Ohio is now another state that has fallen victim to well-funded misinformation campaigns. Ohio's Issue 1 was passed by Ohio voters.   Despite almost a year of sacrificial efforts by thousands of volunteers to educate voters about the extreme nature of this amendment, unlimited and unrestricted abortion is now part of the Ohio constitution.   Created Equal managed to directly reach over 750,000 voters at doorsteps and by phone. In doing so, we had meaningful conversations with tens of thousands of voters and exposed the truth about the radical abortion industry. Millions of Americans have stopped going to church creating the biggest social shift in our lifetime. We'll look at the reasons Ohio's Issue 1 failed giving pro-life voters another defeat. And suicide rates in America are at levels not seen since the Great Depression.

This week, Ohio voters rejected a Republican-led measure that would have increased the threshold required to change the state's constitution. Significantly, more than three million voters turned out for the special election, which is about 75% of 2022 midterm turnout in the state. More than 640,000 people voted early — a number that could still rise from late-arriving mail ballots — outpacing overall turnout for a 2022 August special election in the state. The struggle over Issue 1 drew more than $35 million in spending, with most of the funding coming from out-of-state groups. The whole point of this process was to erect an impassable barrier in front of a looming constitutional amendment on the ballot in November 2023 that would enshrine reproductive rights protections into the state constitution. Issue 1 would have made it much harder for redistricting reformers to successfully present a constitutional amendment to voters, perhaps in 2024, to establish a new, independent redistricting system in Ohio, which Republicans would oppose. Nice to know that TFFG isn't a big fan of loyalty, as he shouldn't expect to see much more for the rest of his life. As I write this, Donald does not yet face the death penalty, but most of what he does face is not up for debate. The “independent state legislature” theory won't save him, nor will Bill Clinton's cat. Threats will get him nowhere; they might just make it worse. Clarence Thomas has had a great life, built upon an unearned lifestyle supplied through the largess of rich white men... On the other hand, perhaps Clarence earned every penny of it. Ohio's Issue 1 was all about abortion. Republicans fooled almost no one. Worse for them, even less people will be fooled the next time. Today's conversation focuses on a related topic that is daily making news in Ohio - Issue 1. Dr. Dan Skinner is Assistant Professor of Health Policy at Ohio University's Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, in the Department of Social Medicine, on the Dublin, Ohio campus. He earned his Ph.D. in political science from the City University of New York. Dr. Skinner teaches and researches about U.S health policy, and is active in health policy advocacy, especially in areas of health care access and health care reform for vulnerable and underserved populations. Listen in as Dr. Skinner gives us compassionate details of what Issue 1 involves and how it will effect families in the State of Ohio.
