This has been a long time coming for me and someone that I've admired as an investor for a very long time. There aren't many books about investing that remain relevant over 40 years after they were first published. Burton Malkiel's A Random Walk Down Wall Street, first published in 1973 and now in its twelfth edition, is one. Burton Malkiel, professor emeritus of economics at Princeton University and author of the seminal finance book “A Random Walk Down Wall Street,” told CNBC's “ETF Edge” that investors would be wise to “sit tight” and “stay the course” in light of the stock market's latest sell-off. Malkiel's book, now in its 12th edition, kickstarted the investing industry's foray into indexing, influencing top minds including Vanguard founder Jack Bogle, the creator of the index fund.

While these businesses contribute a great deal towards the sustainability of the economy, they end up overpaying taxes, more often than not. Some simply do not have the understanding of how the tax system works, and some seek help from amateur accountants, tax preparers, and even well-meaning Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) who do not provide the relevant proactive tax-related information to them. This leads to the loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars in overpaid taxes. The Valbrun Group, founded and led by Michel Valbrun, CPA helps businesses reduce their tax burden legally and ethically. What can the super wealthy teach us about having a secure financial future? The Thin Green Line: The Money Secrets of the Super Wealthy by Paul Sullivan. “Wealth Matters” columnist for The New York Times reveals the decisions, behaviors, and worldviews that lead to true wealth. For the better part of the past decade, Paul has written about and lived among some of the wealthiest people in America. He has learned how they save, spend, and invest their money; how they work and rest; how they use their wealth to give their children educational advantages, but not strip them of motivation. He has also seen how they make horrendous mistakes. Firsthand, Paul knows why some people, even “rich” people, never find true wealth, and why other people, even those who have far less, are far better off financially. His book shows how others can make better financial decisions—and come to terms with what money means to them. It lays out how to avoid the pitfalls around saving, spending, and giving money away and think differently about wealth to lead a more secure and less stressful life. An essential complement to all of the financial advice available, this “timely…smart” (Publishers Weekly) guide is a welcome antidote to the idea that wealth is a number on a bank statement. Buy low, sell high. It's a simple idea that a bored accountant used to create a multi-million dollar business, and one that he says you can replicate as a side-hustle. Ryan Grant graduated from college, pursed a career in accounting and quickly found himself wanting more in life. It started while in college, Ryan started shopping for sales in popular retail stores and buy items in bulk. But instead of purchasing what he liked, Ryan came armed with a secret weapon…an Amazon seller's account and his phone. Ryan would find sale items in Walmart, Target and Toys R Us, then used the Amazon seller app to compare them to online prices. Eventually In 2013 Ryan quit his full-time job paying over $50K per year to pursue making a full time income selling online. His business now does over 7-figures in sales per year and he sits down with the Marketplace to discuss just how he did it. After serving a total of four prison sentences for crimes ranging from burglary to armed robbery to drug dealing. Dave Dahl turned his life around during his last stint and rejoined the family bakery shortly after his release. He went on to co-create Dave's Killer Bread. Dave had to accept that—at least for Dave Dahl—there's no “happily ever after”. But he finds great satisfaction in “fighting the good fight”, one day at a time. He believes that forgiveness of self and others is one of the keys to inner peace and personal growth. But it's only one of many lessons he's come away with through all of his struggles—and triumphs. Dave's Killer Bread, a family endeavor, was sold to Flowers Foods in 2015, leaving Dave with a void to fill. He spent the next 2-plus years building what is perhaps the largest collection of African tribal art in the world. During this time he lived a semi-hermetic lifestyle. Now, with a healed heart and mind, he steps back out on a mission to help inspire others to find their own brand of success. “‘Good Seed' is much more than a killer bread recipe. Having been a ‘bad seed' and destroying everything in my path as a troubled young man, I finally found the path of humility and teachability. It gives me the courage to fall down 7 times, and get up 8.” Sponsor/Partnership Thrive Themes Blazingly fast WordPress templates and plugins, built to get more traffic, more subscribers, more clients and more customers for you.

Paul Jarrett Co-Founded Bulu, Inc. also known by the subscription box name Bulu Box in 2012 (now updated to a white label system). Paul was running in a marathon with his wife and as the volunteers were handing out sample products for them to use along the run, they later realized that there was an opportunity and a market for sending out health products and vitamins to others in a more curated process and collect essential data along the way. Paul's work experience spans the country. From NYC to San Francisco, he has launched million dollar brands such as Neebo and executed multi-facted campaigns for Lowe's and Nike so he understood what it meant to take this subscription box idea to market and quickly began to see success. It also helped that he was Vice President and Board Member of Complete Nutrition which also provided a little insight into the space. Kadee Malone, eldest daughter of Karl Malone. Karl is considered one of the greatest power forwards in NBA history. Playing college ball at Louisiana Tech University, Utah Jazz of course and LA Lakers. Kadee who is lovingly referred to as "the boss lady" talks about how she's built Legends Cigar lounge and brand with her dad. While he was collaborating with La Aurora on his personal cigar, it became clear that Karl wanted to create a place in his hometown where he and his friends and family could enjoy a smoke and fellowship. That eventually led them to open Legends Cigar and Vape in Ruston, Louisiana, where the family resides. Building the cigar lounge took three years, and provided an opportunity for his daughter, Kadee, to lead the construction and design effort. Kadee's vision was to create a rustic lounge with a spacious, yet cozy atmosphere that had plenty of places to smoke and talk. She incorporated sports memorabilia and family photos from Karl's career in basketball and also of the talented family's various sports accolades. The shop also celebrates the great state of Louisiana and their beloved hometown of Ruston. As a result of her input and the focused efforts Kadee made through the lounge design and development process, Karl trusted Kadee to take the lead and was ready to hand her the keys. Karl said, “I called her one morning and had her come to the store. I just said ‘Congratulations, you're the owner.'” Since then, Kadee has been the driving force behind expanding Legends' offerings – from cigars to vape, cigar related products, and now CBD.
