Many of us start our transformational journey with therapy, and while it's effective, it's also a limited modality. In this episode with psychotherapist Sonia Hsieh, we address some of the limitations of the therapeutic container and explore how plant medicine containers fill those gaps. One of the major shortcomings of therapy is that trust can be difficult to build between a therapist and client. Sonia and I explore how plant medicine, on the other hand, can teach us to trust ourselves, trust the plant we're sitting with, and then in turn trust life. We speak on many other nuances between psychotherapy and plant medicine.Sonia Hsieh is a psychotherapist located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Costa Rica. Formerly trained in psychoanalytic and insight-oriented approaches to therapy, Sonia began to make the transition to psychedelics in 2020, as well as writing and publishing articles for "Field Trip Health" and "Psychedelic.Support". In the fall of 2021, she completed the MAPS mdma-therapy training program and in 2022 began assisting at Iboga Wellness. Currently, Sonia is in training and assisting at Iboga Wellness in Costa Rica and guides clients using psilocybin and mdma.I was blessed to have Sonia literally hold my hand during my iboga ceremonies at Iboga Wellness, so it was such a joy to drop in with this medicine sister today. As the FX9 doesn't have a dedicated Anamorphic mode or even a Open Gate 6:5 mode like other cameras, how much do you need to crop in to remove vignetting? Is it better to use the S35 mode or 6K Full Frame mode when using 2X anamorphic lenses? Well lucky for you i've shot two projects using 2X anamorphic with the FX9 and the short answer is "It does work with limitations". The FX9's sensor is actually really large 35.7 x 18.8 mm compared to the Alexa Mini that has a Open Gate mode using it's full sensor of 28.25 x 18.17 mm. Using the FX9 in 6K FF mode you have a lot of room in post when using 2X anamorphic to maintain image fidelity, but not every anamorphic setup is going to work which I explain in this podcast episode. Some have estimated the annual cost of chronic back or neck pain in the US to exceed $200 billion per year. And the economic burden is almost as unbearable as the pain faced by patients. This week on the program, we discuss the clinical and radiographic aspects of structural spine disease--or spondylosis--and expert recommendations on how to manage it. Produced by James E. Siegler. Music by Steve Combs and Scott Holmes. BrainWaves' podcasts and online content are intended for medical education only and should not be used for clinical decision making, especially not for back surgery. REFERENCES Baron EM and Young WF. Welcome to Part 1 of our JABBIC show for season 35, Survivor Heroes vs Healers vs. Hustlers. We have recorded our preliminary thoughts on each of the castaways including how well we think they will do in the overall game as well as some details we gleaned from the interviews to kick off another season of watching Survivor together. Now it is your turn. We want to hear what you think about the 18 new castaways that will hopefully entertain and surprise us for the next 3 months. Let us know how well you think they will or won't do this season. We want to hear about who you had the strongest reaction to. Who's going to be voted out first? Who's your pick for final four and the sole Survivor? Send in your predictions, keep it to 3 minutes. Get your responses to us by noon PST on Saturday, September 23rd. Try not to think too long about it, just go with your first impression. Check out Paul's Visual Roster to help you collect your thoughts. JSFL registration is open! If you would like to join in the fun, click on this link: JSFL Registration and get your picks in before the first episode airs.
