Join Kyran and Joel as they dive head first into the wonderful world of Video Games, discussing the latest news and releases as well as opinions on various topics
Greetings listeners! On this week's Quest Log Joel's talks about the new rhythm shooter now available on Game Pass, Metal Hellsinger, and Kyran talks about a cute monochrome photography game, Toem, and Capcom's action horror blockbuster, Resident Evil 5. Meanwhile in our Bonus Round we try to touch on some of the big stories that have surfaced over the last couple of weeks (and boy has there been a lot). We talk a little about the State of the Play and Nintendo Direct presentations before digging into the Ryu Ga Gotoku Summit where a handful of new Yakuza/Like a Dragon games were announced. Thanks for listening and look forward to a PAX episode (probably one before, during and after) in the coming weeks! Greetings listeners! We're back with another episode (slightly delayed by a couple of days so we could be joined by our guest!) This week Jesse from Story Mode Gaming joins us to break down Massive Monster's 2022 smash hit, Cult of the Lamb. We talk about the game generally before leaping headfirst into a slightly more spoiler-filled territory, turns out a game about running a cult filled with some cute animal folk, building up a home for them, and slaying ancient Gods ends up being a pretty good time. SOME LIGHT CULT OF THE LAMB SPOILERS START AT 0:29:20 AND END BY 0:53:45 Then we move into a new instalment of Dope or Nope where we break down the recent Ubisoft Forward, touching on topics like Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, Just Dance, and a deluge of Assassin's Creed announcements (some exciting, some perplexing) As always thank you for your support and don't forget to go and check out Story Mode Gaming at the links below (plus use our links if you want to reach out to us as well!) Greetings listeners, We're back with another episode that we tastefully pushed back a week to cover two massive events! First up we've got a Dope or Nope where Kyran pulls up a list of pretty much every game that showed up in some form in Geoff Keighley's Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase, there's some dopes, there's some nopes, then there's some stuff that Kyran just left out intentionally. We then wrap up the show with a Bonus Round where we talk about the Destiny showcase where Bungie threw back the curtain on Lightfall, the game's forthcoming expansion dropping in early 2023. We also take some time to talk about how exciting some of the changes coming to the game in the future are. As always thank you for listening! We've got a Quest Log in the pipeline where we'll finally talk about Cult of the Lamb, so keep an eye out for that episode in the future. You can hit us up using the links below! Greetings listeners! We're back with a slightly delayed episode of the show after Joel faced off against the spicy cough for a second time and Kyran claws his way back out from under the weight on his work days. This week we've got a Quest packed with Joel's impressions of Returnal, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and early impressions of the free-to-play brawler, Multiversus meanwhile Kyran has conquered Stray and began his journey into the wilderness of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. We also quickly dip into the Bonus Round to talk about the latest information for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet plus Joel walks us through the recent Annapurna Interactive showcase. Greetings listeners! We're back with a Dope or Nope filled episode of the Dialogue Options Podcast. This week we talk about the recently announced release dates for both God of War: Ragnarok and Bayonetta 3, Elden Ring's incredible sales, EA's Skate game releasing as a free-to-play service game, and much more. We also make time for a quick Bonus Round where we talk about the upcoming return of E3 in 2023 and whether we think ReedPop joining forces with the ESA will benefit the show or will it continue to be plagued with issues. Greetings listeners! We're back with another episode and finally touching upon our Quest Log as the dust of the Summer Game Fest settles around us. Plenty of games come up in this episode, but mostly we talk about TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, Jurassic World Evolution 2's BioSyn expansion, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, Xenoblade Chronicles (1 + 2) and a few other smaller games that come up naturally. We also do a quick lightning round thumbs up or thumbs down for the latest Nintendo Direct Mini that finally confirmed that the Persona series (or at least 3, 4 and 5) are finally coming to Nintendo's platform. News will probably be slim picking for the next few weeks now we are on the road to Gamescom, so expect more Quest Log oriented episodes in the future. Greetings listeners! We're back with another special Summer (Winter?) Games Fest episode of the show, this time covering the Xbox + Bethesda showcase. In what looked and felt the most like an E3 presentation of old we were given a long list of games to digest, with Xbox promising that the majority of them should be out within the next 12 months. They had first party stuff to show like Redfall, Forza Motorsport, and Starfield plus a bunch of interesting third party announcements to spice things up like Hollow Knight: Silksong and the first official Xbox release for Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal. Due to it being such a packed show we've put together another Dope or Nope episode to help make the news a bit easier to tackle, but if there's anything we should have given more time to we'd love to hear from you! Greetings listeners! We're back with a strange mid-week episode of the show to celebrate the newest Keigh-3 (E3 replacement) with 2022's Summer Game Fest kick off. It was a show that some surprises (some ruined by leaks) and plenty of quality Geoff Keighly time. We saw new trailers for Street Fighter 6, Neon White, TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, and The Last of Us Part 1, so join us as we attempt to Dope or Nope our way through the show to uncover what we enjoyed about it. We'll have another episode this week covering the Xbox + Bethesda showcase and another next week we'll try to bring the best of the rest into the spotlight. Greetings listeners, It's time for another episode of the Dialogue Options Podcast and this time we break down the latest State of Play from PlayStation and the official kick off for 2022's Summer (Winter for Australians I guess?) Game Fest. It turns out Sony is getting better at these showcases as this was easily one of their strongest showings. Resident Evil 4 Remake is officially announced, we got confirmation that the Callisto Protocol is releasing this December, Final Fantasy XVI's release has slipped into 2023, plus a bunch of neat smaller announcements. Look forward to hearing from us next week as we sift through the deluge of events that will be going down over the weekend. Greetings listeners! We're back with a new episode and this time Jesse Munro (from the Story Mode Gaming Podcast) helps Joel and Kyran sift through a pretty packed list of discussion points in a new Dope or Nope. Warner Bros. officially revealed the debut trailer for Multiversus, Microsoft and Bethesda have officially delayed both Starfield and Redfall, Jeff Grubb has heard that the long rumoured Last of Us Remake is potentially dropping this holiday season, plus we've got a healthy dose of the newest Silent Hill rumours that point to potentially three games being in development. We also wrap up with a discussion about the new PlayStation Plus being rolled out next month now that Sony has been generous to provide us with Australian pricing and a list of games that should be available when the service launches later in June. Special thanks to Jesse for joining us for this chaos, we strongly recommend you go and check out Story Mode Gaming if you don't already, you may even find us popping up again over there soon. Greetings listeners! We're back with a new episode of the show, which happens to include an absolutely packed grab bag Quest Log segment as Joel talks to us about his time with several different games including Rogue Legacy 1, Loot River, Citizen Sleeper, and completing Elden Ring; meanwhile Kyran has been competing in Destiny 2's Guardian Games and attempting to save everyone's souls in an abandoned Tokyo in Ghostwire Tokyo. Over in the Bonus Round we talk about Square Enix's massive decision to sell off some of their Western studios (Crystal Dynamics and Eidos) to Embracer Group for USD$300 million, plus we find some time to talk about the latset Final Fantasy XVI updates and Xbox / Summer Game Fest locking in their June dates as we head into what we once knew as E3 season. Greetings listeners, We're back with a new episode of the show! We unfortunately had to delay our latest episode by a week or so as Kyran unfortunately ended up catching the spicy cough and having to isolate for a solid week. The good news is that he finally had some time whilst he was locked up in his room to play some games that aren't Elden Ring. On the Quest Log this week Joel talks a little bit about his progress with Elden Ring (and Kyran tries to keep his contributions to a minimum) as well as reliving his childhood with last year's Hot Wheels racing game, meanwhile Kyran finally gets a chance to talk about Triangle Strategy and the ultimate palette cleanser in the form of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Over in this week's Dope or Nope we have a lot of stuff to talk about, some of it recent and some of it a few weeks old but still relevant to what we talk about on this show. The oldest news is related to E3 2022 being cancelled in all forms (but really who was surprised about that) and includes newer stories like Atlus announcing Persona mouthwash and the new Streets of Rage movie being announced. As always thank you for listening and if you want to get in touch with us feel free to hit us up using the links below! Greetings listeners! We're back with a new episode of the show and yeah... it's more Elden Ring. Since it is pretty much all Kyran has been playing he couldn't resist doing another episode on it, but in order to give Joel a break he has subbed in Brendan to talk about his thoughts on From Software's latest gauntlet. We try to steer clear of major spoilers and boss / location names and also take some chances to look back at the legacy of From Software and how they've grown with the many releases in the storied Soulsbourne games. Kyran also promises that he won't talk extensively about Elden Ring again now until he is finished with the game. Are you playing Elden Ring? Let us know how you are going! Otherwise we'll be back next episode with some different games! Hit us up using any of the links below! Greetings listeners! We're back with a new episode, tastefully delayed for a day to cover the recent State of Play from Sony! Kicking things off we've got a Quest Log packed with some brief impressions of Destiny 2 The Witch Queen, Kirby and the Forgotten Land's demo, and Devolver's Tumble Time before wading into our meaty and enthusiastic conversation about Elden Ring. We talk about how we've found our time in the Lands Between and our many deaths at the hand of various different bosses and hazards. Meanwhile in Dope or Nope we break down all of the announcements from the State of Play, including the bizarre Exoprimal where it literally rains dinosaurs and Square Enix managing to avoid naming yet another SRPG as an official entry in the Final Fantasy Tactics franchise. We also find time for a brief discussion on those adorable new Pokemon starters for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. If you want to get in touch with us then hit us up using the links below! Greetings listeners! We're back with our first regular episode of the year and we've got a juicy Quest Log ahead of a gift wrapped Nintendo Direct to start off 2022 in the best way possible. Joel and Kyran have spent some time with Game Freak's newest Pokémon game that hopes to shake up the formula, the results are mixed but there's still positive things that can be taken from this game and carried forward with the series. Joel's also rediscovered Fortnite and talks about his grind with OlliOlli World whilst Kyran's been setting several new Jurassic World parks and trying to keep those rowdy dinosaurs under control. Elsewhere the first Nintendo Direct has arrived and given us plenty of announcements and updates to chew on, including Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Live A Live plus updates on Advance Wars, Triangle Strategy, and more. We're looking forward to another big year with SEVERAL heavy hitters landing in the next few weeks, we hope you'll join us for another crazy year. Hit us up using the links below! Greetings listeners! We made it through 2021! But before we put it to rest and look forward to all the great new games coming up in 2022 (we are in the month of Elden Ring!) it's time to take a final look back at the year that was. Both Joel and Kyran have put together top ten lists for their personal Game of the Year lists in the same manner as last year, it's something we found incredibly fun so decided to give it another shot! Kyran's list starts at 0:13:39 and Joel's list starts at 0:28:17. It was another surprisingly good year for games, we also make some time for shout outs for games that didn't make the cut or we didn't play enough of to really put them in the running to make our lists. Thanks for sticking with us for another year, we've got a packed Quest Log episode coming up with both of us currently getting lost in the Hisui region in Pokemon Legends Arceus, so you can look out for our impressions on that soon! Greetings listeners! We're back with our final episode for the year! We start with a Quest Log where we finally make time for some juicy spoiler-filled discussion for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy now that Joel has hit credits and can finally talk freely about one of 2021's biggest surprises, and Kyran makes time for some early Halo Infinite impressions. MARVEL'S GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY SPOILERS 0:25:36 TO 0:49:52 Meanwhile in our Bonus Round we break down the latest Keighley's and go over some of the surprises at the award show, including wins that made us happy, losses that bummed us out, and who won our little wager this year. We also break down the reveals in a very ad-filled year for the show, if there's any we didn't get excited enough about then let us know! Greetings listeners! On this week's episode we have a small Quest Log as Joel tries to talk about Inscryption without spoiling what made it blow his mind and Kyran gushes over one of this year's most revered indie titles, Death's Door. It's that time of the year again, folks! The Keighleys are just around the corner and we're back with another prediction showdown where both Joel and Kyran run through the list of nominees and say who they voted for and who they think will win. This year we've decided to pass on the esports and content creator awards as we just didn't know enough about any of the nominees to make an informed choice. We also spare a little time at the end for some predictions and wild hopes for announcements and reveals we may see at the Game Awards. If you want to get in touch with us to let us know who you think will win, feel free to hit us up using the links below. Greetings listeners, we're back with another episode! On this week's show we focus entirely on what we've been playing with a Quest Log only episode, which tracks given Kyran held everyone up in October to gush about Metroid (sorry not sorry). Joel and Kyran have both reached credits on the incredibly simple and fun Unpacking from Witch Beam Games and discuss how much they enjoyed the experience, including the subtle but effective underlying narrative told exclusively through the gameplay's strengths. We also talk about our time with Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy where Kyran tries to convince Joel to pause what he's playing at the moment to get back into finishing it, it's almost certainly one of 2021's most surprising video games. Lastly we have the two main games of the show, Joel has spent the last week getting his fix with Forza Horizon 5 and fills Kyran in on all the details from Playground's newest racer for fans of all skill levels, meanwhile Kyran waded into the Elden Ring closed network test over the weekend and spends almost too much time talking to Joel about everything he loved about the preview and how much he already misses it. The Game Awards nominees are out so its very likely our next episode will be us running down the list and making our picks, so make sure you go to get your votes in as well! (Specifically for Metroid Dread as GOTY, let's make this happen) If you want to hit us up feel free to do so using any of the links below! Greetings listeners! We're back with a special episode this week, or rather we are releasing an episode we recorded especially for PAX Australia's PAX Radio back in October. On this episode we return to our good ol' 'Kill Your Babies' / 'Battle Royale' format by picking a list of Australian indie games and attempting to crown our favourite, whilst hurting each other along the way because every single one of these games is worth a look. We had originally planned a normal episode this week but some stuff came up and now we'll be releasing it next week. If you want a tease you can look forward to hearing Joel's early thoughts about Forza Horizon 5 and Kyran will be spending this weekend diving into the Elden Ring closed beta, so there's plenty to look forward to. Greetings listeners! We're back with another episode of the podcast and a second episode focused on Metroid Dread (probably our last one, thanks to Joel and everyone for humouring Kyran). We spent the start of the episode doing a spoiler-free recap of our thoughts now that we've both rolled credits before rolling into breaking down the game's story, running through the game's bosses and enemies, and finishing off by talking about the power-ups featured in the game. METROID DREAD SPOILERS START AT 0:27:55 If you have any (literally any) Metroid Dread thoughts hit us up! You can find us through any of the links below and Kyran is always eager to talk about his favourite Nintendo franchise. See you next mission! The fated day has arrived! Metroid Dread is finally here! The long awaited fifth (and final) entry in the original Metroid story arc has officially released on the Nintendo Switch just last week. So we decided we'd strike while the iron was hot and sit down to dish on our early impressions on the newest Metroid title. We do our best to avoid major spoilers beyond what was initially shown in the game's early E3 showing and a few of the trailers, but we fully intend to break it all down in a full spoilers episode at some point in the not too distant future so be sure to keep an eye out for that. Until then, sit down and plug in some headphones. Kyran's been waiting a long time to do this episode. If you want to reach out to us with any Metroid Dread thoughts of your own feel free to use the links below! Greetings listeners! On this week's show we have a PACKED Quest Log, both Joel and Kyran have early impressions for both Dreamscaper and Tales of Arise respectively, both games they'll be circling back on at a later date. We then talk about how we've been finding Eastward, the first game from Chinese developer Pixpil, and gush about how much we love the game's visuals and Zelda-like gameplay. Lastly, we've also finished a new game! We talk about our time with The Artful Escape whilst keeping spoilers to a minimum, if you have access to a PC or an Xbox it is absolutely a game we recommend checking out. Meanwhile, over in the Bonus Round we breakdown the latest Nintendo Direct that was packed with some pretty big surprises. We got our first look at a 3D Kirby, Nintendo confirmed rumours that N64 (and Sega Genesis) would be joining the Nintendo Switch Online line up in October for an undisclosed additional cost, our first official glimpse at the highly anticipated Bayonetta 3 and the entire internet was left reeling after the cast announcement for the Super Mario Bros. animated movie coming next year featuring Chris Pratt as Mario. Segment Timecodes Quest Log: 0:13:53 Bonus Round: 1:09:21 Metroid Dread is coming, Kyran is looking forward to hearing from all of you next week when the game drops and we are all collectively playing it on our Switches. Greetings listeners! Sorry about the episode being a little late, this week has been another bumpy one in a long string of similarly bumpy ones as we continue to feel a bit fatigued by the endless barrage of stuff that 2021 continues to throw our way. First up we've got a Quest Log where Kyran goes over his return to Destiny 2 with the recent launch of the Season of the Lost ahead of 2022's release of the new Witch Queen DLC, he has quickly been sucked back in by Bungie's incredibly fun shooting mechanics and the ever addicting act of making the numbers go up. Meanwhile, Joel has gone back in time to finish Psychonauts among all the excitement for the sequel and he fills Kyran in on his thoughts on the game, how it has aged, and how excited he is to play the sequel. Elsewhere in the show we go through each game shown at the latest PlayStation showcase, billed as the show for the PlayStation 5. We talk about whether we thought it delivered and talk about the highs (like the insane talent over at Insomniac and how good the new God of War looks) to the lows (like that incredibly pointless GTA5 trailer). It doesn't make the console easier to get, but it does look like the future is looking good for PlayStation 5 owners as we move further into next generation becoming the current generation. Segment Timecodes Quest Log: 0:10:43 Bonus Round: 0:55:11 If you want to get in touch with us then feel free to hit us up using the links below!
Greetings listeners! On this week's Quest Log we've got a bit of a mixed bag of impressions from Joel who's been spending a little time with Art of Rally, the Ollie Ollie games on Switch, and dipped his toes in the Riders Republic open beta that recently took place. Meanwhile Kyran managed to finish NEO The World Ends With You and attempts to tell Joel how cool it is to have a sequel to an underappreciated Nintendo DS gem (and lament how the original game is hard to emulate on anything but a DS given the control scheme it used) Then we jump over to Dope or Nope where we've got a brand new Gamescom Opening Night Live to break down that featured a few surprises and updates to both new and unannounced games, our personal highlights being Marvel's Midnight Sons and the newly announced Saints Row reboot. We also make a bit of time at the end of the show to talk about the recent very early look at Motive Studio's Dead Space remake. Segment Timecodes Quest Log: 0:09:38 Dope or Nope: 0:50:46 We're closing in on the release of Metroid Dread, so get yourselves ready for a bumper dose of Metroid excitement when that game drops in just over a month's time. Greetings listeners! Joel fills Kyran in on his fresh enrolment at Dodgeball Academia where he sharpens his Dodgeball skills to kick off this week's Quest Log. We also talk about our very early impressions from the recently released Boyfriend Dungeon (date those weapons!) and facing the hordes of the undead in Back 4 Blood's Open Beta. Meanwhile over in the Bonus Round we break down the most recent Indie World featuring plenty of indies that either shadow dropped on the day and we now want or are coming out soon and we desperately want them. There's a lot to love from this latest showcase! Segment Time Codes Quest Log: 00:09:42 Bonus Round: 01:06:14 See you next mission (hit us up using the links below if you want to get in touch with us) Email: contact@dialogueoptions.com Website: www.dialogueoptions.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dialogueoptions Twitter: https://twitter.com/DialogueOptions Joel: https://twitter.com/joelymac Kyran: https://twitter.com/lemonmanx
Greetings listeners! It's been a bit of a weird couple of weeks, so we hope you'll bare with us for this week's episode. First up we've got the Quest Log, where both Kyran and Joel have synced up on a couple of games that have come out fairly recently! We start with Pokémon Unite, a free to play Pokémon themed MOBA that dropped on the Switch, and are both quite surprised at how enjoyable of an experience it is for short bursts. Lastly, we have spent a little bit of time with The Ascent, a twin-stick shooter cyberpunk-themed co-operative game, after its recent release on Xbox Game Pass. We've got a bit to say about how much we are enjoying it and about how it really feels like the game needs a few more patches to really be a truly great experience. Meanwhile, over in Dope or Nope we talk about the still unfolding debacle over at Activision Blizzard after the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing filed a lawsuit against Blizzard over sexual harassment, unequal pay and more. We try not to talk about it too much, as it has been developing over the last two weeks and largely where we stand is alongside many others that have touched on this. Taking a stand against this behaviour and calling it out when you notice it essential, accountability is so important and it sadly seems like this sort of behaviour isn't at all uncommon in the games industry. We also break down the recent Annapurna Interactive presentation and talk about how excited we are about the newly announced Dead Space remake. We cap off the show with a short Bonus Round so that Kyran can remind everyone that this week Metroid will officially celebrate its 35th anniversary (on August 6th, specifically) and wants to bring some attention to it. There's no better time to jump in than now, which is why it is so disappointing that Nintendo is making it so difficult for this criminally underrated series to find new players. At the very least, Super Metroid is available on the Switch's SNES Online, but if you've got a Wii U still kicking around the nicest thing we can say about it is that it plays almost all of the currently available Metroid games. Segment Time Codes Quest Log: 00:15:48 Dope or Nope: 00:53:43 Bonus Round: 01:40:55 See you next mission (hit us up using the links below if you want to get in touch with us) Email: contact@dialogueoptions.com Website: www.dialogueoptions.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dialogueoptions Twitter: https://twitter.com/DialogueOptions Joel: https://twitter.com/joelymac Kyran: https://twitter.com/lemonmanx
Greetings listeners! On this week's episode of the show Joel's been playing Boomerang X and gives Kyran the low down on it in the Quest, additionally we talk a little too much about Mass Effect without saying anything because we can't help ourselves, and Kyran has reached credits on Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. He also tries to convince Joel to play Metroid (and hopefully Zero Mission) as we close in on Metroid's 35th anniversary early next month, he also invites any listeners to do the same and hit him on Twitter or via e-mail if you've got any thoughts you want to share on them. Meanwhile, over in Dope or Nope we got a massive announcement from Valve last week as they fully unveiled the Steam Deck, a portable PC that is pretty much what many people hoped the currently non-existent Switch Pro would be. We go over the prices and specs (while also lamenting it not being available in our region yet) before moving onto the Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) and Nintendo's new statement in response to a Bloomberg piece about its profits margins whilst also taking some time to talk about the new model. We also look at the reveal trailer for the newest Ubisoft Original Tom Clancy's XDefiant, talk about how many EA is going a bit too far about keeping everyone's expectations in check for the imminent EA Play this week, and get cautiously excited about Atlus preparing to celebrate the Persona series hitting its 25th anniversary starting from September of this year. Segment Time Codes Quest Log: 00:14:57 Dope or Nope: 00:55:44 As always thank you for listening, if you are reading this and want to share anything about your time with the Metroid series then now's your chance to get in touch with us using the links below. Next episode Kyran will no doubt find time to rant about his love for it with actual purpose. Greetings listeners! On this week's Quest Log we've been dabbling in some different games. Joel and Kyran share their early impressions on the demo for Neo: The World Ends With You (a game that we still can't believe actually exists). Kyran tells Joel about his very early thoughts on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart for the PS5, and lastly Joel's been getting a hit of FPS throwback nostalgia in Prodeus from Xbox Games Preview and walks Kyran through his time with Mario Golf Super Rush so far. Over in Dope or Nope we've got a stack of tasty headlines as the industry continues to shuffle forward as the dust of E3 settles. Sony has made some studio acquisitions, Konami and Bloober Team are working together on something horror related, BioWare confirm that they won't be at this year's EA Play (placing all expectations on the newly rumoured Dead Space remake), Ghost of Tsushima's Director's Cut is officially launching next month, and the Kojima/Xbox partnership appears to have reached a new milestone via a Jeff Grubb rumour. Plenty to discuss and plenty to chew on! As always thank you for listening and if you want to hit us up across the internet you can find a variety of links below with which to do so. Greetings listeners! We're back after taking a week to process E3 and scroll through the lists of games that were announced or updated over the course of five or so very crazy days. Our E3 wrap is a little different this year, purely because of how condensed every presentation was and the lack of free time we actually had to break it all down (it'd be so many episodes) we decided instead to put together lists of the games that caught our attention as well as including some general discussion about how we felt the event worked this year. I think we can all agree it was preferable to how spread out everything was last year, but it is also fair to say that maybe we don't really need the ESA and E3 side of things and instead just pivot towards a weekend in June to celebrate games. It'll be interesting to see what happens in 2022 if an in person E3 happens again. Is there anything from E3 and the Summer Game Fest that is on your radar that we missed? If so, tell us! There was so much announced that it was incredibly hard to keep track of it all and we'd love to have even more games to follow. Let us know by hitting up the links below! Additionally, we've now been doing this show for five years! That's crazy, so thank you for sticking with us as we use this space to specifically unload our video game thoughts into a podcast. Greetings listeners! We're back with another episode and it just so happens to be a super sized one. In the Quest Log we talk briefly about our time with the recent Scarlet Nexus demo, a new anime game from Bandai Namco, before moving into a surprisingly busy Dope or Nope packed with updates on Dragon Quest, Far Cry 6, and a new Horizon: Forbidden West State of Play. Lastly, in the Bonus Round we foolishly break down Jeff Grubb's neatly listed out rundown for next week's festivities as they currently stand. This includes speculation about we hope to see at E3 and Summer Game Fest from the likes of Xbox + Bethesda, Bandai Namco, Ubisoft, and Nintendo ( + more, but some are really hard to speculate on). In classic video game fashion a bunch of stuff happened just after we finished recording as well, including Nintendo officially locking in their E3 time and Sony confirming God of War Ragnarok will not be releasing this year. Segment time codes: Quest Log - 00:03:37 Dope or Nope - 00:23:44 Bonus Round - 00:57:32 It's an exciting time to be into video games! If you've got any hopes or dreams then send them our way, otherwise join Kyran in calling upon whatever powers above exist for a Metroid game on the Switch. Hit us up using the links below! Greetings listeners! On this episode's Quest Log Joel's been putting more time into both Monster Hunter Rise and continuing his efforts to reach the end of Nier Replicant. Meanwhile Kyran has serves up a fresh dose of thalassophobia with his early impressions of Unknown World's Subnautica Below Zero, a game which offers more ocean survival on a smaller scale with some nice quality of life improvements and a larger focus on narrative before closing out with the big one. Now that he's hit credits Kyran lets Joel know how he feels about Resident Evil Village, a game that has been talking itself up since it was announced. Did he like it? Did he hate it? It is also worth noting that there is are some Resident Evil Village spoilers from 0:43:38 and end around 0:54:46 and 0:56:04 to 0:56:51. Then over in Dope or Nope we've got an assortment of things to talk about, including Disco Elysium no longer being banned in Australia (and available for sale right now), Sony apparently working on 25 new games for the PS5 (half of which are supposedly new IPs), Ubisoft looking to include more AAA free-to-play experiences in their release schedule, and Final Fantasy XIV's Fan Fest revealed a bunch of new info for the newest expansion. As always feel to hit us up using the links below if you want to get in touch and maybe convince Joel to play RE7 in VR or peer pressure Kyran into making time for FF-XIV. Greetings listeners! On this week's episode we're cheating a little with our Quest Log and incorporating a couple of movies into what is typically our 'what we've been playing' segment. We've been down to the local cinemas to see the latest live action Mortal Kombat film and suffered through the Monster Hunter movie, we bring you our thoughts on both and let me just say one was definitely better than the other. Outside of that we've both been plugging away at the recently released Nier Replicant. This game is seen as something of a second chance for the game after it originally released on the PS3, hopefully we don't make any enemies with our early impressions! Meanwhile, other in Dope or Nope we've got a variety of talking points. These range from a wild list of characters that Epic wants to include in Fortnite that has leaked out thanks to the absolutely crazy Apple v Epic court case going on right now to the shocking news that three veterans would be stepping down from Giant Bomb. We are gearing up for E3 so you can look forward to us talking about that later this month, until then if you want to reach out to us you can use any of the links below! (Especially if you've got any hopes or dreams for the return of E3, let us know!!) Greetings listeners! We're back with another episode and this time we're making good on something we've been meaning to get to, Joel has hit credits on Persona 5 Strikers. We take some time to talk about some broad thoughts about the game as a while as well as dedicating about 15 or so minutes to spoiler discussion. Persona 5 Strikers spoilers start 0:14:48 at and end at 0:32:41 Additionally, Joel spent a bit of time with the demo for Aerial_Knight's Never Yield, a new auto running game featured in the most recent Indie World that Nintendo held last week. Meanwhile, Kyran talks about his time with a single game of Resident Evil's newest weird multiplayer distraction, RE: Verse, and the highly anticipated Resident Evil Village demo. 30 minutes in the Village segment was enough to truly convince Kyran that this game is going to be brilliant as Resident Evil continues to stride forward (remember when we were all ready to write the series off after Resident Evil 6?) Over in the Bonus Round Joel runs us through the list of presented in the most recent Indie World, which included some games we've seen a lot (like Cris Tales) and some genuine surprises (like a new game being published by Konami based on an old NES IP and a new Oxenfree game from Night School). It's probably the last we'll hear from Nintendo until E3 based on timelines, so we make sure to revel in it. As always, thank you for listening and if you want to get in touch with us you can hit up the links below! Greetings listeners! Welcome back to another episode of the show, this time around we've got another Quest Log focused episode due to a quiet week on the news front. First up, Joel's briefly found some time to check out People Can Fly's new looter shooter Outriders thanks to the power of Xbox Game Pass, then Kyran weighs in on a brand new demo for a Metroid fan game called Prime 2D (and can't help but get a little bitter at the fact that as this gets more attention, the more likely it'll be that Nintendo send off a cease and desist). Lastly, we talk about how we've been finding Monster Hunter Rise since it's launch on Switch just over a week ago. We talk about the weapons we're using, the monsters we like hunting, and how we're finding it after really breaking into the Monster Hunter series with World. Spoilers, we're having a good time turning our favourite beasts into shirts. Thanks for listening and if you want to get in touch the relevant links can be found below! Greetings listeners! On this week's episode of the show we've got a short and sweet Quest Log. Joel is still chipping away at Persona 5 Strikers but has also felt himself feeling the call of the likes of Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone, meanwhile Kyran checks out the newly released PlayStation 5 version of Marve's Avengers and throws himself into the fourth season of Fall Guys. Then in our Bonus Round we've got frustrating news about Disco Elysium's Australian release, Square Enix hosted their first digital event for the year, Sony teams up with RTS to acquire EVO, rumours are circulating that Sony may be shutting down a few legacy system's online storefronts, and the new Nintendo Switch whispers continue to gain strength as we look towards a potentially inevitable hardware refresh. Greetings listeners! Sorry about the lack of episode last week! It was a decision we came to due to the lack of news and our own lack of new games having been played, but this week we invited Brendan back to help us bolster a Quest Log focused episode. First up Joel gives us some more of his thoughts on Persona 5 Strikers whilst also managing to side track us with Persona discussion in general, Kyran weighs in on how he's finding Bravely Default 2 and why he thinks he might be putting it down for now, then Brendan informs us on what the heck Dyson Sphere Program is and reminds us to be excited for the upcoming System Shock remake after exploring the most recent demo. Lastly, we finish up with Valheim, an early access crafting survival game with a Viking twist. It's a game that has stolen both Kyran and Brendan's hearts over the 20 or so hours they've put into it during the last week and a half. Joel's been curious about it, time to see if he'll be pushed over the edge. If you want to get in touch with us then feel free to hit up any of the links below! Greetings listeners! As mentioned last episode, this week's show was just so big that we decided to break each segment down into individual episodes. You can find all the news in our Dope or Nope episode prior to this one. This part contains our Quest Log, which we decided to do a bit differently with Brod joining us on the show. We start off by checking in with our two PlayStation 5 owners, as they talk about the console and how they are finding it before moving onto Brod's list of games that he has had a chance to play. Lastly, we finish things up by getting the early impressions from both Joel and Kyran on Persona 5 Strikers. Once again, special thanks to Brod for joining us this week. You can find him over at Hunting Seasons (links below) If you want to reach out then feel free to hit up the links below! Greetings listeners! First up I wanted to give you a heads up about how this episode is going to work, we were once again joined by Brod from Hunting Seasons and had such a blast recording that we ran a little long. So we've decided to make consuming the episodes easier we'll break it up into two parts! This part contains another juicy dose of Dope or Nope as we cover the recent State of Play, gauge our excitement over the new announcements regarding the future of Final Fantasy VII, get ourselves pretty excited over the possibilities of Sony's new announcement regarding PlayStation VR's successor for PS5, and lastly touch on the newest information on the Pokémon series dropped in our lap by Game Freak! We hope you enjoy the episode and keep your eyes out for a Quest Log episode in a few days! If you want to reach out to us feel free to hit us up using the links below! Greetings listeners! This week on the show Joel and Kyran are joined by their good friend, who they definitely don't pay for the right to say that, Brod of the Hunting Seasons Podcast. We've combined forces to work our way through Nintendo's return to the general Nintendo Direct format for the first time since September 2019, we knock out the headlines with the power of a fully functional Dope or Nope segment and squeeze in a little BlizzCon hype at the end with the latest announcements for both Overwatch 2 and Diablo. Meanwhile in our Quest Log we talk about our time with the Switch release of Super Mario 3D World and the bonus content provided in Bowser's Fury, plus Brod gives Kyran a chance to talk about the Maiden demo for Resident Evil Village on PS5 which he definitely hadn't forgot that he played until this week. Special thanks to Brod for joining us this week! As always if you want to reach out to us you can use the links below! Greetings listeners! We're back with another episode of the podcast, this week focusing entirely on the games we've been playing! Now that Game of the Year is finalised for us we can start moving into more regular episodes. Kyran has been playing the PS5 version of Remedy's Control and has spent a little time living the life of a deadly shark in Maneater. Finally to round out the episode both Joel and Kyran have now completed Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which is what this episode is mostly focused on. SPOILERS START AT 1:02:30 AND END AT 1:40:10 Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a game we've both been excited for and were lucky enough to be able to squeeze it in, if you like RPGs or have any sort of investment in the Yakuza franchise then this is definitely a game we can recommend you invest some time in. Do it for Ichiban. If you want to reach out to us you can use the links below! Greetings listeners! It's that time of the year again! Join us as we sit down and talk about the greatest games of the year 2020, except with a small change. This year both Joel and Kyran sat down and wrote up their Game of the Year lists and recorded them ahead of putting together this year's show. Joel's list starts at 9m54s and Kyran's at 24m28s. It was our first time really trying something like this, but its definitely something we're interested in trying a little bit more so we hope you enjoy it! Outside of our main ten picks each we also can't help but go off on tangents and talk about our honourable mentions that also came out last year because its impossible to touch on everything. If there are any games that we didn't try last year but you think we should look at then definitely us know! You can reach us by hitting up the links below! Greetings listeners! A new year is upon us! Hopefully one that is kinder to all of us, especially after 2020 spent so much time kicking our collective butts. We decided the best way to welcome in the new year was by taking a look back at 2020's video games and doing our annual video game battle royale (which we actually missed last year, foolishly). So we've assembled a list of 22 game that came out last year and we attempt to kill our way through the list, one by one, until only one victor is left standing at the end. We are also currently working on our Game of the Year lists, that episode should come later this month as we attempt to crunch on as many of the year's games as we physically can, plus we'll probably do a bumper Quest Log to cover all of the craziness we've played over the holidays. What's your Game of the Year? Any highlights we have completely forgotten about? Feel free to hit us up using the links below to let us know! Greetings listeners! First of all, sincere apologies for the delay! As mentioned in the episode, we had fully intended to record this last week but Kyran came down a little sick so we had to push back. We're back now though! In our Quest Log we take a look at the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 and our very early impressions about the game. We also use this opportunity to look at the disastrous launch of the game and just how astounding it is that CD Projekt Red keeps putting their foot in it each and every day. It is a game that we are enjoying, but it is impossible to deny it is far from the product that the trailers had promised. Meanwhile, in our Bonus Round we resolve our annual Game Awards bet and unfortunately for Joel he finds himself defeated once again at the hands of Kyran by a single point, but what game will he have to play? He's definitely not going to enjoy it. Then we run down a list of announcements from the show, including the reveal of a new Perfect Dark, Sephiroth coming to Smash Bros, new teasers for Mass Effect and Dragon Age, and we scratch our heads over the strangest trailer of the night introducing an Ark 2 featuring Vin Diesel (plus many more!) The plan is to put out a special episode next week where we'll run down our annual best game of 2020 Kill Your Babies special (our own Game of the Year stuff will come probably come late January). Greetings listeners! We're back with a new episode and its one of the one's we look forward to for most of the year. The 2020 Game Awards, hosted by Geoff Keighley, are right around the corner and that means it is time to sit down, scour through the nominees and pick who we think will win. We've got stakes and the winner will get to pick a game for the loser to play, which we'll lock in at the start of the results show. We also added in a new element to include our votes as well as who we think wins, so you'll also get to hear who personally hope wins each category (and if you manage to pick them both, then you can score yourself some sweet bonus points). Lastly, at the end of the show we take some time to think about what announcements or reveals we'd like to see at the show. Keighley can't resist a good WORLD PREMIERE and frankly neither can we. If you want to get in touch with us and maybe share some your predictions then feel free to use any of the links below! Greetings listeners! On this week's episode we're only talking about one game! Sucker Punch's PS4 exclusive from back in August, Ghost of Tsushima. We're joined by our good friend, Brendan Hill, to talk about how much fun we've been having with the free multiplayer expansion that the game received a month or so ago. The mode contains a raid (which we're yet to do), four-play survival missions and two-player story missions. If you slept on this game before, now's a perfect time to pick it up! We also spend some time talking about the base Ghost of Tsushima experience since we really haven't had a chance to since it launched back in August. Be mindful that we do talk full spoilers scattered between the runtime of 00:48.25 to 01:11.50. Greetings listeners! On this week's episode we've been playing a surprising amount of games! First up, having now reached the game's credits Kyran and Joel sit down to talk about Hades for possibly the last time outside of inevitable Game of the Year discussions (SPOILERS start at 8m15s and run to roughly 13m45s) as well as touch on their time with the recently released demo for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Meanwhile with their individual play time Joel's been running amok in Bloodroots and living his cyberpunk dream in Ghostrunner and Kyran succumbed to the temptation of the Pokemon DLC and has been feverishly learning to appreciate light as he endures Amnesia: Rebirth (SOME SPOILERS FROM 1h26m28s to 1h30m30s). On top of this we also squeeze in a very quick Bonus Round where we Dope or Nope our way through 2020's last Nintendo Partner Showcase. Greetings listeners! We're back with a new episode of the show, this week we've got a relatively slim Quest Log after how stacked last week's was. We briefly touch on how we are still incredibly hooked on Supergiant's Hades, then Kyran talks about his time with the demo for the newest Kingdom Hearts game, Melody of Memory, and how he's been finding Minecraft's Steve now that he's available in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Meanwhile in the Bonus Round, Sony dropped a short video to showcase the PlayStation 5 User Interface for the first time. It looks slick and responsive plus the store is finally built into the interface itself, which should make for a much more enjoyable experience. Then we take a look at the list of 30 confirmed games that will run on the Xbox Series X and Series S at launch and 10 games that won't run on the PlayStation 5. Greetings listeners! We're back with another episode of the Dialogue Options Podcast and this time we've got a jam packed Quest Log episode! We sat down last week to record but realised not only had there not been a great deal of news we could cover on top of us not really having had the chance to play a great deal so we decided to take the week to just play some games. The move paid off as we've got plenty to talk about this week! First up both of us have been spending some time with EA's newest Star Wars game, Squadrons, and we talk about how we're finding it. Joel's been playing in VR and Kyran has been reminded once again just how much he misses the Rogue Squadron games. Genshin Impact is a free-to-play gacha game with a world heavily inspired by Breath of the Wild and has been taking the world by storm, so we've also spent some time there. Lastly on the individual fronts Joel chats about his time with Need for Speed: Payback and whether or not it manages to scratch that itch that he's had for a long time now over the lack of arcade styled racers to play. Meanwhile Kyran bit the bullet and jumped into the early access for Larian's hotly anticipated Baldur's Gate 3 and so far has been blown away by it (despite it featuring a few early access bugs) If you want to get in touch with us feel free to do so using the links below! Greetings listeners! This week's episode was delayed by a week after our previous recording suffered from some classic Audacity meddling and our desire to try and avoid that weird feeling of déjà vu that comes from discussing the same topics again. In our Quest Log we talk heavily about the full 1.0 release of Supergiant's Hades coming to Switch and PC as Joel welcomes Kyran into the roguelike fold. If you are a fan of the genre or enjoy a fun romp through some Greek Myth-draped hack and slash gameplay then it is absolutely should give this game a look. Kyran also briefly talks about his time with Super Mario 3D All-Stars and the conflict of enjoying the game whilst being fully aware Nintendo should absolutely have put more effort into making this something special. Meanwhile over in the Bonus Round we play some more mini games of Dope or Nope with the latest Nintendo Direct Mini (featuring Monster Hunter Rise!!) and Sony's PlayStation 5 showcase which was so packed with things it is hard to summarise it, but it included glimpses at gameplay for Mile Morales and Demon's Souls. Closing out the show is a discussion about Microsoft's latest acquisition of ZeniMax to the tune of $10.4 billion (or $7.5 billion in US dollars) and what that means for the future of many Bethesda games. Greetings listeners! We're back with a new episode, featuring our thoughts on Obsidian's latest early access game, Grounded, which is currently available on Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One and PC (plus available for purchase on Steam). We talk about how we feel after a few hours of running around a huge backyard and just how awful spiders can truly be. Meanwhile, in the Bonus Round we do a round of mini Dope or Nope for Ubisoft's newest digital presentation and talk about their weak time constraints excuse for holding back a video apology for their latest controversy, additionally we touch on 505's newest blunder with the Control Ultimate Edition controversy, Nintendo announces a new Hyrule Warriors game for November, and briefly ponder what this week's PlayStation 5 event might contain.
