More small boats, more asylum claims, more flags flying in town centres – the debate over immigration has never felt more polarised.   Sky News invited a live studio audience to put their questions and concerns to politicians from four of the main Westminster parties. So, what did they ask and are we any closer to a consensus on what anyone would do about both legal and illegal migration?   Niall Paterson is joined by debate host, Trevor Phillips, and audience member, Ryan Alexander, who asked the panel about the ethics of housing asylum seekers in hotels.   You can watch the debate in full here.  Producer: Emily Hulme Editor: Mike Bovill

A shocking video of a Florida truck crash has gone viral, but the story behind it, and the public's reaction, is a point of contention. The transcript argues that while mainstream media has blacked out the story, a video of an illegal immigrant truck driver, Harjinder Singh, who allegedly caused a fatal accident, is fueling a national debate. The speaker claims the driver's lack of remorse and his attempt to flee to a "sanctuary city" in California highlights the failures of current immigration policies. The broadcast also discusses a GoFundMe petition to set Singh free, which has garnered millions of signatures, and criticizes the use of "canned" talking points in the campaign. The story is framed as a critical test of America's legal and political systems, and a symptom of a deeper societal divide.

This collection of broadcasts paints a picture of a nation in a state of political and cultural civil war, with multiple battlefronts. One front is the GOP's internal struggle, where President Donald Trump is publicly feuding with Republican Senate leaders over the confirmation of his nominees and record-breaking spending. Another is the immigration debate, with the "Saint Kilmar" Abrego Garcia case and the viral video of truck driver Harjinder Singh serving as flashpoints. These cases, according to the transcripts, are a political litmus test that reveals the Democratic Party's alleged strategy of prioritizing criminal illegal immigrants for political gain. The broadcast also explores the impact of technology on crime, arguing that surveillance and DNA databases are making it nearly impossible for criminals to get away with murder. Finally, the segments warn of a deeper threat to American freedom, arguing that a "world speech dragnet" is being built by foreign powers and could be used to silence Americans if they lose their last bastion of freedom: Elon Musk's social media platform, X.

There have always been things that divided people. Ethnic neighborhoods were a part of every community. Yet each lived by the law, and this provided order and opportunities. We all held it sacred to be in this blessed United States of America. There was a time when the majority lived on small farms. There has always been the entrepreneur who would build a business to employ others. This provided jobs and profits. The workers did not live on the same economic level as their employer. Many families had a garden or small farm along with their being employed elsewhere. In...Article Link

This is a recording of a live prayer call made in the early hours of November 9, 2024. The Spirit of the Lord reveals that the United States will have a bitter civil war born of shredded loyalties that will eventually break under the weight of DIFFERENT IDEOLOGIES. Americans will utterly refuse to give each other GRACE. They will attack, accuse, name-call, slander, and bulldoze their way from arguing over ideas/ opinions, to literally fighting hand-to-hand combat and using weapons of death on one another. Society will split also sex/ gender, male/ female, racial, socio-economic status (rich vs poor) and every other conceivable line especially POLITICS until - exaggerated by a cheating, lying government that only keeps an eye out for itself- Americans will snap under pressure and fight back against the government and each other. Yah says it will be worse than the first civil war. A new form of government will arise out of growing unrest with the failing systems of U.S. society, opposed by free militias and patriot forces that the ruling government will fight viciously. Factions will exist and America will break into "zones" that are tightly monitored by whoever controls them. A Hunger Games nation without any former laws will exist where the USA used to be. CBS Sunday Morning with Jane Pauley

In a rebroadcast of our special Emmy Award-nominated broadcast, "A Nation Divided?," Ted Koppel explores the ways in which America has drifted apart, and how we can still come together. Stories include: Why some Oregonians want to move the border to become part of Idaho; a visit to Teton County, Wyoming, home to the widest income divide in America; conversations with musician-activist John Legend, and TV producer Norman Lear; an examination of why blue collar jobs are stigmatized; a look back on our country's violent political history; the polarization generated by talk radio, and the corrosive effects of social media; and a workshop held by Braver Angels, a non-profit aimed at bringing Red and Blue Americans together.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The Rev. Dustin Beck, pastor of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda, TX, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study the Judges 20. In response to the horrific crimes committed by some Benjaminite men in Gibeah against his concubine, a Levite sends parts of her body to the twelve tribes of Israel calling for retribution and justice. The tribe of Benjamin refuses to hand over those responsible. This sparks a civil war where all sides suffer heavy casualties. During the third round of battle, the Benjaminites are defeated and only 600 men escape the fight. Will the other Israelites live to regret their near extermination of their fellow kinsmen? The Book of Judges tells the story of Israel's descent into chaos and idolatry, and the subsequent rise of a series of judges, or redeemers, who deliver them from their enemies. The judges are flawed heroes, but they are also instruments of God's deliverance. The book ends with the Israelites in a state of moral and spiritual decay, but it also offers hope for a better future.

The Age of Jackson was a time of intense change and tremendous growth in the United States. But it was not without controversy. In the years leading up to the Civil War, slavery and the rising abolitionist movement divided the country. On this episode, Lindsay speaks with Dr. Kate Masur, a history professor at Northwestern University and the author of Until Justice Be Done: America's First Civil Rights Movement, from the Revolution to Reconstruction. They'll discuss the decades leading up to the Civil War: the Black codes, the Fugitive Slave Act, and the Compromise of 1850 and states' rights.Listen ad free with Wondery+.
