In today’s episode I go through how to create several income streams (1:1, classes, online, niche market package) so that you don’t get the ‘peaks and valleys’ of the new year and summer rush and the August and December deadness. Also I’ve included some of the other streams to consider as your business or personal brand grows. I also talked about starting a podcast, my secret for getting some top guests on my Brian Keane Podcast and my thoughts on Amazon Alexa/Google Home and the future of voice. I recorded this from my car to show how to do a podcast can be done with minimal equipment. Hello ladies and gentlemen! My name is Erik Andress and I want to welcome you to “How to Be a Grownup Presents: Terell Sumpter!” Rell has a tough background story that informs his inspiring message in powerful ways. Rell lost his mother at an early age. That heartbreak and anger around the loss lead him down a dark path. Losing himself to the streets and struggling with run ins with the law, Rell could have lead a life of hopelessness and heartache. Instead Rell chose to make his life an example of hope and redemption. Moving to Orlando Florida, Rell completed a Bachelor's degree, began volunteering with United Against Poverty Outreach, and started bringing his unique online motivational materials to begin to be an uplifting and authentic voice for young people the world over. Rell's show will take many different forms, but whatever he is bringing you this week, Rell is dedicated to helping to bolster the power that is waiting to be unleashed within you. So let's sit back, let's relax, listen to Rell Sumpter and let's get motivated! There were successes and failures along the way. While we gave advice and encouragement, we also found ourselves faced with discouragement and needing advice ourselves. That's where we came across advice that helped us see things with a new perspective. Listen in on how feedback from our audience helped us make a major format shift at the start of 2016.It wasn't just listening to our current audience that helped us out in those first seven months. We became avid fans and students of podcasters like Jared Easley, Jody Maberry, and Jeff Goins studying how they shared their uniqueness, structured, their shows, and applied what we learned to Beyond the Rut.A funny thing began to happen. We started following our own advice. It started with looking within our own circles of influence for our first interviews, and we found them with Davidson Young of The Leaders Foundry Podcast and Sara McDaniel of the blog titled Simply Sara. We got out of our comfort zones with those first two interviews placing our faith and trust in the insights of others. We're podcasters not photographers! One thing is for certain. Beyond the Rut today is different than when we started. Whatever you start today may not be where you are in six months if you're making forward progress and considering the feedback you're getting from the field.Podcast Audience GrowthOur audience has been growing from dozens of unique downloads per month to hundreds! It's still far short of where we want to be, and it is also a victory in ways. Here are some things we learned about podcast audience growth: Appreciate the audience you have now. Engage your audience by asking for feedback. Focus on providing valuable content to your audience. Meet new people through your current circles. Our biggest leaps in our podcast audience growth have come through the connections we already had in our lives.Resources and LinksBtR 027 - Just Take Action and Other Insights from Jody MaberryBtR 031 - Benjamin Hardy on Happiness, Reality, and Writing for YourselfBtR 032 - Cynthia Tripathi on Sparking Positive Momentum and Escamping AverageSecrets of a Great Podcast with Jeff Brown - The Jody Maberry Show (on iTunes)Do Over: Rescue Monday, Reinvent Your Work, and Never Get Stuck by Jon Acuff (Buy it on Amazon)Podcasting Good to Great: How to Grow Your Audience Through Collaboration by Jared Easley (Buy it on Amazon)Fuzzy's Taco Shop

Episode 093: Jon Acuff – Your Career Savings Account | Do Over This episode is brought to you by Mizzen+Main. My newest favorite shirts are Mizzen+Main. I work out every day and I enjoy the feel of my workout clothes. These shirts feel exactly like my workout gear does. The 4 way stretch fabric is like no other dress shirt I’ve ever felt before. Originally I purchased one shirt to try them out. When someone told me they would feel like my workout clothes, I didn’t believe them. Then I ordered one… After feeling the shirt and wearing it, I immediately purchased 6 more button down dress shirts and two Henley’s. They are my best looking, best fitting, and certainly the best feeling shirts I’ve ever worn. I promise you will agree after trying one on. A few Mizzen+Main shirts would make for a great gift for anyone who wears button down shirts. After you try 1 or 3 out, send me a tweet @RyanHawk12 to let me know your thoughts! When you go to check out, use the code “ryanhawk” for free overnight shipping or if you want to buy 3 shirts (which is what I do), use the code “ryanhawk3” and you will receive $50 off! Jon Acuff is a fantastic leader to follow for a number of reasons. A few of them are: His honesty – Jon will show you the great and the not so great parts about being an entrepreneur (author, speaker, etc…). He’s honest to a fault and it’s very interesting. He’s also very smart… When you listen to this episode, you’ll hear how Jon is a dynamic thinker. He’s analyzed many different angles to problems and solutions. His intelligence and brain power is evident. And finally, he’s very generous. Like most of the greatest leaders, he is a giver, both with his time and his advice. I’m very appreciative for all that Jon has done for me and so many others. Victim Mentality - When Bad Things Happen to Good PeopleIt's a fact of life. Bad things happen to good people. Bad things also happen to bad people. Bad things just happen. That fact of life does not matter as much as how we respond to it. The worse thing that can happen to any of us is to succumb to a victim mentality, wallowing in that event in a negative, unhealthy way. The victim mentality can prevent people from taking action towards their success. In many cases, it'll be the very thing that talks you out of making your own path before you ever get started. You've probably heard some of these signs of a victim mentality around you, maybe even spoken by you.I can't get hired in this economyThey replaced me with a machineSomeone took my jobThat boss was out to get meMen cheat! They all cheat! It's okay to grieve. It's not okay to stop living life. At some point, you need to make a choice to get out of the rut of a victim mentality. Do not become a victim to whatever has happened to you. Accept it, then conquer it by moving on with your life.In This EpisodeRay Edwards, author of Writing Riches, shared his story of Parkinson's on ReLaunch Show with Joel BoggessBrandon shares his story of stroke in 1997 and overcomingWe all have a choice to get back up and avoid the victim mentalityJerry shares getting fired and how he picked himself back up immediatelyYou have abilities and resourcesBethany Hamilton losing her arm to a shark, and now inspiring Jerry's daughterMichael J.
