Welcome back to another edition of the Sons of a Pitch: An American Soccer Podcast! Tonight, we put listener @eric_turner7 in the driver seat, answering his questions and discussing the latest news from around the league. With Atlanta United coming off an MLS Cup victory, undergoing a lot of roster changes, and matching up against Liga MX club Monterrey or Sporting KC in the 2nd round of the Concacaf Champions League, the odds are definitely against the Five Stripes making a deep run. Mike shares how Atlanta can learn from Toronto FC's run in 2018 and why they might be able to overcome the challenges that await. Next, Nick dives into the MLS Combine and SuperDraft, sharing different philosophies. FC Cincinnati, needing to fill a new MLS roster, traded to acquire draft picks, for a total of 7. They're building through the draft. Philadelphia Union, who traded 5 picks to FCC, needs the money to build through signings, while the Red Bulls and FC Dallas are known to build through their academies. In other player news, Mike breaks down how the LA Galaxy can get out of having 4 Designated Players on their roster (rules mandate no more than 3). While Gio dos Santos is the likely move, having grossly under-performed, the Galaxy could most easily move Romain Alessandrini, who has been the brightest star for the Galaxy over the last several seasons. Finally and after listening to an interview with GM Nelson Rodriguez, Nick goes on a rant against the Chicago Fire. Not only is Rodriguez a terrible interview, he offered no concrete plan for the future, no evidence of future signings, and supports a coach who players have been fleeing from. Mike breaks down the current Fire roster and isn't optimistic either. With only weeks to go before training camp, Chicago only has 4 defenders and 2 goalkeepers on their roster - and neither GK should be starting in the MLS. Keep your eyes open for more underwhelming moves by the Fire.   Thanks again for listening, be sure to follow us on twitter @SOPSoccer, and let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

We’ve got your Orlando CIty-New England Revolution breakdown, such as it is, and our Man of the Match picks. We also discussed the news about Sydney Leroux’s summer illness that she announced on social media on Monday and both of us have been through similar experiences so we know how difficult things have been for her and husband Dom Dwyer in recent weeks. The first PawedCast of 2018 is here and it’s so jam packed we didn’t even have time to wish each other — or you — a happy new year. Since we last released the PawedCast, Orlando City has signed seven players and re-signed one, the Pride re-signed Dani Weatherholt, the Cyle Larin transfer saga has spun out of control, the preseason and regular season schedules have dropped, OCB has taken a hiatus, the club moved its academy, and the SheBelieves Cup is coming. And other stuff, but those are the biggies. We talk about all of that and still give you the bonus of our interview with Orlando City General Manager Niki Budalic just as the MLS Combine is ending and the SuperDraft is about to happen in Philly. Niki was kind enough to spend some of his valuable pre-draft time with us talking about the SuperDraft, the Combine, Sacha Kljestan, Josué Colmán, and more.  We also spoke about the NWSL, the Pride’s off-season needs — including the status of unsigned players. And we answered listener questions in our mailbag. If there’s something you want us to address on our next show, tweet it to us @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. Here’s your map to the sprawl of Episode No. 112: 0:12- The Lions have put together an incredible string of business since we last talked and we address every one of them. Plus, Kaká’s retirement, and the three-ring Larin circus in Turkey. 48:08- Niki Budalic returns to the PawedCast to answer our SuperDraft, MLS Combine, and player transfer questions, including some interesting nuggets like how some green cards are coming that will free up some international slots. 1:03:45- Women’s soccer, starting with the Pride, but also touching on some amazing NWSL trades, plus the SheBelieves Cup is coming! NYCFC Nation Podcast | New York City FC | NYC Football Club | MLS | Soccer | Futbol

Welcome to the first episode in 2017 of The NYCFC Nation Podcast! The usual crew is in house today along with special guest Nick Roloson. NYCFC109 Show link: http://thenycfcnation.com/2017/01/the-good-the-bad-and-the-eh/ After our initial discussion on what was the worst thing we've done to watch a soccer match we dig right into the announcement that RJ Allen and Thomas McNamara were given new contracts. NYCFC also loaned out Jefferson Mena over to Ecuadorian club Barcelona FC and have recently loaned in Miguel Camargo. Conner Brandt was also seen with fellow NYC players in social media and we speculate on what that could mean. How freaked out are we really that New York City FC hasn't spent money on improving the roster compared to the rest of the MLS League? We then move into the recent MLS Combine and some players that could be targeted by New York City FC. Is it at all possible that NYC trades up for a first round draft pick? Towards the end we play a game called The Good, The Bad and The Eh in regards to City Football Group's international scouting system for NYCFC. We finally wrap up talking about NASL, USL and the Fifa World Cup. Don't forget to give us a 5 star rating and review to help other New York City FC fans find the podcast. Guess who’s back? After a few weeks to recharge their batteries over the holidays, Andrew and David sit down in the aquarium to try to wrap their heads around everything that’s happened in MLS as clubs prepare for the MLS Combine and SuperDraft. Hint: It’s an awful lot.   First up, Minnesota United FC got Batman (Miguel Ibarra) and Superman (Christian Ramirez) back together as the attack begins to take shape. San Jose, meanwhile, finally has a general manager, but you probably won’t recognize his name. Yeah, but what about Designated Players, you say? Sporting KC and Crew SC snagged one apiece and it looks like Real Salt Lake are on the brink of signing a European No. 10 as well. And that’s just the beginning, because Houston appears to be killing it, Fabian Castillo’s fate is in the balance, the Fire are making moves, Seattle are reloading and plenty more is floating around as the transfer window opens.   In the second segment, it’s all Combine, SuperDraft and Bruce Arena’s first-ever (well, this time, anyway) US national team camp. David gives his take on the crop of Generation adidas and college senior signings, and points out the possible difference makers who’ll hope to impress teams in Los Angeles. Then the guys break down the 32-player squad called in by Arena in the lead up to the first national team games of 2017. Snubs? Not many, but that’s because there are some many interesting names among the all-MLS group.   Mailbag provides a platform to congratulate Mike Magee for a brilliant career, dissect Bob Bradley’s brief EPL tenure and identify the quietest team in the player market so far this offseason.

In the final episode before the MLS SuperDraft, Andrew and David check in with Doyle, who is down in Ft. Lauderdale at the MLS Combine, to see who has been flying up (and down) draft boards, what the Fire will do about the No. 1 pick and whether this draft class is stronger than the previous editions. After a quick break, the guys chat with the man most likely to be taken first overall, Georgetown defender Joshua Yaro. What made him finally decide to go pro and sign with MLS? Yaro may have to deal with the likes of Yura Movisisyan in MLS as it appears the Armenian striker is close to becoming the goalscorer Real Salt Lake have been searching for. Plus, is Tim Sebastian the Matt Miazga backup plan? And does Sporting KC already have a center forward option in their squad to cover Dom Dwyer? In the mailbag, the guys talk Ballon d’O and help settle some simmering family feuds.

Soccer, news, transfers, and fashion – Thursday’s show has it all. First, the guys dig into the youthful USA roster called in for January camp by Jurgen Klinsmann. Which U23 prospect or senior hopeful has Andrew most excited? Which Crew SC neophytes does David see shining the brightest? In the second segment, news and fashion are combined. MLS dropped the 2016 schedule with two editions of Heineken Rivalry Week and plenty of national television games, so start planning those road trips and tailgates. One team that isn't on the schedule but is making waves is LAFC via Thursday morning’s crest reveal. Andrew and David drool over potential swag (shouldn’t they be giving that away!), then Bobby Warshaw calls in to walk you through the MLS Combine experience from a player's point of view – nerves, roommates, job interviews and more. In the mailbag, a Columbus fan challenges the current “Gas Man,” and Chicago Fire faithful change their tune about Didier Drogba and Jermaine Jones.

Goal.com’s Ives Galarcep checks in to give the lowdown on the 2016 Generation adidas class, Jordan Morris and Dax McCarty.
