Last year, as part of their ‘Storyland' initiative, RTE invited budding writers and creative talent to submit their ideas for original and new local drama. From the hundreds of submissions, three dramas were eventually chosen to go into production, all written by women. The first of which airs tonight on RTE2 at 9:30pm. It's called Mustard and was created by actress and playwright Eva O'Connor. Originally a theatre show, Mustard tells the story of Eilis and her addiction to the spicy yellow condiment. The following week, we'll see Every Five Miles by Sinéad Collopy make its debut on screen. It's a harrowing story of human trafficking and modern day slavery, inspired by Collopy's years spent working in child protection services. Finally, on November 3rd, Balor Hall written and directed by Rioghnach Ni Grioghair will be aired. This contemporary ‘whodunnit' sees the greedy members of the Devereux family return to the patriarch's vast agricultural estate for a brutal land grab. The three writers talk to Róisín Ingle about the inspiration and meaning behind their projects, the joy of bringing their ideas to life and what they will be working on next. All dramas will also be available to watch back on the RTE Player. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

During these unusual times, everyone has had to adapt what they do.. no matter what their line of work and that includes comedians! In this episode I chat with Eimear Morrissey, actor, voiceover artist and facilitator - working with young people through theatre/drama. Emer is best known for her role as Tracey Rooney in the RTE2 comedy drama Damo & Ivor, and also the movie. Eimear shares with us how COVID19 is effecting the Arts world, how it is impacting her work and how artists are creating art in new and exciting ways in isolation. She lovingly remembers her Grandmother who sadly passed away at the beginning of the lockdown and what loving and losing her has taught her. Personally I had a few "lightbulb" moments during our chat as Eimear talks with such a sense of self awareness and kindness that she gave me pause for thought. We chatted about being single in isolation and I crushed her hope of meeting someone anytime soon. Sorry, girl! We laughed a lot! I always try to keep my podcasts to 45 mins. This one is a full hour long but I promise you it is worth it. I could have stayed chatting with Eimear for hours. Enjoy!

Slaughtneil slayers Watty Grahams are set to contest their first-ever Derry SFC final, against a Magherafelt side who are appearing in their first in 36 years. Synopsis for Gotham Season 3 Episode 1 Review Better To Reign in Hell Podcast Directed by: Danny Cannon Written by: John Stephens Six months after the last sighting of Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) , Lee has moved on with a new man in her life and Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) has become a bounty hunter tracking down the Arkham Asylum escapees. Penguin, Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor), puts a $1,000,000 bounty on Fish, dead or alive. He visits Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) and feels that Fish has an ulterior motive. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne's (David Mazouz) mysterious doppelgänger is lurking around Gotham City and learns of Bruce's identity from Ivy, who mistakes him for Bruce. Gordon, with the help of enthusiastic reporter Valerie Vale (Jamie Chung), tracks down Strange's assistant Ethel Peabody (Tonya Pinkins), but she is captured and killed by Fish. A suspicious Ivy Pepper (Clare Foley) spies on them and is caught. Fish orders her killed, ignoring the protests of Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova), but she runs and falls down a sewage pipe after being touched by one of Fish's associates, Marv (Victor Pagan), one who can accelerate a person's aging process. Bruce and Alfred return to Gotham and call a meeting with the Wayne Enterprises Board of Directors, where Bruce threatens to disseminate his evidence pertaining to the cabal in charge behind the scenes unless he is contacted by them within 24 hours. The Court of Owls sends Talon to Wayne Manor to kidnap Bruce. Thank you so much for listening to Gotham TV Podcast for this season of Gotham. I met up with me ole buddy Damian Clark. He is a Dublin based Aussie Comic that Irish audiences may remember him from his RTE2 series I Dare Ya. We chatted about his early Dublin days, being a fish out of water here in Ireland like myself, and then I found out about his amazing 2015 Edinburgh show about his phone being stolen. Its a super interesting tale. Plus we came up with a novel snapchat idea that may take off. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
It was an honour this week to chat to a real legend of Irish radio, Ian Dempsey. Ian began his career like many others on the first wave of pirate stations in Dublin, including ARD. He joined RTE in 1980 and was 2FM's most successful breakfast jock ever, and since his departure they've never really managed to find anyone to replace him properly. He was also the host of Dempsey's Den on RTE2 television, a kid's show which brought us those lovable aliens Zig and Zag. In 1998 he was lured away to Today FM where he's presented the breakfast show ever since – a remarkable achievement by any standards, simply because of the demands of getting up at that time every single day! We chat about his start in radio, the early days of 2FM competing with the superstar pirates like Radio Nova and Sunshine, his decision to leave RTE, the creativity and enjoyment of doing the breakfast show on Today FM, a mutual love of David Bowie and loads more. It's always great to meet somebody whose career you admire, even more so when they're as nice and generous with their time as Ian was. I hope you enjoy the show. You can find Ian on Today FM every morning, and on Twitter @IanDempsey.
