IndyCar – Scott Dixon ties Mario Andretti with 52nd career IndyCar win Scott Dixon snapped a 22-race winless streak Sunday and moved into a tie with Mario Andretti for second on IndyCar’s career wins list when he held off pole sitter Colton Herta and Felix Rosenqvist in the series’ return to Canada. Dixon’s first win since May 2021 at Texas extends Dixon’s streak of winning at least one race in a record 18 consecutive years, and it leaves him trailing only A.J. Foyt’s 67 wins on the career list. USA Soccer – Alex Morgan has assumed a more vocal role for US women Alex Morgan and the U.S. women’s national soccer team are in Mexico preparing for a showdown with rival Canada on Monday night in the title game of the CONCACAF W Championship. But the winner of the final also earns one of the region’s berths at the 2024 Olympics in France. IndyCar – Scott Dixon ties Mario Andretti with 52nd career IndyCar win Scott Dixon snapped a 22-race winless streak Sunday and moved into a tie with Mario Andretti for second on IndyCar’s career wins list when he held off pole sitter Colton Herta and Felix Rosenqvist in the series’ return to Canada. Dixon’s first win since May 2021 at Texas extends Dixon’s streak of winning at least one race in a record 18 consecutive years, and it leaves him trailing only A.J. Foyt’s 67 wins on the career list. It also shoves Dixon into the thick of the points race as he chases a seventh title, which would match Foyt for the most in the history of the open-wheel series. USA Soccer – Alex Morgan has assumed a more vocal role for US women Alex Morgan and the U.S. women’s national soccer team are in Mexico preparing for a showdown with rival Canada on Monday night in the title game of the CONCACAF W Championship. The United States and Canada have already qualified for next summer’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand as top finishers at the tournament. But the winner of the final also earns one of the region’s berths at the 2024 Olympics in France. Morgan, 33, is now one of the more senior members of the team, which has brought in budding players like fellow forwards Sophia Smith, Mallory, Pugh, and Trinity Rodman since the Tokyo Olympics. The White Sox surged into the All-Star break by winning three out of four games against the first-place Twins. The White Sox outscored the Twins 32-10 in the series. Minnesota leads the AL Central by two games over Cleveland. The White Sox are three behind the Twins. Andrew Vaughn had a homer among three hits and three RBIs. Yoán Moncada and Josh Harrison also homered for the White Sox. Cubs 3, Mets 2 – Hoerner gets 3 hits as Cubs stop slide by topping Mets 3-2 Nico Hoerner hit a tiebreaking RBI single with two outs in the eighth inning, and the Chicago Cubs stopped a nine-game slide by topping the New York Mets 3-2. Christopher Morel sparked Chicago’s winning rally with a leadoff infield single against Drew Smith. Morel advanced to third on Willson Contreras’ single and scored on Ian Happ’s tapper to the right of the mound. After Seiya Suzuki popped out, Hoerner’s liner into center drove in Contreras from second for a 3-2 lead. Hoerner finished with three hits. Rowan Wick pitched a scoreless inning for the win, and David Robertson got three outs for his 13th save. Tigers at Guardians, PPD – Tigers-Guardians game postponed by rain The finale of the four-game series between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians on Sunday has been postponed by rain. The Guardians have had nine home games postponed by inclement weather and have played seven doubleheaders at Progressive Field. The scheduled 1:40 p.m. game was called off about two hours before the first pitch. The game will be made up as part of a traditional doubleheader Aug. 15. Season 2 here we go!! To kick things off this year, we are so excited to be sharing with you our three way chat with actors Sara Reed, Stefanie Caccamo and Emily Havea! Perth was lucky enough to have it's theatre doors open in 2020, with Black Swan Theatre Company rounding out the year with a wonderfully joyous and thought provoking reimagining of Rogers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma (Directed by Richard Carroll), with these three badass ladies at the helm. A little bit about these women: Hailing originally from Eagle Lake, Texas, Sara is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) with a BA in Music Theatre. Her credits include City Homicide (Seven Network), Knowing, (with Nicholas Cage), the Australian tour of Little Britain Live, Billy Elliot, Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins, and prior to attending WAAPA, Sara played Bielke in Fiddler on the Roof, opposite Anthony Warlow. In 2019, Sara played the roles of Marta in Company and dance soloist Frug Girl in Sweet Charity. Sara has most recently been part of Oklahoma! For Black Swan Theatre Company. Emily is a Sydney based actor, singer and dancer. A 2014 NIDA acting grad, Emily has worked across theatre, music, film and TV. Theatre credits include 'Julius Caesar' (Calphurnia/Octavius) Bell Shakespeare Co; 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' (Hermia), Bell Shakespeare; 'BU21' (Thalissa) Old 505, Outhouse Theatre Co; 'Dogfght', Hayes Theatre; 'Sing To Me', Apocalypse Theatre and 'Brown Skin Girl' with Blackbirds for Griffin Theatre Batch Festival and the WITS Festival Fatale. Emily trained full time with Danceworld Studios in 2011 and teaches and performs regularly with Retrosweat, the 80ties aerobic workout. Her TV credits include season 6 'Wentworth' (Mon Alston) Fremantle Media/Showcase and 'Growing Up Gracefully', ABC. Film credits include 'Stem' (Nurse Henderson) with Goalpost Pictures and web series; 'Resting Pitch Face' (Olivia), Google/ Grumpy Sailor Productions. In 2020 Emily was cast as the world first female Curly in Okalhoma! At Black Swan Theatre. Stefanie Caccamo is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of the Performing Arts (WAAPA) and her credits include Dead Man Walking the Opera, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Applause, Once, HAIR: The Musical 50th Anniversary Tour, Irene, and most recently, Laurie in Oklahoma! In this episode we talk about all things Oklahoma, self esteem and body image, creative boundaries, and the impact of telling your truth as an artist. Those of us who grew up in Seattle spend a lot of time reflecting fondly on the 1995 Mariners team, but many people don't get why we celebrate a team that didn't even make the World Series. It would be nice if the team could give us some new fond memories. The Thunder are unraveling, and nothing could make us in Seattle happier. It's been an underwhelming decade for a team with so much talent, but the same could be said for the Sonics in the 1990's. The Oakland A's took out a front page ad in the Perth, Australia newspaper, but it didn't go as planned.
