreme loss and tragedy and then redemption and strength. We love our National Parks and we know you do too but when you're out there, remember to enjoy the view but watch your back.
