Welcome back to another episode of the Spectator Mode Podcast, where we discuss the gaming industry and all the things that come with it. In this episode, we get a bit serious as we discuss the differences between having a good year in gaming and having a good year for gamers. Karl is back from PAX AUS 2024 and he gives us the rundown, as well as his meet-up with Square Enix's Yoshi-P. We aren't done being serious as we point at the countless GOTY shows and ask why expansions aren't included in the fun. That and more on this episode! We convened at a convention this weekend, and we can tell you about what we've played there including Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Sonic Superstars, and a ton of indie games. We've played some of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Beta and Forza Motorsport, and Adam's played and loved the language translation adventure game Chants of Sennaar. Speaking of language, I've been avoiding admitting it, but I think it's time: writing those first few words of the description here is the first time I've realised that a convention is called a convention because you convene there. I bet that's why they call it a convent too. What about convenient? Is that related? Time to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.
This week on Thumb Cramps it's time to break a world record by asking what if convention was podcast as the Thumb Cramps boys record the first ever second ever podcast live from the floor of PAX AUS (2023) and look at Super Mario Bros Wonder, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Sonic Superstars, Killbug, Ascending Inferno, Cyber Paradise, Footy Bash, Karma Zoo, Skate Bums, Into The Dead: The Darkest Days, ShelfLife: Art School Detective, Android: Netrunner, The Godfeather, Letters to Arralla, Thirsty Sword Lesbians and Spin Rhythm XD.
