The C.O.W.S. welcomes Admitted Racist Dr. Kylie Smith live from Australia. Classified as a White Woman, Dr. Smith “is an Associate Professor, tenured, and the Andrew W. Mellon Faculty Fellow for Nursing and the Humanities and Associate Faculty in the Department of History at Emory.” “She teaches courses on the history of race in health care, critical theory, and nursing theory and philosophy.” We'll discuss her 2026 publication, Jim Crow in the Asylum: Psychiatry and Civil Rights in the American South. This book examines how mental health facilities in so-called southern US states rigidly maintained and refined the System of White Supremacy. Dr. Smith highlights that the foundation of mental health facilities was about the maintenance of White Supremacy - which often means the confinement of black people. She reiterates what Dr. Welsing told us, White people do not think mental health remedies are for black people. We learn that Racists felt the best therapy for dark people was a good beating, and/or a hard day's work like back on the plantation. The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the debut study session on the late Dr. Colin Anthony Beckles' PanAfrican Sites of Resistance: Black Bookstores and The Struggle To Re-Present Black Identity. This 1995 dissertation is the first time in the illustrious 14 year history of The Katherine Massey Book Club that we will read a non-book. Dr. Beckles conducted an extraordinary amount of research and produced several reports documenting the import of black bookstores and the intense Racism targeting them. Having just completed Char Adams' Black-Owned: The Revolutionary Life of the Black Bookstore, Gus concluded the text willfully excluded Dr. Frances Cress Welsing and Neely Fuller Jr. to stress anti-sexual behavior and to practice black misandry. Reading Dr. Beckles' - who is briefly mentioned in Adams' work, dissertation is the corrective to Black-Owned. Sadly, our narrator made Gus aware that Dr. Beckles died from a reported suicide in 1999 at the age of 34. He says there's a large number of young people in greater Chicago area who are not in school or work. A hefty chunk of these folks are classified as black males. We'll also review the case of former Morgan County jailer Jarvis Moore. This privileged black male is accused of stealing honey buns from inmates. Mr. Moore says he's diabetic - which is not hard to believe for people classified as black in the western hemisphere. He's facing 7 felony charges - for seven honey buns. We also heard from our own 'Tumblin' Dice,' who was accused of looting traffic cones from an adjacent construction site. Published at the end of 2025, Adams' new book made a number of lists for top books of the year. Touted as an "award-winning journalist, editor, and storyteller for NBC News, known for her work on race, identity, and inequitable systems," Adams is a lovely black female, Victim of Racism. Specifically, Adams investigates how black people have responded to the System of White Supremacy through the lens of bookstore ownership. C.O.W.S.'s listeners should know that White Supremacists have invested immense time and energy to ensure that black people do not read or have access to books. Last week, we learned about how the 2000's signaled massive challenges for black bookstores with more competition from online and large bookstore chains. Then, the financial downturn of 2008 devastated many White and non-white bookstore owners. Karibu Books and Eso Won Books both eventually closed. But, the Sankofa Video Books & Café was able to fight off their $30,000 tax debt, and remains in business today. Adams says that many black bookstore saw a boon during the Racial protests of 2010s - such the police shootings of Michael Brown Jr., Eric Garner, & Rekia Boyd as well as the 2012 murder of Trayvon Martin. This book concludes with a massive emphasis on Anti-Sex/LGBTQ activities. RuPaul and George M. Johnson's 'All Boys Aren't Blue,' - which is a so-called manifesto about being a "queer" black person, are celebrated. Adams documents some of the responses to the murders of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery, which included a rash of buying books related to Racism and new book clubs. Interestingly, all of the new reading groups mentioned were formed by and for black females. Yet, disgruntled black employees rarely become violent with the White managers and supervisors who fire us. In Mukwonago, Wisconsin, 38-year-old Lenard Hale, black male, was charged with attempted homicide in a vehicular hit-and-run. It's reported that Hale was recently terminated from his job at Aptar. He's accused of stalking his former coworker and striking him with his vehicle. Classified as not White, Thomas is a professor of pedagogy specializing in critical pedagogy and multicultural education at the University of South-Eastern Norway. He migrated to Norway from Somalia and began driving a cab before matriculating to college and becoming a university professor. We'll discuss his latest book, Too Black to Be Here?: Exploring Racism in Norway through Four Critical Case Studies. He examines the 2011 White Terrorist attack of Anders Breivick and the 2001 Racist murder of 16-year-old Benjamin Hermansen by a gang of White youth. The text mentions many of the typical names that White people allow us to use when discussing Racism: Noel Ignatiev, Dr. Peggy McIntosh, Dr. Charles W. Mills, Dr. Joe Feagin and Ta-Nehisi Coates to name a few. Gus has found that White people promote these scholars as being "acceptable," even though they frequently assert incorrect or illogical thinking about the System of White Supremacy. Such as suggesting that non-white people are “invisible,” White Supremacy being the result of “ignorant” or “unconscious” White behavior, and/or that not all White people are Racist. Gus T. noted that this is exactly 17 years to the February 2009 police shooting of Travis the Chimp. A Connecticut White Woman had her face ripped off by the monkey which prompted the fatal police shooting. The New York Post subsequently published a cartoon where the White officers suggested the dead chimp was the newly elected President Obama. In the nearly 20 years between these incidents, White employees of Google were forced to apologize for displaying images of chimps when users search for Michelle Obama. C.O.W.S. listeners should know that White Supremacists have invested immense time and energy to ensure that black people do not read or have access to books. Last week, we learned about Eso Won Books in Los Angeles and Karibu Books in Maryland. Adams explained the lull in black bookstores following the 1970's and the end of the so-called Civil Rights Era. Fictional romance novels, the Oprah Winfrey Book Club, and a new generation of mostly black female authors such as Terry McMillan, Sister Souljah, bell hooks, Iyanla Vanzant, Dr. Shahrazad Ali, and E. Lynn Harris (black dude), sparked a resurgence of black literature at the close of the 20th century. Most of these books minimized focus on the System of White Supremacy and instead centered on sexual activity and "gender wars." The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Shana McCalla live from Canada. Classified as a black female, Ms. McCalla advocates with FIND ONTARIO MISSING BOYS (http://FindOntarioMissingBoys.ca). The group provides resources and support for missing black boys and youth. Ms. McCalla has been central for more than year in bringing attention to and working on behalf of numerous black families who have suffered through their black sons being lured far from their residence to sell drugs in rural areas of Canada. We'll ask how these boys are being targeted and why the police failed to nab the people most to blame for stealing and corrupting these boys. It seems that a sophisticated community of White people operates this child smuggling project, and they've thus far been immune to prosecution. Interestingly, a highly refined component of this child trafficking tragedy is that some of the black boys are forced to sell drugs to non-white people on "reservations." Classified as a White Woman, Dr. Blaesing is “the Director of Community Well-Being” at San Francisco's The Hamlin School. “She is passionate about the inextricable link between holistic health and both anti-bias and anti-racism tenets and understandings,” and just finished “completing her Doctorate in Anti-Racist Policy and Leadership at American University.” Gus T. recently located her 2025 dissertation for said doctorate, No One Questions My Presence Here: White Women in Higher Education. The report cites a number of former C.O.W.S. guests - including Dr. Joe Feagin, Dr. Charles W. Mills, and Dr. Frank Wilderson to name a few. Ostensibly, Dr. Blaesing examines how she and other White Women maintain and refine the System of White Supremacy. However, her works greatly minimizes White Women's central culpability in pipelining black boys to greater confinement. Her work neglects to address if White people are going to voluntarily desist with the practice of White Supremacy. She also suggests that White people feel “guilty” about mistreating black people. Where is the evidence? We'll ask how White Women satisfy their “sadomasochistic” desires while failing black students. Importantly, Dr. Blaesing tried to suggest that Gus T. tricked her into a conversation under false pretenses. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Kellen Hoxworth. Classified as a White Man, Dr. Hoxworth is an “Assistant Professor of Theatre at the University of Buffalo, State University of New York. His academic interests focus on the intersections between performance, race, and coloniality, particularly in African and Black diasporic performance.” During our recent discussing with Dr. Chad Montrie, he told us that while researching Racially Restricted Regions of Minnesota he was inundated with blackface and minstrel show images. Dr. Montrie said, “They were everywhere.” At the schools, in the libraries, at the political meetings. All areas of people activity. The ubiquitous nature of these images motivated him to write a book on the subject and spurred Gus research other material on these racial performances. I soon located, Dr. Hoxworth's Transoceanic Blackface: Empire, Race, Performance. This 2024 publication asserts that minstrels shows are not a uniquely “american” form of entertainment. Rather, blackface and minstrel show performances where a crucial component of a global White Culture. People classified as White in every region of the globe partook in the humor and domination of the minstrel show. While nurses in the US started the new year with strikes for better work conditions, a black female nurse in he United Kingdom, Jennifer Melle, concluded a horrendous ordeal after being accused of "misgendering" a White Race Soldier and alleged child rapist. Employed at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, Nurse Melle reportedly called a White patient "Mr" and "he." The Racist demanded that Nurse Melle address them as a female. She informed her patient that her religious beliefs forbid her from identifying them as female. The Racist began spewing Racist slurs and threatening Nurse Melle, who was later charged with "misgendering" this volatile Racist. When people beyond the hospital became aware of this conflict, Melle was accused of breaching confidentiality and sharing private information about the White patient. Although this happened across the pond, this harrowing workplace experience offers many lessons for Victims of Racism. around the globe. And one of our listeners provides a tacky illustration of why we should always refrain from accepting food from coworkers (or strangers) while on the job. Much of his research examines area of law, politics, and economics within the System of White Supremacy. Gus learned about Dr. Davis' work while studying Char Adams' fabulous new work Black-Owned: The Revolutionary Life of the Black Bookstore. A major point of emphasis is that White Supremacists have invested extraordinary time and energy for centuries to prohibit black people from reading and studying about Racism. Consequently, black bookstores were key targets of Racist counterintelligence programs and sabotage. Adams' book was directly inspired by a 2016 report from Davis, The FBI's War on Black-Owned Bookstores. Gus hoped to discuss Davis' 2020 publication, From Head Shops to Whole Foods: The Rise and Fall of Activist Entrepreneurs. This book as a while chapter discussing the obstacles and labor of black bookstore owners. Last week, Gus T. spoke with Dr. Emily Leib last week, and she told us that her White grandparents are Beaver County residents. Gus checked immediately, and, of course, Beaver County is a Racially Restricted Region of western Pennsylvania - which Dr. Leib seemed to already know. Upon further investigation, Gus found out that Racists purged a group of black people from this region in 1933. Mr. al-Amin, formerly known as H. Rap Brown, was 82-years-old and a vocal spokesperson against and Victim of the System of White Supremacy during the so-called Civil Rights Movement. Mr. al-Amin is often depicted wearing sunglasses and a leather jacket while announcing that "Violence is as American as cherry (pumpkin) pie." Fletcher was 111-years-old and is credited with being the last living survivor of the 1921 Tulsa Oklahoma Terrorist attack. Also, professional golfer and (professional) Racist Suspect "Fuzzy" Zoeller reportedly died this week at the age of 74.
