She disclosed that he's been loud and disruptive in the office since she confronted his lewd behavior. We also discuss White people using the phrase: "are you behaving yourself" in the the workplace. The first week of May brought ongoing confusion for non-white and White workers about President Donald Trump's new tariffs and the ongoing cuts of federal jobs. Gus strongly suggests that non-white people avoid discussing politics in the workplace. If this subject matters is brought up by your co-workers (White or non-white), Gus recommends Mr. Neely Fuller Jr.'s strategy of Compensatory Conversation Control. Move the dialog back to discuss your actual workplace duties. The C.O.W.S.'s own "Bay Area Mom" gave us a live demonstration of this technique. Apparently, her fellow educators think the elementary school house is the correct environment to grouse about our current president. When they attempt to engage our attempted counter-racist educator in anti-Trump banter, she redirects the conversation back to helping the children, which is a teacher's most important job. At least one report indicated White coworkers disparaged a black couple for going out to enjoy a "lunch date." This sort of unprovoked, vindictive Racism is widespread on the job. It's as though Racists hate seeing non-white people attempt to be constructive and affectionate with other non-white people (all their hard work for nothing). AND Racist love to gossip and pry into all the details of their non-white coworkers' lives. A brief visit from a care mate can provide the perfect opportunity for your White colleagues to pepper your partner 20 (or 200) questions. President Trump continues to confuse and terrorize workers across the landscape with more firings and disruptions of the federal workforce. Neely Fuller Jr. reminds us that people can be driven insane by keeping them confused and anxious. One of those terminated was Marc Bamuthi Joseph, who lost his high ranking position as vice president and artistic director of Social Impact at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Gus wishes the best for Mr. Joseph, privileged black male. But this is an important lesson for Victims of Racism. Any non-white person can be fired at any time, even if we perform our jobs well. It's humiliating, traumatizing and confusing to be fired from a job you enjoy and worked hard to obtain. However, this is not a meritocracy. Clothing sends a message in the workplace. We'll also discuss the distress signal from a group of South African scientists studying in the frigid regions of the Antarctic. Apparently, one of the workers threatened to kill a colleague, and S. African officials confirmed that one of the team members was assaulted. During last week's broadcast, "Victim in New Jersey" informed us that a privileged black male on his job had been terminated. Unfortunately, this Victim has a documented history of volatile conduct and conflict with other coworkers. Since being terminated, this black male began loitering in the employee parking area for days. C.O.W.S. listeners were asked for the most constructive course of action. Gus T. would generally contact local enforcement officials as well as company security and human resources if a disgruntled ex-employee continued to trespass on company property. However, those interested in offering resources and sympathy to a Victim of Racism should think of the safest way to do so, while encouraging this male to stop trespassing. This week, we heard more examples of black people being called a niggra while at work. Again, it is imperative that all Victims of White Supremacy develop and adhere to their code about responding to Racist insults. Speaking of "painfully familiar," we hear more reports of black males being falsely accused of workplace theft and our young vegan scholar "Z" was tormented by a White classmate after her academic brilliance earned her a national prize. The first time a student in this geographic area won such an honor. The RacistChild who had been taunting "Z" won the most recent competition and had the local newspaper announce that he was the first child in the region to ever win this prize. Gus suspects this may all have been a masterfully crafted lie that was a full year in the making. They continue to face boycotts in response to their reversal on previous commitments to #DEI initiatives. In California, non-white "immigrant" workers are being called on to do the heavy and toxic work of cleaning up the charred remains from the California wildfires. Groups of these non-white people allegedly receive training on the best practices to remain safe while clearing burned ruins. This week, NBC News' Curtis Bunn reported' that a so called "black middle class" developed because "the federal government provided both reliable jobs and guardrails to offset systemic racial bias in hiring and promotions, offering an alternative for Black workers who might be overlooked or ignored in the private sector." A tragic aviation collision resulted in 67 deaths when an army helicopter collided with an American Airlines passenger flight which plunged both aircraft into the frigid Potomac River. Before the victims could be identified or fully retrieved, our new president blamed the horrific incident on failed "DEI" policies and the antics of our former president. This week, Trump held a spicy press conference where he insisted that air traffic control is a demanding job that requires "geniuses," not unqualified lamebrains who are signed on to fill quotas and diversity objectives. President Trump lamented the Federal Aviation Administration's work to hire people with disabilities, and, without evidence, suggested these hiring goals contributed to the crash. We also hear how black entrepreneurs are impacted by the calls to boycott Target department stores in the wake of the corporation's decisions to renege their "DEI" commitments. Numerous non-white workers throughout the region lost their residence and/or their job because of the blazes or have had their health impacted by having to work in the midst of apocalyptic air pollution. And here in Gus T.'s Seattle, Washington state, King County Metro Workers honored non-white operator Shawn Yim who was stabbed to death by a White passenger earlier this year. Metro Transit operators, many of whom are classified as non-white, rallied to address the lack of safety for King County employees. According to reporting by Seattle's KING5 News, Yim allegedly exited the bus to confront his suspected killer who had pepper sprayed him before exiting the vehicle. We heard from a non-white employee who skipped a retirement ceremony for a departing White colleague. Because of his passive aggressive behavior towards her, she concluded that her immediate White supervisor was dissatisfied with her absence. We revisit the logic and consequences regarding attending or avoiding workplace parties that may be after hours (and with alcoholic beverages). This week, The Wall Street Journal reported that a new problem facing employees is a growing number of "fake candidates." In this context, "fake" means workers who present impressive résumés and complete competent Zoom interviews, yet lack the rudimentary skills of the job. WSJ did not provide information on the racial classification of the deceptive candidates. However, it's a common Racist cliché that black and non-white employees have to be overqualified to be hired - and sometimes, being overqualified is used as justification for not hiring black people. Gus doubts that hoards of black applicants with phony credentials are being hired to goldbrick and scam their new White employers. We also hear from a number of non-white people where sexual activity amongst coworkers is being encouraged or sought out. Generally, "dating" on the job does not result in promotions, raises or an increase in correct activity and "good feeling" amongst colleagues. Hip-hop great Flavor Flav heard the tales of financial woe and sponsored the Women's Water Polo squad, and NPR discussed how some athletes who score a medal are required to pay hefty taxes on their winnings. Getting a gold might not be mean "easy living" for the rest of your days. We'll also discuss black entrepreneurs in Ferguson, Missouri. It's been a decade since Michael Brown Jr. was killed and left in the street, many businesses are still struggling to rebuild and repair following the months of tumult after Brown's murder. Trump spoke with the National Association of Black Journalists about his presidential ambitions and concerns for black people. During the course of the discussion, he emphasized his campaign talking point that illegal non-white immigrants are taking "black jobs." Black female journalist Rachel Scott, who was widely rebuked as rude and "discourteous" for her questioning of Trump, asked for clarification of the phrase "black jobs." Trump replied: "Anybody that has a job." #NotLogicalProbablyRacist The former president concluded his forty minute exchange by reminding black viewers: "These people are taking your jobs." She said White officers made lewd sexual remarks about her body and charged that the black females were hired as a form of Racial Showcasing to make the department appear to be not racist and "progressive." 23-year-old Amya Brooks charges that White officers told her black females had "bad reputations" and were "untrustworthy." Ms. Brooks' lawsuit is pending, but Gus T. hopes she took extensive notes to document every tacky remark and instance of mistreatment. Buckets of fried chicken decorated the events and members of the Democratic party were cruelly mimicked. 2 years later, Jones received $75,000 in compensation now, and will get another $75,000 in 4 years upon his retirement. A C.O.W.S. investor informed Gus about a Florida teacher who might lose her teaching license as a result of wearing a face mask with a "black lives matter" slogan. For years, Gus T. has vigorously discouraged wearing any sort of paraphernalia or clothing branded with political messaging. It's a presidential election year, so expect an abundance of rhetoric and verbal sparring over candidates. Do not participate in these conversations on the job. Even if all of your co-workers are classified as black, it's not logical to assume that all of your black colleagues support "black lives matter" or any other political ideology or slogan. Your clothing/attire should not attract unnecessary attention or distract from your primary workplace objective: making as much money as possible while learning everything that is constructive. Also relating to clothing in the workplace, hours before this segment aired live, a White Man shot 14 people in Fordyce, Arkansas - a town of just over 3,000. 3 people were killed. Gus T. rose at 7am Pacific Daylight Time this Friday morning to catch Cornell University's "Heroes and Hoteliers" presentation with black male scholars Calvin Stovall and Victor Younger. They discussed the fascinating history of black hotel owners and innovators - which even included black female entrepreneur Rebecca Howard right in here in Gus's Washington state. During the dialog, the black scholars disclosed that people classified as black constitute over 17% of the hospitality industry. However, black people represent 0.7% of the CEO positions in the hotel industry. #YIKES A whopping 2% of US hotels are owned by black people.
