The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly summit on Neutralizing Workplace Racism 10/23/25. Earlier this calendar year, Gus T. spoke about the horrifying death of Jennifer Harris - a black female mother of 6 children. Harris was a manager at a Michigan McDonald's, and was stabbed to death by her black female co-worker after Harris ended her alleged killer's shift early. Gus made a point of emphasizing that black people generally do no respond with counter-violence when people classified as White abuse and terminate us from employment. We save our homicidal rage and violence for the our black co-workers. Harris was killed back in July. Turns out in August, 32-year-old Ryan Johnson was killed by Taco Bell coworker in Ohio. This month, 21-year-old Jonathan Morris was arrested for August murder of Johnson. It's suspected that Morris responded with violence after being fired from slangin' tacos. #NoPoliticsOnTheJob INVEST in The COWS - http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: http://cash.app/$TheCOWS Call: 720.716.7300 Code: 564943#

Greg Jenner is joined by Professor Jonathan Morris and comedian Sophie Duker to learn all about the bittersweet history of coffee.Coffee is undoubtedly one of the most popular drinks worldwide, and we consume an estimated 95 million cups of the stuff everyday in the UK alone. But where does coffee come from, and when did we start enjoying its caffeinated effects? From its origins in medieval Ethiopia and Yemen, through the coffeehouses of the Middle East and Europe, to its central importance to soldiers during the American Civil War, this episode traces the complex history of our favourite beverage. Along the way, it explores the uses people have had for coffee over the years, in religious rituals, as a stimulant to intellectual exchange, and even as a medicine. We also debunk some of the myths that have been brewed up about coffee's history. Did the Pope really call it ‘the devil's brew'? Was it discovered by an Ethiopian goatherd? And did a Dutch man really have to smuggle coffee trees out of Yemen? Listen to find out! This is a radio edit of the original podcast episode. Next we look at the connections between some of the lost classic Doctor Who serials and a landfill in a New Mexico desert (audio segements came from ATARI: Game Over, a documentary made in 2014).  I reference some facts that The Tin-Dog Podcast's host Michael, has made in some of his past podcasts (I don't know which one, but I'm sure they exist). Once we hit the news, Liam shares his frustration with Disney and their lack of consideration towards Star Wars fans for what they'll be doing with the continuity established in the book series once episode VII comes out in December.  We discuss the news and future releases from Big Finish regarding Torchwood, Doom Coalistion, The Worlds of Big Finish (extreme crossover release) and it's potiential marketing sceme.  When we get to the reviews we first finish discussing The Two Doctors classic story, focusing on audio only, but my explaining of what happened visually to add clarification to the story.  Next we discuss the Big Finish releases: The Defectors - by Nick Briggs; Last of the Cybermen - by Alan Barnes; Death Match - by Matt Fitton; Suburban Hell - by Alan Barnes; The Well-Mannered War - by Gareth Roberts, adapted by John Dorney; Damaged Goods - by Russell T. During the review of Damaged Goods we get into the a second discussion/debate on Doctor Who "Cannon" or what is and what is not cannon, and then back to Star Wars cannon and not cannon.  I make a reference to @DoctorSquee's Gallifrey Stands Podcast interview with Paul Cornell. If you're a fan of delicious disputes over food, wild medical treatments from centuries past and murky historical myths, you'll love our episode on the history of coffee. If you want more from Sophie Duker, check out our episodes on Benedetta Carlini or the Chevalier de Saint-Georges. About the series: For 40 days, the army of Israel hid in fear of Goliath. Why did they hide? Why were they paralyzed by fear? Because they were an army of identity amnesiacs! They had forgotten WHO they were! This series will remind us WHO we are IN CHRIST.   About this week's message: Jesus crafted us in the womb, and we are uniquely designed and one of a kind. There is no one else like us, per His desire. Because each of us are made in the image of God, we have intrinsic value like no other!   Key Phrase: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14

What does the most-purchased beverage in the world — coffee — do to your brain? Five centuries after its discovery, coffee is deeply entrenched in our diets on a global scale. More than half the U.S. population drinks coffee daily. We wake up with coffee, and catch up with friends over coffee. Historically, coffee has been heralded as an inspiring muse. But many headlines have warned us about the adverse effects of coffee. Is there truth in the supposed risks, or can we keep sipping away without a worry?  In this episode of ‘Your Brain On...', we discuss: • What caffeine does to your brain, and why it makes you feel awake • How much coffee is too much, and how caffeine affects us all differently (depending on our metabolism) • The antioxidant benefits of coffee • How coffee can improve concentration, and even potentially protect against neurodegenerative diseases • How different kinds of coffee affect our brains differently (black vs. cream and sugar, brewed vs. filter, caffeinated vs. decaf) • The risks of caffeine addiction • A brief history of how coffee became so ubiquitous in our lives Bringing the buzz to this episode are two coffee geniuses: DR. ASTRID NEHLIG, a neuroscientist out of the French Institute of Health and Medical Research who has studied the health impacts of coffee with impressive extensiveness.  PROFESSOR JONATHAN MORRIS, AKA ‘The Coffee Historian', author of ‘Coffee: A Global History' and co-creator of the History of Coffee Podcast. ‘Your Brain On' is hosted by neurologists, scientists and public health advocates Ayesha and Dean Sherzai.  Drs. We answer the following questions about superpowers: Can superheroes be real people? (No.) Can real people become superheroes? (Maybe.) And which is better: flight or invisibility? (Depends who you ask.)  Host Ira Glass talks to comic artist Chris Ware, who thought about superheroes a lot of the time as a kid. He invented his own character and made a superhero costume, which he wore to school under his regular clothes. Which went fine until he realized he would have to change for gym class. (6 minutes)Act One: John Hodgman conducts an informal survey in which he asks the age-old question: Which is better: The power of flight or the power of invisibility? (14 minutes)Act Two: Kelly McEvers with the story of Zora, a self-made superhero. From the time she was five years old, Zora had recurring dreams in which she was a 6'5" warrior queen, who could fly and shoot lightning from her hands. She made a list, pages and pages long, of all the things she could accomplish to actually become that superhero: martial arts, evasive driving, bomb defusing. By the time she was 30, most of her list had been checked off. She was as close to a superhero as any mortal could hope to come. But her dream had changed. (17 minutes)Act Three: Ira talks with Jonathan Morris, the amazingly funny and charming editor of the website "Gone and Forgotten," an internet archive of failed comic book characters. Jonathan explains what makes a new superhero succeed, and what makes him tank. (9 minutes)Act Four: Of course you can't be a superhero without a supervillain trying to destroy you. And the most interesting supervillains, of course, are the ones who think that they're the real heroes, not the guys in the capes. Glynn Washington tells the story of Evil D.
