As Christians, we want to be formed by wisdom. Biblically, we know that wisdom comes with age, but we live in a culture obsessed with youth rather than one formed by gospel truth. I'm of the age that I have friends turning both 30 and 40, and for so many women, those milestones are greeted with grief.Creams and fillers to disguise our age are in our social media feeds constantly. When you open the comment sections on so many things, the term “Okay, Boomer” has revealed how far we've moved culturally from respect of elders to derision of them. Most of us know Jen from her Bible studies, but recently she wrote an article for Christianity Today "At My Mother's Deathbed, I Discovered the Symmetry of a Long Life" about what it was like caring for her mother as she aged and eventually passed. I would love for us to take a look together at what a “Legacy of Faith” looks like when caring for elderly parents. What was it like moving into the stage of life caring for your parents? You've talked about the arc of life and the way it reflects Biblical literature. Can you tell us about that? How has watching your parents and older saints helped give you a path to exit a current season with grace and submission to the passing of time?Being in midlife, you said you noticed that you repeat so many of the same life experiences, but level up the quality in how you handle them… Can you tell us about that? How have you noticed the gaining of wisdom and shift in the internal life as we age? What did you learn about cherishing all of your days in this process? What does it look like to find value in older women, and not just to see them as having equal value, but rather increasing value? You can find Jen Wilkin's latest Bible study on "Revelation" here. Indian family businesses contribute more than two-thirds to India's GDP. 70 per cent. That's amongst the highest in the world. And that number is expected to go up to as much as 85 per cent in the next 20 years. Yet, today a lot of these companies are at a crossroads. You see, many of them have realised that they can't just carry on as they always have. Business as usual isn't going to work anymore. Think of brands like Medimix, or Baidyanath syrups. Iconic names for sure, but they are increasingly being bracketed as “parent's brands”.The next gen leaders of these companies have recognised this. They've realised that to have a shot at winning they are going to have to break off on their own. That too in a world that looks very different from when their family businesses were first founded. Tune in. Daybreak is produced from the newsroom of The Ken, India's first subscriber-only business news platform. Subscribe for more exclusive, deeply-reported, and analytical business stories.

Confession 119: “I think it's scammy. I think it's dangerous. And I'm saddened that many women are being lied to about these products.” Have you seen those ads on social media for menopause or perimenopause supplements and creams that claim that they will fix all your woes? None of these products have a shred of proof behind their dramatic claims, and many of them are backed by huge celebrities promoting them like they're a godsend for women. The sad thing to me is that, ultimately, they're spreading misinformation. Today, I'm talking all about these scammy topical face creams, from those promoting the fact that they have estrogen in them to wild yam creams and those that are over the counter while exposing women to prescription-strength progesterone. As a consumer, be cautious, seek medical advice, and opt for evidence-based skincare and nutritional products. As always, if you feel like you're being gaslit by the medical community, keep searching because there are doctors like me out there who want to help you feel better. Enjoy the episode! Highlights Deceptive marketing tactics used by companies promoting menopausal and perimenopausal supplements Potential dangers associated with the use of these products What you need to know about estriol The confusing meaning behind the term “research-backed” Why wild yam creams are one of the biggest scams in women's health What research tells us about the effectiveness of topical progesterone creams The hidden dangers of using over-the-counter progesterone creams marketed as moisturizers Calling out the predatory tactics used by these companies What you can safely do to feel better and look better Episode Resources: Dr. Shawn Tassone's Practice | https://www.drshawntassone.com Dr. Shawn Tassone's Book | The Hormone Balance Bible Dr. Shawn Tassone's Integrative Hormonal Mapping System | Hormone Archetype Quiz Thank you to our sponsor, Endurance Products Company! During the last decades of confusion about menopausal hormone therapy, many well-meaning solutions were offered to patients claiming to be safer than the feared traditional HRT. These include combinations of estrogens, progesterone and testosterone in the form of topical creams and sublingual preparations. Now that we are emerging from this fog of confusion, and understand that estradiol, progesterone and testosterone are not only safe, but also provide numerous health benefits for women, it's important to reevaluate whether compounded estrogen products still have a place. Today I'm discussing the different types of estrogen that are available in compounded form, why progesterone cream is not a safe solution for patients who have a uterus, and why at the current time we need to rely on testosterone in compounded form, and how to ensure that we're getting the safe and most beneficial dose.

Daily Halacha Podcast - Daily Halacha By Rabbi Eli J. Mansour
One of the prohibitions that apply on Tisha B'Ab is "Sicha," which means rubbing oil on one's skin. The modern-day application of this Halacha is the use of skin creams, which is meant to make one's skin feel smoother and more comfortable. The use of skin creams is forbidden on Tisha B'Ab, as it violates the prohibition of "Sicha." However, Hacham Ben Sion Abba Shaul (Israel, 1923-1998) ruled that one may use cream to treat infected, chapped or scraped skin. In such a case, the cream is applied not for pleasure, but rather to cure damaged skin, and treatment of this kind does not fall under the prohibition of "Sicha." It is forbidden to apply perfume on Tisha B'Ab, and it is also forbidden to smell perfume. In light of this Halacha, Hacham Ovadia Yosef was asked about the permissibility of using deodorant on Tisha B'Ab, which might appear to fall under the same category as perfume. However, Hacham Ovadia ruled that one may apply deodorant on Tisha B'Ab, for two reasons. Firstly, deodorant is used not for pleasure, but rather to eliminate odor, which is entirely permissible on Tisha B'Ab. Secondly, we must take into account the consideration of "Derech Eretz," basic dignity and refined conduct. It would certainly be unbecoming to walk around on Tisha B'Ab without applying deodorant, and this is another reason why it is permissible. This applies to both spray and stick deodorants. (Incidentally, it should be noted that stick deodorants may not be used on Shabbat, as by using a stick one changes the substance from one form to another. Thus, although spray deodorants are certainly permissible on Shabbat, one should not use a stick deodorant on Shabbat.) Summary: It is forbidden to apply skin cream on Tisha B'Ab, except for the purpose of healing chapped, infected or scraped skin. Deodorant may be used on Tisha B'Ab, but perfume is forbidden.

Have you ever wondered why you don't hear much about thyroid hormone cream? Why is it that all other hormones exist in cream form including progesterone, testosterone, and estrogen? There really isn't a good reason because the truth is, thyroid hormone cream is probably the single best way to take thyroid medication. It just so happens that not all thyroid hormones are available in cream form... at least not yet. Here are 5 reasons that thyroid hormone creams beat out capsules and tablets: 1. Topical benefits where they are applied. Some studies suggest that topical thyroid hormone application may help regrow hair and help with wound healing. 2. More freedom in when and how you take it. If you take thyroid hormone in cream form then it can be taken at any time of the day and with any type of food. 3. Better bioavailability and absorption. Creams are roughly 2 to 2.5x stronger than oral versions of the exact same hormone. 4. Fewer side effects. Lower doses required mean fewer symptoms, especially heart palpitations. 5. Better symptom control. If your thyroid hormone is more effective then it will result in better symptom control. Right now, the only thyroid hormone available in cream form is T2 Cream which can be found here: https://www.restartmed.com/product/t2-cream/ But if we can show the pharmaceutical companies that there is interest in thyroid hormone creams more generally, then they will be more likely to start creating T4 and T3 creams.
