What is learning and what is the relationship between listening and learning? In a podcast with Nick Little, the headteacher of the International School of Aberdeen, we discuss learning and ‘paradigm change using the iCue framework. The iCue method is a framework for extracting intelligent cues(iCue) in a conversation with the view to listen, understand and improve the quality of decisions. After attending one of the iCue sessions, Nick offers his insights about the iCue method and how he believes that this approach can bring about a paradigm shift for learning and change.

Preparation is important. We very carefully do our advance research here at SVWAG, but occasionally mild errors do creep in. For this week, Mark studiously crafted notes and observations on such issues as four octave vocal ranges, Nickelodeon celebrity culture, and whether boredom of a third party constitutes necessary or sufficient conditions for breaking up with one's girlfriend. NB: "Language independent" can be a loaded term, and we confess we used it a tad sloppily in our discussion of Tribune. Latin is used throughout the game, and ain't nobody speaks Latin as their first language anymore, but nonetheless in hindsight we could have been more sensitive to those more familiar with non-Latin alphabets. Thus, we should say that the original Primus Inter Pares expansion and the new Spielworxx Tribune are language-independent but not alphabet-independent. I dare any game with an appropriate time period as a theme try to get away with cuneiform. In this podcast, I am joined by Nick Little, Head of School from the International School of Aberdeen. Together we explore what it means to create a learning organisation by drawing upon the example of schools. On the face of it, it should be obvious that schools are a learning organisation but as we delve deep into the topic, we will find out that this is not always the case. Part of the problem, as we discuss in this podcast, is the way in which staff performance is understood and measured in the schools which in turn undermines the ethos of learning and learning organisations. How do we change that? Find out more in this podcast.

The Center for Inquiry has filed a lawsuit against Walmart for deceiving its customers with marketing, labeling, and product placement that present homeopathic medicines as equivalent and effective alternatives to science-based medicines with tested active ingredients. The lawsuit argues that this is not only consumer fraud, but also endangers the health of the people who purchase homeopathic remedies thinking that they contain actual medicine. The suit against Walmarts comes just a few months after the Center for Inquiry filed a similar lawsuit against CVS for fraud over the sale of fake homeopathic drugs. In this episode of Point of Inquiry, Kavin Senapathy speaks with Nick Little, Center for Inquiry's legal director and general counsel, on the history of homeopathy and how it differs from other kinds of alternative medicines, and why CFI is bringing a suit against the nation's largest retailer. This is a new season of the backstory - this run of four has a particular theme - we are looking at people's jobs which involve doing good. This week we hear from Nick Little who set up a social enterprise company called the Outsiders with close friend Oz Osbourne. They quickly realised that in the world of social enterprise community work their high standards were tricky to maintain or were often undermined, but they stuck to their guns. They ran some amazing projects together including a human library where you could borrow people instead of books and have a chat with them for half an hour - the idea was to chose someone who totally challenged your prejudices - so they had categories like transgender, muslim and disabled. They also run the 12th man which is a project training barbers to be mental health first aiders, able to spot the warning signs among customers and point them in the right direction if they need help. But then this summer Oz died.Nick Little explains how hard it is to do good and how it is even harder when you suddenly lose your best friend and business partner.Help and support:the-outsiders.org.uk/about-us - Nick's social enterprise12th-man.org.uk - Nick'sSamaritans 116 123 (24 hours)www.mind.org.ukthecalmzone.netYou can support us with likes, shares and reviews.Music credits:Main theme:Title: NancyAuthor: Grimo (http://www.gosoundtrack.com/the-team/)Source: www.gosoundtrack.comLicense CC By 4.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)Incidental music:Title: Eternal HopeAuthor: Kevin MacLeodSource: incompetech.comLicensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/Title: Evening Fall HarpAuthor: Kevin MacLeodSource: incompetech.comLicensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/Title:Quiet Contemplation 18Author: Christian AndersenSource: Epidemic Sound Hosted on Acast.
