Last Wednesday, President Joe Biden confirmed his presidential pen's application to a new national security package. This legislation advances a strategic allocation of $60 billion for the Ukrainian nation, an unprecedented $26 billion to assist Israel, and a tactical $8 billion for nurturing relationships in the Indo-Pacific region. A fair share of the budget is also set aside for the purpose of humanitarian assistance in Gaza. In this stout-hearted endeavor to augment the tenets of global security, a unique provision finds a mention, concerning the grand oriental technological conglomerate, ByteDance. ByteDance, the parent company of the much sought-after social media platform TikTok, is obligated corporate entity under this new law. The newly signed act mandates that ByteDance sell off its asset TikTok to an American corporation within the upcoming 12 months or risk finding itself in the grip of a permanent prohibition in American territories. 'This legislation has charted an arduous course to find its way to my table. Ideally, the journey should have been relatively more straightforward and speedy,' echoed President Biden after he inked his signature on the pivotal new law. He added, 'But more importantly, America, in its proverbial spirit, once again rose to the occasion. We prevailed against the odds.' The progression of the legislation didn't proceed without resistance, running into a substantial roadblock from the Republican representatives of the House. Astonishingly, it failed to garner majority support from within the dominant party. Despite this setback, Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the House from the Republican side, together with his left-wing contemporaries, commandeered the legislative piece to the floor of the House.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Biden Signs Bill Package That Includes a Potential TikTok Ban. Here's What Happens Next ¹: - *What does the bill do?*: The bill that Biden signed gives TikTok's Chinese parent, ByteDance, 270 days to sell TikTok. Failure to do so would lead to significant consequences: TikTok would be prohibited from U.S. app stores and from “internet hosting services” that support it. - *What does this mean for TikTok users?*: If TikTok can't separate from ByteDance by the deadline, then U.S. TikTok users could hypothetically be cut off by mid-January. - *What are TikTok's options?*: TikTok promised to take the U.S. government to court if Biden signed the bill. In a memo on Saturday, a top TikTok executive wrote to employees that this would be the “beginning, not the end” of a long process to challenge what the company calls unconstitutional legislation that censors Americans' speech rights and that would harm small businesses that depend on the app. - *Does TikTok have a case?*: First Amendment experts say a bill that has the ultimate effect of censoring TikTok users could be shot down by the courts.

The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1: 3:05pm- On Wednesday, President Joe Biden signed a foreign aid package totaling $95.3 billion—with $60.8 billion earmarked specifically for Ukraine. The bill had passed in the House of Representatives on Saturday before being passed in the Senate with a vote of 79 to 18 Tuesday evening. The aid package also includes a measure that would force Chinese company ByteDance to sell its popular social media platform TikTok, within 6 months, to an American-based company—citing a current threat to national security. Refusal to sell TikTok would result in the app being banned in the United States. 3:30pm- James Lynch of National Review writes: “Former Biden administration disinformation head Nina Jankowicz has launched a new organization to fight against conservative efforts to combat online censorship. Jankowicz launched the American Sunlight Project this week to fight what she believes to be a campaign by conservatives to undermine the anti-disinformation industry.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nationalreview.com/news/former-biden-disinformation-czar-launches-group-to-defend-online-censorship/ 3:40pm- While speaking to the press after President Joe Biden signed a $95.3 billion foreign aid package, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blamed Tucker Carlson for delaying the bill's passage—citing the former Fox News host's vocal opposition to Ukraine aid, which caused a group of Republican members of Congress to combat the bill.

The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1: 3:05pm- Rebecca Picciotto of CNBC writes: “President Joe Biden on Saturday signed Congress' $1.2 trillion spending package, finalizing the remaining batch of bills in a long-awaited budget to keep the government funded until Oct. 1. Almost halfway into the fiscal year, the president's signature ends a months-long saga of Congress struggling to secure a permanent budget resolution and instead passing stopgap measures, nearly averting government shutdowns.” You can read the full article here: https://www.cnbc.com/2024/03/23/biden-signs-1point2-trillion-spending-package.html 3:25pm- In response to the House of Representatives passing a $1.2 trillion spending package on Friday, Congressman Scott Perry (R-PA) publicly objected to money going towards “processing” migrants entering the country unlawfully instead of prioritizing security at the U.S. Southern border which would prevent their entry in the first place. 3:30pm- On Sunday, New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy announced that she was suspending her campaign for U.S. Senate. In a video posted to social media Murphy explained her decision: “I have been genuine and factual throughout—but it is clear to me that continuing in this race will involve waging a very divisive and negative campaign, which I am not willing to do.” You can read more here: https://www.politico.com/news/2024/03/24/nj-first-lady-tammy-murphy-to-end-senate-campaign-to-replace-bob-menendez-00148728 3:45pm- Ben Protess and William K. Rashbaum of The New York Times write: “With Donald J. Trump on the clock to secure a nearly half-billion-dollar bond in his civil fraud case, a New York appeals court handed the former president a lifeline on Monday, saying it would accept a far smaller bond of $175 million. The ruling by a panel of five appellate court judges was a crucial and unexpected victory for Mr. Trump, potentially staving off a looming financial disaster. Had the court denied his request for a smaller bond in the fraud case, which was brought by the New York attorney general, Mr. Trump risked losing control over his bank accounts and even some of his marquee properties.” While speaking to the press outside of the courthouse, Trump said he plans to pay the newly reduced bond in cash.
