Introducing “Coaching with Good Judgment”: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-center-for-medical-simulation/id1279266822 In simulation, we've often defaulted to debriefing and asking curious questions to our learners to try to understand the frames behind their actions and struggles. This can be hard to balance with the truth many teachers of novices know, which is: sometimes learners just need to be told what to do! Coaching with good judgment is a strategy based off debriefing with good judgment, with the structure of “Preview, Advocacy, Coach.” Step 1: Authorize yourself to coach. Sometimes we struggle with wanted to be “learner centered,” when what they need is for us to use our expertise to tell them what would work. Step 2: Diagnose a coaching situation. Some signs and symptoms of a coaching situation: The learner begins to struggle and one or more of the following may be true: 1) The task is meaningfully complex 2) You have lived experience of the task being difficult 3) The practice can't move forward without this step working 4) This error can be corrected just at the level of actions without knowing what they are thinking 5) We've agreed that this is a skills session in advance Step 3: “I see… I think… Try this…” Use the Preview, Advocacy, Coach structure to help the learner understand what to do and why, then quickly take more reps. Workout of the week: Try out “I saw… I think (the consequences of what I saw and my concerns are)… Here's what you should try.” Leadership Coaching from Jenny Rudolph: https://harvardmedsim.org/personal-leadership-coaching-with-jenny-rudolph/ #healthcaresimulation #nursing #medicine #debriefing

Grocery workers at Santa Cruz Markets in Goleta and Santa Barbara have unanimously voted to authorize an Unfair Labor Practice strike, setting the stage for a possible walkout just days before the busy Thanksgiving holiday. Union leaders say the vote is a response to what they describe as ongoing labor violations by the company, and workers are now prepared to strike if negotiations don't resume in good faith. KCSB's Emerson Good spoke with Erik Mendez, a grocery worker and member of the UFCW union about his experiences. NOTE: Since the original interview aired on November 20th, 2025, the Santa Cruz Markets reached a tentative agreement on a contract just before the Thanksgiving holiday, avoiding the strike altogether.

The Constitution, the Militia, and Federal Overreach Guest: Rob Natelson Rob Natelson clarifies that the militia, or National Guard, is fundamentally a state force under gubernatorial command, though Congress can authorize the President to call it forth to execute federal laws, suppress insurrections, or repel invasions. Russia and China's UN Cyber Crime Treaty: Redefining Crime to Authorize Persecution of Dissent. Ivana Stradner (Foundation for Defense of Democracies) discusses the UN cyber crime treaty drafted largely by Russia and China, which is likely to be approved by the General Assembly and would replace the Budapest Convention of 2001. The treaty's terms would dangerously allow Russia and China to persecute citizens for what is understood as dissent and pursue other countries for commenting upon them. Stradner notes the treaty emphasizes "all power to the state, not to the individual," serving the goals of digital sovereignty and authorizing authoritarian countries to regulate information security. The United States must reject ratification. Stradner emphasizes that powerful offensive and defensive cyber capabilities, not UN treaties, are what deter Russia and China from cyber attacks against the West.

“If you're an MSP looking for a growth hack, Viirtue Connect is the place to be.” That's how Dan Rosenrauch, Co-Founder of Viirtue, describes the company's upcoming partner conference and its broader mission to help MSPs scale smarter. In a conversation with Technology Reseller News Publisher Doug Green, Rosenrauch previewed Viirtue Connect 2025, taking place October 7–9 at the Woolworth Theater in downtown Nashville. For the first time, Viirtue is hosting the event outside its Tampa headquarters, choosing Nashville for its central location and vibrant atmosphere. “We don't often get the chance to see all of our partners in one spot,” Rosenrauch said. “Viirtue Connect is about learning how to grow together — and then celebrating together.” Despite industry-wide caution on travel budgets, registrations and sponsorships are already surpassing previous years. Rosenrauch credits this to the growing demand for smaller, more focused gatherings. “These bespoke shows resonate more with partners than the giant generalist events,” he noted. For MSPs, Viirtue Connect promises more than product updates. Attendees will gain hands-on training — from Google Ads and API integration workshops to collaborative Q&A sessions with Viirtue engineers and partners. The event will also showcase the roadmap for the v45 VoIP platform, new integrations such as Authorize.NET, and innovation from Viirtue's Vibe team. Networking opportunities will extend beyond the sessions, with evening events at Nashville landmarks like Luke's Rooftop. Beyond the conference, Rosenrauch emphasized Viirtue's broader role as a growth partner. From high-margin VoIP services to layered offerings like e-fax, cybersecurity, and AI, Viirtue is equipping MSPs with both the technology and the sales enablement to drive recurring revenue. “Our focus is on brand visibility and customer growth,” Rosenrauch said. “We're not just handing partners a solution and saying, ‘good luck.' We're teaching them how to grow.” Learn more and register at connect.viirtue.com.

The truth of Donald Trump's deployment of the National Guard to police Washington, D.C. is evident in the demographics of other cities he claims to want to target. Governor Wes Moore makes it clear that he is not interested in playing along with Trump's stunt if Trump tries to move on to Baltimore. More than 15,000 nurses and health care workers across 22 hospitals and clinics in the Twin Cities and Twin Ports have voted to authorize a strike amid contract negotiations. While it doesn't mean a strike will happen, it's one step closer to health care workers going to the picket line. Chris Rubesch is the president of the Minnesota Nurses Association, the union representing the nurses and health care workers involved, and an RN at Essentia Health in Duluth. He joined Minnesota Now to talk about the vote.Minnesota Now reached out to the Twin Cities Hospital Group for an interview, but they were unavailable. They provided this statement:“Today's announcement of a strike vote puts the union's “strike first, patients second” mentality on full display. It is disappointing that the union has chosen this path instead of working collaboratively to find solutions. While today's vote tally does not mean a strike is imminent (a 10-day notice must be provided), if the union decides it is preferable for our nurses to leave their patients at the bedside, our hospitals will be fully prepared to care for patients. As they must be, our teams are focused on concluding these negotiations, reaching a fair settlement, and serving our patients.”

JPMorgan Chase is scaling its digital resources and fintech integrations to support small business owners through economic uncertainty and continued digital transformation. The effort starts with understanding business owners, John Frerichs, head of global SMB payments at the $4.3 trillion bank, tells Bank Automation News in this episode of “The Buzz” podcast. “Our duty is to be here for our customers in difficult and uncertain times,” he says. According to JPMorgan Chase's March small business sentiment survey, 78% of respondents were optimistic about the future, with about 40% planning to expand, Frerichs tells BAN. However, tariff concerns could cause confidence to dip slightly in April, he notes. Chase expects the results of its April small business sentiment survey by early May, the bank shared with BAN. With April marking National Financial Literacy Month, Frerichs emphasizes its importance: “We want to make small business owners' life as easy as possible. Part of that is through financial literacy.” For example, the bank's Coaching for Impact program, which provides consulting, on-demand financial education and banking tools for entrepreneurs, has grown from four cities to 38 since its 2020 launch to include 82 senior business consultants. “So far, 7,000 small businesses have gone through the program,” Frerichs says. To help business owners make data-informed decisions, Chase applies AI and analytics to transaction data. “We take anonymized transaction data and spin it back to … a small business owner, showing sales, customer demographics and transaction trends,” he says. Chase also offers SMBs end-to-end digital tools, including: Payroll integration via fintech Gusto; An e-commerce gateway through Visa-owned payment gateway Authorize.net; Real-time, same-day and scheduled payment options; Digital invoicing; and Omnichannel acceptance for in-store, online and mobile transactions. “We try to always bring that all together in as streamlined a way as possible,” Frerichs says. “Small business owners need time back.” Learn more about how the nation's biggest bank is tailoring solutions for SMBs in this episode of “The Buzz.”

Last week was a busy one for some Apple Store employees. Over the weekend, workers at Apple's Townson, Maryland store — the first Apple retail store to have a formally recognized union — voted to authorize a strike.
