The 45th Commander in Chief, Donald Trump, surpassed the critical benchmark of 1,215 delegates on Tuesday evening, a milestone that validated his position as the Republican nominee for the top seat in the U.S. Elections that took place in the states of Georgia, Mississippi, and Washington were met with overwhelming support for Trump, demonstrating his supremacy within the party. His opponents this time will be familiar, as he stands against President Joe Biden, who successfully secured his own nomination on the Democrat side. It appears that Trump's dominance in the political sphere remains unchallengeable, a phenomenon that continues to puzzle and fascinates the American public in equal measure. Throughout the Republican primaries, Trump's adversaries, including seasoned politicians like Nikki Haley, former Governor of South Carolina, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, North Dakota's own Governor Doug Burgum, respected Senators such as Tim Scott of South Carolina, and business magnate Vivek Ramaswamy of Ohio, all ended their campaigns, reinforcing the well-known saying that Trump is an unstoppable political force. This sense of Deja Vu takes us back to 2016, when Trump vanquished a record number of 16 Republican candidates, including the establishment's preferred choice, Hillary Clinton, propelling him into the presidency with an impressive margin. However, his current political journey differs from those past experiences in terms of the scale of victory.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Wall Street Journal noted that “Donald Trump won the Iowa caucuses Monday night with the largest margin in the history of the first Republican presidential nominating contest.” You can read the full recap from John McCormick, Alex Leary, and Eliza Collins here: https://www.wsj.com/politics/elections/iowa-caucus-2024-republican-primary-d55c152a Following the release of Monday's Iowa caucus results, Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy announced he was suspending his campaign. Ramaswamy finished fourth with roughly 8% of the vote and is now endorsing Republican frontrunner Donald Trump. After learning he finished a distant second to Donald Trump in Monday's Iowa caucus, Ron DeSantis told a crowd of supporters that “we've got our ticket punched out of Iowa”—calling the result a success as rivals “spent almost $50 million attacking” him and his campaign

Hello friends,Today Heather and I look ahead to Monday's Iowa caucuses — and ask whether Nikki Haley has a chance to become the Republican nominee in 2024. Or are Haley and DeSantis simply laying foundations for their 2028 runs, assuming Trump relinquishes his dictatorship then? Lots to talk about today. Please grab a cup, pull up a chair, and join us. I don't know if you saw the news, but Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just took over the Disney tax district and literally appointed his homies to run it. His memoir comes out today. He's openly homophobic. And is fighting hard to make sure Black history isn't taught in Florida and his base LOVES IT. In case you missed it, the Republican primaries for President are underway. Trump has announced he's running. Nikki Haley has announced. Senator Tim Scott is up next. But I truly believe Ron DeSantis will defeat all of them and win the Republican nomination. He's even more conservative than Trump, but without all of the baggage, lawsuits, criminal investigations, ex-wives, failed businesses, etc. And here's the question that Democrats HAVE TO ANSWER... do you actually think Joe Biden could beat Ron DeSantis. I don't. I don't even think Joe Biden thinks he could beat him. And that's why Biden should announce he's not running for President and Democrats should have a serious primary for a candidate to defeat Ron DeSantis. Let me unpack and explain it.To listen to today's FULL EPISODE of The Breakdown go now to Apple Podcasts or Spotify and search for “The Breakdown with Shaun King.” Subscribe there for FREE and listen to the whole podcast. Trump is struggling. At life. At politics. And, of particular note today, he's struggling IN THE POLLS. Multiple new polls have Trump tanking. And for good reason. He was like poison to every major candidate he endorsed in the mid-terms. He was seen as such a liability to Herschel Walker, HIS HAND PICKED CANDIDATE for Georgia, that in the final days, the Walker campaign basically told him to stay far away. The Trump Organization itself was just convicted of multiple crimes. And it's highly possible that he's going to be charged with multiple crimes himself in the months ahead. But if Trump can't win, I just don't think that Joe Biden is the right candidate to go against someone like Ron DeSantis. Biden can absolutely beat Trump, but I think he would struggle against most other candidates. Which puts a lot of candidates, and the Democratic Party itself, in a very weird position. What should they do? Let me unpack and explain it.
