In perhaps my most raw episode yet, I share the recent experience of my second work with Iboga at Etéreo: Center for Truth in Baja, Mexico. As I recounted this journey, I shed many unexpected tears while reflecting on the resistance I faced, the shadows I had to confront, and the enormous clarity that emerged through this recent work with the Iboga medicine. With stern realness and my signature vulnerability, I discuss how Iboga worked on me as a sharp, clear mirror, showing me a part of myself I had long suppressed.Guided by Paije A. West and her team, I was able to unearth and start bringing love and acceptance to the deep well of shame I had been working very diligently to keep hidden beneath the surface. This episode highlights the significance of preparation, the courage required to face the darkest aspects of ourselves, and the gifts that await when we're willing to see ourselves clearly with Truth. Many of us experience ego death through psychedelics, but what happens when someone actually dies and returns to share their insights? Kyle Buller, co-founder of Psychedelics Today, had his life transformed at 16 after a traumatic snowboarding accident left him with a profound near-death experience (NDE). In this episode, we dive into the unspoken and messy realities of working with psychedelics. While many conversations focus on the profound healing and life-changing potential of these substances, this episode balances that narrative with some grounded real world truths. We're diving into a topic that hasn't been publicly explored in the psychedelic space yet: the innovative intersection of psychedelic facilitation and the doula model of care. Paije Alexandra West is bringing this forward for us today as an international retreat host, experienced psychedelic facilitator, and trained doula. Paije shares her thoughts on how the principles of doula care can be seamlessly integrated into psychedelic work to create compassionate, supportive, and transformative experiences.Paije educates us on the guiding principles of the doula model, emphasizing the importance of advocacy, mindful presence, and compassionate support in psychedelic facilitation. She discusses the advantages this model offers to Western medicine providers, particularly around how this approach allows Westerners to serve (some) psychedelic medicines without appropriating cultures that don't belong to us. Paije also shares her personal journey, balancing her roles as a mother and a facilitator, and offers invaluable advice for those considering a path in psychedelic facilitation. Six months ago, I had my most profound and impactful psychedelic experience yet. I smoked 5-MeO-DMT, left my body, somatically released stuck energy, and experienced the infinite love of the universe. This experience set me on an integration journey that has up-levelled my life in ways I couldn't have imagined. In this episode, I'm excited to share the details of my integration journey over these past six months. While there have been many ups and downs, the overall impact on my life and energy has been immensely positive.Throughout this episode, I'm highlighting that this very powerful medicine isn't just about the psychedelic experience itself but also about the integration process that follows. 5-MeO-DMT "set me straight" by opening me to unconditional love and regulating my nervous system. The energy in my heart is flowing freely into my work and has even empowered my relationship with money. This is just the tip of the iceberg, as I am sharing eight tangible ways my life has changed as a result of my 5-Meo-DMT experience at Enfold Institute. What in the world is a psychedelics podcast doing talking about “personal style” and fashion?! This has to be the first. But discovering your personal style is identity work that requires vulnerability. It's a deeply meaningful journey of self discovery. If you don't see the connection now, then you will by the end of this podcast. In this episode, I am introducing a concept around the different stages of psychedelic integration: There is the “heavy lifting” stage where we're doing deep work to significantly improve our lives, followed by the “refinement” stage which is a lighter process of fine tuning. For me, this refinement process is showing up in my journey to discover my personal style. The misalignment between my identity and my wardrobe has come up a few times during psychedelic journeys, and I am finally addressing it so that the outside is a true reflection of my inside. I also make the connection between the responsibility to find your personal style, living a values-based life, and sustainable consumption.Topics Covered:The “heavy lifting” vs “refinement” stages of psychedelic integrationThe connection between life satisfaction and values-alignmentHow refinement is showing up for me through personal styleHow personal style came up during my psychedelic experiencesWhy I stopped caring about fashion during my healing chapterWhy I started caring about fashion again after my healing chapterFast fashion overconsumption as a result of not knowing my personal styleMy core values that are aligned with knowing my personal styleMy journey to discover my personal style so farConsumption habits and making wise purchase decisionsShow Links:1:1 Coaching with LanaEarth Runners - 10% off with LANAEpisode 45: My Iboga Journey (Spotify | Apple | YouTube)Episode 60: My Shipibo Ayahuasca Journey (Spotify | Apple | YouTube)Episode 79: My 5-MeO-DMT Journey (Spotify | Apple | YouTube)Wear It Well by Allison Bornstien [book]Sustain This! Psychedelics don't always make things better. Jesse's psychedelic ego death experience cracked Jesse open to feel deeply, which was a new experience for her. Get your notebook out because you're going to want to take notes from this episode. Today I am providing education on the seven levels of consciousness that you need to know if you are on a healing journey or on the path of transformation. This information has the potential to empower the way that you perceive yourself and the world around you. It will also trigger insight into some of your limiting beliefs and energetic blockages that might be keeping you stuck in life.I'm going to share with you the seven levels of consciousness, and I am going to tell you about a research validated tool that will help you understand your own “energetic profile”. The iPEC seven levels of consciousness framework is the coaching methodology I use in my work, and it happens to pair brilliantly with psychedelics.Topics Covered:How the seven levels of consciousness are useful for your journeyAnabolic versus Catabolic energyWhy there is not “good” or “bad” and why we need access to all the levelsDetailed information about each level of consciousness, from 1 to 7The advantages and disadvantages at each levelA research validated tool for measuring your energetic profileHow to use this framework with psychedelicsShow Links:Learn more about my 1:1 Coaching ProgramApply for my 1:1 Coaching ProgramiPEC's 7 Levels of EnergyThe Energy Leadership Index Assessment Want more Modern Psychedelics?Instagram | YouTube | Web | Facebook Inspired to transform your life from the inside out, and integrate higher consciousness in your day to day life?Explore 1:1 Coaching with Lana or Apply Now This episode was produced in collaboration with FWI Media. The women of the psychedelic underground stand in stark contrast to psychedelic therapists, clinicians and researchers. In some ways, they hold much more wisdom and knowledge about working with these medicines. It's an honor to have Dr. Rachel Harris back on the podcast to discuss this. Since we last spoke, she has released a new book called Swimming in the Sacred: Lessons from the Psychedelic Underground. This is one of the most important books written about psychedelics, as it shines a light on the wisdom and work done by elder women psychedelic guides. Dr. Rachel Harris has been in private practice for 40 years as a psychologist. Later in her career, she began exploring psychedelics for healing and transformation. In this conversation, we dissect what exactly transformation is, and the qualities that these underground elder guides have, making them so effective at facilitating transformation (which is very different from healing).Listen in for a chance to win a copy of Swimming in the Sacred!Topics Covered:The difference between a transformation and the therapeutic processSigns of transformation that psychedelic guides look forHow underground guides transition from their healing journey to guidingDifferences between underground guides and psychedelic therapistsHow underground guides view integrationPsychedelics and plant medicine as a way of lifeNavigating the “subtle realms” and expanded states of consciousnessThe quality of fearlessness in psychedelics guidesBeing aware of ego inflation as a psychedelic guideShow Links:Earth Runners - 10% off with LANA1:1 Coaching with LanaSwimming in the Sacred [book]Instagram Giveawayswimminginthesacred.comvisionarycongress.org Want more Modern Psychedelics?Instagram | YouTube | Web | Facebook Inspired to transform your life from the inside out, and integrate higher consciousness in your day to day life?Explore 1:1 Coaching with Lana or Apply Now This episode was produced in collaboration with FWI Media. This episode is so personal and vulnerable that I am almost uncomfortable sharing it publicly. I share my entire life story and my healing journey out of the darkness. I take listeners through the formation of my core wounds and self-destructive narratives, which ultimately left me depressed, anxious, lost, and disempowered to move my life forward in a positive direction. But that's only half of the story. The second half is the documentation of my healing journey with therapy, medicine work and self-discovery. By sharing these details, I am shining a light of the gift of the struggle. Most of my life has been an uphill battle, but in recent years I have reached a place of peace, happiness and fulfillment. And most of all, gratitude for it ALL!Please consume this episode with nothing but love, as the specifics shared are very vulnerable and done with the aim of inspiring and giving hope to others who are also struggling in life. Cannabis is a slippery slope: It feels like addiction and over-indulgence are always around the corner. But for the most part, I've developed a practice and relationship with cannabis that has been supportive to my life. In this episode, I reflect on my relationship with the plant, how it's changed, and the role it played in my overall healing journey. While getting high is fun and has its place, cannabis really taught me to enjoy my time alone and explore my inner landscape. It's also been instrumental as a creative and expressive tool while producing this podcast. I also present the advantages and potential pitfalls of cannabis, and finding a personal balance with usage. The episode further touches on my change in cannabis consumption patterns over time, my favorite consumption method, and cannabis usage in a social setting.Topics Covered:The role of cannabis during my healing journeyLearning to be alone & love myselfMy personal relationship with cannabisCannabis as a tool for psychedelic integrationCannabis for creativity and podcast productionSocial consumption of cannabisCannabis instead of alcoholShow Links:PAX Cannabis Vaporizers - LANA to save 15%1:1 Coaching with Lana Want more Modern Psychedelics?Instagram | YouTube | Web | Facebook Inspired to transform your life from the inside out, and integrate higher consciousness in your day to day life?Explore 1:1 Coaching with Lana or Apply Now This episode was produced in collaboration with FWI Media. This conversation covers details about 5-MeO-DMT that have not yet been explored seriously in the public sphere. We go far beyond the basics of this medicine as Steve Rio and I explore the nuances and complexities of the non-dual experience and integration process that follows. We also get into the somatic and nervous system benefits of this medicine.Steve Rio's understanding of this medicine has matured and deepened since we last dropped in three years ago (for episode 8; a great episode to learn the basics around 5-MeO-DMT). Steve is the co-founder of Enfold Institute, a place to experience a safe and sacred 5-MeO-DMT ceremony. He is a true embodiment of this medicine: humble, direct, pure and speaks from the heart. We recorded this conversation in late January, two months into my integration process at a time when I was really awakening to how powerful this medicine is. My guest today is Mikaela de la Myco. I was drawn to the way she presents herself as a mother in the psychedelic space through her platform, Mama de la Myco. I had every intention in having a conversation with her about psychedelic parenting. However, I threw out all my questions out the window and followed Mikaela's energy; it was clear that Mikaela had so much to share with us about centring mothers, women, and ingenious voices in the psychedelic movement. She lends us a perspective around how the psychedelic mainstream movement is falling short, and the reality of how indigenous people are treated in the psychedelic industry. In addition, we talk about how mushrooms are helping mothers through the challenges of the postpartum period, and how psychedelics might be useful for families.Mikaela is currently pouring into the Mushrooms and Moms survey with support from Dr. Jim Fadiman and the Microdosing Institute. This project is surveying mothers and birthing people who consumed psilocybin mushrooms throughout their motherhood and parenting journey in order to accumulate a body of evidence for effects of psilocybin on birthing people, women and their children. I smoked 5-MeO-DMT (synthetic Bufo/Toad Medicine) for the first time, to a full release. And in this episode I am sharing all about it. I let you in on the unfiltered details and share vulnerably about what drew me to this experience, the challenges I faced working with this medicine, how it went and what I learned.5-MeO-DMT is a different class of drug from the Earth Medicines I am used to. I experienced this as "light medicine," as it facilitated a direct experience of connection with (not to) a higher power beyond this realm and beyond my comprehension. It was the single most mystical, holy, out of this world experience of my life, and I am still making sense of it.I also debrief on how the retreat unfolded at Enfold Institute, where I went for this medicine. For me, 5-MeO-DMT felt like that medicine I've been preparing for with all my other medicine work. We have a veteran cannabis industry change-maker, advocate, and expert with us. With over 40 years of involvement with cannabis, Andrew DeAngelo has made a massive impact on the cannabis space. And the psychedelic space stands on the shoulders of the cannabis industry.I had so much fun talking to Andrew DeAngelo (both our cheeks were hurting at the end of the interview from laughing and smiling so much). Which is fitting because we discuss how cannabis has a very humorous teaching style.Cannabis is a medicine I love and have a beautiful relationship with, yet I actually don't know too much about it. So, it's an honor to be learning together with you, the listeners! You might be surprised at some of Andrew's advice for approaching cannabis.Expect to learn a lot, be inspired by Andrew's presence, and be straight-up entertained with his “war on drugs” era stories.Topics covered:Andrew's 40 years of bringing cannabis & psychedelics out of the shadowsHow Cannabis lifted Andrew out of depression during his teen yearsReflecting on navigating stigma in the 80s, 90s and early 2000sCannabis “Hip-story,” prohibition & targeting specific communitiesThe origin story of cannabisWhat is cannabis useful for?Terpenes and aromatics in cannabisWhy cannabis is so confusing for consumersWhat you actually need to know when choosing a cannabis strainTHC, CBD, and other cannabinoidsStaying open and curious while navigating cannabisThe spirit of cannabis and teaching style of cannabisShow Links:Kanna Extract Co - LANA to save 10%PAX Cannabis Vaporizers - LANA to save 15%1:1 Coaching ApplicationRead testimonials for my coaching clients Community Feedback Form — I want to hear from you!Last Prisoner ProjectTerpene WheelAndrewdeaneglo.comThis episode was produced in collaboration with FWI Media. After 30+ ayahuasca journeys, I finally got to experience the Shipibo medicine with a direct lineage. It was a beautiful experience and a lot has changed for me since then. Overall, I feel ligher, brighter, and more comfortable in my skin. In this episode, I am giving you an integration update: what exactly has changed for me, what steps have I taken to integrate the insights, and what's different about me as a person?I hope this episode inspire you to continue to learn and grow with plant medicines. I started sitting with ayahuasca years ago when I was totally broken, and even though I am not in that place anymore, the plants continue to teach and guide me. No matter where we are in our journey, the plants have so much to teach us.If you haven't listened to the journey reports, check out episode 60 & 64 (linked in the show notes). Could this succulent from South Africa be a daily ally for managing anxiety and depression? Research says yes. Some of the active alkaloids found in Kanna have been well researched and are now prescribed for treating such mental health conditions. Not only is Kanna well researched, it is also legal and has very low risk profile. Kanna is an empathogen, meaning it increases feelings of connection and empathy towards oneself and others. Rather than being a deep and intense psychedelic experience, Kanna is more often used as a gentle daily support. While it has been used ceremonially in high doses within indigenous cultures, Kanna also offers support as a supplement (microdose) rather than a high dose experience.Delivering all this fascinating information to us is Ryan Latreille, founder of TWO Kanna companies. He tell us everything we need to know about this plant, in addition to how it has a use case in recreational settings, replacing other more toxic substances. We also cover indigenous use, contraindications, empathogens vs psychedelics, and so much more!I am SO excited about Kanna, and I know you will be too after listening to this episode. Don't forget to share it with a friend who might find this information valuable!
